My fiance and I were dead set on just hooking up an ipod for our wedding reception and trying to save a few bucks, since we had figured that just what most DJs do nowadays anyway. At the last minute we changed our minds and come across Dan at Musical DJs. Although he typically books up, sometimes months in advance, he had a last minute cancellation for the weekend of our wedding!

From the very point of contact with Dan, he was excellent to deal with. He was so professional and really made every effort to get to know us, what we wanted, what we didn't want...he was GREAT! It was obvious he has had a lot of experience with weddings and thought of and offered up ideas.

The day of our wedding, we knew we didn't have to worry about anything. Dan had all the details under control. He took it upon himself to reach out to our photographer, so they could work together and he would notify her before any toasts or special dances/moments so there would be no picture-perfect moments missed. Dan took the time to learn some difficult names prior to the reception, making sure his pronunciation at announcements would be correct. Every little detail was taken care of and thought through by Dan himself. It was such a relief and he really allowed us to enjoy our party without any worries. And not only was he detailed, down to the minute, of how our night would turn out, he played the greatest mix of music. My fiance's parents are ballroom dancers, our college and high school friends like to dance to Top 40's type music, we had family visiting at the wedding from Europe and Australia (different music types?), and EVERYONE agreed on the music. I have personally never seen my parents dance, EVER, and we could not get them off the dance floor. The carpet might actually have had to be replaced because of the rug that they cut! Haha. Honestly though, hiring Dan as our DJ made the all the difference to our wedding! He was a crucial component in how fantastic our wedding turned out. It really was the best night ever!

Dan L. was my DJ. Very professional, very helpful, very organized. Good at running the party, emcee-ing, directing the party. Had a great time. Great music selection! "Got me" and played the style of music I wanted. Offers great military discounts! Very good pricing. Would definitely recommend!

Musical DJs played piano for our ceremony and cocktail hour and DJed our reception. The piano music was beautiful, and the music during the reception was perfect during dinner and for dancing afterward. Our dance floor was continuously full of people, Musical DJs really did an excellent job at keeping everybody in a party mood!

All I can say is that these guys made my wedding!!!!!!!! Dan is so great to work with. Any questions were answered within MINUTES. And let me mention, my wedding WAS NOT an easy one to DJ for. We wanted a mixed greek/american wedding, and our DJ for the night, Freddie B was fantastic. He even went above and beyond and was taking requests for greek music....when he doesn't speak a lick of Greek!!!! I was very impressed. He kept the reception flowing very smoothly with no pauses and anyone complaining. They have reasonable prices and the service far exceeds the amount you pay....def one of the best dj's I have heard, and I have been to alot of weddings!!!!

We found Musical DJs through Wedding Wire and decided to go with them due to their great reviews. Let's just say... the reviews held up! We spoke with their main guy Daniel who was very helpful in handling all of our needs and requests. Their pricing was pretty competitive, and they were extremely professional and responsive throughout the entire planning process.

They hooked us up with a string trio (headed by Brenda Anna) for the ceremony, and they were fabulous. The DJ who performed for our reception was John Ware, and he was also superb. We had given him a rough idea of the sort of music we wanted to hear along with some 'must haves', and the playlist he assembled for us was perfect. Everyone had a blast! He was also nice enough to stay an extra hour (for a very reasonable overtime fee) when we decided towards the end of the night that we wanted to keep the party going.

Musical DJs helped our wedding become the awesome event that we'll remember forever. We'll definitely be recommending them to our friends as they get engaged.

Freddie was the DJ for our wedding and what a gem he is!! He is a genuinely nice person and very accommodating. We had a very small wedding, but he handled all requests and made sure to play everything we wanted to hear. I was so glad we decided to hire a DJ for our intimate wedding because he was absolutely wonderful!

Dan and Karen were also very easy to work with in the months/days leading up to the wedding. They made sure every detail was in order and were very responsive to e-mails. Dan is very helpful and was great at answering all of our questions and accommodating our requests.

We used DJ Freddy for our wedding and he was AMAZING! First of all he was the sweetest guy, super friendly and loveable. We talked on the phone about 6 months prior to the wedding and talked about what kind of music I wanted to play and he totally picked up on what I wanted. About a month before the wedding I sent him a list of songs that were a must and let me tell you it was a long list....he didn't have a problem at all. It was very easy to work with him, he was very organized and detailed. I had to fill out a form indicating which songs were to be played when (fist dance, father daughter dance, cake cutting etc) and he was on top of it from the second we got to the venue. He did an amazing job all night, people were on the dance floor the entire time and he was also graceous enough to stay an extra half hour passed the agreed upon time. I would recommend DJ Freddy for a multitude of events! However, he is particularly well rounded when it comes to weddings, he knew exactly what to do. Thanks DJ Freddy!!! You made our wedding amazing!!!

We were so lucky we met Dan at an open house at the Piedmont Club. He came highly recommended by Michele at the Piedmont Club and then after meeting him, we knew he would be our DJ! It helped just a little that on the same night, we won some free dance floor lighting from him for our wedding reception! :) He was easy to communicate with via email or phone whenever we had a question. The Musical DJs website was so helpful when it came time to add the music we wanted, names of bridal party, etc. He met with us days before our wedding to make sure we had everything taken care of. He has lots of ideas and recommendations and will think of things to ask you that you don’t even think of. He will keep in touch with you throughout the reception to make sure you are happy and to let you know when the next event is coming up (garter toss, cake, etc.) Dan is experienced at what he does, he keeps you laughing, and he will keep your guests on the dance floor. Dan is the whole package! We would definitely recommend Musical DJs! You will not be disappointed. We had a blast at our wedding; thank you Dan!

Dan and his team are amazing at Musical DJs are amazing. From the first conversation, Dan made us feel as if we were his only clients taking as much time as we needed to ask questions and plan out everything that we wanted. discussing all of the options and helped us choose exactly what we needed. Karen helped to make the wedding timeline flow just how we wanted. Last but not least, Freddie was the best DJ ever! Freddie played all great songs, the entire wedding was dancing the whole night. He helped us plan a fun wedding party introduction into the reception and made it so fun. He planned music that was great for all age groups and kept the mood upbeat and fun, he truly made the wedding amazing. I received the most compliments not on the decor but on how amazing the DJ was, he really made our wedding an amazing experience and I would recommend Freddie and the whole MUSICAL DJ team to anyone, they are truly an awesome group of people.

I spent two months searching for the right DJ, who was easy to talk to and was able to do uplighting. When I first talked to Dan I just knew he was the perfect one.

He's so easy to work with and get ahold of, and was always quick to respond. We never met beforehand, but have phone conversations. When I needed some suggestions on ceremony music, Dan was there to give me some suggestions to listen to and provide feedback on.

Everything went smoothly on the day of the wedding. Our ceremony was perfect, and the reception was even better. Dan got people up and dancing, and even took time at the end of the night to grab a picture with us.

I highly recommend Musical DJs, especially Dan.

He did a great job with uplighting the room as well. It matched so nicely with our centerpieces and just gave the room a better feeling.

Dan was our dj. He played live guitar for our ceremony and cocktail hour (acoustic for the ceremony, jazz for the cocktail hour), and djed our reception.

He learned 3 new songs for our ceremony, and while we didn't make it to cocktail hour due to pictures, we received nothing but compliments on him. During the reception he djed, mced, and played guitar for a few songs that we requested. He learned and arranged the father-bride dance song and let us come to his home so that we could approve it and our ceremony music ahead of time.

We also had a must-play, please-play, and do not play list. He stuck to it, and during the "Dan chooses" sections he made spectacular choices. Our dance floor was full the whole night, with people from ages 19-60.

I am an independent Event Manager/Producer. I had a wonderful opportunity to work with Dan and his team for a wedding that took place in early August 2011. It was an absolute pleasure to work with Dan and his team.

Quality of Service: Dan and his team were on time to set-up. They were all experienced musicians and knew what they were doing. Dan's team is very versatile-they are able to play live music and DJ (2-in-1! always a good thing!) The live music performances and DJ'd music were of solid quality.

Responsiveness: Dan and his team were very responsive and cooperative during the pre-wedding process and on the day-of. Correspondence between Dan and his team was efficient and effective. I was always able to get in touch with them and if I couldn't get a hold of them-they were prompt in returning my phone calls and e-mails.

Professionalism: Dan and his team were very professional during the whole process. All of the expectations of them were met. They were respectful and cooperative throughout the whole evening and post reception.

Value: I was not provided the contract/cost of Dan's services. Therefore, I am not able to answer this question adequately. Although, I imagine that they were of great value-in the quality of music and talent (the groom is very music savvy, he plays the vibraphone, and I believe he chose Dan and his team with consideration of his own expertise and knowledge of music).

Flexibility: Extremely flexible. Moreover, adaptable. Dan and his team are very well acclimated to the events industry and know that plans are blueprints and that we must always be prepared to think quickly as timelines change throughout the evening. We were constantly corresponding with each other to make sure we were on the same page or adjusted the timeline accordingly and quickly throughout the entire evening.

Misc. Note: Dan served as the MC for the wedding reception. Dan has a very vibrant, energetic, crisp and clear voice. He does it all!

Furthermore, Dan and his team are great musicians and know what they are doing. They are very well supported by administrative and production staff. Dan and his team have the ability to feel the waves of a room and respond accordingly to make it the most colorful and successful event possible. I highly recommend Dan and his team. I look forward to working with them again in the future.

We couldn'thave asked for a better DJ, we first met with Dan and he pointed us in the direction of Freddie, who was amazing! He was everything we wanted in a DJ he played what we chose, and most importantly he made sure all 140 guest were having a great time. I would use the company as well as Freddie over and over again!!

My husband and I really enjoyed working with Musical DJs. Dan, the owner, was the DJ for our wedding and he was wonderful. We had him do the ceremony music, cocktail hour and reception music, as well as up-lighting for the reception venue. Dan was very nicely dressed, professional, friendly and efficient. I have nothing but good things to say about the Musical DJ's team. In my search for DJs/lighting companies I found they were all outrageously priced for the service they were providing. Musical DJ's was reasonably priced and offered a discount for paying in full up front. While preparing for the wedding I met multiple times with Dan and Freddie to go over the atmosphere for the wedding, the uplighting location and color, and the lit monogram. They were on top of every detail so I didn't have to worry about it. When I created my wedding timeline I was worried about not having enough open dance floor time for everyone, Freddie reworked the timeline multiple times until it was exactly as I wanted it. On the day of the wedding I arrived at the reception and the uplighting and the lit monogram looked amazing! Freddie and Jeremy were dressed professionally and met us in the bridal suite to ensure we were ready to be announced. They stuck to the timeline and even cut the music short when my dad had enough dancing for the father/daughter dance (Freddie and him worked out a cue). They had the dance floor packed and played just the right combination of new and old music. Again Freddie and Jeremy made the reception such a big hit we got huge compliments on the music and with my family that's a big deal. Thanks again to the team for all your help!

Words cannot express how exceptional it was to work with Musical DJs for our wedding this June!

While preparing for our wedding ceremony and reception we spoke with quite a variety of DJs and all the others paled in comparison to Dan Lamaestra and his team. After fifteen minutes speaking with Dan on the phone it struck us that we may have found the perfect match for our special day; he was professional, enthusiastic and flexible to our needs. We had the pleasure of meeting Dan and seeing his fantastic set up live at a bridal show outside DC earlier this year and everything from the great selection of music to the show stopping lighting wowed us... our personal favorite was the twinkling stars above the dance floor!

One of the most special moments of our ceremony was Dan's live performance of "The Wedding Song" during our unity candle lighting where he sang and played to guitar for us and our guests. The entire congregation was blown away by his smooth transition from piano to organ to guitar and back again and he really catered to our wishes for very special ceremony.

The reception blew us away; it was our very own "David Tutera moment"! From the up lighting coordinated with our deep red color palette to the upbeat dance floor lighting and not to mention Freddie Borras who orchestrated the whole event, everything was more than perfect. We were able to have a wonderful time with our family and friends without having to worry about the music or flow of events.

We elected to use Musical DJs based on reviews on this site. I called and spoke to Dan who provided me with an excellent overview of what they do, what is important in selecting a DJ, and helped me to find an arrangement that fit our budget. He recommended Freddie Borras for our wedding on June 5. Freddie arrived early, and began setting up immediately. We had a problem with our venue that involved the fire department, but Freddie was not distracted by it. In fact, he voluntarily worked the extra time that we lost for our ceremony because of the said problem. He did an outstanding job, and was very professional at all times. All equipment that he provided appeared to work flawlessly. We would select this company again for future events.

Musical DJs did an excellent job for our wedding! Dan was extremely responsive and helpful from day one and offered great prices for the talented DJs on their staff! John was the DJ for the night and did a fabulous job. He worked well with the venue to make sure everything flowed perfectly and often checked in with us to see to make sure we were ready for what was next for the night!

We had outside music speakers for John to play live guitar during the ceremony and the cocktail hour, we also had multiple uplighting which really added to the feel of the room for our wedding. I highly recommend the uplighting to add incredible feel to your night!

The DJ was terrific. He was friendly, helpful and very attentive. We had no event planner so it was the DJ who made sure the event proceeded according to plan. He interacted with the event staff and made sure the bride, groom and guests were taken care of.

If I could give Dan Lamaestra 10 Stars for Professionalism, I would. He was absolutely one of the hardest working venders on our wedding day. But before all that, to prepare for everything we discussed all the ceremony songs over the phone. He even played a few of the songs them to make sure the speed was perfect for when I walk down the isle.

I had Dan for the ceremony piano music, the cocktail piano jazz music, and the DJ for the reception. He had every station all ready set up before everything started so he didn't waste any time and more from ceremony to cocktail hour to DJing. He was perfect for the classical piano music played during our ceremony. He was EXTRA extraordinary for the jazz piano music for the cocktail hour since that's more of his specialty. Then he played Frank Sinatra/Michael Buble for the dinner hour. And for the dancing he went by my play list exactly!! There was no dead air from transitioning from one song to the next. He would find a similar beat and transition the song with a fade.

We had the pleasure of working with Freddie B from Musical DJs for our wedding this past spring. The reception was at the Athenaeum, a small historic art gallery in Old Town. Freddie was able to arrange all of his equipment within the limited space and the gallery was very pleased with the care that he took when setting up and breaking down. Freddie worked closely with my husband to plan the music for cocktail hour, dinner and dancing. We had a pretty good sense of what we were looking for but Freddie was able to take our ideas and develop them into really great full playlists. We are also particularly appreciative for the time that he took working with our friends and family making toasts to ensure that they were comfortable with the timing, using the microphone, etc. Freddie has an enthusiastic personality, is attentive but not intrusive and knows his stuff. We would highly recommend him to anyone.

Freddie was AMAZINGGG!! We were a bit behind schedule from the church and the dinner and speeches took longer than expected, and Freddie was right on top of everything. He communicated well with me and kept the event flowing smoothly, even with the slight schedule changes. His announcements were great, he kept the dance floor full all night, and provided exactly the DJ service we were looking for. Would 100 percent recommend using Dan and Musical DJ's for any event. Great job!

Dan was absolutely wonderful! He played the exact songs we requested, politely declined a guest's request to play a song we disliked and began our (quite long) first-dance song where we wanted him to (i.e. after the long introduction). It was important to my fiance and I that we not have a particularly chatty DJ and Dan followed our wishes in that too! He was professional, courteous, neat and a great deal!

Not only did he act as DJ during our reception, but he also was a pianist during the preceding cocktail hour - and was wonderful. Several guests approached both him and us to comment on how beautifully he played and how enjoyable his music was.

I have been to so many weddings that had horrible DJs that I initially resisted hiring one. Thankfully, my wedding consultant talked me into checking out Musical DJs. I'm so very glad she did. Dan was incredible. He took our (very long and particular) song lists and pulled them off perfectly, even creating a instrumental loop from the intro to one of my favorite rock songs for my bridesmaids' processional. Additionally, he was excellent at judging the pace of the party, and (in some ways most importantly) checked in with Lindsay, my consultant, before changing or adjusting the timeline at all.

If you're considering hiring a DJ, but worried like I was, I would recommend Musical DJs in the strongest terms. They're amazing. You won't be sorry.

Because of the great time we had in November, I decided to hire again! My daughters Sweet Sixteen was s much fun. DJ John was our guy for the night. The kids had tons of requests that he was cranking out all night in addition to the birthday girls request list (somewhat edited with Dans and Johns help). I had the up lights again and the room was charged with energy for the dancing. The overall room could be darkened but with uprights, you get a colorful color changing glow. Fist pumping and lots of fun. Will use again and again for sure!

Dan LaMaestra with Musical DJ's was awesome for our Banquet event. We had the color changing uplights around the venue and what a fun time we had. These lights rock the room and the guests danced all night. Well worth it!! Everone commented on how pretty the room looked and the energy lasted through midnight! These guys are extremely professional and they work with you in all aspects from lighting, speaker placement and song selection. The DJ and assistant arrived on time for set up and even offered to help me out when I had a technical problem with my slide show. Cannot go wrong with this company. Will use them again.

First of all let us start by saying Dan Lamaestra with Musical DJ's was on top of his game to fullest from the first time we spoke with him during our DJ search, to the end of our reception. As we all know the DJ is one of the most important aspects of a successful wedding/reception and the outcome of our wedding totally exceeded our expectations. Dan not only lit up the dancefloor with music that everyone enjoyed, but he also lit up our room with a beautiful ambiance of lights. No detail went unnoticed, from his impecable timing to just being aware of our guests and what the party would need at any given moment. Dan brought up aspects of the ceremony/reception that we had not even taken into account and provided us with great solutions. We could not rave enough about what an outstanding job he and his team did to make it the most amazing day of our lives. Dan and musical dj's are the complete package from ceremony sound, to lighting, to the reception and more. We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Musical DJs and John Ware specifically. Their reputation for professionalism is well earned. Not only were the music and event timelines executed perfectly, John was also able to adapt when circumstances arose that required some discretion.

They were well worth the cost, the DJ is really so much more than the music and they can make or break the wedding with the slightest mistake. You can't go wrong in choosing Musical DJs.

Dan is absolutely AMAZING! There is no need to look any further. I've never met an more professional, flexible and responsive individual. Dan Lamestra worked with us for our wedding and provided excellent service! We contacted him about 1 month prior to the wedding, and everything went according to plan. He never made us feel rushed or pressured about the timing, and he gave us a sense of ease from the very beginning. Dan was always available to talk to us and help us prepare for our wedding - including talking to us at 9:30pm at night! He listened to what we wanted, and everything went off without a glitch! I would definitely recommend Dan to any bride who is looking for a extremely competent DJ who will ensure everything works out just the way they want without having to worry about anything!

Dan at Musical DJs is the only vendor who gets a perfect review from me. Everyone else who I worked with was wonderful, but Dan just went far above and beyond what I would expect from a DJ.

Quality of Service-- Dan was extremely knowledgeable about what works at a wedding and what doesn't. I sent him a list of the songs that I wanted him to play and he wasn't afraid to let me know that some of them just wouldn't work on the dance floor. I appreciated that he was honest with me and the result was that the music was a lot of fun, and people were dancing for later than I expected. I'm not the most "hip" person in the world, so it was good to have a DJ who knew what was appealing to the crowd.

In terms of organization, he gets an A+++. Having never planned a wedding before, I didn't know anything about the timing of events. He had planning tools to help me and then we got on the phone and he walked me through everything. Using his timelines and worksheets, I felt much more at ease about the flow of things.

Responsiveness-- I could always get him on the phone within 15 minutes, usually faster. He would respond to my emails almost immediately, and certainly before the day was out.

Value for Cost-- He was priced very reasonably, especially considering all the time it took him to set up and tear down. I would have actually expected him to charge more, so we gave him a tip.

Flexibility-- Every song that I wanted he was able to play. I also had an un-even bridal party and divorced parents, so he was able to work with making the announcements unique.

Definitely use Dan and Musical DJ's!!!!

Dan was great for our wedding. We had an evening wedding, with a relatively conservative crowd and no alcohol, so we were worried about the vibe. Dan talked this over with us beforehand and understood our concerns, and worked with us to make sure we were able to get the feel we wanted. Our reception was lots of fun, and Dan was great with our crowd.

My fiance (now hubby) met with Dan (the manager), and the DJ we used, John, and instantly were impressed at their professionalism and organization, and even more so after a few other consultations that went fine, but Musical DJS really stood out. I also had a unique spin on what I wanted for the event, and Dan and John were confident that they could execute it, which they did. I had made my own cocktail hour music from itunes; wanted both Middle Eastern and American dance music at the wedding; and had hired a belly dancer for entertainment who had all sorts of props, including a candalabra and a sword! I provided most of the middle eastern music and cocktail hour music (talking through some of the techncial issues in advance with Dan to help make sure my CD was playable helped ensure a successful event!), and the belly dancer provided her own music the day of. John did an amazing job transitioning between the different music/segments of the reception. The dance floor was always packed and the music fun. He was also responsive to a couple of requests for certain songs, and to turn up the volume at one point (we all like to dance!). He was also super helpful and calming right before the intros when I lost most of my bridal party. (note to future brides - don't allow the option for bridal party to go to the cocktail hour. They were all having too much fun, headed straight to the ballroom, and forgot to come back on time!!) John and the best man helped round everyone up so we could keep things moving. They also provided great spotlight and dance lighting the compliment the uplighting we had chosen for the room. This created a fun, lively yet classy atmosphere which was exactly what I was going for. The guests did not want the party to end and kept requesting songs -- but out time with the venue was up. I think people would have danced all night if the venue had allowed us to run late! :) I would highly recommend Musical DJs for your wedding.

Dan did an amazing job at our wedding. The online tool they having for picking songs made it easy, and he responds quickly to emails and phone calls. During the reception everything just flowed nicely. Whats really great is that I could trust him to play whatever he thought best and I never gave it a second thought. Dan is very professional, and I would recommend him to anyone.

Dan LaMaestra is a consummate professional with an amazing talent. He plays, he sings, he has a great ear, he knows music, he knows people, he is a charming, wonderful person. Originally we talked about DJ services, but actually hired Dan to play light jazz and standards for our reception. He booked a fabulous stand-up bass player to augment his keyboard and we had four hours of top-drawer entertainment. He communicates easily and clearly, is 100% reliable. You will not be disappointed with his services, I guarantee it!

Dan was fantastic. We had the DC Cowboys, a separate vendor, perform at the reception and Dan worked with them with such professionalism. He was present for all meetings, both in person and through conference calls. We chose him for his lighting and we were not disappointed. He kept everybody dancing!

There is simply not enough words to convey our appreciation and thanks to Dan Lamaestra of Musical DJs for his invaluable role in making all our wedding festivities a wonderful success and unforgetable memory. We needed a DJ for the ceremony, a pianist for the cocktail hour and back to the DJ for dinner music and dancing. Dan was able to meet all our musical needs...all that and he took the time to edit specific tracks for our processional and recessional! Dan truly took the time needed to ensure that every musical detail of our wedding from start to finish was what we wanted, while also providing guidance based on his extensive experience as a DJ and talent as a musician. Dan was an excellent person to work with. He got back to me quickly, and met with me at his studio in order to make sure that he was providing me with the best musical selection for my wedding. He even helped me to pay a tribute to my grandmother, who passed away right before my wedding. He also downloaded and played a special song for me on the piano as I walked down the aisle. Dan treated my wedding as if it were his own, and is truly excellent at what he does. Thank you for helping to make my wedding day a special one!!!

For an event 8 o'clock in the morning on a Saturday, nothing could have gotten our crowd energized more than Dan's DJing. We had about 100+ people attend our charitable event and many of them commented on how fun and up beat the morning was. A large part of this was due to Dan's music choice and MCing. We didn't give him a playlist, just genre - he played exactly what the crowd was looking for. He is now our charity's number one go to for our events.

Working with Dan before the wedding was great- he was responsive and easy to get a hold of. The best, though, was how easy he made everything on our wedding day. Everything was so smooth and exactly like we discussed. He kept us on track with timing and was responsive do day-of requests.

I absolutely adore Dan Lamaestra from Musical DJ's!! I called Dan on a whim and within a few minutes of speaking with him, I just knew he would be our "guy". Dan really listened to what we wanted to achieve on our day- the feel, the ambiance, everything. I feel that everyone else that I spoke with wanted to conform my ideas into what they provided. We worked with Daniel LaMaestra from Musical DJs. Dan was extremely professional, incredibly responsive and a wonderful DJ and pianist! Yes, not only was he our DJ, but he played the piano for our wedding ceremony as well. He came to us highly recommended by the venue we selected (Piedmont Club) and now we know why first-hand!

Dan was VERY thoughtful & thorough in the planning process, which made working with him smooth and easy on the nerves. Through his interactive website, we were able to quickly and efficiently plan the reception timeline and select the music for all those special song/dance moments. Daniel was always very, VERY prompt in responding to any questions or concerns we had (mostly within the hour or less!) and also had a great selection of music. While very thorough in the planning (he even pre-recorded the names of our wedding party to get the pronunciations just right!) - he was also very flexible come the big day so when we needed to shorten a few things or change the timing for the reception, he was ready.

We originally hired Daniel LaMaestra from Musical DJs to be our DJ for our reception, however after sharing with him our difficulty in finding a pianist for our ceremony, he offered to be our pianist as well. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. At our rehearsal dinner, the hymn we found in the hymnal at the church was not the version we were familiar with. I began to panic, but Dan simply asked if I was able to sing it for him. I pulled aside one of my bridesmaids (who is a far better singer), and they worked together to figure out the tune of the hymn. Shortly thereafter, we were able to find the correct version of the hymn, but by then, Dan had already figured everything out.

Daniel is extremely knowledgeable in how wedding ceremonies work, and just very good at what he does. Our rehearsal ran late, and he had to leave for another appointment before we had had the chance to do a complete run of of the ceremony. However before leaving, he asked all the pertinent questions related to cues of when he was supposed to play from our pastor. The ceremony went off without a hitch, and you would never have known that Daniel wasn't even there for a full run during the rehearsal!

We really enjoyed working with Daniel (Musical DJs), and if you're looking for a wonderful musician or DJ for your wedding, we would definitely recommend him!

I am so lucky to have chosen Dan LaMaestra to DJ at my wedding! He is not just a DJ but also an amazing musician. He played piano as my guests arrived at the church. It was beautiful! Dan helped me get a singer for my ceremony. His recommendation was the best.

Dan was the DJ at my reception. EVERYONE loved the music he played. I asked him to stay till 1 AM but he was kind enough to keep the party going till 4:30 AM. No one wanted to leave because the music was so good. Everyone tells me that my wedding was the most beautiful and fun wedding that they ever been to, thanks to Mr. Dan LaMaestra.

I have had many parties in my life and I have heard many DJs -but NO ONE can beat Dan. I had been dreaming about my wedding day, since I was a little girl. I knew that it had to be perfect. To me, music is very important. It sets the mood. Dan had every song down right.

I was impressed with his knowledge of music and how professional he was, when we first met. He met me a couple of times before the wedding and we discussed music and lighting. He played awesome music, set up lights and did so much more. He was worth every penny. In fact, I don't think that I paid him what he really deserves.

Dan arrived at the church at 2 PM, to set up for the ceremony and then the reception. He left my wedding at 6 AM the next day. He worked long hours. He was extremely helpful and friendly through the entire process. I know it is hard to be working 14 hours straight. Dan did it and was always pleasant to be around.

I wish that I could do my wedding all over again. It was so much fun. I danced all night. The ceremony music was beautiful. I owe Dan a lot. I have already referred him to two of my closest friends. I know that he is going to do their weddings, within the next couple of months. I can't wait to attend my friend's weddings and dance all night again.

I could go on and on. There is so much more that Dan did to help me make my wedding special. I really was happy with the service and I would pay him double what he asked just because he was worth it.

Dan did an excellent job with all aspects of the ceremony and reception that he touched, which were: ceremony music (including working with musician friends of ours), jazz trio during cocktail hour, DJing and even some lighting.

He was extremely professional and tasteful and provided us exactly what we had asked for--no more and no less (which we felt was key in a DJ). He listened very carefully to our music choices and clearly thought out how best to incorporate them into each aspect of the evening.

Dan also spent extra time coordinating with our other vendors to determine power needs and helped with recommendations in that area.

Finally, we found Dan affordable--the amount of value we got for our money was very high.

Dan Lamaestra was a great DJ and a pleasure to work with! He was very professional and went above and beyond as our DJ. The planning tools and other resources available on his website were very helpful in the planning process. We also worked through Dan for our wedding music. He was able to coordinate a violin and cello player for our ceremony and they did a beautiful job. I worked with MaryAnn (the cello player) to coordinate the wedding music and she offered us great advice to enhance the ceremony overall. The violin and cello duo were the perfect balance of sound for our location. Regarding the reception, Dan did an excellent job as the Master of Ceremonies and acted as our wedding coordinator to ensure everything flowed nicely. I really liked his DJ style, he isn't one of those cheesy DJs that drive guests crazy. He was very pleasant and had a great personality. We had one small snag with starting late but overall I would highly recommend Dan's services.

Our comparatively short engagement (6 months) proved somewhat difficult. The moment we knew of a vendor we booked them. Thankfully, this poorly researched method lead to an ensemble of mellow personalities, hard workers, and responsible individuals. John was no exception. Rain and smoke (who knew a swamp would be burning 140 miles away?!) prohibited our original outdoor plans. Whilst getting ready, I could not detect any flaws in his alterations to our timeline, and his strumming and singing were flattered throughout the evening. We continue to be so pleased with his extra time and efforts.
So why am I docking Musical DJs .5 on responsiveness? John's return time on calls and emails remained seamless. My only complaint would be with the main office. The wedding venue is a family home with questionable satellite internet access, and the first time I heard from the office regarding the timeline was during the week prior to the wedding via email. I would recommend solidifying directly with your musical DJ or have the main office send you a timeline weeks in...

The best guys you will ever get! Our wedding was the best party I've ever been too, and most of my guests made similar comments! I can't imagine having a better DJ.

Dan is one of several DJ's available at this company and did a fantastic job keeping the music relevant. The dancefloor was always packed and we received several compliments about the music selection. Very flexible and easy to work with, well worth the price.

We were happy with Musical DJs and would recommend them to future wedding couples. Our DJ, Freddie, did a great job for our wedding (both setting up microphones for the ceremony, and providing DJ services for the reception). He was extremely friendly and professional. We’d highly recommend Musical DJs. The owner, Dan, was very responsive and really strived to provide quality service and ensure that the customer was happy. We decided last minute to have a microphone set-up for the ceremony Officiant and readers, and Dan and Freddie made it happen even though it was only a few days before the wedding. Really appreciate their help and service!

The only one minor thing we noticed during our wedding was that Freddie did not play strictly from the list of songs we gave him to play. We had specifically chosen songs that were around 3 minutes each, and were either obviously a fast dance song, or a slow dance song. Freddie played similar themed songs, but some where quite long (one was over five minutes) and some where unclear as to whether they were a fast or slow song... so the guests weren't really sure how to dance to it. But overall, the guests had a great time and Freddie was incredibly nice and flexible.

If we could go back and do it all again, we'd definitely use Musical DJs again. We'd also use Freddie (such a nice guy!!), but just stress that we only wanted the song we provide to be played. :-)

Thanks Musical DJs for making our wedding such a fun time! And we REALLY appreciated the microphones last minute for the outdoor ceremony!

We had such a great time at our wedding, thanks to Dan LaMaestra of Musical DJs! He completely understood the atmosphere we wanted to create and the type of music we wanted. I sent him an extensive list of song ideas for the reception, and he did a great job at picking from that list and mixing in other songs. Our guests -- from little kids to our grandparents -- were up on their feet from the bridal party introductions all the way to the last dance.

Dan was also great with last-minute changes -- we added an LED light tree to our contract only a few days before the wedding. My sisters (also bridesmaids) contacted him by phone to arrange a surprise musical toast, which was awesome and surprised everyone in attendance. At the reception itself, he worked with my cousin to arrange another surprise for us.

All in all, it was a fantastically fun wedding with dancing from start to finish. We're still hearing about how much fun our guests had!

Dan did a great job! He provided a jazz trio for cocktail hour, extra lighting for the tent and he was the dj for the reception. He is completely professional and very responsive to emails and phone calls. I had several conversations with him before the wedding and he also came out to the house to do a walk through and make suggestions for the reception. He completely understood that we wanted a low key kind of dj that did not orchestrate the event with a lot of announcements. He kept things on track and when it was time for dancing, the dance floor was packed all night! My only regret is, that since the reception was in our yard, we took pity on the neighbors and had him stop playing at 11:00 pm, as originally planned. The guests could have kept going all night!

Dan was great to work with in a professional sense. He was organized, prepared & seemed to care about his clients. Unfortunately, he had another gig to perform at the same time of our wedding & we were given John Ware to work with. Dan made us aware of this shift; however, I think it would have been much better if Dan remained our DJ in the end. John was very quiet - to the point that hardly anyone could hear his announcements causing the bride's family to miss the cake cutting. I (being the bride) personally went up to the DJ booth 4 times during the reception to request song changes to keep the party upbeat, and I requested 2 people to request a song change in addition to my 4. I wish that John would have taken to heart that I was requesting up-beat music to get the crowd to dance instead of changing to mellow music. I do give him credit for always changing when I asked him to; however, I would have appreciated his 15 years of experience to allow him to know that the crowd responds to faster music, not slower.

The music provided really enhansed the experience, but I feel that the DJ didn't handle the event as well as he could have. My main dislike was that two days before the wedding, I was asked to provide all the details retaining to the reception. I had been in constant contact with the DJ's and this should have been brought up much earlier. We also were promised a "checklist/time line of events." We never got that. During the cocktail hour, the songs started skipping and the DJ was not at his station. I (the groom) noticed the songs skipping and pointed it out to a few people and had some people go search for our DJ to solve the problem. I'm sure it was a mistake that would probably rarely ever happen, but it did happen to me. The song's played were great, he responded to all our requests and played a few songs past the end of the event. I was extremely happy with his flexibility towards letting me play a song using his guitar set up. If there weren't those hitches prior to the wedding and the songs skipping, I would have given him 5/5 stars accross the board.

Dan is a rare talent. He not only DJs, but plays piano and is a musical composer in his own right. The classy and classic style of Musical DJs is a perfect fit with our professional and sophisticated clients. You won't get the YMCA and the Electric Slide with these guys (unless you ask, of course), as they understand the true elegance behind ceremony and reception music. They are subtle, understated and unassuming. We can't say enough good things about this team.
