Mike Blaufeld

Mike was AMAZING and far exceeded our expectations. We had been referred to him from my mom, who had heard of him thru a coworker who had used him for her daughter's wedding. While I was slightly skeptical of this friend of a friend method, I decided to set up a visit and was immediately blown away by his commitment to his job.
From verifying all of our special songs to double checking names (and pronouncements) of our bridal party he made sure that everything about our day was perfect.
The moment our first dance ended our dance floor was rushed with all our guests, and the vast majority of them stayed there until the last dance. He was able to read the mood of our guests and kept playing the music to keep them on the dance floor. Mike was also able to fit our requested songs in and in such a way that they fit with what was going on and didn't seem out of place.
Mike could easily charge more money for his services and still be a bargain, he cares about the couples he is working with and is more than "just" a DJ.

Mike was the most incredible DJ we could have imagined working with. From start to finish - he was extremely responsive and willing to help us in any way that he could. He helped to make our ceremony and reception go perfectly. He was very flexible and listened to every idea we had for the music that we played at the reception. With a young (mostly 20-somethings) reception, Mike kept our guests dancing all night. There are not enough words to show how highly I recommend using Mike. He was truly a pleasure to have as our DJ and we feel so blessed he was apart of our wedding day.

WE LOVED MIKE!! We had an intimate wedding (70ish people) at a downtown DC hotel, and I am sooo glad we were able to find Mike. He was very easy to work with, had great suggestions and he did an amazing job from ceremony to reception. He was one of the first to be there at the wedding location to get the sound system up, and despite our unique requests for songs, he would make sure he had the correct version, share his thoughts about them, accommodate any last minute changes etc. The sound system that he had was amazing as well - the sound was very clear and I loved it. Aside from the ceremony music and the first/last dance songs, we didn't provide any specific song lists, but Mike did a wonderful job making everyone sing along and dance to the songs. It's not as common to get compliments about song choices, DJ and music in general, I don't think, but we got a lot of them. They were asking us how we found the DJ. ;)

Mike did an excellent job at our wedding. He read the crowd well and everyone had a great time. He was hugely helpful when planning, we met to discuss the reception timeline, he gave great suggestions when I needed ideas and made sure everything we wanted in the reception was incorporated smoothly. Where to begin reviewing our fantastic DJ Mike... He did an amazing job, and went above and beyond our expectations. We knew that a great DJ makes or breaks a reception, and we initially contacted Mike because of his great reviews on Wedding Wire. As soon as we met with him we knew he was the one for us. He is extremely professional, experienced, and knowledgeable about weddings and music. He truly cared about what we wanted and what we didn't want. He also helped us create the timeline for our wedding, and executed it all perfectly and smoothly on our wedding day. He is also excellent at reading the crowd and knowing exactly what type of music to play. He knew we wanted a high energy reception with all different types of music to please a variety of ages, and the combination of what he played flowed and transitioned well from one song to the next. There was never a dull moment! Everyone was complimenting him all night and even after the wedding was over. Best of all, Mike came through for us at the last minute when it was too cold for our string trio to play outside for our ceremony. Even though he wasn't originally going to do our ceremony, he arrived early and did it out of the kindness of his heart when we realized the strings couldn't play. He saved the day and we love him for that! I would recommend him to any couple in the DC area who is looking for a professional DJ that provides quality and personalized services!

On my dream day, besides my husband, Mike was a dream-come-true! There aren’t enough adjectives to describe how outstanding his contribution to our wedding was, but here goes: Mike is a class act from start to finish. He is extremely thorough and easy to work with, making the music element of our wedding reception seem effortless. We gained the advantage of Mike’s experience, but he also listened to our preferences and desires. This great chemistry led to an overall outstanding night that resulted in compliments from literally everyone – and these compliments continue today as people continue to tell us how much fun our wedding was! We can’t imagine anyone else doing a more perfect job!

Mike was the DJ at our wedding and he was the perfect choice! We were at ease with him from the moment we met him and liked what he brought to the table so much we recommended him to the groom's sister for her wedding before he even did our wedding. He was accessible and accommodating throughout the process, and worked with our unique music tastes. He was very attentive to every last detail in our meetings with him, and confirmed everything multiple times. The night of the wedding, everything went without a hitch. People wouldn't get off the dance floor and even danced through dinner! When the official dancing began, Mike filled the dance floor with one song, and it was a huge dance floor. At the end of the night, he left people chanting for one more song, which he obliged! We can't wait to hear Mike again at my sister-in-law's wedding in June!

Wow. There is so much to say about Mike. 5 stars just doesn't do him justice. We had considered one other company before deciding to hire Mike. The other company was content with having a quick phone conversation with us...while Mike not only wanted to meet us both in person, but was also willing to go out of his way to meet us at a location that was convenient for us. Music is extremely important to my husband and I and after meeting with Mike, we could tell it was just as important to him...if not more so. We knew after meeting with him that he was definitely the better choice. Mike is so passionate about music and his job and I know that you will not find a more professional DJ out there. We have gotten so many compliments on our chioce of DJ including (but most certainly not limited to) 'Best DJ' and 'Most fun we've ever had at a wedding'. Mike had told us at our meetings (there were 2 and at least 2 phone conversations) that he would read the crowd...and boy did he! When he moved on from oldies and noticed that people were vacating the dance floor...he brought the oldies right back and had us dancing until the night was over...at which point our guests actually started chanting 'One more song!'...he gladly obliged! I could be biased, but I think it was the most fun I've ever had at a wedding! ;) But the compliments from friends and family (even 3 months later) let us know that we weren't the only ones!

To make a long story short (too late!), I can guarantee you, that if you go with Mike, you will not, cannot be disappointed! Mike misses nothing! If it's important to you, then it's important to him. His years of experience make him the best man for the job...without a doubt. Thanks Mike! :)

We felt comfortable with Mike from our first meeting and confident knowing we would not need to worry about the music or the schedule on our big day. He took care of everything for us. We were so impressed with his professionalism, organization and demeanor. He's extremely personable and charismatic and has excellent taste in music. DJ Mike also helped guide us in our special song selections. He had fantastic suggestions and ideas.

DJ Mike promised us that he'd keep the dance floor packed all night long and he sure did. Now, months later, people are still talking about how fun they had at our wedding - and we have the photos to prove it!

Mike was the one vendor at our wedding that absolutely went above and beyond all of our expectations. We met with him three times before the wedding and spoke to him over the phone the week of the wedding to make sure all of the details were perfect. He even made a separate appointment to walk through the space with us to discuss the setup, since he had not been to it in a few years. Mike is extremely detail-oriented, which was obvious upon meeting him. It was also clear that he understood the kind of wedding we wanted and the kind of music we like. What was a surprise was how much fun he made the wedding - we literally had several people separately complement us on the music played during cocktail hour and dinner. They assumed WE had chosen it, but we left that part completely up to Mike. He made a seamless transition from dinner music to really great dance music, with a mix of both classic dance songs and current music, so that guests of all ages were comfortable. We were worried that people might not want to dance, but the dance floor was full the entire night! Working with Mike before the wedding was very easy. He was responsive and attentive throughout the process - absolutely a pleasure to work with. He went through the event schedule with us in 5 to 10 minute increments to make sure he know exactly when and what was happening throughout the night. He was also able to suggest good music to us when we had trouble choosing, but respected our choices when we DID know what we wanted. Last but not least, Mike was not at all cheesy during the wedding. That was important to us. I would not hesitate to recommend Mike to anyone planning a wedding. He helped make our wedding fantastic!

Mike really went above and beyond for us--he had my whole wedding party on the dance floor, from my 3-year-old niece to all my aunts and uncles in their 50s and 60s. This required his excellent taste at mixing my husband's and my favorite songs along with songs he knows work well. He beat-matched seamlessly so we all stayed on the dance floor. Throughout the planning, he went above and beyond by responding immediately to e-mails and phone calls, and even meeting with us at the wedding venue one month before to talk about the set-up (which was very out of his way). He played the music for our ceremony flawlessly, and helped keep on schedule by announcing each piece. I highly recommend Mike to anyone who wants a professional DJ who can independently give you a song list to keep all your guests grooving.

Mike is the best! He read our guests masterfully which resulted in a party that lasted from the moment he introduced the wedding party to the last dance the moment before the party had to end. Everyone from our young nieces and nephews to our grandparents got up and danced. Mike is just the best at what he does and we look forward to working with him again some day.

Mike was absolutely amazing!! From the first day of meeting him/working with him I felt completely comfortable and trusted his expertise. He helped us plan every last detail of the evening, which helped everything run extremely smooth! He was extremely quick with his replies via email as well as phone. When we got to the reception, he was there waiting on us and was ready to get the night started - with the cocktail music already going great. Mike was more than you can hope for in a DJ. He made a great effort to get to know us and our style before the wedding, meeting with us twice before the big event. He was extremely responsive via email and made a flawless and detailed itinerary to ensure the day's events and cues went smoothly. He really acted as our wedding coordinator during the reception and kept in sync with the caterer so that the movement from event to event during the evening went smoothly and when the time was right. I was completely able to enjoy myself and never had to worry what was next because he was on top of it. So many friends and family told me how awesome DJ Mike Blaufeld was that night and for weeks after. We danced the entire night, non stop. The dance floor was always packed and we just had a blast. WHile we originally hired him for 5 1/2 hours, we had so much fun we extended the night an additional hour, and no one even noticed the time flying by. Worth every penny to go with Mike. He's a bit more than a DJ company (but not much), but you get personalized service. And he's willing to go to Annapolis, Baltimore, and the greater DC area. I can't say enough good things about him.

Mike did a great job at our wedding. He met with us twice and called before the wedding to help with the timeline and song choices. He kept the dance floor packed all night. He started with older songs to get the older guests dancing and then played a good mix of 80's music and current songs. When he slowed things down during the cake cutting, he read the crowd and knew to pump things back up again because we definitely wanted to dance! I highly recommend him for your wedding.

I didn't think a DJ could be this good. But Mike lives up to his 5-star reputation. He was easy to work with and responsive to our every need and email. Our guests raved about the music -- he kept them dancing all night long despite the huge venue and beautiful weather. Our wireless mics, complex venue sound arrangement, and handpicked music was executed seamlessly. Mike is the man and you are lucky if you can get him for your wedding.

Mike was wonderful to work with. He is extremely professional and takes a lot of pride in his work. He is a full time DJ who really strives to deliver quality and tailor everything to your wedding day. After the first time we met Mike we knew he was the DJ for us. He takes the time to not only get to know you, but to get a sense of your tastes and explain in detail what he’ll deliver on the wedding day.

Leading up to the wedding on June 25, 2011, Mike setup a time to meet with us and walk through the timeline, the song choices for the first dances, introductions, etc. and discuss the transitions to/from different moments in the night. He’ll also review all of your family’s names to make sure no one is mispronounced. His equipment is state of the art and minimalistic. We had our wedding reception on the rooftop of The Hay-Adams hotel and Mike’s setup was very classy (ie. no large banner, colored lights, disco balls, etc.). Mike sets the tone for the evening and has the natural ability to read the room to feel out what songs to play next. A lot of DJs will simply cue up a playlist and go. Mike also will not play some of the goofier commonly played songs that are popular (ie. YMCA, Macarena, etc.) unless you specifically request it.

Mike was great with our wedding party as we arrived at the hotel and were about to be announced. He came out to greet us as we stepped off the elevator on the rooftop and walked everyone through what the plan was for each pairing to enter the room announced. The last thing on our minds on the wedding day was any concern about Mike and how he would handle MCing/DJing the evening. He was not only professional but very calm and reassuring which keeps you at ease with so many things going on.

Our friends and family have been raving about the music since the reception! Mike kept the dance floor packed all night and really read the room. We never had to worry about what song was next. We even had family who don’t usually dance out on the floor having a ton of fun. His music selections are awesome and though we gave him a few song suggestions, we let him know that we wanted him to read the room and make selections he thought fit the moment. Another thing that really stood out was the way Mike transitions songs. He doesn’t just stop a song and cue up the next tone. He takes one song and has a smooth way of transitioning to the next while keeping the beat going. It keeps the dance floor packed all night!

We HIGHLY recommend Mike for weddings. He could easily be charging a higher fee (as many DJs in the area do). We’re very picky when it comes to quality and service, and Mike exceeded our expectations from our first meeting to the end of the wedding reception! Thank You, Mike!

Mike Blaufeld was recommended by our wedding planner, and what a great choice! Dancing and great music were high on our priority list, and DJ Mike exceeded our expectations! His selection of music during various parts of the reception was great, and the sound system and volume were perfect. When the dancing started, the floor was never empty! I was so happy to have DJ Mike for our June 4th wedding. When we were visualizing our wedding, something that was very important to us was that the dance floor was always full and that guests felt like they were at a "party". Therefore, selecting the appropriate DJ was critical. DJ Mike did a fantastic job. He created the party atmosphere I wanted on the dance floor. In addition, he was a great MC for the entire reception. He did all of our bridal party announcements etc and helped to keep the event on schedule. Another important point, was that he accomplished all this while being otherwise "invisible" to the guests. There was no unnecessary "chatter" on the microphone, etc.

After preparing for my wedding for a year, I felt like Mike was a good friend, he was that great to work with. When the day finally came, he was able to accommodate last minute changes and requests from my husband's family with ease. Our wedding was such a success that the hotel staff continues to talk about the event...the dance floor was packed and at one point every single attendee was on the dance floor. It would definitely not been so successful or memorable without the expertise and professionalism of Mike. By far the best DJ you could choose for your wedding!

My husband and I were so happy that we picked Mike to be our DJ. He was easily able to accommodate our request for music in 3 different areas of our hotel wedding. He was very responsive to email and helped to create a time line for my wedding day that kept things moving without feeling too rushed or too slow. We could not have asked for a better DJ then Mike for our wedding! Mike was a pleasure to work with. His quick response time and pre-wedding planning exceeded our expectations. He took the time to sit down and plan our entire reception with us and even called us the week before the wedding to rehearse the names of the bridal party so he would pronounce them correctly.

At the reception we received a lot of compliments about his choice of music during our cocktail hour and during dinner. The best part about Mike, no cheesy stadium style announcements. He runs the night on a tight schedule and we always felt like he had everything under control so we didn't have to worry about it. Once the dancing portion of the evening started, our dance floor was full until the reception was over. His mix of music was great, no dead air with his beat mixing, and our 9 year old cousin and 90 year old grandfather even danced most of the night.

Bottom Line: Mike is low maintenance so you can worry about other things. He runs the show so you don't have to worry about it. He tailored the music selection to fit our crowd perfectly. Compared to other DJ's we looked at, he is a great value in terms of what you get for the price.

I remember not too long ago, reading the comments on here, wondering if it were possible for a vendor to have such good reviews and really deliver! Some seemed too good to be true-but they were definitely accurate. My husband and I both (along with our families) wish we could give Mike more than 5/5! Not only did he provide the music for our wedding reception, but the ceremony as well. He did this in two separate locations, and you would never suspect he did this all alone, as a one man operation. 100% Professional. All I have been hearing about the reception is how great the music was and how the dance floor was always packed. I am not sure about other bride/grooms, but what we were most concerned with, is our guests enjoying themselves. They absolutely did and I know it was a result of an excellent DJ, playing great music from start to finish. I was never once concerned with what was playing, becuase I knew Mike had it under control. From the first meeting that we had with him, we knew he was perfect for the job. Us, being very unorganized and wishy-washy- we needed someone to go above and beyond DJ services, but to help keep the flow of the schedule through the night. Mike told us from the initial meeting that he would take care of the "when to do this and announce that and start this" etc. He followed through wonderfully. He was so helpful that it's almost unfair to only call him a DJ as he was practically our coordinator! I read in other reviews about how he read the crowd so well and paid attention to detail (making sure he had everyone's names correct and so on) and they are completely dead on. I can promise that you will not be dissapointed if you select Mike as your DJ. I know we feel it was our BEST choice of all our vendors (and they were all pretty perfect). Mike was outstanding! All we wanted was a great party and he delivered! Our guests never stopped dancing and they were telling us during and after the reception how great our DJ was. Mike is professional and experienced. He knows how to listen to what you want and make it happen. We met with Mike a few times, spoke on the phone, and corresponded over email. He was always enthusiastic, helpful, and responsive. He gave us suggestions for entrance songs and parent dances. He emailed us the version of our first dance song to confirm that it was correct. He checked and doubled checked the names and pronunciations of the bridal party so that everything was perfect. He made sure we knew how the flow and progression of the music would go the night of the wedding and that we were happy with it. He's really able to read the crowd and follow their lead. We also had Mike do the the cocktail hour and he was able to provide the equipment and music for that. Toward the end of the night, we weren't ready for the party to end, and he was happy to keep us happy and keep playing! Mike was an integral part of making out wedding the best day of our lives and the talk of our friends and family for a long time to come. We definitely recommend him!

Mike was amazing, from the first phone call I could tell that he "gets it" and was on board with my needs. He was eager to help me and offered advice on many aspects of our reception. He was higly reliable and I felt like I had a "friend" being my DJ. There were a lot of positive comments after our wedding and many of those had to do with Mike and the "great music" and "friendliness" he displayed. I would reccommed Mike HIGHLY and will miss dealing with him.

DJ Mike was outstanding. He was very professional, showed up on time for our scheduled meetings, and answered any questions we had. Where do I begin? From my very first phone call with Mike, all the way to the end of my reception, Mike was the PERFECT choice for DJ for our August wedding. From the beginning, Mike wanted to understand who we are as a couple, and he wanted to honor our musical tastes, but still fulfill my wish to help us throw the "best party ever". He not only DJ'd our reception, but he was in charge of a TON of very specific music for our ceremony, and fulfilled each and every request we had for the ceremony, no matter how obscure. He even went so far as to send me sample songs to make sure he had all of our non-traditional choices correct. He was extremely accommodating with our vocalist and his background music, and brought so much extra equipment so that our guests could enjoy the reception music outside on the terrace. He also had no problem supplying two extra microphones for our "surprise performance" during the reception. There was never a time where you even knew Mike was there, unless he had to say something. He just facilitated a terrific dance environment, and made subtle music adjustments according to his reading of the crowd. Even the venue vendor commented on how Mike was one of the BEST DJs she had ever worked with. Mike is truly a class act, and I really left my wedding feeling like Mike wasn't just a vendor, but really an extended member of our family. I can never thank him enough for what he did to make my wedding and my day everything I dreamed it could be. Thank you, Mike, thank you so much.

Mike was fantastic to work with! He began by meeting us out and reviewing what we were looking for in the music department. That was great for us becase we were trying to appease many generations of guests and wanted to make sure our Dj could handle switching from different types of music to the next. I was on a budget for my wedding and he was very flexibile and willing to work with us in our budget so we would be able to have a great event. As the wedding got closer we met again and he helped us craft a timeline, come up with first dance songs and even went above and beyond to help me select and time music to a slideshow I put together. He was so easy to work with and really seemed to care that the wedding went off well. I received so many compliments on the music and people were dancing until the very end when it was time to go. He was able to appease the teenagers all the way up to the grandparents which was very important to us. Everyone who came to our wedding said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. I am a corporate event planner and I deal with dj's for events all the time and I really enjoyed working with Mike more than any other event I have ever worked on. I really believe the music made the atmosphere and Mike made it all happen and come together. I couldn't be more pleased with the result and I am so glad we chose him. I strongly recommend Mike for your upcoming wedding!

Mike is classy, responsive, very professional and really knows his music. We contacted some other DJs and you just got the sense they were not very professional. You had the feeling you might hire them, maybe they would show, maybe not, or maybe they would send someone else the day of the wedding. We wanted to know who would be there on the day of the wedding.

From the minute we talked with Mike we knew he was the real deal. My daughter and her fiancé met with him and other DJs and there was no question who they wanted – DJ Mike.

My daughter’s husband is himself an amateur DJ and knew immediately DJ Mike was the only one he wanted for the reception.

They both said from the start, Mike made them feel comfortable and helped them tremendously with the overall planning – the dance sequence, who was to be introduced, when etc. They were not really sure how they wanted the evening dancing and introductions to go and they said Mike was great at giving them options to choose from. They both said they would have been lost without his professional guidance.

Mike served as the MC for the evening and was wonderful. There was not one slip the entire evening. It is hard to get everything to run so smoothly and this is totally thanks to all of the preparations DJ Mike did before the wedding with my daughter and her now husband. We could not have asked for more from DJ Mike.

The day after the wedding, at the Sunday Wedding Brunch, that was all anyone could talk about – what a great time they had dancing and how great the music was. Mike had a lot of competition with a gorgeous outdoor setting with a full moon overlooking the Potomac, But his music kept pulling everyone inside to the ballroom and they ended up “literally dancing in the windows,” behind shades, in front of shades. It was hilarious for all to see. Best entertainment of the night. Without a doubt some of the best photos and the video will be of the girls and guys up in the 5 huge windows dancing to DJ Mike’s music.

My daughter, her husband and their friends also said how they liked that he did not talk, saying a lot of silly things like many DJs will do, monopolizing the time. My daughter and her husband are in their very early 30s and knew they did not want anything "Cheesy." Mike delivered everything they wanted -- continuous, seamless great music, -- all tailored to the exact music selections made earlier with the bride and groom.

Simply put, choosing Mike as our DJ was the best decision we made with our vendors. He truly loves his work and brings a level of professionalism that is to be admired. One of the best services Mike provides is the creation of a personalized timeline for your reception. This was a huge help, especially since we were planning our own wedding. He is very flexible and will give you his honest advice about song suggestions and transitions throughout the evening. We only gave him two or three "must play" songs, which is the way to go. Forcing too many songs into a fixed play list can kill the atmosphere if they don't fit with the mood of the event. With his knowledge and experience with events, we were able to trust his ability to gauge the dance floor and play the right songs at the right time. I'm not a picky person, and I don't care what color the napkins are, but what I do care about is the party, and how my guests are going to feel when they leave. I usually don't do these things, review places, and people but this was an exception.

My wedding consisted of 550 guests, and my family is a very socially envolved group that is extremely critical of events they attend. When it was time for me to find a DJ the pressure was on that I would have to find one that could handle that many people, as well as please the parental expectations.

From the start of our first meeting, I knew I was going to be in good hands. From his calmness and coolness you can tell he's been doing this for a while. And from his smile, and the way he speaks, you know he'll bring the party out in people. I continued email correspondence about timelines, songs, etc. We scheduled another meeting closer to the wedding date, which was awesome because I'm that person who wants to meet face-to-face make sure everything is ok. Even the days leading up to the wedding, Mike made sure to call me to clear up name pronouciations.

Wedding Day. You never know how good your DJ is until you start hearing the feedback from your guests. I had 550 people coming to me and my parents throughout the night and the next day asking who this DJ was! It wasn't that he said cheesy lines that made people laugh, or came on the floor leading line dances, it wasn't any of those at all because he didnt do any of that. Instead, he said it all in his music. From the start of opening the dance floor until the end of the night, it was packed with people and everyone loved it.

Mike was without a doubt more than an outstanding DJ, more than an articulate and professional MC, he was also our go to man for assisting in planning the entire reception! He ran the show and elegantly kept us informed of his plans and suggestions, but when I wanted to go a different way, he gracefully obliged. Mike went far and beyond our expectations, and I have not even gotten to the part about EVERYONE telling us that we had the most fun wedding they had ever been to before. We also had a blast! I give the credit to DJ Mike.

Seriously, Mike’s DJ mastery was so easy to see and hear… the dance floor was packed all night with all ages, from old farts getting down to 4-year old b-boys impressing all the girls break-dancing on the dance floor. Oh… and the beat matching transitions between songs were sick and kept the dance floor rolling!!

DJ Mike was our DJ at our wedding on April 24, 2010 at the Westin in Alexandria VA. He was outstanding. Before dinner was even served, our guests were up and dancing. There wasn't one moment throughout the evening that the dance floor wasn't full of people. His selections ranged from older songs that kept our parents and their friends dancing, to newer hits that kept our friends going until the very end of the evening. Mike was extremely flexible and came prepared with specific and unique songs that I requested as well as quickly responded to an 'one more song' chant from the guests after the official last song. He was professional, responsive and extremely easy to work with in the planning. I highly recommend DJ Mike.

How do I even begin to say how wonderful it was to work with Mike for our wedding? It was an absolute pleasure, from start to finish. First and foremost, it is SO very obvious that DJ Mike loves what he does. His enthusiasm showed through in every interaction we had with him. His professionalism was outstanding! In addition to our first meet and greet with Mike, we had multiple phone conversations to discuss music choices and overall feel for the night. Next, as we got closer to the big day, we met again to go over details in person and on top of that, Mike called twice before the big day to simply go over names of our bridal party and to check in! I was so pleasantly surprised! I had every confidence that our big day was going to go off without a hitch. And it did!

Our one request for Mike was to make sure that the party was hopping all night. We had a young crowd for our wedding and wanted to play to that for sure. Mike delivered 100%. The dance floor was hopping all night. What was more, Mike got to know us and our music taste so well. Every song that was played was perfect (and we are pretty picky and have very unique music taste--from country to club). My best memory from the night was the last 3 songs he played. The dance floor was packed, completely. Every one was having the time of their lives and no one left the floor until the last song was played. It was everything we wanted the night to be.

Lastly, as the friends and family called in the following week to debrief about the big day, time and time again the music and DJ were brought up. Every guest commented on how Mike kept the party going better than any other wedding they had attended. Mike made the night what it was, and we couldn't possibly thank him enough for what he did for our big day!

When people say that a DJ can either make or break your wedding reception, they are absolutely right–and DJ Mike definitely made our reception the fun and memorable event that we hoped it would be! When I contacted him, he was immediately responsive and we discussed our venue, equipment needs and musical preference; He was very thorough and instantly put my nerves at ease. On the big day he came early to set up his equipment including wireless speakers and a lapel mic, which were perfect for our venue and event. Mike was super fantastic. Mike is very professional and can read a crowd. His selection of music kept the dance floor hopping the entire wedding. More importantly, in addition to his music-capabilities, Mike provided us with added invaluable services. For instance, Mike suggested and then prepared a schedule of activities (as we didn't have a wedding planner), which we then gave to the restaurant, photographer, etc. In other words, the folks that needed to know, did know, when the first dance would take place, the toast would occur, the hora would be played, etc. This truly was a godsend that we had not anticipated. Additionally, our ceremony took place outside in a courtyard and Mike provided microphones so that the officiant and bride/groom could be heard. This, too, was invaluable as our guests would have not been able to hear the ceremony had Mike not arranged that. All-in-all, you can't go wrong with Mike for your DJ.

DJ Mike is absolutely awesome! The songs he selected to play at our wedding were impeccable and had our guests (and us!) dancing all night long. So many people have told us it wasn't just a wedding, it was a huge party/celebration and I really believe that's because of DJ Mike. He has one of the best personalities I've seen, is accommodating to any special requests and always timely and professional. Mike was a pleasure to work with. Very professional and easy to talk to. We are so pleased to have had the chance to work with him. He was on the ball with responding to emails and phone calls, and he truly cares about what you want for your wedding.

When we were planning the introductions and time line for our reception, Mike was there helping guide us in the right direction long before our wedding day. We knew what to expect long before and that was exactly how it turned out. The little things you dont realize you have to plan out for a wedding, he makes sure you dont forget it and helps you to the very end. He was also flexible when things didnt go according to plan. A few people were hard to find when it was time for certain moments to happen during the reception, he was calm and was successful at continuing the night smoothly. Our niece wanted to read a poem she wrote for us while she was sitting at the table, he was very accommodating for that as well. When a close friend of mine read a poem I had written for my late father, he was able to pick up and bring everyone back to a happy moment. I had no intention of making it such a sad moment for everyone, but thankfully Mike was able to brighten everyone back up, and thats what makes him so amazing. He's ready for anything to happen! Mike was great to work with. He went out of his way to meet with us in person - twice. He really listened to us when we talked about our musical taste, and he made great suggestions.

We were extremely pleased with the music at our wedding. In fact, all of our guests commented on how great the music was. The dance floor was packed all night long. Also, Mike was not a cheesy DJ. He was dressed very well and was great when he spoke, which was not much because he wanted to have us be the focus of the night not him.

We knew we wanted a good DJ who knew how to keep the dance floor packed and who wasn’t cheesy. I did a lot of research on DJs, reading reviews and interviewing quite a few. I am so glad we found DJ Mike! From the first time I emailed him up until the wedding, Mike always got back to us within a couple hours. He really listened to us and got a sense of our style and what we wanted out of our reception. He has a great collection of music and read the crowd really well. We were a bit worried that our guests wouldn’t get on the dance floor, and that it would be just our friends, but we really shouldn’t have been concerned. Mike got people out there dancing without saying anything over the mic or using gimmicks. Even our older relatives who we thought would probably just sit around and talk made it out to the dance floor. Everyone had a great time and we’ve gotten many compliments from our friends and family about how wonderful our DJ was.

It was truly our (and our guests') pleasure to have DJ Mike at our wedding. I've truly never seen a better DJ. The classy, yet fun atmosphere he was able to create through his music selections was totally impressive and exactly what I wanted. We placed especially high importance on music at our wedding. Our wedding was evenly split between Russian and American guests so finding the right mix and style of music was a big challenge for us. Mike was very professional and very responsive to our requests. Every time we met with Mike we were reassured that he would do everything he could to make the wedding day great. He did try to pronounce every name correctly and did a great job at that. But we were so disappointed in his music selections. We felt that everything we stressed and focused on during our meetings was set aside. Our perception was that with the exception of Mike playing specific Russian & Armenian songs we provided to him, he made no adjustment to his play list to reflect our preferences. We stressed quite often that we wanted very lively and energetic music and did not want a gradual build up. We really thought Mike was on the same page with us but the music really felt all over the place. We gave Mike so many ideas of what we knew our guests would like and I believe the only song he played from that list was Dancing Queen. We so wanted to like what Mike was doing but by the end of the night we just tried to set aside the disappointment and go with the flow.

Response to DJ's Comments: Perhaps DJ Mike is mistaking this wedding for another but I walked over to his station at least on two occasions asking him to change things up because whatever AMERICAN music he was playing was NOT working. My father in law also had to go over to him to ask him to play more lively songs and I actually believe he was rebuffed. In the end, no matter how much Mike may say we "micromanaged" we were the clients and we saw something was definitely not working. We should not be criticized by a vendor for asking him to change things - especially when he is a DJ and prided himself on being able to "read a crowd." His music did NOT work. I am not talking about Russian or Armenian music but his AMERICAN music. American music we did ask for was clearly not considered. In the end, I tried to be fair and highlight DJ Mike's positive points but I would rather have had him mispronounce my name than have the awful music.

Where to begin with Mike. He is like family to the Monaco Catering Team! Mike has worked with us on many occasions and it is always great to see his smiling face come through the doors. Mike is an expert in his field and he really knows how to get the party started...and keep it going all night! Mike Blaufeld is fantastic! I recommend his services to all of my brides looking for DJ services. At the Holiday Inn Dulles we host many weddings a year and have seen DJs of all kinds. Mike is by far one of the best. He is professional, organized, timely and always on top of the ball. He takes time to talk with each bride and groom to know exactly what they are expecting as far as music, introductions, announcements and the overall feel of the reception. I always tell brides that a good DJ is one of the most important elements to a successful reception as they will set the tone and help maintain the flow of the event. I loved DJ Mike Blaufeld! I've worked with a lot of DJ's and he really stands out among the pack! Why? For one, he's got a great personality, but doesn't let that overshadow anything going on. He blends new music and old music; something a lot of DJ's don't do. With that, he's able to get all ages out on the dance floor, which is really what you want!
