Reviews for Mon Amie Bridal Salon
Mon Amie was was of the first bridal stores I went to. I drove down to Costa Mesa from LA because I knew that they had a huge selection and I wanted to get a sense of the type of dress I wanted. I went during the day on a weekday and the salon was not super busy. There was maybe 1-2 other brides there while I was there. My consultant was very helpful and just sort of left me and my two good friends I brought in to look at dresses. She would come and grab what we liked and bring it to the room and I think she made a couple of her own suggestions, which I liked. She wasn't pushy, but she was very helpful and gave me her honest opinion about a dress that I liked but wasn't completely sold on. I tried on a Monique Lhuillier gown loved it. I hated the sash that was on it, so she brought in some other ones and we found one I loved. I walked around the salon in the dress and there was never a moment were I felt rushed at all. I told her I wanted to think about it and she told me to wait until the next month to order it if I decided to since they were having a trunk sale. I thought that was totally nice of her and really appreciated it. (You get 10% off at the trunk show).
When I called to make the appointment for the trunk show I wanted to get a quote for the sash I wanted, plus extra length since I knew those would be extras. I had planned to just get the dress from the Monique Lhuillier store up in LA if the cost wasn't that different so I wouldn't have to drive down to Costa Mesa. When I told her that is why I was asking, she told me to wait for a second and she went and asked her manager to give me a deal. I ended up getting the sash (normally about $125) and the extra length ($700) for free. Plus I got the 10% because it was a trunk show.
When I went again to order it, she was super helpful again and it was a great experience.
Picking it up was fine, but for some reason I felt like they didn't make it as special as I wanted it to be. It came in about month early and the day I went to pick it up the salon was super busy. They had me try it on in the outlet part of the store and the woman that helped me was sort of rushing me and seemed more interested in selling me a bra than letting me have that "I am in MY dress for the first time" moment.
I didn't get my alterations done there, so I can't speak so that at all :)
This was my 4th place I went to try on dresses.. I actually had another one picked out but wanted to be sure. They were able to fit me in for an appointment the next day and once I got there they were very sweet. The girls seem professional. They kept pulling dresses for me to see and everytime I went out with a new dress all the girls kept making comments on how beautiful I looked. I actually purchased a dress that the owners daugher designed so i couldn't get it anywhere else. It was expensive but I think it will be worth the $$$. They also aren't charging me to add a biger cup size and alterations do nt sseem to be really expensive.. I'll post after if I have any complaints.. but so far they were very sweet.. They even gave me a congrats bag with lots of magazines and a hug before i walked out the door. =)
I went to Mon Amie for my first time dress outing. I had a great time! They were very helpful and made me feel beautiful when I tried on gowns. The only reason I didnt give them 5 stars was because I wasnt able to take pictures of the favored dresses I tried on... I dont think it is ever okay for a salon to not allow you to take pictures especially if you are going to make such a big decision and spend a lot of money. I was so inbetween dresses that I decided NOT to buy from there... I may have if I was able to take home pictures.
This was the very first store I went to when shopping for a dress. I had heard about bridal salons requiring that you make an appointment before trying on gowns, so I don't know why I went without an appointment, but since it was my first outing I just didn't think about it. I walked around with my mom, and we picked out two dresses only to be told that I could not try them on since I didn't have an appointment. I was disappointed, but understood it was my mistake. I made an appointment to come back the next day.
When we went back the next day, from the minute we walked in, the women were not friendly and it was not a welcoming atmosphere. While we were looking at dresses my mom suggested we leave and find a more accommodating salon. There are so many other bridal salons in OC so I'm not sure why Mon Amie feels they can treat potential customers the way they do. I was a serious shopper, and it was just me and my mom. If I had found a gown I liked there I would have bought that day.
I actually ended up buying my Oleg Cassini gown at David's Bridal (which I NEVER thought I would buy from David's, but had a great experience there). I spent 1/3 of what I planned on spending and I love my dress.
Grade: B
I ordered my Lazaro dress through Mon Amie, and the dress came a month before the promised date. I received a 10% discount through a trunk show special, and that was one reason why I chose to purchase from Mon Amie. My consultant Bella was neither pushy nor sincere - she just did her job. She showed me dresses in different ranges, but all within my budget and style requests. They did have a pretty good selection of dresses. All but 2 of the dresses I wanted to try on were there (Lazaro, Ines di Santo). They did not carry the exact Pronovias I wanted to see and no Melissa Sweet wedding gowns at the time. I'm mostly neutral about Mon Amie. They did quote me two different prices on the veil I ordered ($450 difference in price), but they honored the original price. I ordered the size I wanted, even though they wanted me to order one size up so I signed a waiver. I did get hollow-to-hem included since it was ordered during the trunk show.
Alterations were very expensive (~$560), but I did ask for a lot of changes. For example, I changed my dress to a sweetheart neckline. This also included bustling, alterations on the side of the dress, alterations in the bust area and alterations in the waist. Nancy is a sweetheart, though. I did like working with her.
I was going to give them a 3, but the reason why they deserve a 4 is because I did receive a free dress through their military event. As my husband is active military, Mon Amie has a special community event honoring those in the military. They were extremely generous during this event, and their staff were doting on each and every one of us who walked in. They also gave other freebies such as a veil, shoes, bridal kit, and prizes. As a result, I was actually glad to purchase my dress from them. I ended up not wearing the dress and ordering another one, but I still believe Mon Amie is very kind to think of our military men and women.
PLEASE BEWARE BEFORE BUYING!
Mon Amie was the third bridal boutique I visited and I found a beautiful Lazaro gown. Lazaro just happened to have a trunk show there that weekend and I was able to get a 10% discount. The Lazaro gown I purchased turned out to be a HUGE disappointment. The dress came in one style, but two different silhouettes (an A-line and fit-and-flare). One of the dresses was owned by Mon Amie and the other one was part of the trunk show. The silhouette that I wanted was the one from the trunk show and more of a fit-and-flare. When I purchased the gown, Caitlin (my salesperson) told me that she ordered the silhouette from the trunk show and said that there were 2 different silhouettes for the dress. But when I picked up the dress and tried it on, it was the A-line and looked like a completely different dress altogether! I was so upset and called Mon Amie and spoke to the manager, Joan about it. She told me to bring the dress in, and when I did Caitlin and Joan told me that it was the dress that I wanted and that they didn't make a mistake on the order. I felt I was gained up on! Caitlin's attitude really bothered me when she said that the A-line and fit-and-flare were the same thing and just dismissed this whole ordeal. They said that the dress from the trunk show (which I liked) was probably fitted and altered for the model. But when I bought the dress, they said it came in two silhouettes. I did not get a straight answer or clarification from either one of them and on top of that, they wanted to charge me $600 for alterations! I walked out of there angry with regret. I called Lazaro's corporate office and they told me that the dress only came in one silhouette. I would not recommend Mon Amie because I do not think that they are honest. Once you've made the purchase, they have a different attitude and would not give you the service you deserve. I hate to have gone through this when it should have been a happy experience.
**After negotiating the alterations down to $500 because I needed to change the entire silhouette to a mermaid shape, it took 5 fittings to get it right. When the dress was finished, there were a few dirty spots on the bust and lower parts of the gown. I addressed this to the seamstress and she said it was because of all those fittings that got it dirty. They couldn't remove the stains and didn't want to risk any more damages to it. I told them that I don't feel comfortable paying the $500 when my dress was not in the same condition I purchased it in. The seamstress was very kind and understanding of my entire ordeal with this dress and told me to take it home and she'll take it as a loss. So I ended up not paying a cent for the alterations. She was even sweet enough to call me afterwards to tell me that I looked beautiful in it and not to second guess my decision.
I HATED my experience at Mon Amie. I felt like they treated all the women shopping like cattle. We went to look at bridesmaid dresses and I had even called ahead to have them pull the one dress I wanted my sister to try on. We got there on time, had to wait 15 minutes for any service, the dresses were in TERRIBLE condition and the "sales person" was so beyond unhelpful that we finally walked out.
Basically, they refused to tell us anything or give us any information about the dress options until we placed an order (their words).
We left the bridesmaid dress "wing" and went over to the wedding dresses, the dresses were in such poor condition and when I told her I wanted something in the $5k range she kept saying things like "well with YOUR budget, this is not a section to be looking at" acting like I told her I could only spend $25 on a dress.
Ugg, they may have a large selection, but no thanks!!
Mon Ami is a great place! Lots and lots of dresses, for a variety of prices. Make an appointment and bring some girlfriends. Ultimately the price of the dresses that I liked were too expensive and then the altering would be another $400! Sorry - good experience but too much $$!! They also don't allow any picture taking, which was no fun for the girls!!
Great place to shop, bad place to buy.
Mon Amie is a great place to try on dresses. They have a big selection. The salespeople are pushy but not too bad. I ended up finding my dress there. I negotiated a better price at another bridal shop but Mon Amie offered to match the price. I decided to buy the dress there (Jim Hjelm 8800) because I had liked my salesperson and felt somewhat obligated. I regret buying from them.
Once I bought my dress the salesperson stopped returning any of my calls. The dress came in 2 months late and the customer service people were so rude. I had a $200 store credit that I used for alterations. They charged me $700 for bringing a dress in, hemming it, and adding a bodice. The dress had no beading. The alterations price seemed outrageous but I felt forced to use them because of the $200 store credit and since my dress came in so close to my wedding.
Another random gripe- they gave the dress to me in a cheap garment bag that was dirty. No one would even helped me to my car and the dress got some dirt on it. I was able to clean it out but I had to go to Alfred Angelo to buy a new garment bag to transport it because Mon Amie did not return any of my calls. I just found the level of service for such an expensive purchase very lacking. I would go someplace else with more personable staff.
Mon Amie was the first place I dress shopped at. The sales lady kept trying to push these $10K dresses on me. I asked for cheaper, and so she brought me $7K dresses. :\ i asked her for anything cheaper, and she says, "we do, but you're not going to like them!" and so she brings in these UGLY dresses that obviously came off some old sales rack. She didn't give me many options.
oh yeah, my best friend bought her dress at Mon Amie and her $1200 dress quickly became $2200 when she walked out with her dress.
The only reason I gave Mon Amie any stars was because I did find my dream dress there and it turned out to be AMAZING...however everything I went through was awful. My first experience in the store was awesome...of course that's when they are getting you to spend your money. My bridal consultant was wonderful, I tried on a couple dresses told her what I like and she said, "I'll be back with your dress", she was correct she walked in and she had the perfect dress. Unfortunately thats where the good story ends.
When I got the call to go try on my dress I was so excited. My cousin and I went in for my first fitting and when they put me in the room...it was the WRONG dress. The worst part about it is that the consultant didn't believe me when I told her it was the wrong gown. She said that I probably forgot what it looked like and that once I got in on it would be much better. I kept telling her that I knew it was the wrong dress (while trying to not freak out) but she still didn't believe me. She insisted that I put it on anyways. It wasn't until I found a picture on my phone of me in the original dress when she finally admitted to making a mistake. I made them rush order the right dress and picked it up and ran as soon as I could. I would not suggest going there for their alterations either!
I really like mon ami. Even though it is a little stuffy, the selection is unbeatable and the designers are awesome. I wish I could have bought my dress here, but ended up somewhere else where the price was easier on the pocket!
I made an appointment at Mon Amie after I heard they had a really large selection of dresses. When I arrived on time for my appointment I had to wait about 20 minutes for a consultant, not ideal, but also not a huge deal.
I showed my consultant photos of dresses I liked and talked with her a little about what I knew looked good on me, and what definitely did not. She pulled dress after dress that was nothing like what I asked for. I walked around with her and pulled some of my own dresses after that, but despite the fact I had heard great things about their selection, I was underwhelmed. I felt like there were very few dresses I even wanted to try.
Overall, I felt like my consultant didn't work with me very well, was quite pushy, and I wasn't impressed with the shop or it's selection.
It was definitely my least favorite of the bridal shops I visited.
Mon Amie has a wide selection of bridal gowns. It is a good place to start and find the style you are looking for. If you find a dress that you like I would suggest looking at other stores and doing some price comparisons. I loved my dress and was able to buy it off the rack for 40% off, so I couldn't resist. I also bought my earrings & hair piece (both by Rene Pawele)there, they were both a bit expensive (probably find something less expensive on Esty) but they were exactly what I was looking for. Rene is there several times a month and will also customize her products for you. Overall I would recommend Mon Amie. They are very knowledgeable $ professional. If you could avoid certain services like dry cleaning, alterations and buying a sash there I would. They wanted to charge me $180 for a sash. I bought the same exact brand of double sides ribbon for $15 on clearance and Mahtab made the sash for me when altering my dress at no additional cost.
First the positives: The staff there is so so nice! And the collection of dresses are AMAZING! So gorgeous and contempary and so many to chose from! My consultant really listened to what my preferences were and came up with some amazing gowns. That said, onto the major negative: Our appointment was at 4:00 and we came early, at about quarter to 4. They didn't see us until 4:45. They were obviously way overbooked. The wait was definitely annoying but in the end worth it.
so the dress search was pretty intense. i went to david's bridal, searched online for other bridal salons, considered renting one in san gabriel, temple city area, i did not find anything that i loved. in the end i found mon amie from an oc bridal magazine and thought i'd check it out. the first time i went, the salon was closed but i had met vicki dietz and had made an appt to come back to see her. so i came back and she really helped me out to find a dress that fits my style. i narrowed it down to one dress that i loved but i wanted to go home and think about it. so i kept searching for others to see if i liked any others. well i ended up going back with my fiance so that he can see if he likes it too. so basically, i tried on a few others and ended up with the one i truly loved! it is so beautiful and i can't wait to wear it again for the fitting. i'll update more on that when it comes.
happy planning!
Unless you are paying more than $2000 for a dress do not expect to get good customer service here. This was the first salon I visited after becoming engaged on the recommendation of a friend. I should have known it was going to be bad based on the appointment process. I made an appointment several weeks in advance for a Saturday only to have them have them call to confirm my appointment for Friday (no way we made a daytime appointment on Friday-we all work!). Even though it was their mistake they could not accommodate us at the same time we wanted. I though, ok, mistakes happen.
We showed up a few minutes early only to be told to wait 15 minutes. My consultant was nice but had a listening problem or was trying to force a sale. I showed her pictures of what I liked (strapless/low back, A-line) and told her what I didn’t like (no lace, no heavy beading) and my budget of $2000. She pulled a few dresses. I tried the first two and my girls were crying over the second dress saying it was the one. I wasn’t feeling the dress. They made me do “the walk” in the salon as if I was getting married, still not feeling the dress.
Asked her to show me more that were like what I was looking for. She proceeded to show me lacy, heavy beaded dresses that were neither strapless nor low back two of which she has never seen on a bride (so what I am the model???). We were now running over our appointment time and she told me that I wasn’t going to find what I liked in my price range (hard to believe since they boast that they have the largest selection of dresses in OC) and that I would be better off with the second dress. No thank you!
I have read many reviews of Mon Amie and the only girls that received good service were buying very expensive dresses- over $3000 (because you know, $2000 is cheap!).
Don’t waste your time here. Or if you do, don’t expect good service.
My overall experience with Mon Amie was pleasant. Their staff is friendly and helpful and they will try their hardest to help you find a gown that is meant for you. I love my gown and feel very lucky to have found it - it was the fifth one I tried on!
My one concern for future brides choosing Mon Amie as their vendor is that they will push you to order your dress one size larger than you need. I was told by one of the saleswomen that "Most brides do not lose the weight", thus I was ordered a gown one size larger than what I had fit into at the time of purchase. And sure enough, I did lose the weight and needed a few alterations, which were not cheap. Another saleswoman later remarked that "Actually, most brides lose 15lbs on average." Due to the design of the dress, the alterations needed widened the bust (it was a halter style) a bit too much for my taste. I would not direct anyone away from Mon Amie, but would advise them to purchase with caution and a clear idea of what they want.
I am the biggest nerd and waited way too long to find my dress! I went from stressing over finding my dress to absolutely panicking over not finding one and waiting until the last minute! Luckily, I went to Mon Amie. Their selection was by far better than I imagined. The consultants were extremely helpful and not pushy at all. I was able to order my gown with time to spare. The alterations were basic but sewn perfectly. Best of all, I was able to fall in love (I cried) with the dress of my dreams!
I did my original dress shopping alone – I couldn’t get my mom to come along with me for a number of reasons. Grace was amazing – I came in on a Tuesday morning by myself for my “hour” appointment and stayed for two. She and the manager played dress up with me to our hearts content because I hadn’t given myself a specific idea of what I wanted as my gown. I tried on everything from Amy Michelson to no-name designers (Exclusives who?). They really paid a lot of attention to me and stayed within my budget.
I found my dress misplaced on a clearance rack. It wasn’t attractive in the bag. I figured I’d give it a shot. I’m so glad that they helped put together the whole package (veil, sash) because it sold me.
When I brought my mom & a girlfriend to make the final decision we weren’t pressured and the entire process went smoothly even though I ordered rather late. My dress came in two months early.
The ONLY unhappy experience I had was during the pickup. We arrived on time and were made to wait so someone buying shoes would be serviced since they were so sorely understaffed the day after Christmas. I had made it VERY clear that all I wanted to do was get in my dress, verify its fit, and get out of there (my parents moved out of state that night and we had a moving van sitting at our house while we were at Mon Amie). Unfortunately she still insisted on putting loads of expensive jewelry on me and pushing flower girl baskets and ring bearer pillows and other random things that I didn’t need, want, or wouldn’t have bought from them anyways. I opted to have my alterations done with a private seamstress (Mahtab) so I saved myself the $350+ I was originally quoted.
Awesome selection, nice people (Virginia was absolutely patient). I had heard great things about Mon Amie, so it was my first and only destination. I made sure to go on a trunk sale date (10% off) for a certain designer.
My only complaint: The sizing that they give you is off for some designers. I trusted them to sell me the closest size to my body. I am a size 4 in street clothing, and usually a 2 in formal wear. According to my measurements, I was supposedly a 4 in an Amy Michaelson gown, and I took their word for it since they are the experts. When it arrived...it was huge on me all around (bust, waist, hips)! I had not lost any weight, and it was disappointing to know how many extra alterations I would need. When I pointed this out and requested to send it back in exchange for a size 2, they would not do it. For a moment, I wondered if they do that on purpose to guarantee more alterations for the salon. Hopefully, it was just bad luck.
The most amazing experience ever. My fiance and I stood in line over night during Mon Amie Military bride dress give away. Everyone was so nice and all the consultants volunteered their time to come in and work. It was perfect in every way and their dress selection was huge. Not only did they give away free dresses but free veils too!
I did not get my alterations done here however as I heard they were expensive.
I found my dress in the bridal outlet at Mon Amie. It was in perfect condition other than a broken zipper, and their alterations staff was easily able to fix it and outfit me with a dress that I loved within my budget!
While I got a bargain, I can see how this one-stop shop can quickly break the bank. The prices for accessories, alterations, and pressing the dress were very high. I spent as much on the alterations and the pressing as I did the dress.
Overall though, they have a great selection plus a helpful and friendly staff. So, if you have the money to spend or you're willing to shop off the rack, you should definitely check this place out.
I had a decent initial experience with this salon. On my first visit, I told them my budget and the salesperson I was working with brought me many beautiful gowns to try on, most WAY below the number I quoted her as my budget. I loved many of the gowns I tried on, but when I went around the store to look around for myself, I eyeballed a gown in the window that just screamed me. I asked the saleswoman if I could try it on, and she let me know that it was a bit above the budget I had quoted to her or else she would have brought it to me in the first place. Of course I ended up falling in love with it the second I saw it on me, but I also really liked another one of the gowns she had brought me earlier. The salesperson told me to walk down their "fake aisle" to make the ultimate decision. I did this with the two dresses I liked, and both the salesperson and the manager told me they loved both gowns but thought the less expensive one would make me happier since it was more in my budget. Their response indicated that they were most concerned with making me happy rather than selling me the more expensive gown. However, the second I tried on the more expensive gown I knew it was "the one" (as did my bridesmaids that were with me), and I made the decision to go a bit over my original budget.
Mon Amie's customer service does drop off quite a bit once you've purchased a gown there. It seems to me like once they make the sale, no more effort is to be wasted on you. They have very inconvenient alteration appointment times and are generally overpriced. I have mixed feelings on whether I would recommend them to a friend. Their selection is great and I think it's worth a visit to try gowns on, but you can do better elsewhere.
Mon Amie is a pretty big bridal store. They have tons of selections, but this also means this place can get very crowded - especially on Saturdays! They have tons of staff on hand to help you... when I got there I signed in and they gave me a beeper and told me someone would be with me shortly. In less than 5 minutes, they were ready for me. I was asked my budget and directed to the sections that had dresses within my range. I picked out and tried on a bunch but none that I loved. The entire store seems to be in a frenzy and I felt rushed here.
The employee who helped me was nice enough, but all in all kind of a draining experience. I later went to La Soie in Tustin and found my beautiful wedding dress there.
I bought my Pronovias dress from Mon Amie. The dress is beautiful & the salesgirl was helpful at finding me a beautiful dress in my price range. I did feel that initially the consultant thought I wasn't serious about buying a dress & she seemed a little cold & annoyed. My budget was under $1,200 so that may have annoyed her as well! I do have to say that she was good at her job & helping me to narrow down my choices. She also found me a highly detailed dress for a good price. Once my mom arrived she knew that we meant business & then she poured on the sugar. I opted to not get my dress altered there since the alterations fees are out of this world. I got my dress in before the rush alterations deadline but they couldn't fit me in until after the deadline. I took my dress somewhere else & was very happy with the results.
Grace was very sweet and helpful. She helped narrow down my focus and even had me try on dresses that I would never think to try on. She also made it fun and interesting for the people that accompanied me to Mon Amie. She had each girl pick out three dresses for me to try on. I ended up hating all the dresses I picked and loved two Pronovias gowns my girl friends picked out. The only negatives was the pricing and difficulty in getting the style number/name of the gowns to shop elsewhere.
I went to Mon Amie Bridal Salon in Costa Mesa Ca for my dresses as well as the Bridesmaids & MOB dresses. I have never seen such poor service. It was quite ridiculous. While shopping for my dress the experience was OK. I had an attentive sales rep who did really find a great dress at a decent price but getting the rest of the dresses was mortifying. When I went with my bridesmaids I was short on time since I was only in town for a couple days. We were given a sales rep who had absolutely no experience & a very bad attitude. I had to choose all the dresses myself & help my bridesmaids try them on. We then waited well over an hour for anyone to come back & check on us even though we had already complained. During this time I was also helping my mother find her dress. Her sales rep at least had some experience & apologized profusely that we had been abandoned by our sales rep but she refused to listen to what my mother was saying in terms of what kind of dress she wanted. I ended having to go pick out dresses that I knew my mother would like & try them on her because she wouldn't listen. It just got worse after that & I won't go into detail about picking up the dress. I would not recommend this shop to anyone & I have heard many more complaints about them since.
The sales consultant who helped me was so pushy. She seemed more concerned about making a sale than finding me my perfect dress. I tried on several gowns, but nothing really wowed me. She said that if I came back the dresses that I tried on would no longer be there. The entire appointment she kept saying "You only get the 10% off on the first appointment." At the end of the appointment when I said I wanted to go to other places she said, "If you don't find a dress here, you won't find a dress anywhere." She was wrong. I found my dream dress at Erin Cole where I received the best customer service.
I was quite disappointed with Mon-Ami as they are pretty high pressure since the girls work on commission. They also charge you fees here and there even after purchasing a high-end gown. Also, once your gown is purchased, kiss any type of customer service GOOD-BYE!
I arrived 15 mins prior to my appointment time, only to end up waiting for 30mins. I ended up with a very nice, but odd girl, helping me as I pulled most of my dresses myself during the long wait time. I didn’t really have a budget in mind since I was simply browsing and the day before was at David’s Bridal and I thought the quality of their products were extremely poor.
I honestly think that they stage the other ladies working to ooohh and ahh over you as you try on more and more expensive dresses which made me laugh. They do get the shoes, tiaras and jewelry out and of course the veils to try and give you a completed look and they do have you walk down their faux aisle.
In any event, I ended up purchasing an Edgardo Bonilla gown for $5K that was amazingly beautiful. The trial size was a size “6” that fit perfectly but was a bit low in the bust area so they insisted that I order a “10” even after paying an additional fee to just have the bust area raised. Relying on their expertise, I did as they suggested only finding that they really like to gouge you on things like this called “specialty hems” so that when the gown comes in its supposed to be perfect for you but in fact doesn’t. My gown was HUGE! The alterations lady that you have to try your dress on with in order to pick it up couldn’t believe it. I ultimately used Mahtab who worked my alterations beautifully at half the price of what Mon-Ami quoted me! I was quite disappointed being that my dress was quite expensive to begin with and I expect full service in a high-end shop like this. There should be one price for the gown and alterations period.
**Also, one thing that Mon-Ami might think about is after a bride to be purchases her gown, give her a swatch of the fabric chosen as well as a full length picture of the gown. This will help you as you choose BM gowns, Tux’s etc…When I asked for something like this, they looked at me like I was crazy.
Based on all of this, I would NOT recommend this shop to friends or family. I actually ended up grabbing my BM’s dresses from a great place in San Diego called Bridal Veil (619-295-1588). Not only did they have a HUG selection of bridal gowns but their prices were insanely low which I will tell you that I attempted to go back to Mon-Ami to cancel my order and to do so they charge you a huge fee. LOL
Ladies, just do your checking. Quite honestly you will know the gown that is for you when you see it and even if it’s over prices, you really don’t care. Some brides like this shop, I myself, wasn’t impressed but all in all I did LOVE my gown!
Mon Amie is unrivaled by any other bridal salon. Their professionalism and quality, both of product and service, is unparalled. The immense selecion of dresses is sure to include whatever style, color, designer, genre, and price you are searching for. Their boutique makes planning even more convenient by having bridesmaid dresses, flower girl dresses, mother of the bride dresses, shoes, head pieces, jewelry and all other accessories in the same vast array for your choosing. I loved having all my alterations done on site, and knowing that my dress and veil would be pressed, perfect and ready for me the day of the wedding. I could not have had a better experience.
Super helpful staff but be sure to have an appointment! I went to four stores to look at the same dress but they were the most pleasant here and helped find accessories to match. They really take their time on their clients. Alterations here are a little over priced though, I took mine elsewhere. Overall, defintely recommend for selection and service!
I was extremely disappointed with Mon Amie-- enough so that I ended up not buying anything from them.
I went with my mom, and they were slightly rude to us from the beginning. It wasn't horrible, but wasn't enjoyable. Two weeks later my sister was in town and she went with me, as I was still trying to decide between two dresses. When I called to make the appointment for the second visit, they let me know that it was free, but a third visit they would charge me for. Fine, not a problem.
I arrived at the appointment and they tried to charge me, even though it was only the second appt. After sorting that out, they informed me my original consultant was no longer working there and they would try and "fit me in" with someone else. They didn't bother to tell me this over the phone, of course. We waited quite some time, finally got into a dressing room. The new consultant brought the two dresses I had it narrowed down to and also two others, and tried to insist I try on these other (more expensive) dresses, too.
In any case, I decided not to purchase from them and had my dress made. They left a very sour taste.
I found Mon Amie to have a large selection of gowns and accessories. I really enjoyed that the store was divided into three sections based on price. This way I didn't try on a gown that was out if my price range. I found the most beautiful gown and then met a jewelry designer during a trunk show and had all my jewelry custom made. The process was smooth from trying on, purchase to fittings. I LOVE my gown and only wish I could wear it again!
I am so surprised to find so many bad reviews on here for Mon Amie. I had a good experience with them. After looking for a few months for my dress I found it here. Alot of the prices did seem high compared to other stores, but I was not able to find my dress anywhere else so I had to give up the cash.
Overall I was pleased with customer service and the my dress. Though I wish they were not that expensive!
The Cons of this Salon out weighed the pros I am sorry to say. I hate leaving bad reviews but I had to on this place. I had read some really bad reviews about this location and they all seem to be the truth. When We first got there I was really excited to try on dresses. I told my consultant that I wanted a mermaid fit dress hoping this would give her ideas unfortunatly it didnt all she really did was follow me around while myself and family looked for dresses. My family and I had chosen all of the dresses I had tried on. She was absolutley no help she had no opions to share nothing she basically just got me in and out of the gowns. My mom fluffed the gowns I tried on and other people's family members actually that were there gave there opinons besides my family, Which really Helped.I had also tried on a dress that was from the designer that was there for the trunk show. I had really liked the dress and had expected him to speak to me in regards to the dress and he never did. I also found the dresses and accessories to be wayyyyyy over priced. I saw the same dresses at the 2nd salon I went to, the same place I purched my gown for way less. I had found the veil I had tried on at Mon amie that was 150 dollars at the 2nd salon for 80 dollars. The good things about Mon amie are The dress selection. They do have a wide variety of dresses and I would still go there first if i was seraching for a dress just to find the dresses or designers that look good on my body then find that dress or similar dresses some where else. I also liked the fact they had higher end designers. If your looking for a dress under 1000 dollars good luck finding one there, but if you have a a budget with some room they do have very pretty dresses. I loved all of them I put on. This is the reason I am giving it three stars the service was bad and the prices were marked up alot but the dress selection is wonderful.
Mon Amie is such a great Salon! From the time of your first appointment with them, until the end, they are so nice! On your first appointment, they give you a questionnaire about yourself and your wedding. Then they bring you about 20 gowns to try on, and there is your saleswoman helping you to put on the dress. It isn't like any of the bridal salons in Hawaii. They are a little pricey, you could find the same dress that they have for a cheaper price if you looked, but their selection is VERY extensive. The alterations were awesome! Again, a little pricey, but it's worth it! There were no problems with my dress at all.
Mon Amie lacks customer service. They have some sales associates who are wonderful but others (including managers) that need a little training in customer service.
In terms of variety and offerings, they do have a huge selection. They are also able to match prices which was a big plus for me.
i orignally went to mon amie to look for a gown after reading a bunch of reviews (good & bad). i was turned on by the amount of larger size samples they had. i loved my sales clerk, she was one of the more seasoned ladies working there and i am very glad i was paired with her. i don't think i would have taken well to some of those young girls. i would advise anyone going there to ask specifically for one of the more experienced ladies. so, i lucked out and found my dress on the first trip. they waived the charge for the extended size fee on my gown. i ordered it in july and the dress arrived right before thanksgiving as they said it would. there were no issues with it except for it being pretty big, i lost about ten pounds but i was swimming in it. i decided not to do the alterations there because the drive to costa mesa from the westside was just too much of a hassle. all in all, i would say it was a nice experience.
I had a relatively good experience at Mon Amie Bridal. It was the third place that I went to and also where I found the dress of my dreams that was within my budget ($1300). I really liked my consultant. She was attentive but not at all pushy and didn't do the false "oohs" and "ahhs" that I had gotten at the previous 2 stores. The alterations specialist was also very nice. I did order a size smaller than they recommended since I told them I planned on losing a couple of pounds and knew that if I got the size they recommended, the top would be way too big. They were supportive of this and did not push me to get a size that was too big for me. I ended up not needing alterations at all.
My only complaint is that because I am petite in height, a special length was ordered for me. Now, the skirt is too short and my only option is to wear flats. That's okay with me since I'm really bad in heels. Still, I was a bit annoyed since one thing that they had insisted upon during my initial visit was that I wear 2.5 inch heels. They had me wear them when I got measured too, so I'm not sure what happened! Oh, well. So that's my word of caution to you 5'2" girls out there who having slightly longer legs!
I recommend Mon Amie for those of you who are looking for a wide selection of unique dresses. It definitely has the more exclusive designers (but at a wide range of prices) and doesn't have the warehouse feel of David's Bridal. You could find cheaper dresses at David's Bridal but the quality of the designer dresses at Mon Amie is far superior. I especially think this because I tried one of the few $1200+ dress at David's Bridal and the dress I found at Mon Amie was way waaaaay better in quality and feel at the same price. I think Mon Amie is just a nice salon to go to for the bridal salon experience. You'll find a lot of options there and will, at the very least, be able to find out what does or doesn't look good on you. Good luck to all!
I had done my research, and read all of the mixed reviews on Mon Amie Bridal Salon. However, my Mom is from the OC and she insisted we make an appointment. I agreed and we went. My salesperson Caitlin was friendly and seemed not as pushy as the others. We told her the style of dresses I was interested in and she showed us several dresses. We spent a good part of the day admiring dresses, then I fell in love with a Lazaro gown. Both my Mom and I knew it was "the one".
I wanted to look at other bridal salons and check for better prices. However, my Mom insisted on purchasing the dress on the spot. Since my Mom was paying for my dress, I didn't argue. However, when we started discussing alterations, I firmly told my Mom and Caitlin I would be bringing the dress to my friend for alterations. After reading many horrible reviews about over priced alterations that were never done, I did not want to take a chance. We did recieve a 10% discount on the dress.
My dress arrived two weeks earlier than we were told. When I went in to pick up the dress, they tried to get me to have the alterations done through Mon Amie. I didn't crack from the pressure and declined. It is true, once the sale is made, the customer service is not the same at all.
This is where i found my La Sposa wedding dress. I found it after 10 minutes! I had been to 7 different boutiques in my area before trying Mon Amie. They have everything! because I purchased my dress on my first consultation, they gave my a certificate for my fiance to recieve a brand new Ralph Lauren tuxedo from any Friar Tux- to keep! I had such anxiety about not finding the "perfect dress" and I cannot believe that I found it at Mon Amie in 10 minutes! The only thing that you might want to think about is if you purchase a dress from there, do NOT get alterations from them! It can sometimes cost almost as much as the dress. Take it to a seamstress you know or a friend can refer you to. I did and I saved a ton of money.
I had a great experience with Mon Amie, they were very courteous and professional and let me try on dress after dress. They are definitely on the pricey side and I'm sure if I would have kept looking, I could have found my dress cheaper somewhere else, but hind sight is 20/20. I did not do my alterations at Mon Amie, however, they are very expensive on that end. I used Janet Brunton instead.
Mon Amie has a huge selection and was very nice to work with. They came down on the price a little, since the dress I fell in love with was outside my budget, though not as much as I would have liked…=) They were a little pushy to get the sale, but no worse than any other bridal salon I went to.
Their customer service, however, is what gets them the grade. When my mom came in from out of town 6 weeks after I bought the dress, they not only let me come down and try it on for her, they let me try on 3 others I’d looked at so my mom could get the dress-shopping experience with me. It made her day!
My dress came in almost a month early, was in fine condition and was the size I ordered. They get the minus for 2 reasons: 1) They have weird appointment times for trying on dresses—only 2 slots a day when all the girls come down. When a friend of mine and I went for her dress, we got lost and were late, and we had to wait 2 hours for the next appointment wave. 2) Once my dress came in, I was disappointed that I hadn't followed my gut and ordered the size I thought I needed. It's way too big. Not sure if I'm cynical enough to believe that was purposeful in hopes I'd get alterations with them, so that's not the reason for the minus. Based on the material, etc. I feel I was overcharged. It could be buyer's remorse, which is why I'm not being harsher.
Having read all of these mixed reviews, I went to Mon Amie with caution. This was my 3rd dress trip and I already had a pretty good idea of what I wanted. Based on that, the selection was ok. My experience at Mon Amie was fine at first. I arrived 45 minutes early because I was in between appointments and the front staff was very friendly. That actually ended up being time well spent because I roamed the store and figured out what I wanted/didn't want. My consultant got me about 15 minutes before my appointment and I was pretty much ready to try stuff on. I was in the store for almost 2 1/2 hours after. I ended up really liking 3 dresses and I spent probably 45 minutes trying to decide which one, trying them on several times, walking the fake aisle (which felt weird at first but REALLY helped in my decision!), etc. I did feel slightly pressured because the dresses I liked were from a trunk show that ended that night and I couldn't come back to try them on. I ended up putting down a 10% non-refundable measurement fee where it locks in the little discounts from the trunk show (10% off plus free length alteration) and gives me some time to think about which dress I wanted.
My appointment was at 4, the store closed at 5, and I made my decision around 6 pm, so I thought it was nice that they didn't pressure me to hurry up even though we were the last ones in the store. My dress was a bit under 2K, so it's not like I got anything really expensive.
*4/4/08 Update
I called them back the next business day ready to order and found out that my consultant would be out for the next 1 1/2 weeks, hich surprised me because she hadn't said who I should place my order with. I left a message for the manager who measured me. I called back the next few days trying to at least get a final price quote from other people, but I guess some of the discounts we discussed weren't written on my "file," so no one wanted to give me a quote. I spoke to at least 3 different people - another manager and some others, who were all nice, but I couldn't get an answer. They all said I should speak to my manager, but she wasn't going to be in until Saturday now and I had been advised to order by Friday to retain the discounts.
I ended up ordering from another store. The manager called me back a week after I had 1st called her, and I let her know that I was unhappy about the whole process. She apologized and still had offered to keep the trunk show discounts, but I said I had already ordered from another store since she wasn't available before Friday & I didn't want to incur any rush order fees. I also asked for a refund on the $180 measurement fee, which she also gave. I had to call back a month later because apparently, she forgot to refund that $180.
The dress, the alterations, the communications and the complete service was wonderful, everyone was so nice and friendly.
I LOVED this shop! This is where I got my dress and I can't say enough good things about them. They listened so well to my description of my perfect wedding dress.... AND found it! I'd been to about 8 other stores all over southern CA and Oregon. I thought I was just going to need a custom dress, but no! It was at my price point, they didn't try to push me to buy something I couldn't afford. When you come for your appointment you can look at the dresses yourself, then they give you your own LARGE private room and pull dresses for you. If you think you've found THE ONE.... they have a beautiful mock isle to walk down so you can get a feel for the dress. One bummer, you can't take pictures (but we did when they left the dressing room!) until you put a deposit on the dress. Overall though, it was a great experience and I would recommend them to anyone!
I went to a sale and the lady (can't remember her name) was amazing. She wasn't pushy, and understood that my budget was around $1000. Apparently, there aren't many dresses in that price range normally, but at a sale, I was able to find a beautiful dress (off the rack) that was way below my budget. The dress definitely needed a lot of work done to fix it, but I took it elsewhere because Mon Amie was going to charge approx $500. The dresses there were more the A-line, ballroom, princess type. My initial intention was to get a simple dress appropriate for the beach, but they didn't have anything like that. The dress I left with was a princess A-Line, that I absolutely loved!
I wasn't impressed. I had heard all about how huge Mon Amie's selection was, so I absolutely had to go despite reading so many bad reviews on their customer service. Well, for one thing, Mon Amie is a bit bigger than most bridal salons, but not nearly as big as everyone made it sound. It's probably about 2x the size of the average. And they may have a lot of dresses, but personally I only found 3 in the whole store even worth trying on.
The biggest problem I had with Mon Amie is that their prices are awful!! My budget is between $1K and $2K, so they sent me to the appropriate room for that price range. Everything in there was similar to the stuff I saw at David's bridal for less than $500!!! And I only found one dress in there worth trying, and I still ended up hating it. The other two dresses I found, I only tried on at all because they were having a sample sale and both of them were 60-75% off (one was $3200 and the other $8000!!!). I would have considered getting the $8000 sample dress at 75% off, but it had a pen mark and a snag right in the front of the skirt. Needless to say the samples weren't in the greatest of shape. Even the bra they gave me to try the dresses on with was a tattered old mishappen thing that just looked awful. The veil wasn't much better.
Oh, and the reviews about the customer service? Couldn't be more right. I had an appt for 2:30, showed up right on time, gave my name and waited for 20 min. Luckily I didn't mind because I got to look around and see what they had in the whole store. The girl who eventually "helped" me couldn't be less helpful. I told her what I was looking for, and she pointed me in the direction of the $1K to $2K room, and disappeared for 10 minutes while I looked around again and picked out the 3 I wanted to try. She had picked out 2 hideous dresses (not at all what I'd said I liked) that I could try on or not (she couldn't care less), and proceded to help me into the dresses. She said about 10 words the entire time and looked about as interested as if she were watching a lecture on the migration of dung beetles or something! :?
All in all, I had a better experience at David's Bridal. Better value, better customer service. If you do go to Mon Amie and find something you like there, I'd suggest trying to find that dress elsewhere. I'd bet you'd get a better price.
SO far, so expensive and so rude, not worth the drive...
I know there have been a lot of bad things said about Mon Amie, but I had a good experience there. They have a very large selection of dresses, the store is clean and bright and the staff is helpful. I went during the middle of the week and there was hardly anyone in the store. I asked them to throw in a veil for free, and they did. I was able to take pictures without any problems as well.
They only get an A- because I know that their dresses are more expensive than elsewhere (I saw the same dress at Jinny's for $300 less). Also, they weren't quite as friendly when I came to pick up the dress.
First off they have a lot of dresses, but mostly on teh more expensive side. Bella was my consutlant and she was polite, but not really friendly. She did help select a few dresses that I missed, that I really liked. She never left me alone with a dress and I didn't feel like I had enoguht time to really get the feel of it.
Watch out for their alterations costs. My friend who purchased there has had three alterations sessions! That is totally unnecessary, and a way to make extra $$$ I'm sure.
I bought my dress here. While my dress itself was beautiful, the altercations were not done correctly. I went in for a final fitting and asked them to tighten up the top of the dress. They told me it would be done. My bridesmaid picked up the dress. When I put it on my wedding day, the alterations hadn't been done. My dress had a big gap with extra material at the top of the dress that showed up in every wedding photo that was taken head on. Big disappointment. Make sure you try your dress on before you leave the store. Which is hard to do considering it is pressed for your wedding day. I paid $400 for alterations that weren't done.

I went to 5 different dress shops in 1 weekend and this one was definitely the worst. They do have a good selection and dresses for all budgets but the staff is very unfriendly. I made an appointment, which I was on time for, and was told to wait for about 15 minutes. Once my consultant was ready to help, she acted like it was such a chore to help me into dresses, get different dresses to try, etc. I've never been a bride before so I can only compare this experience to the other 4 shops I went to and to stories my friends have told me and from what I understand, the consultant should be listening to what I like and bringing me dresses she thinks I would like, bringing me the appropriate undergarments to wear with the dress, bringing me shoes to try the dress on with, and helping me in and out of the dresses. This is NOT the kind of service I received, and I chose to buy at Saks Fifth Avenue instead.
I LOVED Mon Amie! Yes it is expensive, but the service and the dresses are well worth it. Heres a little tip for you, if you are on a tight budget they have a huge room with their as is dresses in it that have been marked down up to 75% off in sizes 6-10 that are in very good condition. Do not get your dress altered there...way too expensive. Be careful when your dress comes in that is is exactly how you ordered it. My gown was a cotour gown and I ordered it in off white and it came in white...so watch out!
EXPERIENCE WAS REALLY BAD. BEWARE.
Let me start by saying that it saddens and disappoints me to write this review because the Mon Amie experience put such a great deal of stress on me during this special time. My biggest regret was that I didn’t pay attention to these things in the beginning. I write this with the most fairness, and no exaggeration.
The quality of service at Mon Amie is not upscale as they insist to be. It will be evident as you walk through the doors- dirty purple carpet, bad lighting in the fitting rooms, water in paper cups, and women wearing pantyhose in opened toed shoes (no offence, but a big thing when you are relying on people to give you fashion and dress advice.) They will shower you will kindness, ooos and ahhhs, and compliments on how amazing the dress looks- all very flattering but NOT the expertise you really need to hear when buying a gown for your wedding.
Here some specifics from my experience. After the sale was made, I was told the dress would be ready at the end of February. And that I would be called in advance since it would involve travel on my part. No phone call…ever. So I started calling them weekly- being left on the phone for over 10 minutes at some points by young women with little professionalism. One week (in April) I called as found out my dress was there (no one contacted me after they promised they would). An expensive plane ticket later to see the dress (since I little time)- the dress had many issues. Too many to write here really.
I got a lot of apologies from Tauni (the director) for the “issues”, but still a hefty tab for all the alterations. I was promised the next fitting would be smooth and perfect. (again, lots of smiles, apologies and false promises. ) Round three and another plane ticket later- the dress still not right- 10 days before my wedding! They said give them a few hours and they’ll make it right- Another false promise. They didn’t even call me- so I showed up before closing only to find it still wasn’t right. I cried.
Louise (the alterations specialist) did her best to fix the obvious issues. But only took off $75 out of alterations. A small fraction of what I’ve paid to them, and had to pay in time off work, last minute flights (which I was assured they would give plenty of notice for travel after expressing many concerns about this.), and trying to come up with other solutions.
DO NOT go to Mon Amie if you want peace of mind and solid service. It’s unpredictable and not a risk anyone spending decent money on a dress should take. I fault management for failing on very basic business principles to make sure their employees are providing a certain level of detail, care and attention to customers giving them good business. Mistakes happen- but not as consistently as my experience did. And NOT ONCE- accepting some responsibility. The managers Joan and Tauni will act like they care- but will do nothing in the end other than apologize and say they appreciate your thoughts.
Its possible you will be very sad your money and bridal experience were spent at place like this. A BIG RISK to take.
I have mixed feelings about Mon Amie. There reason why I like them:
1. large selection of plus size gowns (by actual designers like Sophia Tolli and Pronovias)
Reasons why I don't like them:
1. Staff tries too hard. They are friendly, but too friendly.
2. Their dresses are marked up over $500. I know the dress I like is less than $1500, but it was marked up to $2000. My friend's dress sells under $1000, and it was marked up to $1600.
Go here to find out what kind of dress you want & what looks good on you. Then, go to another salon that doesn't mark the price up so much (The Dresser, in Fullerton, only marks up about $100).
I had a wonderful experience finding my wedding gown at Mon Amie. I had heard that they had an amazing selection of gowns, but I was really in heaven with such a wide variety of beautiful gowns. They really do have the best selection I have ever seen for wedding gowns. I had an idea of what I wanted and with help from Julie who was so sweet and patient with me, we found the dress of my dreams! She was able to design a special veil to match my dress. I can't wait till my dress comes in!!! We still need to pick out the bridesmaids dresses and I saw some really beautiful mother of the bride dresses for my mother. We really had a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend Mon Amie to all my friends.
I was a military bride who came to your event in 2004 and received my free wedding dress. I loved my dress so much! Nathan was deployed overseas in the Navy when we were engaged. I was worried about the budget we had for the wedding, yet I was very excited to shop for a dress. When I heard about Mon Amie's Military Bride Wedding Dress Giveaway... I thought, "No way!". It was the perfect solution. It gave me something to be excited and stress-free about, which helped me take my mind off of my fiance being on a boat all the way across the world. I found the perfect dress at Mon Amie, and had a beautiful wedding in Hawaii. Thanks again! What you all do to support the military is fantastic!
Many thanks,
Tara & Nathan

I can’t say enough great things about Mon Amie Bridal Salon! I had been looking for my wedding gown for a while and had not found “The Dress”. At Mon Amie, I found THE DRESS just five minutes after telling my bridal consultant, Melissa, what I was looking for. When she walked in the dressing room with the dress, I knew it was the one and my eyes light up. My dress was absolutely gorgeous and I cannot thank you enough!
Great, upscale selection
