Simply stated, Michael's work is unbelievable! His ability to capture emotions and moments is second to none. Looking back at our wedding photos there are so many stunning ones to pick from, but more importantly he captured the love and joy we felt on that day perfectly. Our photos were unique to us, reflecting our personalities, our love, and our wedding. They were far from simple stock wedding photos. They captured a moment in time we look forward to reliving through the photos!

Not only do I absolutely love the incredible way Michael Charles captured the best day of our lives, but I also enjoyed working with him just as much! We both felt so comfortable with Michael. I had a million ideas and images in my mind of how I wanted my wedding to look when I looked back on it. Michael Charles was able to encapsulate everything that day meant to my husband and I through the remarkable photos he took.

We have not even gone through all of our photos yet and we could not happier with the results. He took more photos that we could possibly imagine.

We worked with Michael for our engagement shoot in November of 2011, as well as our wedding this past August. I must say working with Michael was an amazing experience. From running around in the freezing cold with us in November, to steering us through our wedding day in the city, Michael's knowledge of what to ask for from us, and his eye for location provided pictures that did not disappoint.

I recently had my wedding on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the Ipswich Country Club. I hired Michael J. Charles Photography to capture our day and I could not be happier. I saw Michael's work a few years ago because he shot a family friend's wedding. I was not even engaged at the time but I knew without question that I had to hire him when I got married one day and 4 years later, I'm so glad I did. From start to finish, Michael was nothing but exceptional. He was not only extremely professional but just has this nice way about him (and really the reason why I hired him) and you want that kind of person capturing your most personal and memorable moments. And for those of you that are wondering, the turn around time for photos is pretty quick. My wedding was on Sunday and he had some images for me by Tuesday. Michael is a pleasure to work with and such an incredibly talented photographer. He, and his second shooter, Ryan, took the most amazing photos at our wedding. We highly recommend working with Michael - he takes pride in his work, does a fabulous job, and easily gets a hundred stars for customer service! We found his pricing to be reasonable, his communication to be timely and thorough and, and his personality to be awesome – so fun to have as a part of our wedding day. He was very calm and collected; made me feel that even if I felt frazzled with a million things going on, this was the one thing I didn't have to worry about and I could trust him to best handle.

We received so many compliments from our friends and family that they found him to be so friendly and they couldn't wait to see all the pictures. We honestly enjoyed him being a part of our day and while we didn't even notice he was there during certain moments, we were thrilled to see that he captured everything. He had great photo opp suggestions and was also very willing to work with whatever we wanted. My husband and I have said over and over again that our best vendor from our wedding was by far our photographer, Michael Charles. From the first time we met with Michael we knew he was the one. When we first meet with Michael it was like meeting an old friend. Michael is professional, geninue and easily friendly. My husband and I highly, highly recommend Michael J Charles! He is a really nice guy, incredibly easy to work with and is an excellent photographer. During our first meeting, I remember him describing himself as a "fly on the wall" and this could not be a more adequate description. Although he captured every important moment, we often did not realize he was even around, which allowed us to really absorb whatever was going on at the time. He also has an uncanny ability to remember people's names (like our 18-person bridal party!), which made the process of taking formal pictures much quicker. Many of our guests, especially those in the formal pictures, commented on how much fun he was to work with.

The slideshow and pictures we received only reaffirmed that we made a great choice. The pictures are beautiful and exactly what we wanted. I was particularly impressed with the slideshow, which made me (and my mom and grandmother) cry! He is incredibly skilled at selecting a variety of pictures (both black/white and color) and placing them in an order in which they tell a story. We are so excited to work with him on our album and could not be happier with him and his work!!

Michael took both our engagement photos and our wedding photos. They were incredible, and Michael was an absolute pleasure to work with. We liked him so much that we're kind of sad we're finished with the process.

Four months after our wedding, guests are still commenting to us not only that our photos are amazing, but that he is the hardest working person they've ever seen, and that it's incredible that he'd be on one side of the room at one moment, then on the other side of the room the next moment, and down on the floor the next, but he was never obtrusive.

We've watched our slideshow about a thousand times, and every time we watch it, my husband and I look at each other and comment that he did such an amazing job. I really can't say enough about him!

Michael takes great pictures and he’s very easy to work with. There were times during the night where he would run full speed across the room to catch a great shot – and he’d do it without getting in the way of any guests or causing any alarm. The one thing that rubbed me the wrong way is the amount of time it took to get pictures from him. At the wedding, he said I’d have pictures in two and a half weeks. At three weeks, I contacted him and he said he'd have our slideshow on a Tuesday and the rest a couple of days later. We got everything on Thursday. I understand that this is his busy season, but not only does three and a half weeks seems an awfully long time, but he shouldn't have told us on two occasions when we would have them, and then not deliver. Our engagement photos also took longer than he said they originally would. We do love our final product though!

Michael was amazing! He did not miss a single moment at our wedding. I was absolutely blown away when I saw the images. They were breath-taking! My husband and I couldn't be happier.

Our brothers and sisters had used other top photographers from the Boston area for their weddings, but we found their prices to be excessively high and their photographic styles too uncompromising. Michael was happy to offer us a package that met his standards and our needs. He listened attentively to our requests for pictures and was not intrusive in executing them. Michael possesses a keen ability to maximize the use of any setting to produce unique and interesting photographs. We are more than pleased with his work and would recommend him to anyone without any hesitation.

When we were planning our wedding from overseas to be held in Boston, we were immediately drawn to the work of Michael J Charles.

As a photographer myself I was obviously very cautious about hiring someone to shoot our special day. Style aside, I knew that we wanted someone that we would get along with on our day; the photographer is really the only vendor you'll see throughout the event and spend a good amount of time before AND after working with them on your photo package. Even from a video conference across the Atlantic we were certain that he was the one to shoot our wedding - we immediately got on together and visited him at his home a couple of months after that call to go through our plans. The air of professionalism was abundantly clear with Michael; from his enthusiasm and friendliness all the way through to his deep and established knowledge about wedding photography - and I think he's over me grilling him about how he shot! :)

The shear abundance of people that shoot weddings these days is quite astonishing; maybe it is the digital revolution? Whatever it is, I can say quite simply that you can seperate "the wheat from the chaff" very quickly by going to meet Michael, talking about your plans and looking at his work. It really blew me away.

After the choice (simple!), there is of course the matter of the business side and we felt very much at ease with his package options and were happily catered for with a custom package that suited our needs perfectly. His contract was easy to understand and totally appropriate. We maintained contact up to our wedding day (I guess we spoke initially around 5-6 months before the wedding) with Michael checking in when he needed our input. We just never worried especially because he was recommended so widely, such as his award for the Best Wedding Photographer in Boston for 2006. Come the wedding day I guess I was a little nervous when I got to the church, but Michael put me at ease quickly, loosening me up and making me laugh. Getting people to laugh and be natural is always tough, especially with strangers, but Michael does that so well. To me his style is all about getting the personalities portrayed well - lots of smiles and laughter. Everything from the preparation photos to group shots, couple photos and the reception - he captured it all so well and really brought out the best of us. I was really impressed with his way of working too - never in the way, always polite. Technically excellent - there's stuff he does that I've never seen anyone else do - EVER - at a wedding and that makes the photos really special.

After the wedding we headed out for our honeymoon for a couple of weeks and Michael gave an estimate for 2-3 weeks for delivery of the images online. They were actually ready at 2 weeks, but we told him not to worry about hurrying with them. I've done a ton of photo editing myself and know that it isn't an easy task with so many photos - everything has to be chosen, then carefully colour balanced and toned to get the most out of the digital negative. So we could have waited longer, but were impressed to have them more quickly than we had thought.

I think the above review is a little harsh; you've got the rest of your life to enjoy your wedding photos and I think a short delay like that to get the best photos of you that you'll probably ever own is worth it. Like I stated above, there's a lot of careful editing that takes place and as someone who is totally anal when it comes to post-production work (and I am too), Michael really knows what he is doing. The evidence that we have hanging on the walls around our home proves that he is very careful not just when taking the photos, but also developing them afterwards. The days of a pro lab developing film are long gone and with that I think that there's a misconception that photos can just be taken from the camera, culled down, then loaded. Now the photographer has twice the amount of work to do. There's so much more to it; while I think the bride above has a right to feel whatever she wants, seriously good quality work takes time. You can't rush art and at the end of the day if you're genuinely happy with the final product and service as a whole, then make it known here. This isn't an attack, just a balancing argument from a genuinely happy customer.

I can honestly state that Michael is among the best photographers that you can find. He is extremely creative, is super-hard working and is a very personable, fun character that you just can't help but get along with.
