Morningside Inn was a perfect venue for our wedding a few weeks ago. The staff at the Inn were very responsive and always answered all of my questions that I had. When I showed up the day of, my wedding coordinator, Beth, told me that there was an issue with the cake that had been dropped off earlier that day. The top tier of the cake had fallen into the bottom tier and looked completely ruined. Beth had already contacted the bakery where we got the cake from to see if they could bake another one or if the cake decorators were still there to fix the cake. She called them back and found out that the decorators had left the area for the day and there was nothing that could be done. Beth asked the caterer if he could possibly fix it and he was very unsure with the damage that had been done. However, thirty minutes later she informed us that the cake had been patched up and actually looked pretty good. It was great how Beth and the rest of the staff took it upon themselves to go out of the way and contact the bakery and fix the cake, even though it was not their problem or fault.
We were booked for a Saturday night wedding and we had a lot less people than the minimum. So, the Inn threw in some extras like the liquor package and chocolate fountain since we had less than the minimum. Everyone told me that the wedding and reception was beautiful. It's such a beautiful place, the pictures from the day are fantastic, everything flowed smoothly, and Beth was on top of everything, so I didn't have to be. I would highly recommend Morningside Inn and their staff for any wedding or other special occasion that you have. Honestly, the pictures online do not do the Inn justice - it is so much more breathtaking in person.

Everything was wonderful and everyone at morningside inn was extremely helpful.

I would and have recommended Morningside inn to everyone! In no way would our wedding have been the amazing experience had it not been for Beth. I must have changed my mind a million times and flooded her email with senseless questions and request. The staff is completely full service, responsive and accomadating to your every last need. Thank you Beth for everything!

After touring three venues and then Morningside Inn, there was no contest. This venue is so beautiful and needed very little decorating. The staff was amazing. The food was amazing. They did the majority of the setup for me, and accommodated us for the rehearsal. They worked closely with our vendors and the day was just seamless!! I cannot say enough great things about Morningside Inn and the staff!!

We had a wonderful wedding. We were very happy with everything. The chef and wedding planner were particularly helpful and accomodating with special diets and requests. During the even the whole staff was professional and helpful.

We had a fantastic time. With it being late in March we were hoping for an outdoor wedding, however this year was a bit too chilly. The night before we determined it would be indoors and they were able to accommodate our request. It was beautiful. We had so many compliments on the look, layout, decoration, and food. We went with their recommended/on site photographer and florist and they were both fantastic. We did go with an outside DJ, and he was phenomenal. Our wedding coordinator, Katie was fantastic and very accommodating. Lauren also helped us a lot. Both are very pleasant to work with. Overall, I would recommend Morningside Inn to anyone!!

Wonderful site and people to work with. I had to do very little on my big day; they took care of everything.

Morningside was amazing! Everyone had a great time! We used the dj through them and Jim did a fantastic job! Shannon was our wedding planner and she helped me with everything!

Morningside Inn is AMAZING. I am so happy my husband and I stumbled upon this venue. In all honesty, we were not even really interested in going to see it. We were heading up to Frederick to see Ceresville Mansion and we knew Morningside Inn was close, so we figured we may as well see it since we were driving an hour.
Lauren was very accommodating, allowing us to view Morningside at 7:30 am on a Saturday. She did not want us to run over into the appointment we already had with Ceresville. The pictures on their website do not do the venue justice. The venue and grounds are absolutely gorgeous. It is about a mile off the road with a long winding entrance, giving you seclusion and quiet. You do not have to worry about hearing cars in the background.
Shannon was our wedding coordinator and she was a pleasure to work with, always responding to and addressing my questions/concerns. She made sure the day-of went smoothly and handled everything with ease. Everything was set up perfectly.
We received a ton of compliments on our venue. Everyone was extremely impressed with its beauty. But it is not only Morningside’s beauty that makes it a perfect venue, the workers are amazing and truly seem to enjoy what they do. All in all, Morningside is a gem. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone. Don’t miss out!!

From the first day I booked until the end of the reception the staff at Morningside was fantastic. My coordinator was Beth and she was there every step of the way. The venue was beautiful and the food was amazing. It was everything I dreamed my wedding would be.

Morningside Inn was a great venue for our wedding and ceremony site! We wanted a beautiful place that would hold both events so people would not have to travel. The venue is so beautiful and photogenic; it would be hard to not have great pictures. The venue also provided great food options, drink options, and more. The bridal suite and groom suite was perfect for getting ready.
Our wedding coordinator Beth was absolutely wonderful and was very timely to any questions or clarifications I asked. I felt like I could email or call her with any questions I had and had great confidence she would answer quickly. She never missed a beat! She was all about us and what we wanted.
The food was absolutely delicious - the guests loved it! They also loved the open beer and wine option. The whole evening went seamlessly and we did not have to worry about a thing the day of our wedding. The staff was extremely helpful and on point. We brought our own fall decorations and the staff was excellent in setting everything up and taking it down to pack it.
Morningside Inn was perfect for our day. I would highly suggest this venue site for anyone who wants a beautiful...

Everything was better than I could have imagined. They take care of EVERYTHING! I thought I was going to be confused about what to do next, but our coordinator was there at all times to let us know what to do. I brought all of my decor the day before, and when I got there for the day of the wedding it was all set up perfectly! The venue is not as expensive as I had imagined it would be, which was amazing, and it was worth every penny that I did have to spend.

I had my wedding at Morningside Inn in September, beautiful month to get married, especially at Morningside. At first they were quite difficult to work with, but as soon as we expressed some concern, they were more than understanding. The wedding went off without a hitch, there were no hiccups, and the food was fabulous. So many of our guests commented on how beautiful the venue was and how it was so seamless. It is all thanks to Morningside and our wonderful coordinator.
GUEST

I would highly recommend Morningside Inn for your ceremony and reception venue. The location is absolutely beautiful - my guests couldn't stop talking about during (and even after) the wedding. They host multiple events so you can meet with the preferred vendors and taste various food options, which I found to be very helpful. My wedding coordinator, Shannon, went above and beyond the call of duty. She was absolutely fabulous - she made sure all the little touches that I hadn't even thought of happen, such as putting votive candles around the cake and decorating the chairs at our sweetheart table. I had a candy buffet and Shannon set it up perfectly - it was beautiful and everything that I wanted it to be. The service and the food were great - the only bad thing that happened was that when they were packaging up the cake, they dropped the top cake. I was able to smoosh it together and freeze it, but was a little disappointing to see the cake destroyed. All in all, however, I couldn't have asked for a better place to have my wedding! It was exactly how I wanted my wedding to be!

My step-daughter was married at Morningside this past weekend and every minute of the day was perfection. From the day we met with Katie, our organizer to the last dance at the reception, it was just perfect.
The location itself is reason for anyone to have there event there; the grounds are just beautiful for pictures. The entire staff, especially KATIE, was kind, accommodating and professional.
I highly recommend that if you choose this location for any event you order the beef because my 26 year old son is STILL talking about it!!
Thank you to everyone that worked the Birdsall wedding for you did a spectacular job!

Morningside Inn was absolutely wonderful. In addition to being a beautiful venue, they were flexible, accommodating, and easy to work with. They took care of all of the little details on my wedding day and I didn't have to worry about a thing. All of our guests were impressed, and can't stop talking about how good the food was!! It was an amazing experience.

Morningside Inn is such a beautiful place. When I was looking into venues, Morningside Inn was one of the last places I looked at but when I got there and took one look around, I cried because I knew this was it. All of the staff were more than helpful when it came to questions and pre-wedding panic. They were always accommodating - through email, phone calls, and in person. My coordinator Shannon helped me decide the wedding day timeline, schedule the rehearsal, and made sure everything ran smoothly on the day of the wedding. She set up most of the tables (guest book, favor, cake, etc) and they looked amazing. She handled so much on the day of the wedding that looking back now I know I wouldn't have survived without her! Throughout the wedding I got to enjoy myself because everything was being handled by Shannon! At the end of the night, everything was packaged and ready to go! The food was excellent. Everything was top-notch and I had the best wedding ever at Morningside. We had a Saturday wedding in the evening and luckily no one had scheduled a daytime wedding so we got to be there getting ready and setting up all day. If we only had 2 hours prior to the ceremony which is what happens when there are 2 weddings on Saturday, I am not sure how it would have went down because I think I had a lot of stuff to prepare, even with all the staff working hard. I am so glad that my husband and I chose Morninside Inn for our wedding - we don't regret it and would recommend it in a heartbeat. Thank you, Morningside Inn!

Morningside did a great job overall. however it was a bit hard to get them to return phone calls. But the food was great and my guests enjoyed the venue, and it is very pretty

My husband, family & I cannot thank Morningside Inn enough for all the help they provided us before and during our wedding! We will and have been recommending Morningside to everyone we talk to! Both our wedding ceremony & reception took place at Morningside. Shannon, our wedding planner at Morningside was extremely helpful during the planning process and during the wedding. Everything about the day was amazing. We got married on a Sunday, so we had the venue to ourselves most of the day. The food at the wedding was really delicious. Hats off to Chef Tim and his team. All of our friends & family keep telling us how much they enjoyed the food too--we wish we had some of those recipes too!
Our wedding occurred the day after the huge storm in July that knocked out all the power in the MD/VA area. I actually went through most of the wedding not knowing that the venue was being powered by a generator. The staff and owner at Morningside Inn work as such a cohesive team-- the wedding was wonderful. I can't say enough good things about the venue. Thank you thank you thank you! It was truly a memorable day!

Morningside Inn is so beautiful inside and out. The view is breathtaking and the staff is wonderful! From beginning to end the process of working with Morningside was unlike any other. The day of our wedding, our wedding coordinator Heather, took care of every detail. I was completely stress free and enjoyed our wedding from beginning to end! I can't thank Morningside enough for the way they created the perfect wedding for me.
GUEST

Morningside Inn was wonderful. The staff was organized, professional, and flexible to our needs. The venue is beauty and the price was very affordable!
GUEST

God gifted us with a georgous day. The place was beautiful, clean and everyone was more than helpful. I got compliments all day on the venue, the food (filet & crabcake) and the staff. Heather was our event planner. She was gracious, attentive, calm and greeted everything with a smile. It was so helpful to have someone who had done this so many times and helped me feel at ease in not only the details of the reception but every detail about the wedding as well. Theresa who was my 1st contact at Morningside was awesome in answering any questions.
GUEST

We had a wonderful reception at Morningside Inn. Everything went off without a hitch! Jeanie and her staff were so helpful throughout the entire process. They worked with us so that we had everything we needed. We were a little disappointed that we could not keep a running tab on the bar. We had a daytime reception and many of our guests did not drink. We wanted to provide drinks, but wished there was an option other than all or nothing. Also, we struggled to communicate with our day-of coordinator, Shannon. The last e-mail I sent her was 11 days prior to our wedding, and I never heard back from her. Luckily, she was there for everything we needed for the actual wedding day.
GUEST

Morningside Inn is the perfect venue for a wedding/reception, my wedding and reception were perfect thanks to their attentive and professional staff. I would highly recommend Morningside.
GUEST

Most beautiful site. I couldn't imagine getting married at a more beautiful site in Fall.
GUEST

The Morningside Inn is picturesque. Definitely would not consider this is you are having more than 125 guests. Dance floor was ok. Would have preferred a higher quality of white chairs for the ceremony and a better selection of table cover colors. The food was excellent. Ample parking and handicap accessible. Guests commented that maybe the Inn should consider better lighting along the road back to the Inn.
GUEST

Morningside was the absolute best place for our wedding. We had around 70 guests and we fit perfectly. For a fall wedding the scenery is just gorgeous and we planned to have it outside on the brick patio. Of course, with it being September, it rained. This didn't even make the staff flinch. While everyone was getting ready they effortlessly changed the plans with the approval of my husband and I and moved everything inside. We had an evening wedding the rain against the windows overlooking the grounds was just as beautiful, if not more, than having the wedding outdoors. Our wedding coordinator, Heather, that they provided was extremely helpful and professional. She made sure the entire night moved along but not in a rushed manner. The food was absolutely delicious too! We are very happy that we chose Morningside Inn as our venue.
GUEST

My daughter and son in law loved this place as well as I. It was beautiful, organized and the food was amazing. I wish I had another wedding to plan so I could go back.
GUEST

The Morningside Inn was a beautiful place for my wedding. They have an on site event coordinator, who helps organize everything from our menu to the rehearsal to all the details the day of the wedding. The location itself is gorgeous and truly amazed all of our guests. It provided beautiful backdrops for all of our photos. They were also accommodating when our guest count came in under their 125 Saturday event minimum, and provided us with extras for our event like an upgraded bar to compensate for the difference in cost.
GUEST

We fell in love with the Morningside Inn the second we pulled into the driveway! It is so beautiful and serene! We felt at home each time we went there for an appointment and especially the day of our wedding! Jeannie, the owner, was such a gem. So helpful and sweet! The food was absolutely delicious! Their event planners and staff are so nice and so easy to work with. We were so happy and proud of our wedding venue! Everyone else at our wedding was very impressed with the Morningside as well. We couldn't have picked a better place!!
GUEST

Everything about our experience at Morningside Inn was great: quick responses to e-mails and phone calls, willingness to accommodate special requests regarding meals, bar, set-up, etc., ability to adapt to last-minute changes, plus the place is beautiful! My husband and I highly recommend Morningside, and especially Heather, our fabulous coordinator!
GUEST

Morningside Inn is the absolute PERFECT place to have a wedding! From the spectacular scenery to the amazing people to the delicious food...it was everything we dreamed of and more! I HIGHLY recommend this beautiful venue!!
GUEST

We absolutely loved Morningside Inn and were so happy with both the planning process and the wedding itself. They were very flexible and helpful throughout the process. Having a Friday evening wedding allowed for a lot of flexibility with the rehearsal time as well as preparation time before the ceremony. We loved the evening time because we could enjoy all of the beautiful scenery as well as have a cooler temperature. The wedding coordinator could have been a little more attentive to detail, but overall everything went off without a problem. The food was delicious and there was plenty of everything! We spent the night there and would recommend that as well!
GUEST

The Morningside Inn was hands down the best venue that I could have picked. I don't regret my decision in any way. My wedding day was 99% stress free and they made it flow.
The only bad thing I could say was that 3 specialty meals I requested were not provided. We verified 3 times a soft dish for my stepfather and 2 vegetarian meals. Neither of them were served. In fact they rushed my stepfather who has problems eating and cleared his water and food before he was finished. I know mistakes happen to everyone. And things are overlooked. That's why I would still HIGHLY recommend this vendor.
Vendor response to review
Thank you for your high recommendation in spite of the mistake that was made with your special meals. Unfortunately, we cannot take back our mistake, but we have learned from it and have made several changes in procedures to guarantee that this will not happen again. We increased the number of people who are instructed to deliver special meals with reminders in writing. The Inn will be refunding the money charged for these meals as well. We take pride in creating a flawless event for our guests, and we feel badly that we did not deliver on this one.

The Morningside Inn made our wedding day wonderful. I would recommend the Morningside to anyone wishing to have a beautiful, peaceful, and memorable day. Jeanne and Shannon were absolutely wonderful, not to mention well organized, timely and very professional as was the entire staff at Morningside.
I do strongly recommend hiring a florist outside of the Morningside. The florist associated with the Morningside, "An Elegant Affair" by Lisa Monday was the absolute worst that anyone could imagine. She could never keep our order straight, or the associated charges. She is not Morningside material and we still can't figure out how she got herself attached to them. She was late with the flower arrangements, bouquets, boutonniers, halos, and table arrangements, some were not even what we ordered, and not very pretty. Our wedding was scheduled to begin at 1:00, and it was 12:55 when Lisa finally completed getting our flowers to us. This ruined many of the pre-ceremony photos, and created stress and hurt feelings among many of the bridal party and family members. One of the corsages that I ordered for my 83 year old aunt who came all the way up here from Miami, fell apart when it was placed on her wrist. Many of the relatives feelings were hurt as they watched others receive their corsages and boutonnieres, and we had to assure them that theirs would be here soon. Its bad when guests and relatives start asking what is going on with your florist. This is not how it is supposed to be, "unacceptable".The brides bouquet was also not as we ordered. Lisa Monday was very, very disappointing. When I went to search for her at 11:45 to see when we would begin to receive our flowers, she was no where to be found, and I was informed that she had to go out and pick up some materials to complete our order. Needless to say, I was upset. The Mother of the Bride and the Mother of the Groom did not receive their corsages until 12:55, 5 minutes before the ceremony began. Later that evening, Lisa Monday sent me an email instructing me to place her final payment in the mail. When I brought to her attention all of the problems that she had caused, the orders that she made incorrectly, and our dissatisfaction with her products and services, her only response was to lie, and say she did nothing wrong, and demand her payment. There's more, but I am sure you get my message. Don't let this happen to you, Find another florist.
The Morningside Inn is the most absolutely wonderful venue for a ceremony, and reception, which afterward we received numerous compliments from our guests about the food, and the beautiful venue.

When meeting with the owner and the wedding planner, we brought up a few questions/concerns brought to our attention by other people with weddings at morningside. One of the biggest was whether the wedding cordinator cut off the last song mid way through once the clock hit 11. We were informed absolutely not, unless it was going on 1115 or something. Well at 1058 (we have this on video) Our DJ states its the last song he starts with a slow one which was turned into a fast one too last 4.5 min total (I checked with the DJ) at 1102 the cordinator starts yelling at our DJ. The DJ was one of my close friends and I was really upset about him being yelled at. Secondly, I wrote and called the cordinator and attempted to meet with her 4 different times, we never met just talked on the phone. Another time the cordinator yelled at our photographer when he was setting up his photo booth because he was moving the grooms cake to get a better shot. When it comes to flexability the were very helpful when it came to food because my Groom was very picky. Did I have a party of the life time? YES! it was a blast. I just wish the cordinator was more helpful and not as abrasive with my friends!

The venue itself is extremely beautiful and the chef was extremely flexible with us since we wanted a different variety of food than offered on the menu, they even allowed us to have our dogs at the ceremony .. The facilities were extremely clean and well maintained with very cordial employees.. I do have 1 complaint and that is in regards to one of the event planners, her name I believe was HEATHER!! We had brought up a complaint, from a friend that got married at Morningside Inn as well, to the manager of the of the entire place that exactly 11 pm your event planner cut the music mid song and turned on the lights for everyone to leave since thats when the wedding was supposed to end,, She told us that they would not do that and that as long as its only 5 minutes over the time and not 15 min that they would not interrupt our DJ and sure enough thats exactly what Heather did at 11pm on the dot.. She also was giving us a hard time about a table being moved so our photographer could set up his photo booth.. I would recommend Morningside Inn to a friend but only if they had someone other than HEATHER as there planner
GUEST

Could not have asked for a more beautiful venue. They were like my own wedding planners too. Took care of so many details and suggested other great vendors. Only complaint was that the day of the event everything felt very rushed.
GUEST

The Morningside Inn did a wonderful job from start to finish and we highly recommend it to brides and grooms. It's a lovely venue and our guests kept asking "where did you find this place?" We even had a rainbow show up out the large row of windows in the dining room as we were eating dinner. It was just an enhancement to the lovely view there.
The staff was efficient and flexible. Our Bridal party was late arriving and the chef put our buffet dinner on hold until everyone arrived. We also had one guest cancel on us the week before the wedding and Morningside was willing to adjust the invoice for us since it was just one person. We met with Morningside staff several times so that they knew exactly what we wanted and they followed through. We were assigned our own reception coordinator and she did a nice job.
Our guests said the food was really good and they liked the set up with two floors, one for dinner and the other for the bar and dancing. Because our wedding was on a Sunday and was the fourth wedding that weekend we were worried about the staff being worn out and less than efficient. But Morningside rotates their staff so this doesn't happen and we were impressed with their energy, even late on a Sunday evening.
My only suggestion for them would be that they install an elevator for handicapped guests to get between the two floors more simply without having to go outdoors to use the ramps. We had beautiful weather but this will not be true for everyone.
If you want a beautiful venue and reasonable pricing, Morningside is a great option. It's a great location! I know we will miss our visits there now that the wedding is over.
GUEST

I had an amazing wedding and loved everything about that day. I loved the wedding venue and the beautiful wedding day. I do have one problem in regards to the wedding day. I know that there are time constraints involved with a wedding, and I felt as though I was extremely rushed. I understand a wedding day is busy and the bride and groom are pulled in every direction, but it should not come from the planner. I was sped up while getting dressed right before walking down the isle, to our professional pictures. The day is supposed to be about the bride and groom. I did not appreciate being told I was late when it came to walking down the aisle. I wasn't able to get certain pictures taken before the wedding because of "time constraints". The wedding starts when the bride is ready. I had paid for everything so technically my planner was working for me and works on my time. Not Vice Versa.
Lastly while the guests were at the cocktail hour, myself and the groom had 30 minutes to take our professional pictures. I felt like I was constantly being told to hurry up because the guests would leave the reception since we were taking too long with pictures. Its the only time I plan on getting married, and there were certain pictures I wasn't able to take with my husband because my planner thought we were taking too long.
Yes the wedding day is rushed, but this was supposed to be a day of memories. These memories include the pictures that were taken so I can look back and remember that day. Not look back and realize that certain pictures weren't taken. It got to the point that my bridesmaids had to say something to the planner.
Other than this issue I absolutely LOVED the wedding site and all they had to offer.

Jeanie and her team were wonderful to work with. We had a small group for our wedding and her team helped make our day intimate and memorable. The views at Morningside Inn are breathtaking in every direction and it is by far the best outdoor venue we found in our search. I would highly recommend Morningside Inn, Jeanie and her team to anyone wishing to plan a wedding. I can also highly recommend Snap Happy Photography (tracey@snaphappyfoto.com)who captured our day perfectly with wonderful photos at a very reasonable price.
GUEST

The staff at Morningside was AWESOME! They worked with us prior to the day to make sure they knew what we wanted and then the day of I didn't have to worry about a thing. (Which is saying a lot for someone like me!) Our guests are still talking about how great of a location it was.
GUEST

Morningside Inn is a beautiful venue. Many of my guests remarked on what a gem it was because the setting is so beautiful. The food was also fantastic which was one of the most important things to me for my day. However, they are incredibly inflexible when it comes to accommodating and they were supposed to be valet parking which they did not do. The chairs that they provide for the ceremony are cheap plastic which I wish they would replace and you have to walk down a HUGE hill in your dress to get to the ponds and willow trees that make the best pictures.
GUEST

I do not have enough glowing things to say about Morningside! The venue is beautiful, the staff was so helpful and attentive, and to top it off it really is a great value. Tim the chef was so wonderful to meet with us (and cook for us!) several times to nail down our menu, and staff was always responsive to our questions and concerns leading up to the big day. The reception went off without a hitch and we received so many compliments on the beauty of the location and the quality of the food. I want to do it all over again!
GUEST

Morningside provided me with a beautiful venue for my small Indian wedding. They were incredibly accommodating and provided me with the perfect location. The views were amazing and my guests all loved the peaceful atmosphere it created. There were no golf courses in the background nor were there any typical hotel ballroom eyesores or passerbys such as cars, patrons, etc...to crowd my memories or my photos which is what made it perfect for me and my spouse.
Additionally, the chef took it upon himself to learn how to prepare indian food which was important to my family. He took my suggestions at the tasting and improved things so that my guests could have the most unique experience that many are still talking about today. The staff was friendly and kind and worked hard to make sure things moved smoothly and perfectly.
I looked at a number of venues and when I saw this one I knew it was where I wanted to be married. Even my spouse wanted to be married there from the get go. We still go back and visit every chance we get because of the breathtaking views and the comfortable feel of Morningside.
I highly recommend it. It provides guest with a not so typical feel and gives them the space that many crave when at gatherings like this. Why do something boring and normal when you can do something beautiful and memorable?!
GUEST

My wedding turned out to be better than I ever could have imagined and a large part of that was due to Morningside Inn. The staff was welcoming, professional, and eager to cater to all of our needs. They offered names and numbers of a few wonderful vendors who helped to make the day perfect. Morningside Inn kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes with out a single mishap. The venue is absolutely stunning and held the perfect atmosphere for a romantic and love-filled wedding. I highly recommend this venue.

I would recommend Morningside Inn in making your special and the most memorable one. When it comes to weddings these guys are pros and make your day flow with ease.

The Morningside Inn worked amazingly with me when planning my wedding. They always responded quickly to e-mails that I had with questions, etc.

Overall, we loved having our wedding at Morningside! the ceremony went smoothly, and it was very helpful that they provided us a wedding coordinator for the day. She kept the day running smoothly. However, she was trying to keep us on a tight schedule so that we could be out by 8 (we got married on a sunday, and 8pm was the latest we could stay). She was rushing us through our meal since we had to get more pictures taken, and while I appreciate her being concerned about the time, I feel as though she could have been a bit less crazy about it.
The food was fantastic! Every bit of it was delectable. We chose buffet style meal, with jerk chicken, honey glazed salmon, tri colored cheese tortellini, with sides of Roasted red pepper brocolli, garlic mashed potatos, and our salad was cous cous salad. we also got the chocolate fountain, which was amazing as well. Our pass around appetizers were the Dim Sum, Bacon wrapped shrimp, and the bruschetta. Both my husband and I were very impressed with the food, and I often wish I could get more of it! haha.
Another great thing about the venue was that on a sunday, we could get the whole place to ourselves for the whole day. Often on Saturdays, there is a chance that there will be 2 weddings, but they only book one for sundays, so we got the whole place to ourselves all day. We arrived around 9am and had our hair and makeup ladies come directly to the venue, which made for a relaxing day. Our wedding ceremony didnt take place til 3:30. it was great to have a whole day to get ready and hang out there.
And in the end, going home at 8 was a good thing. We got home with enough time to be together, rather than passing out from being exhausted. I would have liked a night to dance away, but then again, it was a sunday.
All in all, its not perfect, but it was a great place to get married, and I cant imagine having gone anywhere else :-)
GUEST

Morningside Inn was a wonderful place to have our wedding. From day 1 my husband and I felt very comfortable with the service and the venue. I was a very no hassle bride and wanted to keep things as stress free as possible. All of that was easily done with the help of the staff at Morningside. It was really a one stop shop! I highly recommend Morningside for your wedding ceremony and reception choice!

Morningside Inn is an absolutely gorgeous venue. Now that my wedding is over I miss going there. It is just so beautiful and peaceful. The staff are very responsive and helpful. You have to use them for catering, but that is fine, because the food was excellent. The outside and inside are both beautiful so even if it rains, the setting is really nice. I highly recommend visiting this place. The website does not do it justice; you have to see the place in person. It is breathtaking. They decorated the place beautifully for my wedding. Everything went very smoothly.

First of all, this place is GORGEOUS! I hadn't intended to choose someplace in Frederick, much less someplace with lots of small twisty roads to go through to get there but once I saw it I could not resist. We had so many compliments from guests on the beautiful venue. Despite it being November we were able to have the ceremony outside and the reception inside. Despite what another reviewer said about not liking having the event on two floors, I found it helped in getting people to mingle & not just stick at their own tables all night. The day of coordinator was flawless and really made the day so easy for me. She called me several times in the weeks leading up to the wedding to see if there was anything she could do for me and if I had any questions. Everyone associated with the Inn was so nice, guests even commented on that fact.
As far as the food, I thought the London broil was a little overdone, but we also had salmon & chicken and those were delicious. The decor is neutral but very nice, and in my opinion much nicer than the standard ballroom. There are huge windows in the dining room overlooking the green fields & pond. Plus when we were shopping for a venue, we thought we could have up to 200 guests, and they said they could accommodate that. We ended up with significantly fewer - about 140 - and were quite comfortable. 200 might be pushing it in terms of comfort but certainly there was room for more people than we had. My centerpieces & a couple of decorations didn't make it into the pile of stuff for us to take home, but then that is also my fault for not designating someone to do that either. I really could not have asked for more in terms of a ceremony/reception venue.

My wedding at Morningside was beautiful. They did a great job of taking care of our wedding guests and the wedding party. I loved the views and how you can flow from inside to outside so easily. Our guests commented on our choice of venue. The only area that could have been improved upon was in the flow of events. It seemed that once things got going, our planner was not as available to move things along like the cake cutting, the bouquet toss or the garter toss. It still was fine as everyone had a great time and didn't want to leave!

i agree with the last review - the food is mediocre and waaaaay overpriced. our rehearsal dinner food the night before was so much better (we had it at Brewer's Alley). the upstairs dining and downstairs party wasn't really ideal because some people ate slower or got their food last, and they missed the first dances downstairs. Plus its hard to coordinate that much moving around...id suggest if you do choose this venue, to try to keep everyone downstairs for the entire wedding.
the DJ they hooked us up with was awesome though - we loved him. Our coordinator was also really good - she really made the day. Honestly, if they could just get a new chef and only use the downstairs room for weddings, I would have no problem with this venue - the view is spectacular, the service was awesome and the bartender was great. We felt it was a little overpriced considering the quality of the food and inconvenience of their set up, but if they changed those things, it would be spectacular.

My wedding is coming up this year, and we went to their tasting. ALL of their chicken and fish dishes were very dry and tasteless...I asked around what was good to get to eat there and people kept saying the filet minon (they didn't offer this at the tasting). While I love filet minon, its way too pricey. Its too bad you have to pay for their most expensive dish to get a decent wedding meal. Did anyone have a great meal here that wasnt the filet minon??
Be aware also that having an upstairs eating area and downstairs dancing area means hidden costs: extra centerpieces and extra cost for an upstairs bar. Also, they pack 2 weddings in a day, which means less than 2 hours for decorators/florists to set up if you have an evening shift. Also, you will need a DJ who knows what he/she is doing to coordinate sound and microphones upstairs and downstairs.
Its a lot of stress (and money) right now, but I'm sure things will run smoothly the day of...the wedding coordinator seemed organized. I would look elsewhere (possible Ceresville Mansion?) for a wedding site however.

We have twin daughters and held two weddings at Morningside within 3 months. We held a wedding in June and one in September. Both daughters felt all their dreams came true with their Morningside weddings. Our guests raved about the site, the food...everything went perfectly. We held the September wedding ceremony at Morningside, as well. It was beautiful. Jeannie and her staff are organized and take care of all the details. If you are holding a wedding at Morningside, you can trust it will be lovely. The Disc Jockey they provided is a class act. We highly recommend her. Our daughter is a floral designer, so we took care of our own flowers. We have wonderful memories to cherish for a lifetime. Ken & Judy Snyder

Morningside Inn went above and beyond to make my wedding day exceptional. The wedding coordinator worked with me to create a vision of the type of wedding and reception I wanted. The entire staff was accomodating and helpful. The chef worked with our dietary restrictions and special requests to create an amazing meal. The service during the reception was professional and courteous. The site itself is close enough to hotels, but far enough out to seem picturesque. The views are incredible for photos!

This vendor was very well organized and efficient. They did a great job of providing what I wanted and made sure they were on top of things to get ready for the ceremony.

Jeanie and the staff at Morningside Inn helped make our dream come true. The location is absolutely stunning, and the staff are professional, knowledgeable, and flexible. We had a wonderful time working with everyone there, and any questions we had were promply responded to. The staff are prepared for just about every situation that could possibly come up, and our wedding day ran like clockwork. Everyone who attended the wedding thought the setting could not have been more perfect. Great food, helpful staff, and a beautiful location. What more could you ask for?

Such a beautiful estate. This is why we had no money for anything else. It was well worth it, the staff, the setting, it was awesome. I would divorce my husband and do it again there if I could.

It's a shame to see so many "just ok" reviews about Morningside Inn...we can't think of a negative thing to say about Morningside!!! We searched high and low for an exceptional venue and were blown away from the moment we drove down their driveway...the views were unbelievable!!! The food was awesome (and I am a big food critic), very reasonably priced (and we had 150 guests) and the venue itself was spotless! The bridal suite was beautiful, and very spacious! Everyone there was friendly, organized and extremely helpful and they even threw in a few "extras" for us (like a card holder) for free. Please, please, please check them out...I do not think you will be disappointed! We are highly recommending Morningside to a few of our friends who will be getting married soon.

The Morningside Inn is remote, but beautiful. We found options in the Washington DC area to be cost prohibitive, but the Morningside Inn fit our budget to host and feed 150 guests. It is so clean and new looking and the outside ceremony area is lovely overlooking the hills and pond, it made for great photos. We used their cake baker and florist and both were great. The cake was really the best wedding cake I have ever had (we had one layer of strawberry shortcake and one chocolate with ganache). The appetizers and buffet were average, but good. The only areas for improvement we noted were: 1) It was mid-July and they were a little skimpy with the air conditioning, 2) their on-site manager/wedding planner was set in her ways and was initially rude to our outside wedding planner, and 3) they took our centerpiece vases without asking at the end of the reception. All in all, it was a beautiful venue and their vendor recommendations (cake, flowers, ceremony musicians (Frederick Strings), and officiant (Rev. Ron Reaves)) made our day go off seamlessly. We had our rehearsal dinner at Dutch's Daughter and our guests stayed at the Fairfield Inn, both establishments exceeded our expectations. All of the Morningside staff and servers were professional and we enjoyed attending the open houses before our wedding to soothe our nerves. For a more intimate wedding, the Ceresville Mansion is also lovely, but right on the road. We thought the Morningside Inn was more private and affordable. I would definitely recommend the Morningside Inn, especially if you are looking for a venue where you can have a ceremony and reception at the same site.

The Morningside Inn is a first-class establishment that helped me have a gorgeous wedding. The grounds were immaculate, the flowers were prettier than I had hoped, the food was sooooo delicious, the cake was even more delicious, and the entire staff from Jeannie all the way down to the bartenders were extremely courteous and professional. I had numerous people complement us on how great our wedding was, and it definitely wouldn't have been that great if we hadn't had it there!

Beautiful venue, very easy to coordinate with. Day of issues, with coordinator and with the fact that the wedding that was following us needed the dressing room, so the coordinator just dumped my belongings out of the bridal dressing room into the communal brides lounge...i was NOT happy.
Vendor response to review
We are sorry your belongings were removed unexpectedly. Our policy is to arrange with the previous bride in this circumstance permission to allow the next bride to come into the dressing room early. Since we have a wedding scheduled to start in two hours, the bride sometimes wants to come in early to have makeup & hair done here. As you were the first bride that day, you were allowed unlimited time before the wedding to get ready. As the dressing room is rarely used at the end of the reception, we ask the earlier bride to allow us to move belongings into the adjoining room to accommodate the next bride. After our experience in the past, we are very careful now to be sure the earlier bride in on board with the plan.
I can't think of a more wonderful place than the Morningside Inn to get married.
I have worked on-site several times at the Morningside Inn and have had great experiences each time. The venue and surrounding grounds are beautiful, the staff is organized and professional and the bridal suite for the bridal party is huge, the perfect place for the girls to get ready. I highly recommend the Morningside Inn for all your special events!
About Morningside Inn
Morningside Inn is as unique as you are! A totally amazing location for your private dream wedding is this secluded, serene setting with its breathtaking panoramic view of rolling hills and ponds. This landscape, which changes with the seasons, will be the background for your ceremony whether it is staged on the outside pavilion and beautiful brick patio or inside by the cheerful, bright windows and gazebo. A large willow tree and the two picturesque ponds have been the favorite spots for memorable photography. Your reception will share the fabulous view from the upper level dining room and lower level party room. The event will flow seamlessly between the levels to offer your guests the variety of a comfortable, lodge theme of stone and wood for dining or the bright, airy décor of windows and stone for dancing.
Preparation for the wedding/reception is made very simple for you with the use of our on-site wedding coordinator and preferred venders who are familiar with our site. A bridal dressing room is available before the ceremony and arrangements can be made for extra time for hair and makeup specialists if the schedule allows. A groom's room is also provided on the opposite side of the building. Pre-ceremony pictures are encouraged so that more time will be available for photography after the ceremony and for dancing at the end of the evening.
Our highly experienced chef, Tim, always earns a compliment from the guests for his excellent cuisine. The variety of menu offerings is sure to satisify the most discerning guests, and his ability to customize the menu has pleasantly surprised brides needing ethnic choices. He has been at Morningside since our first year of providing catering services.
The most popular comments from brides and guests have been: "How did you find this amazing place?" and "It was comfortable, well-organized and the staff was very professional with all the details up to and after the event".
