Moonlight Revue

Well you know that saying "you get what you pay for", we knew it would happen. It was like we were setting ourselves up for failure. We did hire this DJ because he was half the price of everyone else (we were running low on money). With this said up front, my husband and I spend many hours gathering up a DETAILED song list and typing it all out, marking which ones were our favorites, which ones we wanted played at what time (dancing, dinner, entrance). We had hoped that our time would have been valued and used, we provided this DJ with our list over a month in advance (well enough time to gather the songs). We mainly wanted someone to just control the music and provide the sound system.

Rick did a great job of playing music while we were eating, but that is really the only positive thing I have to say. He played NOTHING from the song list we gave him, and when my husband asked him to please play songs from our list - he still did not have a lot of them. When people were finally on the dance floor to a decent song, the next song he would play was something impossible to dance to. We had many of our guests asking where we found this 'character'. I was very very unhappy.

He also wore an embarassing outfit and his set up was an advertisement for his business. I am regretful that it is in the background of my pictures from my reception.

For dinner, I asked him to call tables by name to dismiss them to the buffet line as it got low and there was a good 2-5 minutes go by when there was no one in the buffet line. He didn't pay attention as to when to call the tables out. The last half of the tables ended up getting up by themselves because they were tired of waiting on him to pay attention and call table names.

I was very disappointed. If you are planning to hire a budget DJ, I recommend having a planned out back up plan (i.e.: an ipod with a play list already set up because a list just won't do).
