I was an out of state bride who had to correspond with Myriad cake design mostly through email and I was so pleasantly suprised to see the cake picture I had given to her was exactly the way my cake looked. It was beautiful and everyone raved about it. Lots of people took pictures of my cake because it was so awesome ! The favorite layer seemed to be the red velvet. Which is also my favorite. I would highly reccomend Myriad to everyone !

Marion did a great job on our cake, and worked with me entirely through email which was really nice and helpful. I made a few changes after I met with her and each time she was responsive and worked up a new quote for me reflecting the changes. We did a simple cake with a rustic buttercream frosting, and it turned out perfect for the style of our wedding. We also had a chocolate cake with a salted caramel filling that everyone was complimenting! She delivered the cake and added fresh flowers on the day of the wedding, the cake exceeded my expectations when I saw it.

Our cake was beautiful and delicious. We asked for flavors that weren't listed on the brochure (chocolate peanut butter, coconut with coconut,
German chocolate, and chocolate with hazelnut mousse), and that was not a problem. I heard one of the layers was dry, but the slice I had was moist. The overall cake was decorated exactly how we wanted, with flowers provided by our florist beautifully arranged by Marion.
We also got our guest favors, red velvet cake truffle balls, from Myriad and they were perfectly decadent.

Marion was very responsive from the first phone call. She was able to answer all of my questions and was very flexible when I changed my mind several times about what I wanted.
I had a very specific look I wanted for my cake and Marion got it just right. We got a three-tier lemon poppy seed "little white cake" with raspberry mousse filling and even ordered an extra cake so there would be servings left over. The guests loved it! Many people returned for seconds and even thirds! There was just one little piece left at the end of the night.
Not only was the cake beautiful, it was delicious!! And it was very reasonably priced!

Ok, so I had a kind of wild custom cake concept so I knew I had to go with a vendor that had some serious decorating skills. She is immensely creative and her execution was flawless.
It was also very important to us that the cake was as unique and wonderful on the inside as the outside so I was completely sold when I saw her very large array of flavors. We went kind of wild with the flavors:
Top tier: Banana cake with peanut butter ganache
Middle: Lemon cake with lemon curd filling
Bottom: Chocolate cake with a chocolate mint ganache
Our guests gobbled down the entire cake AND the sweet pies we had ordered. It was amazing.
She was professional, really helped us figure out what we wanted and it all came off...

I just got a mini "white" cake for my wedding since I was having someone else make the cupcakes. Even though it wasn't a big order, Marion was super nice, fast to respond, and even willing to deliver the cake to the venue. The cake was delicious. It also looked perfect. We had only exchanged emails, but she got everything perfect (lemon yellow color with brow polka dots). I was thrilled with my interactions and the product.

All I can say is Marion on Myriad Cake Design is the BEST. She was extremely helpful from day one! We had an unusual request - a custom snowmobile groom's cake for my husband in addition to a traditional wedding cake cake for me and multiple flavored wedding cupcakes for our guests. From the first email correspondence to the in person meeting to the final delivery, I never had any doubt we picked the perfect person for the job.
The wedding cake was perfection, the cupcakes adorable and the groom's cake stole the show. Every detail on the snowmobiles was perfect. One on my husband's groomsmen works for the manufactuer of the snowmobiles featured and him and his wife both commented on how accurate all the details were. Marion was able to do this all from a picture!
I have been to several weddings where the cake was gorgeous but when we got our slice it had no flavor and was literally like eating air. Well, the cakes from Myriad are probably the best I have ever tasted and they were devoured by our guests even though we ordered enough cake for there to be extra. People went back for seconds and thirds even though they were stuffed from dinner. The dessert was that irresisitable.
If you are looking for a cake designer, artist, baker extraordinaire then Marion at Myriad Cake design is the person for you. My husband and I were both so impressed and thrilled with her service and the quality of the cakes that we can't wait to celebrate another occasion where we can order another cake from her. :o)

Marion's cakes are amazing. We had about 80 guests at our wedding, but ordered a cake for about 140 guests. We had no more than 10 slices left at the end of the night. It was a beautiful cake, just what we wanted.

I had a wedding cake as well as 5 sheet cakes made for my wedding. She also made sugar flowers that looked SO real!! Everyone said it was the best cake they had ever had! I will always use Myriad for my future cake or dessert needs. I also love that on my 1 year anniversary I get a replica top tier anniversary cake! Marion was always so accessible, even if it was a busy time for her, she would still make time to respond to emails or phone calls. She definately made the cake one of my most favorite wedding details to plan. Thank you so much, Marion.

Marion does create beautiful cakes to look at but they were completely dry and unflavorful. The display was poorly and quickly done. I had mini cakes with several flavors and if you ask most of the guests no one could differentiate the flavors and they were so dry. I was promised a tiered display and she threw a couple of cakes on the table and the rest in the fridge. I was so disappointed and unfortunately this what people remember as it is the last thing they ate.

I don't know if this critique is legitimately from one of my clients. The only client I had that day raved to me and the wedding planner about how great the cakes were. The venue didn't even HAVE a refrigerator, and many of the cakes were coated in chocolate ganache, which no one could ever describe as "dry and tasteless." Even the photographer told me how much the guests loved the personal cakes they got. I'm baffled. Plus, I find it interesting the reviewer did not leave her name.

I was glad my husband and I got the first pieces of our wedding cake. Because if we had waited even 20 minutes, it would have been gone! All of our guests gobbled it up like cake was going out of style, and I got lots of compliments from everyone about it.
Not only was the cake delicious, but Marion was really a pleasure to work with. I showed her my dream cake from a magazine and she made it happen. My cake called for fresh flowers which had to be added a few hours before the wedding. She did a wonderful job arranging them (even though the florist was late and didn't bring enough flowers)! How are the sizes for wedding cakes figured?
By the number of guests you want to serve. A standard wedding cake slice is 1 inch-by-2 inches, which is pretty small. If a caterer will be cutting your cake, he or she will be able to maximize the number of servings intended for a cake. If a family member or friend will be cutting, you are better off estimating on the high end for the number of servings needed.
I want a three-tiered cake but need to serve 200 guests. What are my options?
A three-tier cake can only serve about 100 people maximum. You can add sheet cakes, cupcakes or table cakes as way to feed all your guests.
How are cupcakes displayed at weddings?
Myriad has cupcake towers available for rent or platters may be used. A nice presentation is a series of lifts and levels covered in a drape upon which the cupcakes may be arranged. Some couples prefer to have a small centerpiece cake and the cupcakes waiting in the wings until it’s time for them to be served.
What is fondant, and what does it taste like?
Fondant is a sugar product, kind of like edible modeling clay. It has a neutral sugar taste like marshmallows or cotton candy. It mainly is used when temperature is a concern or when the cake design requires a certain base material. It is draped over each tier on top of a thick layer of butter cream. Although it is edible, most guests just pull it aside before eating their slice of cake. Many designs, such as those featuring real ribbon, will only work in fondant.
Do you offer tastings?
Yes. Complimentary tastings are scheduled once per month, and couples usually get to try three to four cake-and-filling combinations. Tastings often are done in conjunction with the consultation. We also display at the Oregon Wedding Showcase every January, and several flavors are available for sampling there.
When will my cake be baked?
Two to three days before your wedding. Myriad cakes are never frozen.
Will you deliver and set up my cake?
Yes. The setup and delivery fee is $35 in the Salem area, $75 to Lincoln City and $90 to Newport. Other delivery destinations are priced based on distance.
How do I save the top tier for the first anniversary?
The custom of freezing the top tier to eat on the first anniversary has been less popular recently, but some couples still prefer to follow it. Wrap the cake tightly in alternating layers of plastic wrap and foil, then place it in a box so it won’t get smashed. Put the box in the back of the freezer so the temperature will fluctuate less. If you prefer to serve the top tier of your cake, Myriad offers an anniversary cake for two for $25, which is ordered at the same time as the wedding cake.
How do we cut our wedding cake?
Myriad can provide a cutting guide if needed.
Do you sell toppers or monograms?
We make sugar monograms for the fronts and tops of cakes. We do not sell figurines or metal letters, but if a couple wants to provide these items, we are happy to add them to the cake at the reception site.
Do you provide sheet cakes?
Yes. White butter cream-covered sheet cakes are $50 and serve 50.
How is payment handled, and in what form?
Half of the estimated cost of your cake is due at the consultation, and the remainder is due one week before the event. Any order not paid in full one week before the event will be canceled. The first deposit is nonrefundable. Payment may be made by cash or check.
Can I have my cake outdoors if I'm getting married in the summer?
Yes, but a fondant exterior is required, and some fillings, such as cream cheese, won’t be options.
How can I save my date?
A $50 save-the-date deposit will hold your date. Myriad only takes one cake order per day, so couples are advised to save their spot as soon as they know they want to hire us to make their cake.
If I want a cake plateau or platter, who provides it?
Usually the customer provides special display items. Marion can advise you of which rental companies in the area offer these types of cake stands.
