Reviews for Of The Earth

We ordered handmade flower seed paper invitations. These area the type that you can plant and flowers should grow. I don't know of anyone who actually tried it. The invitations took a long time to make since you had to tear it and fold it yourself, but I didn't mind. They weren't cheap either. We ended up printing out the invitation part ourselves onto clear paper and attaching it to the invitation with a ribbon. They were very pretty.

I ordered Of the Earth's Lotka seeded paper, paper ribbon, and recycled cardstock and was very impressed with the quality of the products. I ended up making all of our wedding invitations, table numbers, and place cards myself following their examples and I got tons of positive feedback from guests. Everyone loved that the invitations could be planted and especially that flowers have sprouted already from them. I received my order very promptly and always received helpful information over the phone whenever I called. I would recommend Of the Earth to anyone looking for natural, unique and high quality paper products.

I wanted an eco-friendly, inexpensive, funtional wedding favor that hasn't already been at a million other weddings. My idea was to print the bulletins (which normally get thrown out) on plantable paper. The best website I found for ordering this was with Of The Earth. They were the ONLY ones that had sheets of paper that you could print at home that ALSO had plantable seeds in it. Most seed paper can't go through your printer; others also only offered to print off invitations & not bulletins.
Just an FYI the paper works best if only printed on one side. I don't remember if it said that on the website, but it was included in the shipment information. Guests loved the idea and how well it fit our outdoor wedding. One of my friends planted his indoors right after our fall wedding and commented on how many blooms he has on his table!

The detailed service sets Of The Earth above other manufacturers. I called knowing I was trying to save money and they discussed all of my options candidly. They advised which reply cards I should include and ran the numbers of different sizes and syles of invitations in order to save me money. As I was interested in making the invitations myself to cut costs they helped me decide how much of each paper and ribbon I would need in order to make enough invitations. My order was delivered within the week.

Kevin and his accomodating staff made special paper to my specifications for my invitations, thank you notes and programs. People who were not even invited to the wedding but saw or heard about the invitations are still talking about them. Of the Earth / Custom paper also provided me with the wrapping paper and favors. I was so pleased with the service and products that I have decided to use Custom Paper for my business, at Morethanskindeep.info

Our invitations were absolutely amazing, everything i wanted and more. This was the only company I could find who did flower seed invites that turned out looking like antique parchment. There was not a single thing I would have changed.

We used them on a strictly mail-order basis and they were awesome. Living in Canada and having a wedding in California, we wanted to make our invitations but had a hard time finding resources for the materials. Enter Of The Earth! Their staff did everything we needed and more. They mailed us samples, recommended materials, guided the process of making our invitations by hand and were helpful in every aspect! The only reason I downgrade the professionalism is that their website is huge, redundant, and needs an major overhaul. There's tons of wonderful stuff there, but finding it is hard! Otherwise, we could not have asked for better materials or service.

We used this site for our invitations and placeholders - the paper was stunning. So unique, I would use them again in a heartbeat.

I got the ribbons I used in the invitations, favors, programs, and thank you cards from them. I chose them because their hanah silk ribbons are hand dyed, and the variety of colors available was really amazing. No standard paper choice colors here (although their ribbons are sold at paper source, but at a higher cost, or course). The ribbon had a such nice drape and didn't bulk up the envelopes at all.

The invitation and other paper products we purchased from Of The Earth were wonderful. Their website can be a little hard to navigate, but once I got the hang of it, I found everything I was looking for. We got our invitations, ceremony booklets, wishing tree cards, thank you notes and favor boxes from them and loved all of it.

I really felt like Of the Earth worked with us to get our wedding invitations just right. I also used Of the Earth for our save the date cards. The invites arrived on time and everything was very carefully packed!! We think they are wonderful! We have gotten so much positive feedback on our seeded paper option. Everything was lovely. I really was totally impressed and beyond satisfied with the entire process for getting samples, then placing and arranging our order. Anytime I had a question responses were always super prompt and the suggestions were incredibly helpful in this process. I would absolutely recommend this vendor.
Thanks again for contributing to our special day!

I bought this paper last year for my wedding cards. However, before I decided to make a bulk order, I ordered a few to test if the plants really grew from this paper... After testing it 5 times (with the 8.5x11 sheets)... I only had 1 little stem grow on 1 of the sheets but then it died... So sad because I had great expectations.
When I contacted the company regarding the problem, it's like they shrugged at me and didn't want to believe me. If it was a bad batch, how is it my problem? Something is obviously wrong with their quality control. It really disappoints me that they don't offer some sort of guarantee for it. Because I wasted my money on something that didn't grow.
Now they will hate me for giving my honest review. I am not here to say people not to buy it. Buy it, but if it doesn't grow... don't be surprised.
There are other companies that offer seeded paper for a better price IMHO.

Although their paper is absolutely beautiful and cannot compare to any other handmade paper, their customer service is awful. They didn't tell me they were out of a specific ribbon I had ordered until about a week and a half after I placed the order. When they offered an alternative ribbon, they wanted to charge me for it. I did not agree with this since it was their mistake, and when I brought it to their attention, the owner was pretty rude on the phone. I went ahead and found my own ribbon, which was better than what they offered and more reasonably priced.
Also, I would recommend constructing the invitations yourself rather than paying them to do it, which is pretty pricey. It is considerably cheaper, and easy to do - we saved almost 400.00 by tearing the paper, punching the holes, and constructing the invites ourselves. My husband and I got them done in just a couple of days, by completing a few steps each night, and it was a fun bonding experience for us. It also made him feel apart of the whole wedding process. But, I did have a tile table with straight grout lines to use as a reference when folding and tearing the paper. Make sure you have something similar. Just using the bonefolder is difficult for straight lines, because it is so small.
In response to the reply below:
I, in no way, requested the ribbon to be free. I did not think it was appropriate for you to expect me to pay the difference. And, I do not appreciate your inaccurate and offensive comments. Thank you for exactly proving my point about your customer service and customer care. I tried to be very polite in my comments. I am in no way a hateful person, and I think that comment shows your lack of professionalism. If you look at my other wedding reviews, they are full of praise towards my vendors. If this is how you handle customer reviews and criticism, I feel very sorry for you.
Vendor response to review
I find it hard to believe how some people look at life. This customer baffles me. We make “absolutely beautiful” paper (her words), we offer the tools and experience and guidance to help our customers save “almost $400” (again her words) with our do it your self options and then when this customer approves her order (a week after placing it) her Midori ribbon selection was found to be on backorder. We do not stock every width and every color of every line that we offer. We are a custom design house and there are occasional stock issues outside of our control that we work through.
This customer received an immediate credit for the ribbon. She was disappointed when the spool she requested was not available but became upset when she was told that she would have to actually pay to have a substitute spool sent. She felt that we should simply give it to her as it was her second choice.
I was not at any time rude to her. She must have felt that our not buying her a spool of ribbon was somehow an affront to her personally. She was surprised that I was not willing to send free ribbon. She went as far as to say it was a bad business decision. I suppose I should have heard the threat but that is not how I look at life.
We have been in business for sixteen years and love how the internet allows us to reach the wider world. Sometimes though, people have too much hate. Really? A 1.4 stars rating? So we should have sent a $32 spool of ribbon for free? This was a February order for an April wedding and now six weeks after her wedding she posts this review. Uggh. Perhaps our other reviews will help you, gentle reader, to see the truth in this matter.
