Our decision to use Daphna and Rahmil for our ceremony and cocktail music was one of the best decisions we ever made for our wedding. Not only are they extremely talented at playing the violin and guitar, they are also amazing vocalists as well!! We basically had traditional classical string music during our ceremony and then a mix of more lively vocal and bossa nova type music during our cocktail hour. They were such a perfect duo and so easy to contact throughout the process. They will even learn a song of your choosing for your wedding!! We had them learn "Besame Mucho" in Elvis's version for us, and they did such an amazing job!! Every song was played so perfectly, and believe me, I am the pickiest ever when it comes to music because I've played the piano since I was a little girl, and I know how Canon in D and all those other classical songs should be played. We had listened to so many samples from other music vendors, and only Music by Daphna played it in the right tempo with the right mix of sweetness and emotions. Other violinists squeaked a lot when playing the song or just played it too slow or too fast. Daphna and Rahmil were perfect. What made them so great was their ability to mix in more contemporary music for our cocktail hour. Everyone raved about their music during and after the wedding. Even my parents, who are the most critical people ever, kept telling me about how amazing our ceremony and cocktail musicians were. One of my favorites is Daphna's vocal version of "Ave Maria". It is the most beautiful and heartfelt rendition ever. There was also not a single time during our whole communication process that made me worry about them showing up or getting the songs together. Daphna was also super organized and super responsive to all of my requests and emails. She never left us hanging. And even though our wedding was all the way in Calistoga, they were right there on time and ready to go. They are unique blend of talent and professionalism that is hard to find!! Do not hesitate to use them -- their talent is unmatched!!

Daphne is warm, friendly and does a lovely job playing background music for the ceremony or singing - from swing to classical. I had the pleasure of working with her in the last two weeks at two very different weddings and she was able to create an atmosphere that was relaxing and inviting for guests prior to the wedding. I know I'll recommend her for future events.

About Music by Daphna - Violin & Guitar
All the classical wedding pieces sound beautiful on the violin with guitar accompaniment, and it’s a natural and lovely musical combination for romantic ballads and other love songs as well. We can also perform beautiful vocal renditions of most songs. Whether it’s "Ave Maria", "Erev Shel Shoshanim" (Hebrew), "Breathe", "As Time Goes By", or a tune from Phantom, we can play it or sing it, setting just the right mood on your special day. If you plan to have Ave Maria sung at your ceremony, ask Daphna! Her singing, combined with Bruce’s gentle guitar accompaniment is a favorite of brides, grooms and their families.
Our fee includes meeting with you before your event as much as needed to learn about you and what you envision, and to help you select the music that best suits your unique tastes and creates the atmosphere you are dreaming of. We are glad to tailor both the music and process to your needs- we can decide together on specific pieces, or you could give us a general idea about what you want to hear and leave the specifics up to us. If there is a song you would like us to play that is not already on our list, we will learn it just for you!
Daphna Rahmil, violinist-vocalist, is a classically trained violinist as well as an award-winning songwriter, a guitarist and a trained singer. She has been performing in the Bay Area for many years as a solo artist and also in various ensembles.
Bruce Barley, guitarist-vocalist, is a veteran Bay-Area musician who has worn many musical hats over the years. He plays guitar, mandolin and electric bass- everything from Rock’ N Roll to wedding ceremony music. He is also a songwriter and a quite a crooner.

Yes. We can set up a wireless lapel microphone for your wedding officiator, which works beautifully for the bride and groom as well.
Can you play music other than the usual wedding pieces?
Yes. We often play more contemporary pieces at weddings, such as violin/guitar renditions of rock ballads, or songs from theater or movies. We can perform instrumentals and vocals. We are happy to learn a song special for you, at no additional cost.
How much time do you spend with us in order to plan the music?
So that we can serve you well, it is important for us that you are completely happy with all your musical selections, and that we understand well all the relevant details of your unique ceremony. I am happy to spend as much time with you as you need, either on the phone, by e-mail or in person.
Try to book early, as dates fill up quickly, and it is nice to be able to plan your music with time to spare!
