Got a call for the store today stating that due to unforeseen circumstance this store is closed indefinitely. They will be at the store this Friday July 29 2011 from 4pm-7pm. Anyone who has a dress at the store, it can only be pick it up then. That is the only day and time they will be open.
Payments need to be made in cash or personal check.
I am so sad to see them go. My girls got their dresses from them and one still has to pick hers up. I had nothing but great experience with them and hold the highest amount of respect for them, as I have heard of many store not notifying clients of their closure, or not being able to contact clients because clients have changed their contact information. Just wanted o give everyone a heads up..
My matron of honor and I looked for bridesmaids dresses at nonchalance during an Amsale trunk sale around September of 2010. My matron of honor made an appointment but it took awhile for someone to help us since it was only the two us. They tend to help more brides with the larger groups it seems to me. The Amsale rep seem to also help only those with larger groups but we fell in love with the dress that we decided to purchase the bridesmaids dresses at this store to take advantage of their sale. The only way to take advantage of the discount was that we had to purchase them by the end of October (my wedding was not until June 2011). Fortunately, my 6 bridesmaids were OK with the dress that we decided to purchase them in October to take advantage of the sale even though my wedding wasn't until June. At the same time, I found out that one of my bridesmaid was a few weeks pregnant but the style that I chose did not have a maternity size. I was so happy to hear the good news that I gave her the option to get a different stlye Amsale dress in the same color. A few months later (around January 2011) my bridesmaid that was expecting had a miscarriage. My matron of Honor told the store about this to see if they could change the dress and size for my bridesmaid but the store was not able to change it because the dress was already being made so there was nothing that they can do. We were also supposed to have the dresses by February but didn't receive them until March. Also, they gave us two styles of the maternity dress instead of one which happened to my Matron of Honor. They were supposed to follow up with us as soon as possible but my matron of honor had to contact them for a follow up almost every week. I still don't know why they messed up our dress order. This was also very frustrating especially since my girls paid for the dresses in October and were supposed to receive them in February but didn't receive them until March. My matron of honor didn't receive her dress until mid April! My wedding was on June 11th and as every bride/bridesmaid knows you want enough time to make any alterations to the dress. Although they have great designers and dresses at their store, I don't recommend getting bridesmaids dresses at this store. Once you fork over your money to them and sign the contract, they don't seem to care about you and anything those goes wrong is in the fault of others not the store.
I purchased my girls' bridesmaids dresses here and I liked them. They called me today to say that their business closed. I guess my dresses aren't in yet, because they didn't mention that they will be open this Friday to pick up the dresses.
Be careful, because when I called the designer to find out the status of my dresses, she told me that Nonchalance hasn't paid for any of their orders, unless they were orders that were already placed and nearly ready to go out. I would just be careful to make sure they didn't take your money and run.
We initially went in on a Friday afternoon and it was quiet. We basically had the run of the store, and they let us do our own thing and were very accomodating. My bridesmaids all ordered their dresses over the phone; they were very easy to deal with, and they give you a discount if you order multiple dresses. They also provided me with a sample of the dress color so I could match the ties. However, I would avoid that place like the plague on the weekends; we went to pick up the dresses on a Sunday and it was a madhouse. It took forever to get out of there and the other patrons were incredibly snotty and self-absorbed.
Nonchalance was absolutely wonderful! They were more than accomodating with everything and even let me borrow the store sample of the dress to send to a few of my out-of-town bridesmaids so that they could get an idea of their right size when measurements were coming in weird. I have nothing but great things to say about Nonchalance!!
I would NOT recommend this location! I chose this spot because although the prices were slightly higher than other dress boutiques the great discount they gave for ordering 6 dresses made it the best price overall for my bridesmaids. However the discount turned out to be the ONLY good thing about this place. When I 1st visited with my mother, aunt , & 3 bridesmaids they were friendly, but the store was overcrowded despite my appointment. On every other visit and phone call the staff was EXTREMELY RUDE giving me conflicting information each time!!! And they ordered the wrong size for my sister. The dress was too small, but luckily my mother was able to order fabric and alter it.
Nonchalance provided my 6 bridesmaid dresses. They were beautiful! The shop has the best selection in the area and a helpful and patient staff. We tried on a TON of dresses. Kristin, the owner, is exceptional and lovely to work with. The dresses came in right on time -- 4 months from order placement. Highly recommended.
Service provided was amazing, great discounts and selection. Great place for BM's, MOH, MOB and MOG to get their attire from. Highly recommended.
I was a little hesitant at first because one and my BMs got there and no one even said hello. I realized there selection was huge so I decided to ignore being ignored and started looking at dresses. We found a couple dresses we liked and then the sales person came over to help us. She was really nice and helpful and i was able to let go of my annoyance and chalked it up to the store being very crowded. Since that moment they have been great! The owner was really good with my BMs and MOHs. The dresses came in on time as expected and the girls went to their own tailors.
I think they may have the biggest selection of BM dresses in NJ
A+ ~ I felt that nonchalance and the store owner was very helpful. I had a huge bridal party and a lot of dresses to order. They gave us a good discount and all the dresses came in 2 months before the wedding, when ordering them 6 months out. Only one girl had the issue of her dress being too large for her, but I don't know if she lost weight since we ordered. they were even good with sending one of the dresses back due to the manufacturer making a mistake and it went back to the manufacturer and was back in time after being fixed. My mom got her MOB dress there and it was cheaper than where she originally found it and she also got a discount. My now mother inlaw got her MOG dress there and received the discount as well since I had gotten my bm dresses there. Only 4 ppl had their alterations done at nonchalance alteration store (Flair) 2 of them had good experiences and the other 2 were not so happy but their dresses looked fine day of and fit right so I'm not sure if I could say that they werent just over reacting because they wanted everything to be perfect. Everything turned out great and all my girls looked amazing day of!
this is a little boutique, but i LOVED it!!! They catered to all our needs and even opened up on a day they were suppossed to be closed just for my bridal party and myself...the service was fantastic and the girls were superb and very professional...the dresses were absolutely beautiful and at such a great price!!
Wow! I must say I'm absolutely shocked that this place received such rave reviews. I'd like to give my two cents now...
I was a bridesmaid in my best friend's May 2006 wedding. She picked out a great dress from Nonchalance - a Watters and Watters strapless A-line, floor length gown. The price was excellent (under $300) and I was excited to order because it was a flattering dress. Now I'm by no means a petite woman - I'm 5 foot, 9 inches tall and at the time I was measured, I wore a misses' size 10 (an 8 on a good day). I have a large chest (36D), a tiny waist, and proportionate hips - an hourglass figure. Now, logic would tell you that with an A-line dress, the only measurements you need to concern yourself with are the bust and the waist since the dress will be cut plenty full at the hips. So I go into the store to get measured and am told by the very snotty saleswoman that I need to order a size 18 dress and pay extra for the extra material and the extra length. I was measured over a thick, baggy, wool sweater in the dead of winter, even though I asked to be measured in my underlying tank top.
I informed the saleswoman that her measurements were not accurate and I did not need a size 18. I argued her down to a size 14 after she made me sign a waiver stating that I was ordering against the advice of the store, and, should the dress not fit, the store would not be held responsible. I was told that bridesmaid dresses ran at least 2 sizes smaller than normal sizes and I believed this since that was the case with my own wedding gown from Vera Wang. Of course, maybe I should have done more research because apparently Watters & Watters bridesmaid dresses run pretty true to size. I also refused to order the extra length because I doubted that I would need it.
When the dress arrived, the only good thing about it was the regular length, which was perfect. I'm all legs and probably the only bridesmaid that didn't need the dress hemmed. However, the dress was SO huge that when it was zipped up, it fell down to my ankles - my LARGEST measurement (my bust) wouldn't even hold the dress up. It was that huge.
Of course, the shop was snotty and tried to tell me I lost weight (I didn't) and it was my fault the dress was too big. Let's keep in mind that I needed to sign a frickin' waiver to order the dress 2 sizes smaller than they thought was appropriate!
It took not 1, not 2, but 6 alteration appointments to make the dress look relatively decent and it never did because I have the waist measurement of a normal misses' size 6 and there was just way too much fabric at the waist. After the third set of alterations, they wanted to CHARGE me (hello, waiver form, *ssholes?). Of course, I pitched a fit and all alterations were free. But I had to leave work 6 times to make these alterations' appointments, so I would say this place sure isn't worth the hassle.
In fact, I'd venture to say this is the worst bridesmaid experience I've ever had. Want to buy a tent of a bridesmaid's dress? Please let me know...
