Reviews for Events Ondine

If your are looking for a reception site that offers both wonderful views and amazing food, look no futher than Ondine in Sausalito. The restaurtant used to be open to the public long ago and likes of many celebrities used to dine there like, Audrey Hepburn, Clint Eastwood, Robert Redford, Marilyn Monroe just to name a few.
My husband and I fell in love with the place when we were looking for a reception and knew this would be the perfect place to celebrate our wedding with our family and friends.
I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking the perfect place to plan a memorable party.

Just awesome.
We had our wedding reception here a week ago, and we have absolutely no complaints.
The location and views can't be beat, even on a kinda foggy day! When we first saw the restaurant, we thought that we would never be able to afford it, but the price turned out to be very reasonable!
We did not have a lot of separate vendors to deal with, which was nice. The florist dropped off the centerpieces. We hired a guy to set up a sound system so we could play an ipod. Other than that, Ondine did the rest!
Michael from Ondine was helpful setting up all the details. Definitely professional and easy to work with.
We brought in our own wine and paid a corkage fee to Ondine. It worked out really well for us.
Food was excellent (chicken or salmon), especially considering that we had ~ 100 guests. Wait staff was super friendly and joking around with us (not uptight and stuffy at all).
The valet parking can be pricey, but the parking company is not affiliated with the restaurant. If you dont mind your guests walking a few blocks (5 min walk), then you can get parking passes in a public lot that is owned by the city of sausalito. Seemed to work great for us.
If you are considering this place for a large reception, I would recommend you talk to Michael. He is more than accomodating and great to work with!

My Wife Rhonda and I just had our wedding reception at Ondine in Sausalito and let me tell you, WOW!! From the moment we laid eyes on the beautiful space during our site visit to the close of the wedding reception, everything was amazing. We worked with Michael Beachnau, wedding coordinator; we was responsive, friendly, we were very comfortable working with him. During the process they will do a tasting with you and other brides and grooms. This was a fun interactive way to meet other couples using the space and tasting several items. We shopped around several locations in the Bay Area and would have to say, the pricing is affordable and the food and service was top notch! If you are looking for an amazing space, great food, wonderful service and spot that won't gauge you visit Ondine Sausalito!

Ondine was AMAZING. First off the venue itself is beautiful - its located right on the edge of the pier facing the San Francisco skyline. So the view is breathtaking. Although its a smaller venue (with a maximum of 130) the quality of service is unbeatable. They worked with us to tailor our menu to suit our guests needs, they handled day of coordination with the DJ/MC and everything ran smoothly throughout the night. We didn't even have to worry about what we were going to do next they had it planned and set up. The staff was prompt, attentive and professional - all of our guests had a wonderful time. The only downside is the expensive and limited parking - this is to be expected in Sausalito however. If you really want a truly memorable and one of a kind wedding experience then Ondine Sausalito is the way to go.

We had our reception at Horizon's Ondine and loved it! With the location you have a view on San Francisco all night. The event manager helped us in any way possible. We were able to have our reception from 6pm till 2am, they supplied us with chair covers for no charge and set up our decoration. We were able to have the place as a back-up ceremony point in case it rained but luckily could have the ceremony at a nearby beach (http://www.nps.gov/goga/planyourvisit/weddings.htm).
Everybody was super friendly, professional and best of all they treated me like family!

What a beautiful location! If you want a room with a view, this is the place for you! We ended up having about 100 guests for our wedding and the size of the room was perfect for this amount of people. The bartenders and servers were professional and friendly. They really made the event that much more fabulous.
The reason I gave only three stars for professionalism is because there were a few kinks along the way. Leading up to the wedding we were to receive an event order, which we did, but it was a very rough draft and didn't reflect everything that we spoke about leading up to receiving this qoute. As a bride, this is probably one of the most frustrating aspects of coordinating a wedding. When dealing with multiple vendors, it is essential that everyone pulls their weight. Unfortunately, this added to the work load leaving us to recheck things and make sure to keep essential notes on hand to communicate to the event planner in order to provide a complete and accurate quote prior to the event.
Other than that, the evening went beautifully and we were more than happy with the venue.

I had my reception here in 2007 for 80 people & it was perfect with a dance floor and round tables. It is such a beautiful location, really good food, and stood alone without a lot of fussy decor. The wedding coordinator at the time (who has since left) was excellent and acted as a wedding planner the day of by setting things up that morning according to a drawing I gave her/discussion in person for no extra charge. They also had clean, private bathrooms & brand new chairs in 2007. All for a very reasonable price! They didn't kick us out even though we went a bit over the time & everyone says that venue was fantastic. The only down side is that you don't have your own private outdoor area.

I had my wedding reception at Ondine. When you walk in to the restaurant, you are immediately struck by the view through their wall of windows. All of our guests loved the view of the bay and of San Francisco. The out of town guests appreciated that it gave them an excuse to cross the Golden Gate Bridge. We had about 45 guests so the size was perfect for us because it wasn't too small and didn't seem to big given the small party we had. They offered us a fun tasting night with other people who had booked events there. We were able to try almost everything on their menu. For our entree options, we selected the peppercorn crusted filet mignon and the salmon with lemon-scented couscous. Our guests seemed to really love the food, which was important to us. Several guests said that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. The staff was helpful and friendly. Our guests really enjoyed the bartender, Brian, as well. It was expensive, but worth it. Compared to other restaurants I considered booking, this place offered a much better value and you really can't beat the view.
I had the pleasure of coordinating an event at Ondine earlier this year. The staff was amazingly friendly and professional. The couple decided to hold their ceremony and reception both in the main room, and the transition from ceremony space to reception was smooth and flawless. You can't beat the views from Ondine, the food is fabulous, add the dedicated staff and you create the perfect trifecta for wedding bliss. As the coordinator, I never had to worry, because they were always one step ahead. Thank you Ondine!
About Events Ondine
The historic building which now houses Events Ondine and Horizons, on each of two floors, was built in 1898 by the San Francisco Yacht Club. Through the early 1920s, the building served as a center for gala parties, yacht races and regattas. The year 1959 marked the beginning of a new era for the building: Ondine and Trident opened, and the two internationally acclaimed restaurants soon became popular celebrity destinations. As the Trident Restaurant later revived as Horizons, Ondine also modernized into its beautiful private dining space; with the exterior still maintaining that original yacht club character.
Today, Events Ondine exists on the second floor of the historic building as a sophisticated, premier private dining venue on Sausalito’s waterfront. With its modern elegant interiors, the space still boasts unsurpassed, panoramic views of the San Francisco bay and city skyline. The cuisine focuses on creative preparation of seasonal ingredients and an extensive wine list featuring premium and rare California wines.
