Nancy Liu Chin Designs

Nancy Liu Chin was absolutely amazing to work with for my wedding this past October. Her flowers were absolutely beautiful and she 'got' what I was thinking and my style right away. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted and she patiently worked with me to connect all my ramblings to an actual design. I was living abroad while planning my wedding and she was very flexible with how and when we spoke... she downloaded Skype and bought a headset so we could talk cheaply!Her work is creative, artistic, and unique - and her enthusiasm and clear love of what she's doing comes through in her designs and in the day-to-day of planning. She was also instrumental in helping me work through a few broader design issues, e.g. floor layout, reception flow, etc., which was above and beyond and that I very much appreciated. I was so pleased with the flowers on the actual day and enjoyed working with Nancy very much. She comes highly recommended.

As all the reviews have already expressed, Nancy Liu Chin is a GENIUS! And worth every penny. My husband and I were planning our Labor Day 2010 wedding at a winery in Sonoma Valley from Boston, then New York, and then DC. But our experience with Nancy made it feel like we were really close by, even though we were planning a destination wedding 3000 miles away. She was always available by phone and email to brainstorm the most creative ideas or alleviate anxieties as the wedding day came closer. Of course, I love flowers, but I can't say that I know much about all the millions of types, kinds, colors, exotic varieties. That's where Nancy comes in.

I interviewed seven florists from the Sonoma Valley area in person but no one even came close as impressing me as much as Nancy. You read that right - I interviewed SEVEN florists in person. We were on a pretty limited budget with Type A personalities as budding lawyers but she worked with us anyway. I couldn't imagine that anyone would have been as committed to making sure our wedding was absolutely perfect. Nancy is brilliant and talented - just look at her portfolio or better than that, just meet her in person in her studio. You will not be disappointed. My bridesmaid from NYC is also getting married in Sonoma next summer and hired Nancy immediately.

As other reviews will tell you, Nancy's bubbly, awesome personality makes her a wonderful person to work with through the wedding process - she's sweet and kind - but when it comes down to it, the reason you hire her is because her work is sheer brilliance. She has an amazing eye and awesome taste in style that you have to be born with. She will work with you patiently, listen to your ideas, and transform your wedding into the wedding you always dreamed of. This is because Nancy genuinely cares about her work and will only give 150 percent, because she is a perfectionist. She will be super enthusiastic about your wedding from start to finish because she is so incredibly passionate about her work. I had some amazing vendors but she was by far our favorite. You can tell when someone loves what they do - and that's the kind of vendor you should be looking for. Thanks again for everything Nancy!!!

NCLD is a class act! My fiancee and I loved being a part of the design process as we watched Nancy sketch out our ideas onto paper. Nancy even took us into her workshop to play with different kinds of flowers, colors, and vases so we could see what worked out best. Nancy was willing to work with us in spite of our lower budget, and she was very strict about staying above that minimum! She was always professional--a true businesswoman, while remaining warm during our interactions. I would recommend NCLD in a heartbeat!!

I had my wedding in May 2010, and chose Nancy Liu Chin Designs for our flowers. NLCD also provided the Chivari chairs we rented for the ceremony. Nancy and her team did an absolutely fantastic job! When I first met Nancy, she immediately got a feel for my style, started sketching, and helped direct me towards a more focused design, (since I came in with a very broad array of inspiration photos!). I felt completely comfortable handing Nancy the reins. I had seen so many good reviews and so many beautiful pictures of her work, and I knew she would pull it off. I wanted to give her the freedom to practice her talent, in fact, I was looking forward to being surprised with the results. I was beyond pleased, the flowers were stunning!

Nancy Liu Chin is hands down the best floral designer in the Bay Area (and likely beyond) and an absolute must for your wedding. She is a professional. Her creativity and raw talent is incredible. This woman is all about design and quality of flowers. Flowers are difficult because you don't know what you're actually getting until the day of the event. Planning a wedding is a lot of homework already as it is, but with Nancy she gives you more than just flower arrangements, she helps you design and conceptualize. We had no idea what we wanted exactly or where to begin, but she holds your hand and gives you *options*. We got a sample arrangement, didn't like it, told her that we didn't like it and she *worked* with us. She turned a difficult moment into a moment of opportunity--and that made the difference. When we saw what she created at the wedding we were blown away. Everyone was speechless and we got constant compliments about the flowers. The color scheme we discussed--astounding. The way the flowers were supposed to look--excellent. Her timeliness--impeccable. Her pricing was very reasonable and she gave realistic estimates as to what our asking price would get us. She worked with us on that too. She genuinely loves her customers and she helped us get the biggest bang for our buck. She also surprised us with "bonuses" that really knocked our socks off at the end of our wedding. She's so bubbly, genuine, positive, and flexible. A real pleasure to work with for a person who regularly does bigger events than ours. We came away loving her from start to finish--especially the finish. We are extremely satisfied with our flowers and our choice to choose Nancy. She really took our wedding to the next level! Thanks so much Nancy!

At the start of our wedding planning, flowers were seen as one of the necessary evil - a very expensive one for that matter.

Neither of us care so much about flowers, we made a pact not to give or expect a dozen long-stemmed roses at inflated price during Valentine's Day, Ange couldn't tell what hydrangea, peonies, or carnations look like, thinks that (but for the colors) all flowers look the same and doesn't like the fact that flowers are so... fleeting.

All that changed when Ange met Nancy, one of the florists recommended by the good people at The Ritz-Carlton. The first impression she's got was of her bubbly personality and friendly demeanor (OK... the fact that she bribed us with delicious beignets is also a factor). Then as she showcased her portfolio, there was this one picture of the centerpiece that was exactly as Ange had envisioned, and then some. Nancy even hooked her up with admissions to the awesome Wedding University (TM) at the Four Seasons few weeks after their meeting!

Since flowers are expensive (yet) necessary evil, why not go with one of the best the Bay Area could offer? At least you end up with one that's aesthetically pleasing.

I used Nancy for my August 2009 wedding and she was absolutely amazing. She made wedding planning enjoyable, less stressful and most of all fun! Nancy did my floral design as well as event design. She was the best investment we made for the wedding. Everyone in my family (including my hard-to-please chinese mother) agreed!

Nancy not only did an amazing job helping design my dream Lake Tahoe wedding, she went above and beyond when it came to supporting us on-site. She did everything and anything that needed to be done and her team was awesome as well. She managed the rentals for me, helped me figure out how to hang lanterns, helped make the cake beautiful, set up all the tables, placed flowers everywhere and pretty much took care of every single detail and more. Not only did she take care of everything, she was also so much fun to work with. I loved almost all her ideas and vision and loved that I could be honest with her when I didn't!

Nancy surpassed all of my expectations. She designed me a beautiful wedding and also took care of all the millions of details that enabled me to enjoy the day!

If my new husband would let me renew my vows every year and get married all over again, I would - and I would have Nancy design it every time!

nancy has a natural talent for design and creativity. i consider myself a control freak when it comes to creative decisions, but she is one of the few vendors that i would completely entrust with her creative vision. i was kind of overwhelmed with all of the different options as far as floral design went, but with just a few key words and the venue location, nancy quickly envisioned a theme and concept and whipped up an elaborate design. she transformed the space into something dreamy and magical, even with a limited budget, which is a testament to nancy's talent (people said it felt like a celebrity wedding). to top it off, nancy has a very friendly and exuberant personality that makes her so much fun to work with.

Nancy is simply amazing! Nancy was our florist and event designer for our May 2009 wedding at the Fogarty Winery in Woodside, California.

She did such a fantastic job -- I can't begin to tell you the number of compliments we received on all of the floral arrangements. People were fighting over who got to take over the centerpieces!

Nancy has an incredible eye for what will look good for your event. She will offer you a lot of creative suggestions, but won't try to force her ideas on you and will work with you to make sure your flowers and event details suit your setting and theme. I was able to give Nancy a general idea of what I wanted along with a picture and she came up with something so much more beautiful than I could have ever expected!

Nancy is an amazing person and her work for my wedding was simply breath-taking. What more can I say? ;-) I wasn't planning on spending much on flowers but at the same time, I wanted my wedding to be simple and stylish. I know, it's difficult to fulfill. But I was lucky to find Nancy's website and 'mesmerized' by her beautiful portfolio. I wanted those fascinating flowers too! If you're looking for a florist/floral designer, then Nancy Liu Chin Designs (NLCD) is DEFINITELY the place to go. As a bride, you'll need to deal with many vendors and sometimes, some of them can be quite frustrating to work with. However, Nancy is definitely not one of those vendors. She was one who I DIDN'T mind dealing with. I thoroughly enjoyed working with her. Not only is Nancy a pleasure to work with, she is also EXTREMELY creative and talented!

Prior to our first meeting together, I didn't have an exact idea on what I was looking for. I just knew the color scheme and types of flowers that I liked. During the meeting, she spent more than a hour talking to me to try to get me to open up about what I like and figure out what I was looking for. After that meeting, I knew that Nancy was the one. I didn't need to look any further. She understood that wedding costs can easily add up, so she tried her best to work with my budget, which my husband and I are grateful for.

After millions of emails, meetings, and phone calls, Nancy drew up the PERFECT proposal. One of my requirements was that she had to use orchids in a certain color and arrange them in a modern design for my centerpieces. I felt complete confidence that Nancy was not going to disappoint me. And let me tell all you brides, if you walked into my reception, you would have been completely blown away. The reception looked like a floral fairytale. I'm serious. My guests could not stop talking about the flowers, even to this day. All the flowers looked AMAZING, from my bouquet to the centerpieces. Not only did Nancy not disappoint me, she went way BEYOND my expectations.

Nancy is SO wonderful. She was the first floral designer we met and no one could compete! This was one of the few appointments my fiancé attended and Nancy, understanding that tear sheets and color schemes wasn't really his thing had a box of chocolates ready - a huge hit with him. Nancy and I spent nearly 2 hours going over colors, styles, different flowers and what I was looking for from a floral design perspective. To say that she understood my vision is an understatement. Our centerpieces ended up being something that Nancy showed me during our first meeting. There were many changes and additions throughout the planning process, but Nancy couldn't have been more accommodating. Every time I saw her or emailed with her I could feel her genuine excitement for what we were doing. My mother-in-law also worked with Nancy for our rehearsal dinner and she still talks about what a wonderful experience working with Nancy was - my wedding was last August. I can't say enough good things about her except that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nancy to anyone planning a party, a wedding, a shower, anything where you need impeccable taste in floral design; Nancy will make your event extraordinary!

Nancy has an amazing talent of making one's vision come to life. It took us no more than an hour to put all of the ideas together and come up with a unique and beautiful design for the reception and ceremony areas. She was the first florist we talked to, and we booked her right away as she was so in synk with our own ideas. I would strongly recommend her services.

Nancy met with my fiancé and I for three hours during our initial consultation and within those three hours she transformed our wedding from ho-hum to InStyle, celebrity-edition. Nancy is wonderful! So stylish and modern. So fun. Full of great ideas. She visited my wine country venue with me and came up with even more ideas. The result was abolutely breath-taking. The flowers floating in the fountain were beautiful, the rose petal lined aisle was exactly what I had envisioned, and the centerpieces were the most beautiful I had ever seen.

I love Nancy! She has a very bubbly personality, is extremely creative, and always exceeds expectations. When I met with her for our first consultation, I loved how she organized her portfolio into different color schemes - it was a very professional and beautiful presentation. We talked about the intricacies of the ceremony and reception location, and she gave me lots of tips and advice on how to turn the venue into something special by making the most out of your budget.

Since I am having my ceremony at Saint Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco, we both agreed that adding flowers to the pews and benches would not make much of a difference so it would be better to spend money elsewhere.

She suggested color schemes for Yank Sing based on the coloring and architecture of the building - suggesting either a red/brown combination, a lavender/green combination, or a orange/gold combination. She also knew some of the intricacies there that I didn't know, like the vases needed to be less than 6 inches in diameter or the waiters would remove the centerpiece from the table to place the food down. I later emailed Joy (from my reception place Yank Sing) about it and she confirmed that Nancy was correct. Thanks Nancy for bringing it to my attention!

I *love love love* Nancy and I really wish I had booked her for my wedding. I took a few weeks to think it over during christmas break and unfortunately someone else booked her that day!

Nancy has impeccable taste and seems to know exactly what you desire for your wedding after talking to you at the first get-together. We wanted simplicity, with a splash of color. He suggestions were what we were looking for and there was no need to talk to any other possible florists afterwards. We ended up with a beautiful centerpiece in white and pink, table pieces with the same flowers in clear vases filled with stones/rocks, a breath-taking standing arrangement for the ceremony, and gorgeous petals for the runner as well as wedding cake. It couldn't have been more perfect. Her work reflected our personalities and stood for utmost elegance. Kevin and Nancy make up an incredible team. If you work with both of them, a beautiful wedding is basically guaranteed.

Of all of my wedding vendors, Nancy Liu Chin was the most fun to work with. From the moment I walked into her beautiful studio, she was flowing with great ideas and I was immediately hooked on her infectious personality. The flowers were so lovely and what a bargain! I shopped around a bit and could have paid much more for mediocre flowers, but these bouquets were exquisite and blooming fresh.

Nancy is amazing! I loved working with her. She has a great personality and clearly knows what she is doing. My husband and I were indecisive about what we wanted but Nancy was able to steer us in the right direction. We told her what our site looked like and she gave us a color combination that worked perfectly with our site. Nancy also hooked us up with our linens and chairs for the reception site. She worked the flowers to match with the linens and it looked amazing.

Very patient as I combed through her files to determine my look for the wedding. She followed instructions and colors exactly as how I had envisioned. The final product was more beautiful than I would have imagined. She thoughtfully created more than one crown of ivy since I did not know the size of my flower girl's head at no charge. She may suggest different ideas but will ultimately listen to what you want.

Alex and I are just back from Hawai'i and wanted to touch base to make sure no additional balance is owed to you. Please let us know if there is.

We also wanted to thank you for your services. The flowers were just beautiful and just brightened up the rooms at the City Club. The burnt orange with green highlights worked so well and also inspired the great linen and lighting choices. I was happy to see that you were able to use a variety of flowers so that it wasn't too rose-heavy. My bouquet was beautiful - clean and tailored but soft enough for the dress and hair that I ended up having. And the other bouquets and boutonnieres were great, too. I was so happy to see that my dad got a nice big orchid - he was throwing it, after all! Alex's looked fabulous with his copper tie, too. Best of all were the tables at the Club - our guests were really impressed. They kept raving about the different floral arrangements and especially the use of floating candles on the head table and on the cake table. The petals you put out on the cake table and the flowers you gave to Maralyn to use with the cake really were great finishing touches. All in all, it looked so perfect. We were very happy with it.

We also really appreciated your many referrals. The linens, the lighting company, and the coordinator turned out to be great. Thanks for that reference.

I just want to thank you for the beautiful flowers you arranged for Carolyn and Jeff at their wedding. You had to work with a rather difficult color and style for a wedding, orange and contemporary, and managed to turn Flood Mansion into an elegant, sophisticated and warm place.

The variety of arrangements, the choices of flowers, and the various shades of colors and textures you displayed are all interesting and gorgeous. The light green hydrangeas in the flower pots outside worked simply and perfectly with the style of the building.

Even my long time flower arranging hobbyist friends were impressed with your talent.
