Michaels
Reviews for Michaels
LOVE this store! Great variety and nice products. Good sales and coupons!
I love Michaels! They always have coupons and accepted my 50% off coupon even though it was expired. They have an awesome selection. I bought the material for my DIY save the dates. They have a wide selection of embossing supplies. I've been going to them since i was in elementary and will continue going to them when i'm old and making quilts for my grand babies!
What's there to say? Michaels rocks for anything DIY...the coupons don't hurt either! :-)
I don't know where I would be without Michaels because I've bought so much from them. Ribbons, styrofoam balls, silk flowers, paper, etc. Affordable and local.
World Market, Coleman Avenue, San Jose, CA
Generally I like Michael's... but this location seems to be behind on customer service. The World Market Location, Coleman Avenue, San Jose, CA.
(This store caused them the 1 star).
I've had the same terrible situation 2 times in 2 weeks @ that same store!
To begin, I love their 40% off coupons, I use them to get my "big" ticket items and I use the 20% offs for regular price items under $5, I wait for sales on anything else.
So, I go in and begin on one side of the store like usual. I make my way down to the "clearance section" which I think is GREAT to have, not all of them do. I spent quite some time rummaging around the scrapbooking paper and found this lovely vellum. I've haven't been crafty for some years now and have never attempted scrapbooking though I think it looks beautiful. So I grab a few sheets of the vellum, planning to use them as practice sheets to test some of the DIY projects I plan on doing for my wedding or my own ideas for that matter... there was no price sticker but there is a load of it, so I look at others, they were generally 0.15 to 0.25 per sheet, I figured good deal.
I get to the cashier and she rings the vellum last, it comes up 0.75 per sheet. I asked her to double check, 0.75 regular price. My request for discount pricing with the explanation that I got it from the clearance section and there was a lot of it there. The supervisor comes stating that by policy it is regular price and since it has no price tag there is nothing that can be done regardless of where it is located, she insinuated a customer stacked it there. She also stated the only prices they will honor are mis-tagged ones. In my own defense (and fellow shoppers) I explained that was highly unlikely as there was LOTS of that paper there, that EXACT sheet & that there was actually MANY designs in the clearance section without tags, asking if she thought a customer put all those there too. No direct answer, just something along the lines of "people do it all the time trying to get over". I rebutted by saying it appears more like the slack of a worker based on the amount of "untagged" items, as it was not just one or two sheets of one or two items, it was lots of paper of various type/prints/styles. Either way, she denied any type of discount and I left without the paper :(.
One incident, it happens, right? So I shop there over the next week with my new coupons. Didn't purchase anything untagged, no issues.
Today, I go to do my usual price checks on items, 20% off small items, catch sales, & find some clearance paper to test my wedding invite template I made. I find some without problems, find some without tags. I remember the incident, a sales represetative walked by... I kindly requested she do a price check for me, no problem. I find more paper fine, more paper untagged but no sales representative around. I put it to the side and keep looking... while looking I found quite a bit of that paper, and many others UNTAGGED... I want the paper.... I put it in my basket and tell the cashier I have some items from the clearace section untagged.
She begins... three papers NO tags, all on clearance, I'll take 'em. One paper no tag, regular price... I make the same request as before, honor a similiar clearance price based on the fact it is most likely stockin error, lots of that paper was there without the price tag and even more so, lots of different designs were stocked there WITHOUT tags... I told her proof is on her counter as we speak (The first three I choose had no tags but were in the clearance section, on clearance). She just rang me up 3 other papers without tags, from the clearance section on clearance, yet said there was nothing she could do. She happend to be the same supervisor who serviced me with last incident, she remembered the incident and told me she discussed it with her Assistant Mngr. & Store Mngr. - they stated policy is policy and there was nothing they could do. I explained that I understand policy and its placement in the system but there should be room for exceptions, such as this one. Two times, I have spent the time to look for an item expecting to buy at a good price and ended up unhappy because they would not take responsibililty for their own error. It got a bit loud, and I flat out told her it was stupid to argue over a lousy $1.70 price difference BUT I was standing ground on principal of customer service. She continued to say there was nothing she could do, so I asked if they were willing to loose a regular customer over the dissatisfation of a $1.70 difference. She held her position of being unable to make any adjustments.
Pissed I was, so pissed, I told the lady I was NOT going back here anymore. I like the physical set-up BUT the customer service sucks...
I was totally unhappy & to make it worse I didnt pay good attention to the items I did purchase. I bought a marker set for drawing with a 40% off coupon (though I must say the fellow patrons are GREAT - I often give my extra coupons out as we shop - and today the favor was so kindly recipricated, a fellow shopper had an extra coupon and gave it to me!). When I got home and unloaded my items the damned box was already opened with missing markers!!! Uggghhhhhh!!! I called the store right away to let them know so I would not get a hassle upon return, I shall be going back tomorrow for exchange.
Thing is I don't WANT to go back. Looking back this stores overall service is crappy. It is the closest to me and where I do the majority of my Michael's shopping, but looking back I am constantly walking around the store looking for someone if I have a question and NEVER do I find someone quicky. Most of the time those representatives have no knowledge of the products and on girl even said, "I don't do scrapbooking, I don't know." Well that's fine, but she didn't even offer to find the answer from someone else... she just walked away! Of all my times in that store I can only recall one female cashier and one male service representative that always provided good service. Now I wish I took better note of their name to give them credit where credit is due.
Pondering the situation, I feel very just in the position I've taken. Managment has the ability to discount items of any nature when they see fit. I know this personally due to an experience at another store.
During Spring Football I was taking up the task of gifts for our division, our Board Leaders, & our Team Moms. Having been in the McCarthy Ranch Center, Milpitas, CA for other shoppings I dropped in at Michael's. Some items desired where on sale and some weren't. I asked for the manager, explained my position with the team and the details of what I was purchasing... she kindly gave my a discount on regular prices items as a nice gesture to youth sports. I was greatful & noted to myself how nice shopping in that store was.
If I decide to continue being a patron of Michaels I will have to travel several extra miles just to get my items... which means my financial service will be less by elements of time & travel. But I would rather go where the staff knows how to treat their customers!

I have brought sooo much for my wedding from Michael's !!!! The D.I.Y projects and everything!! If I need something I go to my local store and find it here. It has been my go to place for everything wedding!! The 40 and 50 percent coupons have saved me a bundle also :)
Michael's is always where I go to do anything crafty.
Grade: A-
I love Michaels! I purchased a lot of my craft items here: paper cutter, corner punches, heat embosser, Cuttle Bug, Xyron. We also purchased kids favors here. I recommend using their 25-50% coupons whenever possible. Be careful though, you can easily spend hours and hours browsing the aisles! It is a little hard to find your way if it is your first time, and a bit hard to track down someone to help. Some of their items are not the best quality and slightly overpriced, but if you have coupons, it's hard to beat! You can pretty much find most craft items here.
Absolutely awesome!! I bought all my ribbon there and it was so much cheaper than other stores!!
I bought all but one of the materials from Michaels to make my stacker style programs, menu cards, table cards, website cards, wax sticks (for my wax seals) and the big glass that my husband used to make his toast with. The 40%-50% off coupons in the Sunday paper are so useful too. PIB.
I always go there to buy my artsy stuff and I'm planning to get many of my wedding needs there as well.
I got a few things from Michaels but my best purchase was a very plain little girl's christening veil for $5, and little crystals for $2 that i sewed all over my veil to add sparkle. cheapest veil ever! :)
For the budget conscious bride Michaels in amazing! I bought my DIY invites from Michaels craft store. Instead of paying about 1 to 5 dollars per invitation ours have come out to be under a dollar an invite.
I love michaels! it's so cheap and oh so useful. you can get practically anything there! <3 <3
Michaels is the perfect place for the do it yourself bride. I got all my stuff for my shower invations to, wedding invations, center pieces, and wedding favors and they turned out beautiful. All you have to do is go to the wedding isle it is that easy, and just be creative. It saved a lot of money
LOVE Michaels..especially love their sales and coupons! Got signed up for their rewards program as a pilot customer so even better. They always have neat little things for scrapbooking and stuff like that.
Cost effective if you can get things on sale. It was the only place that that this specific color of aqua ribbon. So naturally, I bought their entire stock. Good place for odds and ends.
I'm a very crafty person...and I enjoy scrapbooking and the likes. So for my wedding invitations...I decided to make my own.
I've bought all the supplies I need and then some...what's amazing about Michaels...is that there's never a shortage of ideas!!!
I found most of what I needed to make our escort cards, table name cards, and favors at Michael's. Michael's offers everything needed to pull off a DIY reception, however the variety of products offered could be wider. Some of the favor boxes were a bit expensive, so we opted for cellophane bags instead. It was a relief to know that if something was needed, we would be able to find it at Michael's.
After I started wedding planning I started going to Michaels and when they have sales they really do have some great deals. Though if items are not on sale, I think Joanns is more cost effective! I was able to get some great ribbon and paper items here for my DIY items for the wedding which I am really pleased with!
I was at Michael's practically every weekend leading up to my wedding since my mom and I did a lot of things ourselves. We bought jars from here for the candy buffet with the 40% off coupons found in the newspaper. We also got the invitations for the bridesmaid's luncheon from here, which were really cute and matched my colors. My only complaint was from when we returned a bunch of centerpiece vases that we changed our minds on (before they were used). The manager who was up at the front seemed "put out" that we were returning them. Get over it lady.
I can't really put down how much I've spent there yet because I keep going back! I've always been a DIYer and Micheals is heaven for someone like me. I walk in there with some ideas and always come out with more ideas (and supplies). They always have what I need at a great price.
I just love Michaels! If you need anything crafty, it’s the place to go!
Great selection of favors for my sister's wedding. Staff was very helpful and even when we ended up with extras they were great about returns!
Once again. They have everything here. Fantastic
MY HUSBAND AND I GOT ALOT OF OUR FAVORS FROM MICHAELS WHICH WAS VERY COST EFFECTIVE FOR OUR BUDGET! A GREAT WAY TO STAY IN YOUR BUDGET AND TO FIND NICE, YET INEXPENSIVE FAVORS FOR YOUR GUEST THAT DON'T LOOK CHEAP.
I got some green card stock paper, ribbon, and made the invitations myself. Michaels had a great selection and good prices.
I don't know what I could have done without Michael's! I went there like 3 times a week a few months before my wedding and got all my favors, invitations and little trinkets there! A word of advice is to see if you can get all your friends to help your clip the coupons they always have in the newspaper! They come in so handy!!
Michaels is great! When i couldn't afford what i wanted for necklaces for my bridesmaid, they helped me at michaels figure out how to recreate the look. Also made wedding programs. It was perfect, affordable and easy!
I bought the items for our sand ceremony from Michaels. It looked great and survived in our suitcases on the flight. :)
We purchased several things for the wedding and reception at Michaels. They have great stuff and a huge variety of things as well! I found the perfect bouquets for my bridesaids here!
Great place to get affordable flowers and decorations, if your the crafty type. They have an entire section dedicated to bridal (anything from bouquets jewelery to photo album kits)
Michaels had everything we needed for favors & stuff we didn't need, but just had to have because it was so cute! The only piece of advice I have is start early in your planning process because you'd be surprised how much you can do yourself when time is on your side.
I bought some bowls and ribbons to make simple centerpieces for a friend's wedding. This store has anything and everything you need for crafts.
We did DIY invitations from Michael's. The invitations came with comprehensive instructions on how to print out the invitation and assemble it. They have a great selection of invitations in various styles and they are fairly easy to print, assemble and mail.
We bought pillar cream candles at IKEA and thenw went to Michaels and bought somewhat see through ribbon to wrap around each candle....this gave it an extra pop and level of intrigue. The ribbon was a very reasonable price at Michaels and they were often running %50 off sales which was great.
Michaels, I found my perfect invitations, I will be printing them out myself. I found the exact color and the price was so right compared to what I have been looking at all ready printed out. You really should check out this option if you have your own computer/printer.
We put all the arrangements together our selves, but we bought everything at Michaels. They have the perfect selection to fit the colors, patterns, designs etc. Anything you need to fulfill your perfect wedding day needs. i recommend this place for anything!
They're always really helpful, which is a little dangerous because it would lead to a whole heap of new projects my wife had to have for the wedding. Better here than anywhere else though because they're inexpensive.
If you are willing to print and address your own invitations- this is the way to go. I collected 40% off coupons from the newspaper and purchased the sets in several trips. I only spent about $97.00 on 150 of them and they looked beautiful – you couldn’t tell I printed them at home!
We decided to print our own invitations which we purchased from Michaels. Included in the package were the invitations, envelopes, response cards, response envelopes and a website that had templates and suggestions on font, content, etc. And they were so reasonably priced! As long as a person is familiar with Microsoft word…printing their own is the way to go.
You can never go wrong with Michaels for any decorating projects you may have. I found all of the ribbon, glue guns, rhinestones...everything I needed for invites and projects. Love Michaels!
We did most of the floral decor ourselves for the wedding. We bought silk and plastic calla lillies, roses (red and white), colored (red, ivory, and black) sand for the sand ceremony, and vases. We also bought ribbon and "I do" napkins.
We bought invitations at Michael’s and printed them ourselves. You could not tell the difference from a professional vendor. If you are looking for a way to save money, they have everything from very informal there to very formal, even those with vellum overlay, that you can design and print at home. Lovely, and affordable. They have an entire bridal line now, and we also purchased the unity candle, place cards, and cake topper there.
We got so much stuff from Michael's. I guess my favorite were the Save the Dates. They looked like we had them professionally designed. We took them to a printer & had them do the printing, but that was it. We got them back, assembled them ourselves & I was very impressed with the final product. Good stuff.
I didn't want to spend the hundreds and hundreds of dollars on invitations so i got mine at Michaels. They were beautiful, pink and white. My wedding colors were pink and orange so they worked out perfectly.
The template was easy enough to install and print out.
I highly recommend to those brides and grooms that do not want to spend a boat load on invitations even to those that don't mind spending money. They came out beautifully.
I love this store! I've got a lot of my decor here and even got supplies here to make my own decor as well. The service was great and I was even able to get coupons off the website to help the price too!
We used supplies from Michaels to create little mint/candy baskets. The selection isn't great but the supplies are all together and the price is reasonable. I also found tiny red roses to accent my hair! The store clerks were not friendly and the locations are always overcrowded and packed, but they did offer a coupon at the register. Over all 90% pleased.
Found the most beautiful sage invitations that you make your self at home, absolutely beautiful, a little expensive but alot more reasonable then having them done at kinkos, and they fit my wedding perfectly!
I bought my invites at Michael's. So many people complain about DIY invites, but I found really cute ones and these days nice lasers printers are cheap anyway. The invitations are beautiful and no one knows the difference. Saved me about $400 bucks.
what a great place to go brides!! this place has it all and despite what people say - you can get what you need and reduce with the cost which is huge in todays economy!
We utilized the weekly 40% off coupon from the sunday paper and bought our do-it-yourself invitations one box/week at a time. We ended up paying about $200 for 360 invitations. They were stylish and modern, and we did the printing ourselves. The invitations came with a computer program to help to format the printing.
We are doing all of our floral arrangments for the wedding party, ceremony site and the reception ourselves with flowers that I have gotten from Micheals Crafts, BEAUTIFUL> BEAUTIFUL>BEAUTIFUL selection of faux flowers
let's see I did my save the dates with stuff from michaels and I made all of my own thank you cards. I also made all of the centerpieces myself with supplies from michaels (which I sold on ebay afterward and almost made back all of the money I had spent). If you're a crafty do-it-yourselfer then Michael's is the place for you.
we bought flowers to make arrangements and bouquets here. gorgeous and broad selection of items for d.i.y.-ers. The staff ordered flowers when they ran out during a sale and gave aus a rain check so we could still buy for 50 percent off. they also have a bridal specialist who will help you in your endeavours if you get stuck on a project
We did our own invitations and they were awesome, and no one knew we printed them at home. We got them on sale about a year before we got married. They included the invite, envelope, stickers for closing the envelope, programs, response cards, name tents and any and all accessories that go with the invitation.
Although it is time consuming, the product is worth the money.
Michaels had a great selection of DIY pieces from the paper needed for making wedding programs all the way to hurricane glasses and candles for table accents. We knew that they carried an assortment of things but were surprised to find more when we finally picked through a few of the store locations.
I LOVE Michaels! My sister did all of our flowers (silk) and decorations. My wedding was absolutely beautiful. Michael's offers coupons, which is very helpful, along with the sale advertisements. We got everything we needed to make our day special on a budget.
We used Michaels Crafts for our favors.
They were wonderful in helping us find what we need and were reasonable priced. There is also a coupon in the paper every week so we always used that when going there.
They have craft workshops you can use as well.
We got our centerpieces from the clearance isle and then spraypainted them to match our colors.
It was really neat to see it all at the end and say "hey, we made that stuff!"
We got Martha Stewart invation kits at Michael's Craft for about $15 per box of 80+ invitations. It turned out to be the most cost effective way to get our invitations and they were VERY nice looking! No one knew that we printed them ourselves!
We did our table decorations ourselves with our families help. Most of our materials came from Michaels including shells and metal rings which we glue gunned the shells on the ring to sit around the hurricane glasses. Our candles which were in the hurricanes had sand glued on them with a shell wrapped around and glue gunned down. The quality of the products at Michaels helped make our centerpieces look professionally done.
for a box of forty small clear boxes with the word LOVE in english and french it was kind of cute every body love it.
If you plan on doing your own invitations, they have beautiful do-it-yourself packages at an affordable price. No one could tell I did them at home.
Every time I go to Michaels I find something new! They have so many great wedding accessories. Little embellishments for your invitations, favor boxes, save the dates, the list goes on & on. You can always catch 40% & 50% off coupons in the weekly paper.
I bought simple little white boxes to put candy favors in. I then tied with a sage green ribbon. They were so cute on everyone's place setting. Like a little gift to say thank you for comming. They were half the price of anything else I could buy for 300 favors including the candy.
A great resource, but only as a last minute savior! A bit overpriced, but I couldn't have done it without them
We probably went to Michael's 100 times in the week before the wedding. The favor boxes were beautiful & perfectly matched the decor. They have things you wouldn't even think of & are pretty good about transferring things from other stores for you.
WE BOUGHT CANDLES, RAFFIA & THOSE GLASS MARBLES TO DECORATE THINGS OURSELF. SAVED A LOT OF MONEY TO SPEND ON OTHER THINGS.
You cant beat micheals 50 percent off coupons you will find in your local sunday paper. Use them wisely brides and put money back in your walley instead of on your credit card.
I like michaels for flowers and decor, but the do tend to be a little overly pricey.
I shop and wait for sales, and wait for 50% off coupons.
We decided to print them myself. More of a personal touch. its an easy way to save money and still have money to work them.
I love Michaels, I've been picking up all kinds of stuff there since I'm feeling crafty and making a lot of stuff on my own. So far I've gotten my invitation supplies, silk flowers, flower girl basket, bubbles, and ribbons there.
I got my invitation from a Michaels arts and crafts store. They have a line of wedding invitations and wedding favors by Brides®. Please believe me when I say EVERYONE loved my invitations. They were cute and of great quality. They make you look like you spent a ton of money but I didn’t! each week a new coupon came in the mail for 50% off one item. I would buy one box of 35 invites a week. Instead of paying 34.99 I got them for $17!! I took them to Kinkos to get printed. They were stunning!
got great deals here on my floral. they have great sales and an awesome selection of really nice silk flowers. sign up for their newsletter to get additional coupons, like 40% off!
The floral clerks helped us pick out white and purples roses/flowers for our bouquets, boutineers, and table top vases.
We put together the arrangements with their instructions.
My fiance is allergic to pollen, so Michaels is a HUGE help to us!! My flower is a calla lily and we are getting married in fall, so it is also more cost effective for us!
The folks at Michaels in North Brunswick were my friends! I was in their weekly and by the end daily. I am amazed at what I was able to accomplish- made my own STDs, invitations, menus, programs, cake topper, ribbon boards for seating cards, bubbles, you name it- I did it! The prices are a little higher I think, but the store was so convenient for me and the selection was outstanding for all the ribbons that I needed.
We bought our invitations from Michael’s Craft Store in Leesburg, Virginia. I chose print-your-own invitations because it fit my budget better. The style was a more clothlike paper with dried leaves/flowers embedded in the paper. It also had a velumm sheet on top for text and came with gold ribbons to assemble the two. The set also came with one response card that you had to print and response envelope for each invitation. I believe it was about $35.00 for 50 invitations and I used a weekly Michael’s coupon to get even more off. The invitations were easy to make. A little tricky to get everything to line up on the velumm and print without being crooked. I don’t remember if the holes were pre-punched or not. I was pleased with how everything turned out. The only improvement I would make is I would have liked to background/flower paper on the invitation to be a little heavier. This was more work than just ordering pre-invitations but definitely saved on the budget. Once again, suited my needs but didn’t wow me – hence a rating of 4.
Because I was working on a budget, I decided to go the DIY route for invitations. Tons of wedding magazines have Michaels coupons in them, so I used a coupon to buy my DIY invitations and programs, and altogether they cost $90. They have a beautiful selection of invitations (along with tons of other stationary products). My only warning is to make sure you have a good printer. The first printer I started on had a lot of trouble (vellum getting caught, ink smudging), but once I went to a newer printer, it only took me a few hours to get invitations, reply cards, and envelopes printed. You do need to set aside a fair amount of time to put everything together, but it’s definitely a good money-saver for budget-conscious brides.
I made my own centerpieces to save money!! After looking online I found a few great ideas!! For my centerpieces I bought some little fish like bowls that were very beautiful!! The cost $1 a piece at Michael's Craft Store. Also at Michaels I bought some little pebbles (kind of like fish rocks for an aquarium). I only needed 3 bags for 20 centerpieces and they were $6 a piece. Then I bought the bigger shiny pebbles and put 8 of those in each centerpiece. Those bags for $5 a bag and I bought 3 bags. Then I bought white floating round candles (1 for each centerpiece.) Those cost about $10. I set lilac colored rose petals around them I added water and lit them before the reception!! They were beautiful and I received many compliments!! I also saved ALOT!!!
We bought favor “boxes” from the store and stuffed our own with Hershey’s kisses. They came with little tags that we could personalize ourselves, which we did and they came out beautifully.
Making your own wedding invitations and cards has got to be one of the most painful experiences a couple can go through. Lily got the idea that to save money, we could make our own save-the-date cards. I though we could save money by not sending out save-the-date cards, but I was overruled. She had found some starter kits at the arts and crafts store, Michaels, and thought that it would be a fun project for us to do. I have no art skills, and neither does Lily, but this somehow escaped us at the time. We brought the supplies over to her mother's house, who wanted to help with the project. We open the box, order pizza, and before the pizza gets here we realize that we'll need Lily's laptop and printer. I drive over to the apartment and back. Then we realize there's no ink, we need ink. I get in the car again and go back to the store. Then we need glue. Then we need to tie these small ribbons things, figure out the wording, the dates, where the names should go, etc. Four hours into the project, no one was really into it anymore and we had spent over $100 and had nothing to show for it. Making invitations should be only for those who like doing crafts, and who have the time and the know-how. We look back on the project and laugh, but there was no laughing in the car on the way home that night.
I bought invitation kits at Michael's and printed them myself. I needed 2 packs, so I brought in 2 50% off coupons from the Sunday paper. They let me use both of them at the same time. The invitations were beautiful and the quality was very good. They were so easy to print, that I purchased printable place cards and programs too.
Flowers! If anyone is thinking about wanting to do the bouquets and center pieces on your own, Michael's the store that sells everything for crafts and art like thing is definitely the place to go. Depending on the type of flower you are looking for would depend on what time of year you would have to go to gather the flowers, but they have an excellent selection of artificial flowers for make excellent bouquets and center pieces. The artificial flowers are very colorful, very plush, they make great bouquets. And the best thing of all, the ladies that work in the flower section are fantastic resources to go to for help in what goes and gathers well together and making a great and well rounded bouquet. I think the woman and I spent over an hour on the floor out searching for flowers, but we had such a great time and we tried so many different combinations of flowers together and in the end, I had 5 bouquets and center pieces for 100 guests complete 12 weeks before the wedding. It was fantastic! oh yeah, and the price... well compared to using fresh flowers... I was speechless. Other than not having that fresh flower smell you would never know my flowers are artificial and I can be assured that there are no mishaps with my flower and bouquet order. Unfortunately neither one of my sister could do that and both of them were left the morning of the wedding with flowers, center pieces, bouquets missing, broken, browned, etc... I would say artificial is the way to go! And then you can use the artificial bouquets on the bridal table or wherever to decorate the reception.
The silk flowers were from Michael's Craft store. We didn't want there to be dead flowers on the dance floor, so kept the organic flowers for the church only. It worked out really well.
I used Michael's for my ribbon needs. I also used the ribbon on my invitations. I also made little wedding treats that I got all my supplies from here as well.
Traveling to NYC for a wedding can be hectic, especially when you have to remember to bring favors. We saved time and money on getting our favors from Michael’s. This craft store has a section specifically for weddings. What’s even better? Depending on the time of year, you can find sales galore! Since we were married on Valentine’s Day, we racked up on Valentine’s Day sale goodies to decorate our reception site and we saved a ton of money doing it this way.
A really good resource for diy brides. We purchased at Michaels our glass cylinders (3 per table) and all our candle votives and only spent about 100 bucks total. Plus they have pretty much anything you'd need for making your own invitations, favors, etc.
Great selection and awesome prices on wedding favors! We shopped at the Michaels in Germantown in Milwaukee, WI.
cheap. they have everything
We had spent a few weeks looking for the right invitations to send out, and we kept coming up short (wrong color, didn't like the design, didn't go with our theme, price too high). I visited our Michaels one day to pick up some scrapbooking materials, and I walked through the wedding aisle just to see what they had. My eye immediately was drawn to their invitations, and I saw exactly what we were looking for. We had to print our information ourselves, but the paper and design and quality was exactly what we wanted! For 5 boxes of invitations with the coupon I had, our invitations cost us less than $60!!
Michaels became like my second home during planning our wedding. Their prices and inventory is amazing that I bought like EVERYTHING there... Favors, candles, supplies, etc. They take expired coupons too!
I found adorable seal and send “Do it Yourself” invitations at Micheal’s. Catch them at the right time and you can score invitations for 50% off as I did. They are really easy to do on your home computer and look as good as ordering from a catalog. If you sign up on their mailing list, about once a week you get a 50% a single item coupon which comes in really handy!
Wedding invitations can be very expensive when designed by a company, so we decided to go the partial DIY route. Michael’s has a large selection of invitations with templates to load onto the computer, enter your information, and print out beautiful invites at a fraction of the cost! We were able to make complete invites with an invitation, ribbon, lined envelope, seal, RSVP card & envelope, and directions for under $1/each. We have received numerous compliments on them and nobody knew that they were made at home! DIY invites are a great way to save some money for your wedding.
I wanted to do some fancy silk flower centerpieces and make them myself just for fun, and they had everything I needed in one stop – the vases, flowers, ribbons, glitter, and all that. Prices are good but I learned later that they have really good coupons, so that would make the prices even better!
We found everything we needed at Michaels and got a great deal by using their 40% coupons for just about everything.
We purchased our favor boxes from Michael's. Our colors were black and white with sage green as an accent. We purchased 300 little boxes (150 black and 150 white). They were considerably less than other vendors that I looked at. They looked nice too (of course!). Brides brand.
And of course... we used coupons to get an even better deal.
I was originally going to have the invitations made. I went to Broadway Paper first to look at stationary, but the prices were through the roof! I understand that the paper may be of great quality, but (to me) it was just paper. I went to Wal-mart, and then I went to Michael’s Arts and Crafts and found a wedding invitation kit that I really liked. It cost less than $150 (and an extra $10 to have the ink cartridge refilled) for 3 boxes/150 invitations, with RSVP cards. The price that I was quotes at some professional printers for 150 invitations was between $1.50 and $3.00 an invitation card, not including the RSVP card or the seating card. In all, I saved at least $75 on invitations by buying a nice invitation kit (nice, but not cheap at $50 a kit!) and making the invitations myself. To put it into some sort of perspective, $75 dollars is the difference between a nice and a beautiful veil.
Check your local crafts stores that have wedding items. Even if they don't have a wedding aisle look up books for DIY wedding favors. We had a blast making ours withing months of the wedding and everyone knew they were handmade and cherished them that much more!
I love making things by hand if I can, so I decided to try my hand at making centerpieces. I got everything I needed, plus good advice, from Michaels. Super friendly staff, well stocked inventory.
Michaels is the best. I bought tons of decorations for my wedding and saved a ton of money by doing things my self. I'm glad I had the time. Use Michaels as a first resource.
This store is full of little goodies waiting to be put together. I made all the party favors.
I had a very good experience there. They have a wide selection in their "wedding" section and they also have beautiful things all throughout the store that I have found.
Michaels is just FABULOUS! Not only do they accept expired coupons, but the coupon discounts are amazing! I got everything there that I needed for our wedding decor and flowers over a course of several weeks, and was very pleased with everything. Got the supplies needed to create the pomander ball for my flower girl to carry, all of our vases and candles, frames, ribbons, and etc. With the discounts that I got, I saved a bundle, which I was VERY happy about!
They have nice veils in their wedding section...we bought the basic white two-tier, cut one layer off, then bought swarovski crystals which my mom glued on - after steaming it it looks just as good as the store-bought crystal veils, but for about 10% of the price.
If you are looking to save a little bit of money on your Big Day. Be sure to check out Michaels Crafts before you buy anything. There are a lot of items you can buy at Michaels and do yourself pretty easily. Especially if you have 150 or under in terms of guests. Check it out, it will save you money just like I did!
I decided to save money and make my own invitations. They were long and skinny with ribbon across the top. Printed on cream, and mounted on colored cardstock. We got the cardstock at michaels for a great deal. it was more work, but the price made it worth it.
My aunts and sister decided that they would be in charge of decorating the table with pictures of Mike and I, along with a second table with the guest book and where the guests could find their seating cards. They got in their mind to have a beach themed table, I guess because Mike and I would be going to Fiji on our honeymoon. They poured down a base of brown sugar, which looked like sand, and they made these cute little wooden sun chairs out of small wooden sticks. Each chair had an umbrella with the guest’s name on it and the number of the table they were sitting at. It was really cute seeing all these small chairs, and most of the guests took the umbrellas and popped them in their drinks afterwards, which was pretty cool to see. They made sandcastles out of the sugar, too, it was nicely done and it was obvious that they put a lot of time into making those chairs and setting it up.
We searched the large wedding department at Michael's for a wedding party favor idea and found that they had little clear bags you could put together and place small candies in. We purchased the bags from them, along with the supplies to create a hand made label for each bag. We were able to use coupons on our order and saved about $20. They are good with coupons there. If you don't have one they usually let you sign for one. The have great ideas to start from there and we appreciated that because we are not the most "crafty" people, but we wanted our favor to be hand made and heartfelt. A perfect combination and a perfect favor!
I made cute little treat bags, glasses got everything here for a good price.
Center pieces - great do it yourself prices. Save hundreds if you are creative. Bought large glass vases, a few plastic branches, flowers, colored rocks, and filled with water. Gave great height to the room. This was for a luncheon at the cynogogue for the bride and groom. Came out beautiful, looked like a professional did it. They would have charged us $125 per table. I bought for 20 tables - had 200 guests. Great selection!
Thanks to the new trend of Scrapbooking, Michael’s has a HUGE selection of nice papers, rubber stamps, colourful ribbons, and interesting wedding invitation ideas. With the creative ideas they give you, I was able to make some beautiful invitations at a very low cost. They also offer classes and tools for scrapbooking, so you can make a memento of the wedding later. Be careful of the Martha Stewart section though – some really nice materials, but the prices are nearly triple what the other supplies in the store are. Just go to a different aisle for the same stuff at a way better price. Also, remember to buy more than what you will need, because you will make mistakes if you’re DIYing it!
I bought all of our vases for the centerpieces from Michaels. They had the best prices, and I even got some packing material from the store so that everything would arrive in one piece. It looked great with the fresh flowers I bought.
I found a do-it-yourself wedding invite kit which included everything. They also send out 40% off coupons everyweek. They have a big bridal section
Thanks to my mother in law my flowers were all beautiful and very inexpensive. We bought all of the fake flowers from Michaels. We ordered ribbon online and had our name son the ribbon. I can't find the name of the ribbon place though. Anyway get yoru flowers from Michaels, it saveed me a ton of money.
I chose to buy decorations right after christmas, including christmas balls and paint the inside then put clear labels on the front with our names and date on the front. These were cheap favors and they helped alot with getting alot the materials.
I knew I didn't want to spend a lot on our invitations. We walked around Michaels for a few minutes, debated a few more over which packs of invitations to buy, and never looked back! We printed them ourselves and we were happy! Great quality and a great price!
We got so much of our wedding details and decor from Michaels! Their prices are very reasonable and they have a great variety of items at high quality!
I wanted unique wedding invitations that would go well with my colours, brown and pink. I found the most perfect set from Michael's craftstore in Whitby, ON. I spent a total of $90 for 90 invitations! You can go to flyerland.ca and print 40% off coupons for any regular priced item at Michael's. That helped me save ALOT of money!
I love crafting and what's a more feel good thing than doing your own Wedding Scrapbook. Michael's has been my one stop shop for all the crafting supplies I have ever needed. They have great stuff for cheap prices.
They always have a dollar rack with stationary, knick-knacks, etc...
Found packs of 10 Thank You cards for one dollar!
Found our flower girl baskets and ring bearer pillows at Michaels! They were perfect and very reasonably-priced.
We got the supplies necessary for our invitations and some of our other decor and favors. Their prices were within our budget and the quality was good.
Our wedding was very much DIY! If it was able to be done by myself, I did it! We were able to save some money, which was great for our pockets and definitely made our wedding more personal.
We printed our own invitations, which ended up being cheaper than having them professionally done. They were beautiful and we were very thankful for the price and the way they turned out. We also included an engagement picture to go with them so people could put it up on their refrigerator and have it as a memento.
I GOT ALL MY FLOWERS HERE. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE ALL THE BOUQUETS MYSELF WITH THE INSTRUCTIONAL BOOKS THEY HAVE. THERE HELPFUL AND VERY NICE WHEN IT COMES TO HELPING YOU FIND WHAT YOU NEED.
Love the people at Michael's. Just tell them that you are getting married and trying to save some money and they will do whatever they can to help you out. They have so much do it yourself stuff in their ever growing wedding section. It is definitly worth your time to go by there.
Was able to get all the paper, punches and envelopes (reply cards and thank you card envelopes-go after christmas when all the xmas cards are on super cheap-use the envelopes!)
I bought the invitation cards from Micheals and it was much cheaper than having them made by someone. I just photocopied the design and lettering on to the cards and saved tons of money!
This store has so many things that a DIY bride can use that is also very budget friendly. I know that I will be utilizing them for my special day
For a DIY wedding, Michael's has a LOT to choose from. Flowers, candles, ribbon, candle holders, they even have material for veils if you want to make that on your own. I even got some favors for my bridesmaids from here. They had black tote bags that said "Bridesmaid" in really pretty letting done completely in rhinestones. They have a whole entire bridal section especially for DIY brides!
For our favors, I chose to go the do it yourself route. Michaels is really great for this sort of thing, as they have all kinds of crafty items. If you know you want to "do-it-yourself" but have no idea what you want to do, you can just walk up and down the aisles browsing for ideas. I was doing just that when I saw the little chinese take out boxes in bright spring colors. I loved them, but they didn't have enough for all my favors. I was able to put in an order with the manager who collected them for me from other stores in the area, and I just came back to pick them up later. It was perfect! The only complaint I have about michael's is that their employees seem to dislike working there. However, if you don't mind that their service is great!
Perfect place to get pretty invitations that don't cost a fortune.
so much to choose from, but not much that didn't look too corney. Wanted to get my unity candle holders there...they had 2 pieces of a 3 piece set....=\
For our favors we did home made Candies from Michael's craft store. We decided to make our own chocolate candies for the favor and it was fun because we could do it a week before the wedding and the chocolate stayed fresh and we weren't stressed over finishing anything last minute. They turned out really delicious and everyone loved them. We purchased cellophane bags to put them in and they were so cute! It was a hit!
Michaels is a good place to get silk flowers that will last a lifetime. Instead of spending money once on real flowers, you can spend that same amount for flowers and decor that you can use again and again. Individual silk flowers also give you the opportunity to be creative, and make unique arrangements and bouquets. It's fun and relieves a bit of stress whenever you get to sit down and make your own bouquets. It also gives you bragging rights whenever they turn out well. $300 for all of the flowers used was not a bad deal either. My tip is to pick up ads or keep an eye out online for whenever silk flowers are 20% off, or discounted in any way.
We decided to do a lot of the decorations ourselves and Michaels was the best place for us to do that. They had everything that we needed and the coupons that came in the mail every week were a big help in saving money. Their website had a lot of good ideas and helpful instructions that made everything really easy. The floral person was hard to reach as she didn't work hours that were easy for someone who works during the day.
We purchased everything we needed to decorate. Yes you have to put a little more time and thought to put this stuff together but it is so affordable that you can't pass it up. After you put together something yourself you will feel so accomplished and when your guest ask you where you purchased your center pieces, You can say " Oh those. I made them"
I made personal favor for the little one's coming a champagne glass with a ribbon made them feel apart of it
i got everything for the save the date booklets (desitnation wedding) and the boxes for the almond candy. they were very helpful.
The favors at Michael's are great. They have little boxes and ribbons that allow you to be creative with your favors. For instance, you can buy little white boxes, put a ribbon to match the colors of your wedding, and put some candy in them -- all for much cheaper than ordering this online.
Surprisingly local craft store had some beautiful brown boxes in the wedding section along with tons of other cool stuff... the boxes were what I put the favors in and they really made the place look elegant and sophisticated with their chocolate top and bottom with matching ribbon!!!
If you need beautiful fake flower arrangements and any supplies for your crafty wedding ideas, micheals is the place. They must have the most beautiful and varied fake flower selection in the city. They also have bouquet ribbon and holders.. wonderful for the d-y-i-er. Thumbs up.
My mother-in-law and I visited our local Michaels to come up with decor options. We were actually doing very well on our own until a salesperson approached us to "try" to help. She didn't listen to our needs AT ALL and continued to pull out NUMEROUS items after I had told her we needed to be putting things away because we needed to leave. I couldn't put them away as fast as she was pulling them out. VERY FRUSTRATING...
Well we finally got out of there that night and were told to see the person who had floral experience the next day between 10 - 4 p.m.
Trip #2
We go to floral and ask for the associate whom had been recommended and are told she isn't working. We were also oh so blatantly chastised for leaving things on her work table. At that point I flat out told her that the associate was pulling out things faster than I could put them away.
Wow am I supposed to clean up after them????? I am the customer after all? Too bad we don't have a Hobby Lobby in my town!
I think I may return my purchases after typing this because I just realized they don't deserve my measly $75.
I decided to do little welcome baskets full of goodies for each of our guests. Michael's had great stuff for these and the prices were so good that I could afford to do this for everyone.
Did my own invites. I suggest that you have them professionally done. Would have saved some sanity! Bought the Bride invites, nice but stressful.
We went to Michaels for the decorations. Since I got married in the fall we had fall leafs in the window seals and had fall table arrangements on the table. Everyone loved them and thought they looked great.
I found everything that I needed to ake all of the floral arrangements, wedding invitations and they offered great tips!!!
I would definitely give Michaels five stars! I was there at least once a week while planning my wedding. Everything from toule to place cards. I made my thank you notes, programs, table cards, seating cards, card stands, decor and I'm sure a million other things that I'm forgetting right now. They did accept my expired coupons as well, and as much as I tried to clear them out (joke) they always seemed to be in stock. Especially the one in Fairfax, by the BJs wholesale club. I also got a lot of great ideas for my wedding by just browsing through the aisles. I highly recommend any new bride taking a stroll down their aisle.
There is such a good selection for do it yourself invitations,we definitly got a good selection and ideas from this store.
Oh my gosh, I think I spent my whole life here in the three months before my wedding. But it was a lot of fun to see all the different things that you could do and try to figure out ways to put your own personal touch on your wedding. I made my own party favors from Michaels (toile wrapped around m&ms that had our names on them in the shape of a hard candy) and got my own printable invitations that turned out great! I couldn't have asked for anything prettier, and it wasn't as stressful as trying to send in your information to a company and hope it comes out right! I also got my programs from here and materials to make table numbers and centerpieces. And probably a million other little things that I can't remember. They have a GREAT wedding aisle
My mom found some great things for favors here. She bought some pebbles and placed them in margarita glasses with a little bit of water, then place an unopen rose in it, which by the time the ceremony was over, had opened up to completely cover the top of the glass. They were truly beautiful!
I totally love scrapbooking and making cards. My husband calls this "playing with paper". Anyway I made nearly anything folded or printed from materials that I bought at my local Michaels. My local store has a lady that does classes now and again about wedding design stuff and she is really great. I heart Michaels.
I got my envelope holder for gifts here! It was a great deal! It also came with a beautiful wedding notebook for people to sign!
I helped make all the invitations and the party favors using Michaels. People were actually asking where we purchased the invitations because they looked so good. The wedding had a beach theme and the bride lives in Norfolk, VA so she collected tiny shells that we added to personalize the favors. I'm so glad we decided to get together and make these -- it was so much more personal and it made us feel even more a part of the ceremony and the results were so profesional!!!
I must have went to our local Michaels like EVERY WEEK!! I overdid it on the DIY projects, so Michaels became like my best friend. (I always walked out with several more tubes of GLUE!!) Their prices were great and they have a wonderful variety of items. Plus, their staff was very helpful in offering advice and I even took a few classes and learned so much that helped with our wedding!
We made the rice bags out of glitters mesh cloth that we got from here. We then bought rice from the grocery store and used ribbon that we also got from here and tied them in these little knots. We gave them to the people as they walked out the church and they threw rice at us when we came out. Quick note –do not be mad if you have rice in your hair!
I love Michael’s! I am a huge DIY girl, so I was at Michael’s just about every week for four month’s before our wedding. They had everything I needed to make the table numbers, programs, and so much more.
I walked into Michael's hoping to find flowers for the big day. I walked in and saw my centerpieces that I had to have! I didn't know what I wanted until I saw what I purchased and couldn't have been happier with their prices!
Michaels is the best place to go for everything for your wedding, especially if you are doing it yourself. I was on a tight budget, so I had lots of silk flowers. Everyone said they were beautiful. I got all my flower petals for the flowergirl and decorations there at super good prices because they always have sales on everything! Check them out!
We bought most of our favors here because I had coupons. It’s very reasonably priced and does not appear cheap. The customer service is not that great. I spent some time trying to get someone to help me and once I did she didn’t know much. It appeared as though they were understaffed. I would recommend going online first or going with someone with experience in the arts and crafts department.
Michael's craft store is amazing! I got my invitations there and they turned out great and were very inexpensive.
Bought 4 boxes from the brides collection and used the 50% off coupons and saved more than half of the cost of getting them done. To be honest a lot of people do not keep your invites so why spend alot of money on them. They are half the cost and you can always add your own little flare to them, verses paying to get them done and everything has its cost including envelopes its crazy. These all come complete with everthing you need...check out the brides collection in invites at micheals...save your coupons
Everyone knows this store and I've used it for years just for various craft projects, but it's really worthwhile to just walk around and see what they have that you might be able to use for your wedding. HUGE money-saver!
This store was made for party favors! We were able to buy everything from a very pretty cake display, to confetti, to tiny little bottles that hold the bubble soap (for when we left the church). We also got place cards, which I thought was rather helpful! I don’t think that people expect wedding favors, or small souvenirs, but I liked that we were able to give each guest a token and memory of our special day. We chose these small chocolate boxes. Tiny, but cute (and practical, because they could eat it).I would say to check it out, and know that you can always add your own personal touch to anything.
There’s this whole subculture set up around DIY weddings, that I felt I should spend an entire weekend gluing ribbons and beads on cards with my maid of honor. We spent about an hour in Michaels, at least an hour, looking at all the different invitations. In the end, we picked some very nice Martha Stewart kits (pink for the bachelorette party, green for the save the date, and then blue for the wedding). They have many kits to choose from, and we were lucky and could get some stuff on clearance. It took lots of time printing them up, making sure they went in the right envelopes, but it was fun and I think it’s totally part of the process.
Oh my goodness, I love Michael's! This is an awesome store for DYI projects. We got a lot of our flowers and tulle from Michael's.
This place is wonderful for buying almost everything you need for your wedding. I bought all of my invitations, bubbles, candles, stickers, garters, ribbons and baskets here! I wish I had my bouquets made here because then they would last forever!:)
We bought candles and voltive holders at Michael's and asssembled them ourselves. We bought nearly 120 and they got us boxes and padding to keep them safe.
Michael's is an arts and crafts store that also has lots of wedding favors and d.i.y. items for weddings. I found some really cheap, classic, and simple save the date cards that I printed on my home computer very quickly. If you're on a budget and don't mind doing some things yourself they have a nice selection.
Definitely put this on your list if you're planning your wedding. They have all kind of stuff. They even have coupons in the newspaper each week.
We hit the jackpot at Michaels. Got favor boxes and the guest sign in book. They're really good about bringing in merchandise from other stores, but it takes a long time.
I got my invitations, programs, and favors here. Great prices and great quality. Couldn't have asked for anything better!
We planned a Destination Wedding from Jersey, and we only invited 25 people, so we didn't want our invitations to be expensive or fancy. It was actually my husband who found the invitations at Michaels one day when he went to run an errand for his sister. They were beautiful, and he said that they were on sale! All we had to do was plug whatever we wanted to be printed, and sent it to our printer! No fuss, no problems!
Check out the invitations you can make yourself and design every step of the way at Michaels craft stores. They look great, the price is pretty good and the invitations are simple to set up at the store.
Michaels is the perfect place for the do it yourself bride. I got all my stuff for my shower invations to, wedding invations, center pieces, and wedding favors and they turned out beautiful. All you have to do is go to the wedding isle it is that easy, and just be creative. It saved a lot of money
Michaels is such a great store! They have so many crafts and other supplies needed for any event. Was very happy when I purchased ribbons, signature book and flower girl baskets from Michaels. They always have coupons that helped save me money!
very useful for more artsy-do-it-yourself-type-things. a lot less costly than professionally doing it, although this is a lot more time-consuming and less personal/unique. i've used michaels products to design invitations to winterballs/proms before, and gotten positive responses from guests.
I bought my invitations here. They're the kind you do yourself on your home computer, which is a great money saving tip. They are reasonably priced, easy to do, and they have many really nice ones to choose from.
Great selection on almost any type of favors. Great prices when buying alot. Great sales! Beautiful invitations and thank you cards as well.
This store has so much! I got my place cards there and sign in book and lots of crafty items for decor. Definately check them out before going elseware.
WE bought the most beautiful invitations from micheals. Black and white with red from the bridal series. They folded with places for cards- hotels, rsvps, etc.
We are making our own invitations and save the date cards. So far the hardest part is addressing and sending. We have them all printed out. It took awhile but we just found some really nice invites at Michael's craft store.
I went here to get wedding invitaions that you can print yourself. You can get a whole batch of them and then decorate them to add your own style at a fraction of the cost of going through a card company. Also, you can buy rubber stamps and ink to add embellisments or ribbon as well!!!! Very economical!! (Also, take advantage of the 50% off coupons that come in the mail and save even more!!!!)
We have decided to print our programs ourselves especially since we are creating very detailed programs. We are having a Catholic ceremony and the majority of my guests are not Catholic so we have decided to put a program booklet together with all of the words. The Knot has been very helpful as I plan my wedding with the many vendors who are involved with the site. Michaels is one of the vendors and they have a lot of great do-it-yourself ideas. I pull our simply, yet elegant program design from Michaels and look forward to creating the perfect program for our wedding. I plan to start printing early next year, so my final review will come around April.
We picked out our unity candle and taper candles, and also bought the isle runner from this store. Great prices and selection of bridal and wedding day needs.
I LOVE making things/working on crafty projects, so I knew right off the bat that I would be a DIY kinda bride! I searched online for the right invitations, and went to Michaels to buy the supplies I needed to recreate it all! They came out so beautiful and WAY less than buying them retail. I also bought all the supplies for our centerpieces and our decor, and it was put together beautifully by our coordinator! Other items that I bought and assembled myself for our wedding from Michaels were the baskets for our Flower Girls, the pillow for my son (Ring Bearer), and the pieces needed to put together the bouquets and boutonnieres! Michaels was such a great one-stop-shop!
I know Michael's may not sound like the best place for unique and beautiful wedding invitations, but ours truly were! We got so many compliments on them and they costed much less than making them ourselves or getting them made by an expensive invitation company.
We bought all of the glassware for our centerpieces through Michael's and did our own flowers through Sam's Club. Michael's has half off sales on glassware 3-4 times a year, so wait until they go on sale and stock up for the wedding!
Michael's is nice, but I think you can find just about the same kind of things at Hobby Lobby for sightly cheaper.
I did a lot of my own favors by purchasing items from Michaels and candy from bulk food stores. It was a great experience and I saved a lot of money. If you are going to do the same, sign up for their biweekly flier. I got one every two weeks and they always included a %40 one item coupon. I just made a list of all the things I needed and bought them one at a time with the coupons over about a year. I saved a lot of money and my favors looked great. Also, I may be dorky, but it was kind of a nice experience sitting around with my sister, my mom, and my future mother in law chatting, laughing and eating candy. Honestly, i enjoyed saving money, but that was probably the best part. :)
I'm doing my own decorations and centerpieces, so I hit the after Christmas sale and was AMAZED at the deals (I'm having a winter wedding in Yosemite, so I wanted faux pine needles, pine cones, and red berries)! I got my pew decorations for $0.29 each! If you have the time, go to Michaels at the end of whatever season you need your decorations for. The staff was really helpful as well!
I found the invitations for my wedding on sale for an awesome price! I also got matching menu cards, place cards, and favor boxes. The selection at Michaels is really great for someone who doesn't want to spend a fortune, and if you don't mind taking care of printing the invitations yourself. The color schemes they have there are great, with the basics like black and white, as well as seasonal colors like bright red and orange. I would most definitely suggest that you check this store out to see if they have a great little something to add to your wedding!
If you are planning to do the invitations yourself, I highly suggest a trip to Michael's. This is a large craft store that has a fabulous selection of paper supplies and specialty stamps. Not a bad place to look for favors, either.
Michael's has some great things for the wedding. I got some really cute Thank You cards, and a few other wedding paraphernalia. This I give them 5 stars. I wanted to get some engagement pictures custom framed, the woman there was not helpful, and gave me so much attitude-as if i was bothering her for wanting to get pictures framed. For this, no starts. I ended up at Aaron Brothers instead, and they were great!
I made my own favours. I bought tulle circles and ribbon from Michaels and some glitter glue. I then outlined all my circles with the glitter glue (on wax paper) so the edges (when tied up) all sparkle. It looks beautiful but it was a lot of work.
Inside the circles we are placing 3-4 polished rocks as both my fiancee and I are rock hounds. We bought the rocks pre-polished from a local rock vendor, not Michaels.
Creative table decoration ideas from there. they have pretty nice wedding section as well. Its not huge but it works.
We found wonderful Invites on sale and they were Beautiful...we took them to our own printer and we saved a bundle....
I actually foud my invitations at Michael's craft Store. The invitation packages were $10 each. So, I puchased 90 invitations for $30. The packages included the invitations, envelopes, RSVP cards, envelopes, and a wax sealer with stamp. They were just the right color and all I had to do was print them on my home computer.
This store has a great inventory of party favors. I found exactly what I wanted but needed more and they ordered it for me from another store. Great customer service.
I didnt want real flowers at my wedding in fear that something would go wrong or wouldnt get them on time. So we went to Micheals and they amazing boquets and boutinures for the guys. In all together with a few coupons it was pretty cheap and they last forever.
I love this store to begin with, but wedding stuff is great there. I bought my invitations there, and made them myself. Plus if you bring the coupon in the paper, you get 40-50%off. I think 200 invites cost me $60.00!!!!
We bought invitation kits from Michael's, and they were great! They were not expensive to buy, and it was fun spending time with family to create them. They only had a few design choices, but our theme was "Two Hearts," and that is one of the choices they had.
When it came to our invitations, I wanted these beautiful layered invitations but they were well out of our budget range. So, determined to have those invitations, I set out to creating them myself. Yeah, that took A LONG TIME (was working on 100 invitations over the course of almost 3 months), but in the end it was well worth it! I purchased the ribbon, the cardstock backing and supplies to assemble the invitations from Michaels. I was very happy with everything, especially since they took my expired coupons!
For favors, I found that the do it yourself is so much better if you have the time. I am loving putting things the way I want them. Great selection at Michael's.
fake flowers to make your own arangments for your wedding day i was able to make my flowers and maid of honor and two bridesmaids and also 4 flowers for the boys and even left overs for the flower girls lol that store is amazing and you get to do something and say hey i did that for my wedding
Michaels is ideal for do it yourself projects for the wedding. The employees are really helpful too. I think that the prices are great and you can often find coupons.
My sister-in-law-to-be bought her invitations here in a do-it-yourself section and is able to print & customize them easily at home. it was way cheaper than ordering invites and they look beautiful. lots of choices to pick from.
I just purchased all of the paper, ribbon, decorative hole punch, hot glue gun and sticks at Michael's. They had a great selection of paper and ribbons, so I got exactly what I was dreaming of for the invites!
We were on a budget and one thing that helped us cut costs was doing our own invitations. Michael's craft store has a great selection of "do it yourself" invitations. We got so many compliments! They also typically have matching programs to go with it if you want to have them match. Another trick is to clip the 40% coupons from the newspaper (they usually print them every other week) and then buy when you have a coupon. We were able to buy all of our programs and invitations for a total of $100 by using the coupons and printing them ourselves. We had a friend who did the same thing and had them printed at Kinko's and she said that even having Kinko's print them it was still much, much cheaper than buying invitations from a vendor. If you are looking for a cost cutter Michael's Crafts for your invitations is a huge money saver!
I did my invitations by myself. They came out awsome. I suggest buying them yourself and using ur at home or work printer. it was a lot more cheaper and i could do whatever I wanted to them!
this place has all your craft basicis and some of things that are harder to find in a regurlar craft store but, its a nice place to get things too .
I got fake flowers from Michael's when they were on clearance. I have been picking small things up little at a time. For myself, I will have a real boquet that my fiance's cousin is going to make. It definately saved a lot of money, not to mention they are only going to get thrown away anyway.
Any thing that you can make your self will help the budget. Make sure you use the 40% off coupons to save even more.
There was not much selection here and they were very over-priced. Not to mention we were shopping during the holidays and the store was so busy that no one even said hello to us on the way in OR out.
My wedding we made all the center pieces and favors. Micheals has great things for wedding. We were on a budget and Micheals helped out with alot. They have invitations, favors, and flowers that are great deals. We used coupons every week to also cut on cost.
Michaels has a huge wedding section with everything that you could possibly want!! I bought all my accessories and wedding day needs here!!
This is a great store to buy embellishments & ribbons.
We purchased 150 invitations and seals from Micheal's. I am a DIY type of person so it was really easy for me to design the invitations I wanted. Micheal's had just the perfect look that I was going for and their prices were very reasonable.
we are just getting all of the flowers from Michaels because its way cheaper to use the fake ones that look real then to have real ones! Weddings dont have to be Full of flowers, no one really cares about that! They care about how fun the wedding was!!!
We purchased some flowers from Micheals for wedding decore. The staff was friendly and helpful. However their individual stems are very expensive and there was no bulk deals, so we will be taking the bulk of our floral purchases elsewhere.
I bought many things from this store and made them myself, I saved a lot, plus on sundays paper they always have a 40% discount on a single item, so I did many trips!!
Invitations - buy the pre-cut packages. Send the main cardstock to a local printer (like Staples) and then assemble them yourself. You get the professional look for WAY less. A great place to save a little money that you could splurge toward somthing else. Who needs an inner envelope anyway?
I used them for my bridal shower invitations. I saved a ton of money and they had everything I needed. I made sure I had coupons that I printed online first!
I bought two types of favors at my local Michaels store, and they have tons more to choose from! Everything is well-stocked and low-priced!
We had Beverly from the Michaels store in Cranberry do the large arrangements for the church. She did everything herself and we ended up with two huge pieces that if done in real flowers would have cost atleast grand for about a hundred and fifty bucks. They were simply beautiful!
Additionally, Beverly's work as been featured in at least one prominate bridal magazine. She also has and will do all of the flowers for your wedding (i.e center peices and bouquets). If your wedding is in this area I highly reccommend checking out her work.
If you are into making your own invitations Micheals Crafts is the place to go! They have a great selection for wedding invitations. They also have a great selection of anything else you would like to do yourself
We got our invitations and thank you cards from Michaels and they look professionally done! We couldn't be more happy about how they have turned out and how much money we saved!
Do the invitations yourself! It is so easy and inexpensive and you can pick out the style that best suits your taste or (if you are like me and don't really think that having the cards match perfectly with your color scheme) you can get whatever is on sale.
There are many possibilities and great designs for every taste. The web is also listing most of them so it is very helpful
I'm just a bit crafty and wanted my favors to reflect this. I of course chose Michaels to help make lovely wood wine bottle holders for my wedding party that were paired with bottles of champagne. Michaels helped me with the templates and supplies...They recommended silk flowers and showed me a fantastic stencilling kit that made everyone in my party's gift a truly personal one. I was able to use mini bottles with flowers and small personalized shopping bags for my other guests thanks to the ingenuity of the staff at Michaels. I truly give them an A for customer service and creativity! I think if you love crafts Michaels can help give your wedding that personal touch!
Invites were very important to me, so intially I wasn't sure that I would be interested in doing a DIY kit, but the quality & style of these kits were much better than I expected. For $200.00, I was able to buy invites, place card, table numbers and save the dates for 150 guests and I was very happy with the results.
We did everything by ourselves, so I went to Michaels and bought the items for an archway and the favors. They have a really large selection of flowers that look real and favor ideas. Also, their website was really helpful in deciding what to make.
Not being a very traditional girl, I was happy to do a lot of the seemingly ridiculous and intricate things myself. I found that being charged hundreds of dollars for invitations didn't sit so well with me and my fiance, as we were saving for the future, so to be able to use a great resource like Michael's is a godsend. I got all the stationery I needed, decorative pieces and embossing kits, and was able to afford some little extras to make it that much more individual. Definitely recommended if you're not inclined to break your bank on the big day.
They were AMAZING!! Our theme was black and white and they were the only store that carried anything for weddings in that color.. the Martha Stewart Collection doesn't even have those colors! We got favor bags, crackers, favor boxes and ribbon from there that wasn't available ANYWHERE else. Finding all that great stuff at Michaels actually helped to make our wedding extra quaint and different! Recommend them to anyone!
For our reception, some of our centerpieces were modelled after arrangements we had seen in a fancy hotel. At Michaels, we bought tall cylindrical vases and filled the base with colored glass marbles. We filled the vase with water, and at the top, we placed long stemmed orchids. The orchid pots were hidden by banana leaves (bought from a florist), wrapped around the top of the cylinder. It was elegant and simple... but perhaps not a money saver. Orchids can be pricey, especially if your after a unique look.
Michaels has soo many do it yourself ideas and projects that you can easily do. This will help you save so much money and still look like a million dollars!
I chose the Brides brand ivitation kits for my invitations. They turned out very nicely. I needed to ask for help from someone more computer savvy than myself to print them. That is why I gave it 4 out of 5. However assembling them was a breeze. >everyone loves the invitations so overall a good experience.
I found Michaels to be an excellent choice for getting many of the materials for my wedding. I wanted to do a lot of the items by hand, including invitations, veil, and favors. Michaels craft store had almost everything I could need, however, they are a tad bit pricey and their store employees are fairly unfriendly and not very helpful.
Michaels craft store has almost everything to help personalize your wedding. From invitations to vases to ribbons and more! Lots of ideas to help inspire you as well. Inexpensive way to go if you dont mind doing it yourself.
This hobby store is GREAT!!! Beyond 5 stars. If you want to make your own centerpieces or any thing this is the place to go. Not only do they sell all of the things but they give you great ideas. Fairly inexpensive!
We bought the flowers, ribbons, bubbles, and other stuff for the wedding there. We also found a chest to put our cards in. Very well priced.
We made center pieces with materials from Michaels. The people helped us pick out our materials and showed us the simplest way to make them.
Had everythingi needed to decorate my wedding myself! Absolutely wonderful costomer service, i would reccomend any bride who is planning on a budget to take a gander there!
I got my garter, invitations, and other simple things at Michaels. If you have the time, it is a great way to save some money and have fun.
Michael's has great ideas for favors and a great selection. They also have great ideas that you can find on there website and also in the store magazines. I bought really cute pillow boxes and then bought a stamp and design the front of them and just tied a ribbon and put a thank you note on the front and it was very simple but elegant and didnt cost very much. Inside I made little bite size candies that everyone got to enjoy and take home with them. I found all the supply's at Michaels and it didnt even cost me that much and put me way under my budget that I had set aside for favors.
Michael's is where we chose to get materials for the groom's cake. The groomsmen wanted to make the cake personal so they bought the icing and accessories so they could make the cake how they wanted. They had a red velvet cake and colored icing to make a Miami dolphin cake. It was amazing and I was so surprised they were able to do it. Michael's also carried more items for table decorations such as bridal candies and mints along with baggies and ribbon for holding the candies. Michael's was a great store and they had many things to make my wedding perfect.
If you want to save money and do it yourself, this store has everything from favors to invitations, to fancy paper to design your own invitations, plus candy, unity candles, and cake toppers
Do it yourself invitations allowed me to put my own creativity into my invitations while still giving an elegant and sophisticated, professional look.
Anything and everything your imagination can come up with is available at Michael's. I did all my own decorating and Michaels made it possible.
Michael's had everything we needed to do our own things. There was always someone around to suggest items or to help us find what we needed to create everything. I have gone there for everything else since then, birthdays, anniversary's etc. We bought everything for our cake, invites, flowers and more there.
