Melons Catering & Event Planning

We worked with Fernando at Melons Catering. We went to a tasting and they blew us away. I probably drove Fernando crazy during the planning process changing our menu a gazillion times, but he was very patient with me. We worked out a fab menu that we are incredibly excited about. I asked for a truffled mac & cheese and it was the best mac & cheese I had in my life. One thing I really enjoyed is close to your wedding, they do another private tasting with you with your menu. This tasting, was of course, also amazing. I thought that the food on the wedding day wasn't AS good as the tasting.. but the tasting was so delicious I think it was hard to lvie up to that. Nevertheless, I had a lot of guests compliment us on the food. One thing that I could tell about Melons is that they are completely capable of running the show – albeit, I do not have any experience from them, but even if I didn’t hire a wedding planner, the staff at Melons seemed more than capable to be running the show.

Sheldon at Melons Catering is awesome!! He virtually served as my wedding coordinator/advisor. He was always available to answer my questions with regard to all aspects of the wedding, not just the food and reception. He always recommended very reputable vendors. He gave two tastings prior to my wedding since I initially sent my sister to survey food and then I went for the final tasting. He even met with me at Classic Party Rentals along with Paige from Passiflora to discuss our table top setting. Truly went above and beyond the call of a caterer. What really swayed me to go with Melons was the quality of the food. I come from a family of restaurant owners, and food is #1. My sister owns a restaurant and is really picky. When she returned raving about their food, I picked them without hesitation. And when I went for my tasting, I was totally impressed. Even my parents were both impressed with the presentation and taste of the food-- and they are hard to impress being restaurant owners themselves and also biased to Chinese food. On the day of the wedding, the food was excellent. Their hor de ouvres (we had six), including foie gras, steak tartare were amazing...the first course was quail and was really flavorful...the short ribs and swordfish were so...good...and we had them provide mini-bite sized desserts in addition to our wedding cake. If I were to ever have a catered event again, without hesitation, I would hire Melons. And, as sophierah stated, they are fully capable of running the reception end if you do not have a coordinator. Melons takes care of everything.

The tasting was wonderful and their service is top notch. Fernando was great at making suggestions for food choices. They don't just handle the food but they also help make sure the day runs smoothly. I felt with Fernando there along with my DJ and DOC that things were definitely taken care of.

Food was fabulous! Definitely cost more than others, but if you want good food, this is it! We didn't even have a tasting (our friends went for us), and we are glad we trusted them with the food.

Melons Catering provided all of the catering services for our wedding and it was absolutely fabulous. The chef created the most stunning foods. I was totally floored on the service they provided us. They gave us all of the prices ahead of time and they did not make any changes so the price they quoted on was the price they gave us which was very nice. I have never tasted so many nice foods in my life they really made our wedding something special and all the compliments we got made it even more worth it.

I just signed with Melons and I'm excited to see how it turns out. So far they have been very professional which really makes me feel better. They were a little more expensive but I feel that we made the right decision. There was another caterer that was in the running with Melons but what it came down to for us was that Melons is a large operation. If anything goes wrong on the day they have a large staff that can substitute whereas the other operation was much smaller. The tasting was really delicious and they were very helpful in explaining how they wrok. I'll rate and update the review after the wedding.
