I had my wedding at Moran’s last month and could not have been a happier bride. I just had to write a glowing review about my experience at Moran’s with its manager, Tom Murphy. I cannot rave about Tom enough. I was a very calm bride solely due to Tom! He put my mind at ease because he was incredibly detail-oriented and accommodating. Tom went above and beyond in every respect. First, let’s start with the tasting. My (now) husband and I went to Moran’s and were joined by both sets of our parents. We literally had a meal fit for a king – they could not have treated us better. The food was fantastic at the tasting…we only hoped that it would be as good as the wedding. Well, I can vouch for the food and tell you that it was!! (And I am a foodie.) People are still talking about how delicious our Chilean sea bass was. It was NOT typical wedding food.
From food to aesthetics, Tom made sure that every aspect of the wedding would happen the way that we wanted it to. And it literally went off without a hitch! Tom got the names and numbers of all of my vendors so that I wouldn’t have to worry the day of the wedding – he literally acted as a wedding planner from the planning stage through the day of. (Tom even advised on table settings, flowers, colors, lighting, etc.) We also had certain “props” – i.e., favors, etc. We dropped them off earlier in the week and showed Tom how we wanted everything set up. The room couldn’t have looked more perfect. We had the wedding of our dreams. We had envisioned something a bit different (not “cookie cutter”) while also warm and intimate. We just wanted to celebrate with good friends and good food, in a cozy and beautiful space. Moran’s fit the bill perfectly! We also got fantastic photos because Moran’s could not be in a better location. It is located right across the street from the Highline. One of the stand-out pictures is of my husband and me kissing in the middle of Tenth Avenue with a few cabs in the distance.
If you are like me and want a laid-back, beautiful, intimate wedding with fantastic food and just a fun atmosphere, look no further. Trust me – Tom will ensure that your experience is all that you hope for and more!
I cannot say enough about how wonderful my wedding was last night and neither could my guests. I felt compelled to write a review the second I woke up this morning. Tom Murphy and the team at Moran's did an exceptional job on my wedding from Day One. He did a wonderful job putting me at ease and everything was seamless prior to the wedding and the entire day of the wedding.
Myself, the groom, members of the wedding party and my family felt so well taken care of. The food was phenomenal, my uncle was quoted as saying it was the best wedding food he ever had (order the sea bass) and people could not say enough about the hors d'oeuvres. The drinks were flowing and the wait staff and bartenders were as friendly and hard-working as could be.
And the room was so rustic, cozy and intimate. My wedding was a December wedding on purpose because Moran's looks gorgeous during the holiday season. Already a beautiful place with brick, wood, Waterford crystal, fireplaces, and copper kitchen, you couldn't imagine how it could be even better, and yet during the holidays with the properly placed trees and wreaths, and fireplace blazing, you couldn't have asked for a more beautiful and celebratory setting.
I truly cannot recommend Moran’s highly enough. You will have a beautiful night in a venue that isn't a cookie cutter hotel ballroom, but a gorgeous rustic setting, that will be a beautiful site for incredible...
Moran's is absolutely amazing! We had our wedding reception here on one of the hottest days in July, and it was great! Tom was so incredibly helpful and was very straight with us. He had some vendors he recommended, but was totally honest about the fact that he did not care one way or another if we used them, he just wanted us to know his experiences. His staff was great at setting up all of the stuff for our reception and making the room look great. Absolutely everyone commented on how great the food was and that the bar was awesome (half the reason we chose Moran's is because they have great beer on tap). Tom was really helpful and worked with us on the pricing to help us fit it into our budget. I even had a cake disaster (the bakery totally lost our order and had to throw something together last minute). Tom handled the whole thing very well and helped me stay calm throughout. This was the perfect venue for our wedding reception and if I had to do it over again, I would certainly choose Moran's. Everyone loved it!
Moran’s was a perfect venue for our wedding reception for many reasons: it has a friendly atmosphere, excellent food and drink, extremely friendly staff and the best event coordinator/manager you could wish for, Tom Murphy.
From the moment we first met Tom I think I knew that Moran’s was where I wanted to hold our wedding reception. Tom is very straight talking, none of the typical NYC “fluff” and he made it clear very early on that he would have everything covered on the wedding day and in safe hands. Everytime we met Tom he was very professional, courteous and although he’s obviously a very busy man, he fit us in even when we turned up unannounced.
Over the months we worked with Tom on our wedding, he showed flexibility (we changed the table arrangement many times and completed the reception in a rather odd order), willingness to go above and beyond (he entertained specific requests for Australian wine and a specific signature cocktail from Australia) and shared his experience which allowed us to develop, with him, the best reception we would have hoped for (in fact better!).
As the wedding drew closer, Tom kindly allowed us to store items at Moran’s (we made our own centerpieces, place names etc) and he also dealt with enquiries from other members of the wedding party such as my Mum! Tom was even gracious enough to work with our wedding day planner and ensure that they fulfilled their duties as well.
On the day of the wedding Tom and his staff were beyond wonderful. Everyone was looked after extremely well and he even had a team charged with completing our photo guest book for us - way beyond the call of duty, but immensely appreciated. He ran everything like clockwork, dealt with anything thrown his way (we had a birthday cake to present and had to present it earlier than expected - the cake Moran’s produced was amazing) and all our guests kept commenting on how much they enjoyed the food and location of the reception.
Looking back on our wedding day now, I still find it astounding that we were able to find a reception location in the middle of Manhattan, at an extremely reasonable price and with such a great team of people (and great food!).
I can’t recommend Moran’s to anyone enough - Tom and his staff go above and beyond what you would expect and it’s because of their efforts that our wedding reception was the amazing success it was. Truly exceptional.
Moran's was the perfect location for our wedding of about 60 guests. We had 7 tables and had room for a dance floor and cocktail/ bar area in the private banquet room. The room is beautiful and cozy, with dark wood and brick, with antique cabinets filled with crystal. A skylight and high ceiling highlight the cocktail area within the room. The only decoration we needed was our table centrepieces, because the room was so elegant.
Tom Murphy was very accomodating, and assured us from the beginning that he would take care of everything, and he did. We arranged the flowers, cake and menu cards, etc. ourselves, because l like having control of that, but I am sure he would have done it if we asked. He had all sorts of recommended vendors and the ones that we ended up hiring even knew Tom and Moran's reputation. The food was excellent, huge portions, and the price was definitely right. They even allowed us to keep our cake in their freezer while we went away on our honeymoon, as we went to New York as a destination wedding. All the staff was very friendly as well, and the service was great. We felt very well taken care of.
Moran's is a fabulous location for an intimate wedding with close friends and family. When we first visited the venue, we knew of their fabulous steaks but were not aware of the charm and sense of history this venue has to offer. We not only fell in love with the displayed crystal, fireplaces, wood paneling and exposed brick but also had an immediate connection with with the staff (from the start, we felt right at home, especially with our coordinator Tom Murphy).
Tom was not only attentive and flexible but really had our best interest in mind. He kept us calm and at ease considering throughout the process. Of course there were minor hiccups on the day-of, however the Tom and the staff acted quickly and efficiently to ensure that everything went smoothly and we were all the more happy for it!
The food = DELICIOUS (we had guests calling for a couple of weeks afterwards telling us how wonderful it was)
The ambiance = fun and cozy (we really packed up the cocktail/reception room-- although they can seat quite a bit if you want a dance floor I really would not recommend more than ... 140 people. That said, our families kept commenting it was more like a party than a run-of-the-mill wedding and everyone really had a wonderful time)
The staff= efficient, courteous and all-around great!
Tom Murphy provided us with everything we needed, and was such a source of help in any/every way we needed. Moran's is a beautiful location for weddings, and the food is great. But it was the way in which everyone there made it so easy for us to make the wedding exactly what we wanted it to be.
The service is impeccable. I am a designer by trade and had a VERY specific vision of what I wanted. The catering director/ manager did everything in his power to make that happen. He was very patient with all of my questions and requests. I can honestly say that i did not have a single worry or problem on my wedding day. We are still receiving compliments about the incredible food
