My husband and I worked with Joanna at Oak Mill Bakery and she was more than a pleasure to work with. I knew I wanted a unique, memorable cake for my wedding, but just couldn't stomach paying a lot of money for something that would only be a centerpiece for a few brief moments of my reception and then eaten later. She helped us find a way to enjoy a beautiful display cake without breaking the bank. I am still receiving compliments from friends and family about how delicious the cake was.

Everyone loved our wedding cake. And they should, Oak Mill Bakery is one of the best. I thoroughly enjoyed working with them. The cakes they are able to design and the multiple flavors are outstanding. In fact, we ate the top cake tier the first week after our wedding. We decided we'd rather purchase a fresh cake from them for our anniversary. The bakery also offers fancy grooms' cakes if you are looking for this option. They are completely trustworthy and so easy to work with. I frequent the shop now just to buy their cakes and other baked goodies.

Our cake was incredible! We had a package deal with Independence Grove - Catering by Michaels Co, and they work with Oak Mill on Milwaukee and Oakton - we did a 4 tier cake - each layer had a different cake/filling - white cake w/passion fruit moose, carrot cake, chocolate cake w/chocolate ganache and raspberry filling, and strawberry shortcake - it was delicious! Thank you

I absolutely loved our cake, it was beautiful, I felt they listened, were very easy to work with and extremely reliable, and the price was great. Everyone commented on how beautiful our cake was.

Oak Mill Bakery is the place to go to for desserts and espcially for wedding cakes! i ordered my wedding cake from them and it was so worth it. i ordered the ambrosia-to DIE FOR!!! it was pricey but worth every dollar..

We had our cake and sweet table with them. They did a fantastic job. Each tier of the cake was also a different flavor.

Oak Mill bakery was outstanding. They took my idea that I wanted for my cake and put it into reality. The cake was amazingly beautiful and tasted just as good. I still have my wedding guests asking me where I got the cake because they just cannot get it out of thier head. :)

Our cake from Oak Mill Bakery was delicious! We chose vanilla with buttercreme frosting and fresh strawberries. It was included with the package from our venue, but prices for "upgrades" were very reasonable (25 cents/person for hexagon shape instead of circle, 35 cents/person for fresh strawberries inside, and they worked with my mother to get us a 4 tier cake when our guest count with the venue would have been three tier). We went to their bakery to do the tasting and were impressed with the quality of the baked goods. Highly recommend!

I love oakmill bakery for many years now. their cakes are delicious and I knew I wanted them to do my wedding cake! It was so easy to work with them through Lido banquets you just let them know your flavor and your design and no more worries. they call you in advance to confirm the order and your cake is delivered to the reception! Gorgeous i wish i could freeze it and put my cake on display! Thank you oakmill for making my wedding cake as delicious as it was!!

The cake was wonderful! The bakery was recommended to us by our recpetion site, since that is who they use for thier packages. We were able to go down to the bakery, do a taste test and create a unique cake. (2 layers of yellow cake, a middle layer of poppyseed cake and lemon curd filling- tasted just like a lemon poppyseed muffin!) We were also able to mix and match aspects of a few cakes to help make our cake just what we wanted. Becaue the cake was included in our package, we only had to pay for a few of the extras, which was not that expensive.

Our wedding cake was from Oak Mill Bakery and it was not only a thing of beauty to behold but it was absolutely delicious!!! We have used Oak Mill for numerous other occasions and they never disappoint. We also had them deliver a pastry tray for later in the evening - also fabulous!!! We had rave reviews from all of our guests. I would highly recommend Oak Mill Bakery.

I have been getting cakes from Oak Mill Bakery since I was very young. To use them as our wedding cake vendor for our wedding was only a given. Oak Mill was very professional, quick, and responsive. Their cakes were very very reasonable in price within a very reasonable budget. The cake was delivered and setup at the reception venue perfectly with all the appropriate "after-care" for the top tier of the cake - materials to preserve it for the one-year anniversary "eat" should we have wanted the option.

Holy cow, our cake was AWESOME! I was a little worried because our budget wasn't very high, but I feel like the bakery and staff went above and beyond to give us a BEAUTIFUL cake that fit our theme perfectly! I even called 2 days before the wedding last minute and had them add roses to it and did so all over the phone and it totally wasn't a problem. I was so impressed I sent them a handwritten thank you with photos. Highly recommend this bakery! (and their chocolate ganache cake!)

I had gone on my own during the week without an appointment and was able to view each binder. My fiance and I returned at a later date for our actual appointment. We picked a great combination of kiwi/strawberry with custard filling and a special sugar coating on the outside over buttercream. Our guests raved about how great the cake was and that they couldn't believe it was real since it looked so stunning! My husband and I ended up eating half of the top layer we took home and froze the rest regretfully. If it's not that great after being frozen for a year, we are happy to know we can go over and order another cake at any time! Basia was wonderful to work with. Thank you!

Delicious wedding cake for 400+ people. Great service. Bill at the North Ave location was a pleasure to work with. Followed up and made sure we were happy with our decision. Absolutely wonderful! The cake was a beautiful white cake with raspberry filling and fresh red roses on top and cascading down the side. The taste was fantastic! We received many compliments from our guests!

We absolutely loved our cake. We had a fall themed wedding. So, when we went to meet about our cake we looked through books and talked with the cake expert about what we wanted our cake to look like. She took down notes and lisened intently. When it was all said and done and we saw our cake on our wedding day, it turned out to be exactly what we wanted. Very beautiful and delicious as well!!! Overall, we had a great experience with Oak Mill Bakery. We ordered from the Niles location.

Oh my gosh! Oak Mill's sweet table was amazing! We ordered the deluxe sweet table and were not disappointed. I have attended many weddings with sweet tables, but none can compare to Oak Mill's. They do more than provide sweets, their offerings are truly pieces of artwork. The table was decorated to compliment the decor of the wedding and everyone admired it. Basia helped tremendously in helping us choose a variety of sweets for everyone's tastebuds. Desserts were served throughout the evening by an attendant and were replenished constantly so that there was never an empty plate. Guests were given boxes to take home some treats and our server packed up any remianing sweets at the end of the evening for us to take home. Noone went away empty-handed.

My sister used Oak Mill for her daughter's wedding 11 years ago, and her guests still talk about it 'til this day. That is why we decided to have Oak Mill for our July 17th wedding. I think the sweet table will be the talk of this wedding for a while as well. You won't be disappointed. Well worth the money.

Our Wedding cake came from Oak Mill Bakery and was very good. We went with the square stacked style 1/2 chocolate 1/2 vanilla with strawbery filling.

We added some red rose petals to dress it up a little more.

Our guests commented to us that they thought the cake was very good.

Our cake was definately the centerpiece of the reception! We chose chocolate cake with custard, whipped cream and fresh raspberries - delicious!!! Not only was it beautiful but it tasted great too.

The cake was absolutely delicious- everyone loved the buttercream frosting and commented on how beautiful and unique our cake was. We had a military wedding and had decided on a white cake with navy blue hearts on it. A few days before the wedding, the Oak Mill Bakery called me to recommend a slightly lighter shade of blue as it would improve the look of the cake. I really appreciated their taking the time to look out for these little details. The cake was included in our package with the Bull Valley Golf Club and we were given many choices as to the kind and shape of the cake, as well as the opportunity to add or change things for a fee. Ted and I decided to pay a little extra for square layers and we were glad that we did!

Our wedding cake was perfect! It was exactly what we had looked for. Basia at Oak Mill was very helpful when we met with her, and we were offered a wide variety of cakes and fillings to taste. Oak Mill also created a special anniversary cake for my husband's parents, as we were married on the same day 33 years later. They did a great job, and all of our guests raved about the cakes!

A cake from Oak Mill Bakery was included in our package at the hotel our wedding was at. I couldn't have picked a better bakery myself. It was super easy to choose the cake and I never had to worry about anything after that! Our cake was gorgeous, and more importantly--delicious!

We received many compliments on our wedding cake, and I personally loved it. We set up a tasting with the bakery, and during the tasting looked through 20 binders of cakes they had created to get ideas for what we wanted our cake to look like. I ended up taking designs from several cakes I saw and combining them into one cake, making each layer have it's own style. I drew a picture for the bakery, and they were able to perfectly execute the design. The cake was delicious, and more important to me, it looked great. We received tons of compliments on the uniqueness of the design.

The cake tasting was a wonderful experience. plenty of options to choose from and wonderful service.

Cake was delicious. We took two different pictures of cakes and had them modify to our liking. The made the cake just as we imagined it. We did have a little problem with them, but that was because the regular girls at the bakery did not know what they were doing when I came to pay the money for our extras. I did not pay that day and talked with the manager the following day, everything was straightened out when I spoke with her. The sweet table was also delicious!

Sweets table was to die for. It was gone in a matter of minutes, people started eating from it before they were even done setting it up.

We had to go with Oak Mill for our wedding cake as part of our reception site contract. Therefore I was very pleased to find out just how good a quality Oak Mill turned out to be. At our tasting we met with Basha at the Niles location. She was very nice and very helpful. We found a beautiful cake design that went perfectly with our wedding theme. It was reasonably priced, and tasted good enough for the price. At our tasting we agreed that the cakes we tried tasted much better than they did at the wedding. However, those of us who were at the tasting were the only ones disapointed. All of our guests thought it was great.

The Greatest Bakery in Chicago - without a doubt. My family has used them for years and it wasnt a question where I would get my wedding cake. Go taste test and see - you will be amazed. the strawberry is amazing - the champagne cake is amazing! Highly recommend!

The cake was amazingly beautiful.The wedding cake we got from them was excellent!! Everything came in on time and we were treated in a very professional manner, I would recommend advantage bridal to anyone. I made my appointment and went to it. She sat down with my husband and I and we were able to pick what we wanted and how we wanted it. My cake was so beautiful that at my wedding reception no one wanted to touch it because they thought it was the most beautiful thing they had ever seen. It tasted great too.

Bryan Swisher Photo was amazing! Al, our photographer, was really nice and very hard working. He quickly and smoothly directed all of our posed photos and took very good candid photos too. Great price! Only thing is the wedding books were a little expensive, but that my be the case anywhere.

We had a delicious cake. We went through our reception site, as they contract out with Oak Mill, so we didn't get a choice of who they were going to use. But, they cake was really great and we had a lot of compliments on it. Looking forward to the 1-year tasting!

Our cake was actually included in our package at the reception location. There were two different bakeries we could choose from. However, just by looking at Oak Mill Bakery's website, we knew that we liked their style better. The cake was wonderful, although I didn't get a good look at it in it's uncut state, the pictures I've seen look great. It was exactly how we wanted it to look.

Initially we had ordered a specific shape. However, several days before the wedding, they called us, saying that it didn't look good and wanted to change the order of the shapes (We had a four tier cake with 3 different shapes -- circle, square, hexagon). Their decision definitely paid off!

Not only did the cake look wonderful, it tasted even better. Oak Mill also provided our sweet table goodies which were also delicious!! If you want an awesome looking and tasting cake/sweets this is the place to go! Our only little hiccup was the delivery of the cake toppers -- at one point they disappeared but they were found prior to the wedding.

The venue where we had our wedding reception used Oak Mill Bakery for our cake. We were very pleased with how the design turned out – it looked just like I had imagined! The cake itself was good, but not fantastic. That's probably because we didn’t go for the upgraded fillings (we were already having a dessert with our catered meal).

Oak Mill Bakery makes the most amazing wedding cakes I've ever tasted. During the planning process, we tasted so many cakes from so many different bakery's. Oak Mill by far makes the most flavorful, moist delicious cakes I've ever tasted. The hardest part was deciding which flavors to choose on our 4 tier cake. I took a picture in of the cake I wanted and Basha (I'm not sure if that's how you spell her name) executed it perfectly!!

I will definitely go back to Oak Mills if I ever need another specialty cake.

They were easy to work with, and they were very flexible. The cake tasted great, and it looked fabulous.

I initially contacted the vendor because I was impressed by what I saw on their website; unfortunately, they never responded to my email. I looked further but ended up back with them once I chose my reception site, whose package included the cake -- from this vendor. I had no problem making an appointment and the staff was helpful in making my vision a reality. While the design was probably not too complicated, it also was not typical in its appearance since each tier was different from the other. The cake tasted cake and looked great too {although it did lean a bit to one side}! I could not have been more pleased with how well they took my ideas and made them a reality.

Absolutely loved my cake. It turned out great. Less is more on a cake and thats what really make their cakes stand out.

We worked with Basia at Oak Mill to order and design our wedding cake. We were planning the wedding long distance, but Basia made the process very easy. The cake - dark chocolate with raspberry and chocolate ganache layers and ivory buttercream frosting - looked and tasted exactly as we had hoped. We were able to save a bit by asking our florist to add real flowers on the cake, rather than pay for Oak Mill to do the decorating. Oak Mill's prices are competitive and their service is wonderful!

A wedding cake was part of our catering package at our venue, Eaglewood Resort, and Oak Mill is the bakery they use.

Initially, I was unsure about the vendor. There were a lot of places in Chicago that were hipper, cooler, more modern, more fun, etc. Oak Mill felt old-fashioned, but not in a nostalgic way.

But since we were already paying for a cake from them, we made a tasting/design appointment. First we looked at the cakes that were included in the package- boring, boring, boring. So we decided to pay extra for a more interesting cake. We talked about designs, which was frustrating since there wasn't anything in their book that was exactly what I wanted. We tabled the design discussion and went on to the tasting. The cake was good, the toppings ranged from ok to very good. The combination of chocolate cake with fudge and raspberry jam was a revelation! Amazing!

So we did more research online, and I brought in a photo of a lopsided cream and white cake that was funky yet sophisticated. They did a beautiful job! Not only was it stunning, but everyone said it was the best wedding cake they'd had!

We received our wedding cake as part of the package from the hotel where we had our wedding. While they dont have the most modern designs, the cake was way better than any other I have eaten at a wedding. We did a black forest cake and it was delicious! We also purchased a sweet table from them. It was a great variety and a perfect late night snack for everyone!

The buttercream chocolate/vanilla cake with fudge filling was very good. And the sweets table was outstanding in both presentation and taste.

We ordered our wedding cake as well as sweets table from Oak Mill and we got a million compliments from our guests on how beautiful the cake was, and how wonderful all of the sweets were. Our cake was chocolate and white with chocolate ganache and rasp preserve filling. It was delicious! Many of our guests took a second piece! Working with Basia was a pleasure. My only complaint is that I received several phone calls on my honeymoon telling me I hadn't paid for part of my sweets table (which I indeed had paid several weeks earlier). They kept calling and calling until I finally was rude with them and asked them to stop interrupting my honeymoon. I guess they figured out their error because I haven't heard from them since. This was quite unprofessional.

All in all it was a wonderful bakery...they just need a little help in the customer service/billing area.

The cake turned out delicious. This is the preferred vendor for my reception sight and I can totally understand why. We got the raspberry mouse filling with white cake and vanilla frosting. It was delicious!

while the price seemed a little high, the cake was great, and it was delivered and set up at least 6 hrs before the reception, basically, the little contact we had with this vendor was great

The cake was decorated beautifully! We had red velvet cake which was delicious and we received many compliments on it.

The only problem was that when I was selecting the cake the woman was sort of impatient with me even though I was able to decide within 20 minutes. When I went to pick up the cake the girl at the counter was not very friendly either. This may be because I don't speak polish so perhaps it is a cultural thing.

Either way I would return because the cake was beautiful and tasted great. As for pricing, I think they were moderately pricey (anywhere from $6-$8/slice for a reasonable cake plus additional charges for everything....) but as I said the cake actually looked like the pictures they had in the store.

I wanted a cake with the smooth finish of fondant but with the great taste of buttercream. They did a GREAT job decorating the cake. It was exactly what I wanted from the outside. The cake itself was very sweet (too sweet for me but I don't usually like cakes). My guests liked it and that is all that matters. It also looked beautiful on the pictures.

Our caterer worked with Oak Mill Bakery, and a standard cake was included in the package. We went to pick out our cake, and then upgraded to their highest tier package when we tried a slice of their signature cakes.

As food was pretty important to us, it was worth it to pay the extra 1.25/person to have a delicious and phenomenal cake. It was delicious on our wedding day, and thaws beautifully even three months later as we're eating it.

I was annoyed that all the nice fillings were so much extra, and the higher tiers were more complex and complicated. The tasting felt rushed to make a decision too at their Niles location. But, in the end, the cake was fabulous and beautiful.

Overall the tasting of the cake is awesome. However, if your reception place includes a cake, your cake selection is very limited. They will charge you for all extras like, ribbons, dots, designs, etc. But overall, it was good.

They do excellent work but are lacking on customer service. Their spots fill quickly and the girl that does the wedding cake planning doesn't work all day. When I got there she said here is what we need to figure out and gave me a list with frosting and cake flavor and filling choices, she said i would need so many tiers and then said ok now you pick a style. And she said here are the books to choose from and look through if you have any questions I'll be back later and she left and left me with like 20 binders on a shelf. I was pretty pissed! After 5 minutes I felt hopeless and like I was going to lose it so I went to the counter and asked someone to go get her. She appeared and I said here is what I am looking for and so she came back out looking annoyed and said these two are something like what you described and I had her sit there and finish out all the paperwork with me. Their baking is exceptional, however their people skills are lacking. If you can handle the booking girl the cake is worth it, but if not, choose somewhere else.

My cake was a HOT MESS!!! The colors were totally wrong even though I left them swatches of the colors. Also, they decorated it with ribbon not frosting or fondant as the contract stated. The cake itself was good... but be sure you are willing to possibly have a disaster for the cake if you use them.

While I enjoyed working with Oak Mill (Skokie store), I decided to have wedding cupcakes instead of cake and there was supposed to be custard inside the cupcakes, which my groom and I were very excited about. However, the cupcakes contained no custard, which was a disappointment.

I would not recommend this bakery for your wedding cake. This was the vendor offered through our venue and I had to order a second cake.

What a joke. I was planning my wedding in Chicago from my home in Washington state. I had called and made a cake tasting appointment. Without letting me know it, THEY cancelled it. When I went in it wasnt busy but for some reason they didnt have the time to take care of me. I made it clear I had 3 days in town and I wouldnt be back until a few days before my wedding. But I dont speak Polish so they sent me away to the Oak Mill bakery in the city. I really truly didnt have time for that, but I had to. That Oak Mill bakery, however, was extremely accomadating and I would give them a 5 star rating. Nothing would bring me back to the bakery in Des Plaines.

While my cake from Oak Mill Bakery (North Ave. location) looked and tasted fine, I absolutely cannot recommend working with them. They were rude, agressive, inappropriate, unapologetic and unprofessional. They informed me, five days before the wedding, that my cake would actually cost $500 more than they had quoted me five months earlier due to "special charges". When I asked how this could happen and I was told by the owner that it was just five days before the wedding and there was basically nothing I could do about it. Had I had more than five days I would have definitely chosen another bakery. This was an average cake that was not at all worth the headache and the horrible treatment I received from the owner. Do not use this vendor.

My experience with Oak Mill was less than ideal. First of all, when I went for my tasting appt, they didn't have any samples for us to actually taste! They said they were out of cake, I was annoyed since we had scheduled an appt well ahead of time. Then the manager or whomever it was that I dealt with after having to go back a 2nd time was incredibly rude. When I asked her if she thought the cake would turn out pretty, she said "It will be...interesting," I guess if you aren't looking to do one of their tacky and dated "castle cakes" they don't think the cake will look nice! At least when I went, their selection of more "modern" cakes was severely lacking which was fine b/c I had drawn up a simple sketch of what we wanted. Nothing fancy, the most complicated thing was probably a little swirly design that was only to appear on 1 of the layers. We had told them we wanted this design be done in fondant - well SURPRISE, on our wedding day we saw the cake and the design was applied (very sloppily I might add) with one of those frosting tubes. On top of that, we had asked them to put our last initial on the cake in script. What did they do? Well the letter was on there, but not in script, looked more like a 5 year old had drawn the letter on. At least they are cheaper than other places!

I understand they are highly recommended, however I had a HORRIBLE experience with them....
First... They were always to busy and made me call back (I live in Hawaii and sometimes I couldn't call back because of the time difference)
Second, during our cake tasting, we had dried out cake....
Third... They hung up on me when I was inquiring about a ribbon they wanted me to send, I guess they were to busy again to tell me Bashia wasn't in
Forth... Bashia was NEVER there and I never got a call back inquiring about the ribbon
Fifth... They gave me a hard time lowering the number of tiers from 5 to 4 and then when I said leave it at 5 they wanted payment even though nothing was owed on MY contract for 5 tiers but yet I still only got 4 when all was said and done...
Sixth... They had the audacity to call me the day before my wedding when I have been trying to call ALL week to get answers and for them to tell me I owe them (indeed I didn't) for 5 tiers and I might not have a cake for the reception if they don't get it by 6 pm. Honestly I was OK with going to Dominicks and getting 115 cupcakes for my guests
Seven... They called on wedding day, left a voicemail stating I did not call them back by 9am (I was a bit busy with rehearsal the night before) and they need payment in order for delivery

So in the end... I DO NOT RECOMMEND OAK MILL!
