Reviews for NYC DJ's
I initially contacted Danny way back in about November 2005 for our wedding which was then scheduled for June 2006. We met because we felt Danny had very reasonable prices for the two speaker set-ups we wanted (both in the courtyard for the cocktail hour and in the reception room). However, after meeting with Danny, we were impressed with his style and personality. After we postponed our wedding, Danny was really very sweet about it -- he didn't charge us a penalty or anything, just agreed to show up on our new date.
I was really bad about giving him the forms he needed and had a lot of changes I made at the last minute. All of our music was perfect. We didn't have long or extensive must play (or do not play) lists and trusted him to select music within the genres that we liked. All of the choices were on point. He got people dancing of all ages -- from 7 years old up through guests in their 70s. In fact, some of our older guests were talking about how much fun they had dancing a week after the wedding.
I highly recommend Danny's service. He is a true professional and a good person.
OMG, Danny and his staff kept the party going until the end! We gave him some lists of the music we wanted but he pretty much directed the reception himself, AND DID AN AMAZING JOB! The dance floor was never empty and everyone was comfortable with the music he was playing. He asked us to give him a request list, a do-not-play list, etc., and he did a really good job of honoring them. We also used NYC DJ's to do the videography and Colin, the videographer was to be found everywhere with that camera! We can't wait to see the results, but from the sample videos he showed us to seeing their work ethic at our wedding, we know we made the right decision! Thanks for the sweet music and capturing the most important day of our lives so far!
I booked NYC DJ's for my wedding in Dec 2008. Danny wasn't available so Jon Brown DJed for the ceremony and the reception. My groom and I were so pleased with everything pertaining to the music.
When we initially met with Danny and Jon we explained we didn't want certain music like the YMCA and the chicken dance played during the wedding. We wanted to dance and have fun but not to cheesy music. The music played during the reception was awesome! Once the dance music started, the dance floor was packed until the very end of the wedding. A variety of good dance music was played and it appealed to everyone.
My groom and I had so much fun dancing. We also received a ton of compliments from younger and older guests telling us they loved the music.
NYC DJ's was excellent. My wedding wouldn't have been as fun and memorable without them.
Danny is awesome. We hired him on the spot when he was the only DJ we visited who knew what we meant by a "buddha bar" vibe. He just got us and our tastes so well, and we were very particular about what we wanted. The music he played was spot -on all night. From the tranquil buddha bar stuff prior to the ceremony, to the special italian dancing music he brought himself as a surprise for my husband (husband's family is Italian and they LOVED it!). Danny kept the party at just the right pace all night and read the crowd perfectly. I have since seen him DJ at a friend's wedding also and he was great at her's too. Danny is a very talented DJ and a warm, caring guy - highly recommended!
Danny was the DJ at my Santa Monica wedding in September 2007. He was fun, energetic and overall FANTASTIC! We didn't have a wedding coordinator but Danny easily took control and made the night flow smoothly -- entertaining our mix of Filipino and Jewish guests ages 3 to 80 years-old and everyone in-between. My husband and I didn't provide Danny with a laundry list of songs but rather a general idea of what we would like to hear and dance to. He did a great job reading the room and the energy. He had 25 year-olds dancing to the classics and 60-somethings dancing to hip hop. Our guests couldn't believe that the playlist wasn't planned beforehand!
Another super thing about Danny was that he was easy to communicate with and very quick with replies. Knowing that my DJ was there to answer all my semi-bridezilla questions was really comforting because other vendors sadly sucked at this.
The videographer in Danny's company did the video for the wedding. It was something we sort of added if the budget permitted. Thank goodness we did because the video looked great and we were able to see so many of the things that we missed out on while we were busy with the whole process of getting married :)
I've already recommended Danny to friends and acquaintances and he will be the DJ at one of my co-workers' upcoming wedding. I just wish I had another big party to plan so Danny could dj for us again!
Danny was an incredible DJ!!! His staff also did our videography. We had our wedding at the St. Regis in Monarch Beach. He met us months prior to the wedding just to get a feel for what we wanted. Closer to the wedding, we met again to go over details of the reception order and music choices. He also made our photo montage for our wedding that everyone loved. In addition, he was able to incorporate a slideshow in the background (of me and my dad during my childhood)during our father/daughter dance.
He did an exceptional job of keeping the crowd on the dance floor. He played music that kept both the young and old happy. He was so easy to work with. I had a wedding coordinator as well...and he worked well with her agenda.
We had a great night and his videography was done promptly after the wedding and it turned out great! I highly recommend him!
If you are planning a conventional, chicken dance, "everybody get out on the dance floor and boogie to '80s hits"-type reception, this is the dj for you. If you want something unique and classy, stay away. Danny assured us, when we met with him months before our wedding, that he understood our desire for an Ibiza/lounge vibe at our reception. He also said that he understood that we wanted no dancing (besides our first dance and father/daughter) in the reception area (we had a band waiting upstairs for an all-night party). We returned his paperwork with very simple, clear instructions that there was to be no pop, no booty-shakin' favorites, etc. -- just Ibiza/lounge for dinner with an extra setup in the courtyard to keep the slow vibe out there later. Over the course of the evening, we got Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, and Edith Piaf. Then, after dinner, he played a bunch of pop and got our guests dancing, distracting from the $2500 band upstairs. During our dinner, as he was eating his vendor meal, the music went dead silent at least twice. This was repeated (no idea why) later at night in the courtyard -- dead silence, Danny nowhere to be found. When I complained to him, both at the reception and later, in writing, I got a "whatever" or no response. There are so many djs in LA -- Why choose one who comes off as smooth but can't handle himself on the actual day?
Danny was fantastic. Music was a huge concern for us and he went above and beyond. He surpassed our expectations. Our wedding was last September and we still get compliments on what a fantastic job he did. From the way he paced the evening, order of songs, and most importantly, how he got the vibe of the crowd. That was the most important thing and he nailed it. We highly recommend him. He's the best.
Danny was so kind and fun the night of our wedding! He played exactly the right music at the right time, kept the crowd dancing, and was the epitome of class. He was so great that at the end of the night my new husband ran to our room to get his checkbook so he could add to the cash tip I'd prepared for Danny!! He was the *best* vendor at our wedding, bar none.
Danny definitely gets a five star rating from us! We got married on March 15th in Palm Springs, CA. Danny and his crew were amazing at the wedding. We purchased an all in one DJ/Video package which included 5 hours of music, a slide show montage, pics from the wedding playing on a slide show in the background during the whole reception, extra lighting and a video. The pictures were amazing and everyone at the wedding really liked that added feature. It was nice to get a sneak peek at what our wedding pics would actually look like. The photo montage was also very professional and extremely well done with alot of added features. Danny did the ceremony and reception music and everything went perfectly. There were no equipment glitches. We got married outside and the sound was great. You could hear the music very clearly. I asked for some more rare collections of music and Danny had it all in his library. So he carries a very wide range of music. The reception was really fun thanks to Danny. He got every up dancing and all the guests really remarked how fun the wedding was. I have a friend that came to the wedding that is getting married in October and she asked for his information she liked him so much. You definitely can't go wrong with NYC DJS. I give them my highest recommendation!
Danny made planning the wedding entertainment so easy for us! We needed some music for the ceremony in one area, then some music in another area for cocktail hour while the ceremony space was quickly transformed into the reception. He had everything covered. I didn't have to worry about a thing!
We had a salsa themed wedding complete with a choreographed dance routine. Danny was great about following the time-line we had set for the evening. He did exactly what we needed when we needed it! He had everyone from kids to my 92 year old grandmother dancing. My father was grumbling for months before the wedding about DJs and how he was going to be so far away from the obnoxious music he assumed they would play. Imagine my surprise to see my father dancing all night! He has never done that- ever!!! Everyone was surprised to see him dancing!
It was fun to see the wedding video afterwards and see just how much fun people were having on the dance floor. It passes by so fast for the bride and groom, so it is nice to re-live the fun. Thank you Danny!! It was awesome!!
Finding the right DJ to compliment your personal style on your big day is one of the most important decisions to make when planning your wedding. My husband and I are a little on the alternative side, so it was important to us to find a DJ who would play the music WE liked instead of the music you may typically hear at weddings. We had interviewed a few other people who assured us that they would play whatever we wanted, but, we just knew that those other dj's were not right. That's when we found Danny at NYC DJ's. We brought him a list of the music we wanted to hear, as well as a general time line because we wanted to play our indie music during dinner, but spice it up with dive bar classics like Bon Jovi during the dancing. Danny was familiar with ALL of our musical selections and had no trouble getting his hands on the specific songs from our request list. Our wedding could not have been better. All of my friends have asked me who my DJ was because the music was so fantastic. Not only did the music get everyone on the floor, but we actually couldn't get people off the dance floor... even after last call. Our wedding was so special and was exactly what we had hoped for and more, thanks to Danny and his musical stylings. Since the wedding, I have started planning weddings myself and will always recommend Danny to my clients. David (husband) and I feel very lucky that we found such a great person to be a part of our wedding, and we know that he will do as great a job for your big day as well!! Trust us - he won't let you down!
Best,

This review is long over do.
My wife and I married this past Jan. in downtown Los Angeles at Cicada.
Our guests still tell us to this day how much fun they had and how for many it was the best wedding they've ever been to.
My wife and I both agree that Danny's music selection and professionalism contributed to the rave reviews we still get today.
Danny made the whole process easy and actually fun. Danny literally hand picked music based on our brief conversations and simple music selection worksheets.
It was truly an eclectic night of music with Mariachis, Traditional Greek music and Danny tying it all together with his music selection, he was our personal Nick Harcourt.
It was a great sound track to a perfect evening.
We highly recommend Danny!
What can I say, Danny was awesome. He did exactly what we asked and he helped make our wedding the Best Wedding in the history of Mankind. He had to put together some special mixes for the ceremony including this awesome Office processional that we requested. He played all the songs and artists that we wanted and took requests from the crowd that met our specifications. We did not have a wedding coordinator and so he helped us with the Cake cutting. He was patient and understanding as we sent tons of emails with all these ideas we had and he delivered every time. He has a great a demeanor and is the kind of person that is easy to work with. Danny is worth every penny and then some.
Our wedding was on June 13, 2009. While Danny is located in the Los Angeles, he made the trek to Lake Gregory for our Wedding. There was one reviewer that suggested Danny is not classy, this is far from the truth. He did everything we asked, we did not want rap and very little hip hop as its not our style and would have turned off our guests. He did a great job and good times were had by all.
Best,
Paul and Jess.
We met and interviewed 5 separate DJs and DJ companies. In the end we selected NYC DJ's, and specifically Danny. We did not use a wedding coordinator, so establishing and maintaining a good working relationship with the various vendors was a key criteria in our selection. Both of us (groom and bride) really liked Danny on a personal level from our initial interview, which was only reinforced by his follow up. Once selected, Danny was a pleasure to work with in terms of providing ideas, helping us shape the flow of the evening, and all around providing excellent suggestions to help improve the event.
The wedding reception itself went very well. We were at a new resort, so we had quite a few issues to deal with (no external lighting, etc.). Danny helped calmed everyone down, went out of his way to resolve the issues, and made sure that everything happened behind the scenes so the guests were not aware of anything out of the ordinary.
His DJ and Mic skills are excellent, and I fully agree with the other reviewers here that he was worth every penny and then some. Our crowd was generally in the mid 30s to late 40s, and the music selection was very good. At one point, he even managed to get the parents, in their 70s, to dance to a couple of songs while keeping the dance floor fairly occupied.
All around, an excellent DJ that I would fully recommend to anyone.
I used Danny Farrell from NYC DJ'S and he was AMAZING! He knew exactly what to play, and how to get the crowd going (he even taught us some salsa moves). He coordinated with all my vendors and kept everything flowing smoothly. The dancefloor was constantly packed and my friends are still talking about it.
We hired Danny for our big wedding day last year and he truly was a hit. If you want people out of their chairs and dancing the night away, you can trust that Danny will make this happen. He was present when he needed to be and kept the event rolling. We didn't hire a wedding planner so it was up to Danny to move the night along and he did a wonderful job. The song choices were perfect with a mix of all types to appease the older and younger guests.
Since then, I have had several friends request Danny's information and one friend has already used him for her wedding. So, I have seen him in action twice and was really impressed on both occasions.
I would recommend NYC DJ's to anyone and everyone!
Just what the doctor ordered.............Danny's abilities as a DJ were appreciated by everyone in attendance. All our guests commented on his selection of music. I was pleased to heat that he had a sense of what they might enjoy. His diligence and focus on the Bride and Groom made the party a great success. As Father of the Bride, I wanted everything to go off prefect. Tending to all my guests and following up on last minute details, I was pleased with Danny's handling the music portion of the evening. I look forward to utilizing his services for future events.

Professional, fun, great energy, experienced, and a really great guy you want as your DJ. That was our experience with Danny of NYC DJ's. He provided the music for our wedding in June 2007 at the Arboretum in Aracdia, and it was perfect. He played everything we requested and then added in some great music from the same era we didn't even think of.
Danny came to our home, spoke with us about our wedding and ideas for music, asked very good questions and made us feel comfortable and at ease.
The night of the wedding, he helped move things along (as we had no coordinator), took charge and worked with our other vendors to make sure it ran smoothly. Everyone was on the dance floor all night! We still have friends calling us about the music.
We're going to use his services again for another party coming up. Danny is the best!!!
Danny did an incredible job at our wedding and it was a true party. We were hearing even months later from friends and family how much fun and how great the DJ was. I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Danny is quite simply the best DJ/MC I work with. He is energetic, reads a crowd well making him great host MC. He plays a great mix of music and is very intuitive on his choices making him a great DJ.
It's awesome when you come across a DJ who's actually not cheesy! He definitely kept the party going at the reception, which made for fun and lively photos on the dance floor. Their videographer worked right alongside us at times, and was friendly, easygoing and professional.
