My hubby and I loved working with Shanna and Michael. They were awesome! We are premiering our video and all the raw footage by inviting our family and friends. I am so happy to have had a super8 video so unique and fun to gather everyone we love around and share forever with my husband! Not only did they listen intently to our dreams for the video, (when we recieved the video we were completely surprised that they chose music we had completely forgotten having told them were "OUR SONGS"), they responded quickly when we had questions and were very professional and pleasant to work with!

I highly recommend! Thanks Micheal and Shanna!

To capture your special event, look no further than NOSTALGIA FILM!!

We couldn't have stumbled upon a more talented, visionary, hilarious, cool, and creative company to film our big day. We struggled with hiring a videographer for our wedding, not because we didn't want one...but because we were so spent from everything else. After tapping many shoulders for advice, and scouring site after site, we decided to go for it. Advice from 99% of our friends was, "You are sooo busy that day, you don't catch everything". They were right and we are SO THANKFUL we hired Nostalgia.

We have both Super 8 and HD footage to cherish forever. They captured moments we completely missed as well as those we recall and want to watch over and over. And to top it all off they are so open to your ideas, yet are so freakin creative you'll smile, cry, and laugh throughout the whole thing. So many wonderful touches were added we weren't expecting. Such a treat! We loved working with Shanna and Michael and would do it again in a heartbeat. Worth every penny (and more).

What types, such as unedited footage or special effects, of videography do you offer?

We can do almost anything our clients dream of--just ask us.

Describe any special editing services you offer:

We love to edit to music to tell a story for highlights films. We are very creative and flexible in our editing.

Do you have lighting equipment to accommodate a more dimly-lit event?

On-camera LED lighting for HD. Super 8 isn't the ideal medium for very low light situations, but we have a couple tricks up our sleeve.

How many videographers do you work with?

Just a husband and wife! We do have referrals if need be for the high season.

Does the client get to meet the videographers before the event?

Of course! It's so important that we get to know and are comfortable with each other, so that we and the cameras are less obtrusive on the wedding day. Plus getting to know our clients helps us know how to create their unique film. Let's go grab coffee or a drink and chat. Or we can talk over Skype.

Do you guarantee your presence at the actual event?

Yes, either Shanna or Michael will be there depending on the package; usually both!

Do you book yourself for more than one event in a day? Weekend?

No. We prefer to have only one wedding in a weekend, though sometimes Michael might work a commercial, music, or sporting event in the same weekend during the busy seasons.

Do you have a replacement videographer in case you become unavailable on the event day?

We do have referrals if need be, but we don't expect this to be an issue, aside from an extreme emergency.

What kind of equipment do you typically bring with you on the day-of?

A lot! Two HD cameras, tripods, lights, audio/mics, multiple Super 8 film cameras, and more.

Do you bring backup equipment to the event in case of malfunction?

Yes - batteries, cameras, and more!

What is your policy on taking breaks? If you require a meal break, do you require that the client provide your meal?

We do ask that the client provide something for 6+ hour weddings. We like to take a dinner break during the dinner. It's a good time, since no one wants to be filmed eating anyway!

Do you charge overtime?

We charge hourly over the hours stated in our packages, though we've been known to stay a bit longer than our contracted hours occasionally when we are having fun shooting!

Do you give access to your raw footage?

We can. Just ask to talk more about it, and the mediums on which we could provide it.

Do you reserve the right to use the video in the future for deals, contents, etc.?

Yes, we do, for promotional/portfolio purposes.

Is the client involved in the editing process? If so, how much input does the client have in editing?

We are flexible on this. We love clients that let us have creative control, but we also love input on what will make your film special for you! We also welcome input on the kinds of Super 8 you love--very vintage or more fine film, black & white or vivid color.

How long does it take for the client to get the final video?

Approximately three to four months from the wedding date, though it can be longer at certain times of the year when we're shooting every weekend. Turn-around time will be clearly stated in the contract, and we will keep in touch with you to keep you posted. Contact us for special circumstances and rush edits. We don't prefer "same-day edits" because we want to give you a final film to cherish for a lifetime made with thoughtfulness and care.

Do you require a minimum number of hours to book?

At this time, our smallest offering is a six-hour package.

Additional Advice

Super 8 film and 8mm film are the iconic film formats on which most silent home movies from the 1930s through the 1970s were shot. Super 8 is a very nostalgic medium, launched in 1965 and popularized in the 1970s, as it ganined mass appeal. The flickers and film grain evoke an emotional response, and the look and feel of the grain and color of authentic film brings back happy memories of yesteryear.

We like to shoot on actual film because film images are created through a chemical process of an emulsion on celluloid film, which creates a look and feel with vivid colors, greater variation in contrast, and fine grains that cannot be reproduced by modern electronic video. Through the process of telecine, the film can be converted to a digital format, including HD.

Combined with our creativity and artistic eye, we feel that Super 8 film, with its romantic and nostalgic feel, is the perfect medium for capturing cherished memories. Like many of the old home movies from the past, the Super 8 films we shoot are silent, and we artistically edit the images to music of your choosing. However sound can be incorporated at an additional expense with Super 8, or through the use of using HD video for key moments.
