We started browsing for engagement rings last summer (2009) and went to one of the majorly advertised ones... just to look. Well what's a 26-letter word for bad experience? "We went to Jared's and it was AWFUL." They were so pushy and asked us our budget and surpassed it entirely. They kept telling me how gorgeous every ring was and how I must feel like Cinderella. I was like really?! And then they decided to "check our credit limit" but instead actually sign us up for Jared credit cards and not tell us. All my fiance wanted was to be able to by the ring himself and surprise me and all they wanted was a sale that night. We ended up leaving that night with no ring and I'm so glad we WALKED AWAY!!
A few week's later we went into Nelson's and they were so wonderful! They let us browse on our own and told us all about their diamonds—they hand pick each one themselves and are beautiful. They sometimes pick diamonds that are just under the carat weight to help save for the consumer, for example if you want a carat they'll have a .99 carat and it'll save you a couple thousand dollars. I found a beautiful setting and wedding band set for WAY below our budget and I loved it more than any of the others I saw. (BONUS)
We went back a few weeks ago to pick out my fiancé's band and to resize mine. They are very prompt and even took my engagement ring and cleaned it while we were looking. Overall they are a wonderful family-owned establishment and would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone!




We purchased all of our wedding jewelry from Nelson’s Jeweler which included my engagement ring, two wedding bands, and a watch I got my husband as a wedding gift. My husband and I had gone into the store to look at rings and found a couple that we really liked. There was one that I definitely liked the best (and luckily that was the one I got)! My husband actually ended up purchasing the ring when he was away on business in Sweden for 6 weeks. He wanted to make sure it was ready for his proposal when he returned, and he was able to do so because Nelson’s Jewelers was very accommodating and went above and beyond in this sort of strange circumstance. Unfortunately a month after we got married, a defect in my husband’s wedding band became apparent as it was a platinum and white gold band fused together, and they had started to come apart. The jeweler was very quick to agree to replace the ring at no cost to us. The only inconvenience during this time was that it took longer to get the ring back than they said it would. Although it was most certainly a manufacturer’s delay, we would have liked to be kept more in the loop about the timeline. It wasn’t until we called, that we were updated on the status. Otherwise, we were very pleased with their service.
