Reviews for MyPublisher
I decided to try them out and got a book made for a valentine's day present. I have to say that the software was easy to use, pages came out fine (although I thought it would be on thicker paper), and overall it looks good. My parents were impressed and I would use them again, but there aren't as many design and layout options as there are in shutterfly.
We used a 50% off coupon and ordered the “deluxe” book. My husband actually designed it and did a great job! The quality is really great (but not great enough for a wedding album, in my opinion).
I got two albums-- one for my Mother and another for my Grandmother. They turned out beautifully. I would order from them again. I used a buy one get one free coupon for two deluxe albums and that was a great deal.
I will also be ordering from Picaboo to compare. =)
We created a Deluxe Hardcover book with 57 pages with pro pics from the wedding, and used the buy-one-get-one-free coupon. The coupon was fantastic, and the books came out nicely. I did notice between the two books, the photo quality was not consistent, but both books turned out ok (just a little different in quality). For what the books cost, I'm happy with the finished product. I know my family members receiving the books will be happy with them, too. : )
When My Publisher prints correctly, the print quality is not bad. It isn't the best but that would mean you would have to pay more. If you look very closely, you can see print lines but at a reading distance, you won't notice. At first I thought the pages were thin. I guess I expected them to be thicker, but now I think they are decent. I think they are like the 65lb paper weight.
I ordered a sample to test out the quality and to get a real feel of their margins. They messed up on the printing. They skipped printing on the back of page 1 so all my facing pages were off by a page. I contacted customer service and after a few emails, they gave me full credit towards the next book purchase. They ended up giving me more credit than I paid. Their customer service is fast and so far a good experience.
My Publisher always has discount codes so it's a good alternative to buying an album from the photographer. It's also something fun to do if you enjoy it, but it can be very time consuming if you decide to design the page layouts yourself. I used Paint Shop Pro to design these layouts. It took me over a month to do these layouts.

E-pic guest book
I made a photo book using our e-pics from MyPublisher and had guests sign around the photos as our guest book. Guests wrote messages to us, kind of like a high school yearbook. It was a big hit and much better than just getting the names and addresses of guests, which I already have, who attended! To make my book, I used the Storyteller templates and left the text areas blank so there was plenty of room on each page for guests to sign. Something I didn't know before was to use acid free, archival, photo safe markers. I used Sharpies and people said they fade over time. I hope mine doesn't fade too much but definitely remember to get those special markers! Since the wedding, I've also made photo books out of my honeymoon and non-pro pics. They have both turned out great! I highly recommend getting the leather upgrade. It makes a big difference. For my e-pic guest book, I ordered the larger size at amerasianchic's recommendation but now I think it's too big. We have a hard time finding a bookshelf in our home to fit it.
Since my review, I've also made photo books out of our non-pro pics and honeymoon pics. They both turned out great. I definitely prefer the Classic Hardcover size over the Deluxe Hardcover. I got our non-pro pic photo book with the leather upgrade. It also makes a huge difference and definitely worth the money for an important photo book! I love these photo books so much that I'm planning to make one for each member of our wedding party and our parents as gifts!
I made several DeLuxe hard cover books at MyPublisher and they came out great. The software was easy to use and had enough templates to use. I love that they have the largest book of all that I found (11.5 x 15) which looks really impressive. Their option to design your own book jacket makes the book look even better. Definitely worth it for the price.
We used MyPublisher in conjuction with Diana Richardson of Story Board Studios(see my review and contact info for her).
The price was good and couldn't be beat. Since Diana created and designed our books she handled the ordering process as well. I hear she had trouble on their end with some mistakes and printing errors. Our books were delayed twice and we didnt get them from her until 4 weeks after she submitted the order to MYPublisher. But I love the way they turned out. We chose the coffee table books with the celadon cover and they are amazing. Love them! I think it was $50 for the lare books and $30 for each smaller book. We even got a deal with buy one book get one free. So we got each parents a book and ours for a total of $80. Loved it.
Very easy to use software. I liked the quality of prints until I saw a real professionally made book.
I had problems with MyPublisher. I use Shutterfly for some things and the quality seems to be more consistent.
I ordered the Deluxe Hardcover book for our photoguestbook. Though easy to use, I didn't like the layout they provided and ended up making my own. I felt the forums were very helpful. Quality came out great (since Deluxe has the highest grade of paper). Only thing was I felt it was a bit expensive. $100-50% coupon + $20 shipping = $70 USD = $90 CAN + UPS brokage fee $15 = $105 a bit to much for 22 pages.
After I got the CD of images from my photographer I made a book from MyPublisher. The prices were great and it looks completely professional. Much better than I expected!
In order to test out MyPublisher, we decided to make photo books of us growing up for our gifts to our parents. We gave these out at the Rehearsal and everyone loved them. It was a little tricky getting the hang of the software, but when we got hard cover books with covers in the mail, we knew it was worth it! Inside, we had photos from when we were young all the way through growing up. On the left were pictures of me, and on the right were pictures of him. Then, near the end of the book, we got to the pictures of us together while we were dating and everything up to the wedding. I thought this was really cool, and very well done.
I put a bunch of our engagement pictures in a book with lots of white space for signing. Mypublisher's program is limited in its options and I think the price is a little high for what you get. Overall the quality was fine and the shipping was fast. Guests loved seeing our pictures and now we have a cute way to keep our e-pics and the guestbook.
