i was so lucky to come across Missy. She changed her schedule to fly into town early to accomodate me. She did my hair and makeup for my engagement session with my photographer and my wedding. Missy is extremely personable, accomodating, fair in her pricing, and most of all .... talented. On my wedding day she kept me calm and made me laugh as she did my hair and makeup. She diffused all the stress i was feeling and accomodated my family's last minute requests. my makeup did not budge all day and night and the wedding pics look great. my mom looked stunning! she has a great eye for what will photograph well so you have to trust her, although she will listen to you and do what you ask her to do. I would definitely hire her again and recommend her highly to anyone that needs to look fabulous! and by the way, when i realized my mom and aunt had indulged in a last minute session of fake and bake and their hands were glowing orange, missy had the solution. thanks so much Missy, you are a total life saver.

The moment Allison and I met Missy, we knew we were in the presence of an amazing artist, professional and human being. Yes, she is all three. To date, she is the only makeup artist who has ever called me, the photographer, before a wedding to collaborate about the shoot. Why is this important? It is a huge indicator that Missy cares. She is heavily invested in the client, with the intention of the client looking her best in person, and on film. Missy goes one step further: she helps the client look her best from the inside because she is such a warm and loving soul. Finally, her work is by far better than most, if not all. She is always our first recommendation when we meet a new client.

I am a hair and makeup artist based in San Francisco, but travel worldwide. I'm a lover of everything unique and beautiful. Makeup has always been my life, even when I didn't realize it. Although I worked in Corporate America for many years, I still freelanced doing hair and makeup for friends fashion shows, retail fashion shows, photoshoots and wedding. I finally took the leap 7 years ago and decided to do this full time, I've never looked back and have loved every minute of it.

My goal is to make someone feel, as well as look, beautiful on their wedding day. This is the one day that you will be photographed the most and it's worth the time and effort to look impeccable. Do you charge for trials?

I do charge for the primary consultation. It's $150 for approximately 
2 1/2 hours. That gives us a chance to talk about what your ideal wedding look would be, look at what makeup and hair ideas you like and dislike, and then do hair or makeup changes that way you get an idea of what you will look like the day of.

Do you travel to the client on the day of the event? If yes, is there a fee?

I do all my work on location for both the consultation/trial and the day of the ceremony. I do charge if it is more than 100 miles round trip (usually for the brides in Santa Barbara or in the San Francisco Bay Area).

How many customers can you serve at one time if the bride were to book her entire bridal party? Are there discounts for doing so?

I have done weddings from a single bride, to a bride with 10 other people. When larger weddings are booked, I may bring an assistant with me if necessary.

How far in advance should clients book your services?

I always let my potential brides know that my services are first come, first serve. I do have some clients that are getting married in 2010 and I already have their $100 deposit and signed contract so that way their day doesn't get booked. Book as soon as you know that you want your hair and makeup done by a professional that works on location, rather than going into a salon.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel more than 30 days in advance, you will get your deposit returned, less a 20% handling fee. If it's between 30 days and 15 days before the wedding date, you are charged 50% of the total contract amount. If you cancel less than 15 days before the wedding date, the entire amount of the contract is charged to the client.

Additional Advice

I tell all my potential brides to ask as many questions as they possibly can. I am here to give you everything that I can to make you the most beautiful you can be, and to make you feel confident and comfortable. At the consultation, have photos of your dress, what you are wearing in your hair, jewelry if you already have it, and have photos of things you like and dislike. This way, the communication is much easier and gives both of us a much clearer idea of what the final product will look like when put together.

On the day of, make sure that all the people having services done have a clean face and dirty hair. I know, that sounds strange, but "day old" hair holds style much better and much longer than freshly shampooed and blown dry hair. A clean face will also help me to get it properly moisturized so I have a good base to apply the makeup whether it be "traditional" foundation, or airbrush foundation.

For every bride that books services with me, I will include an individual false lash application at no additional charge (a $40 savings).
