One Heart Personalized Ceremonies

Mark Giller was the officiant for my wedding yesterday. He came to us through a recommendation when our minister left our church. There were times when I wondered whether we should have chosen another Unitarian Universalist minister but ultimately, the ceremony that we ended up having with Mark was great and I have no regrets with choosing him as our officiant. Mark was warm and friendly towards us and seemed to invest time and effort into crafting our ceremony. He incorporated everything we asked for and was very supportive of what we wanted to do.

I was a bundle of nerves about the ceremony up until this happened: At one point before the ceremony, Mark smiled widely at me and gently said, "I've done this before." to which I laughed a little and replied, "Well, I haven't... this is my first!" I can't explain it, but there was just something about that interaction that helped put me at ease because if he was confident with what we had planned then it meant that it would be all right.

Afterwards, we received many nice comments about our ceremony. I passed his contact info along to a friend who is currently shopping for a wedding officiant for an interfaith wedding.

We are pleased to say that Norma Moutal of One Heart Personalized Ceremonies was the officiant for our March 8th wedding. As an interfaith couple, we were unsure how to go about planning a ceremony on our own, but fortunately, we had Norma to guide us. From our very first meeting, Norma took the time to get to know us and our "story" as a couple, offered us ideas and guidance in the ceremony planning, and was responsive to any questions and concerns we may have had along the way. As the wedding date came nearer, we were very excited but also a little nervous about how our ceremony would be received by our families and guests...but with Norma's knowledge, care, and experience, we were able to balance and represent both of our traditions, make our ceremony about US, and also touch the hearts of those surrounding us. Norma was the Officiant at my son's wedding & she helped make the ceremony a new vibrant meaningful experience. This was a Catholic / Jewish blend & Norma encouraged both parties to embrace their cultures and wove them into a unique ceremony that left everybody feeling included.

My husband and I were married in November 2012 and we have to say that our Officiate, Mark Giller, was the highlight of our ceremony.

We met with Mark prior to our ceremony and from the moment we met him, Mark was warm and inviting. We could tell Mark was not going to fill our names in the blank from a copy and paste transcript. He got to know us. In our first meeting, Mark wanted to know everything about us. How we met, how did we know that he/she was the one, what’s one thing you admire the most about your fiancé, etc. Actually we didn’t talk business until the very end of our meeting.

Mark went over with us exactly what he was going to say. He helped us with last minute changes and suggestions. For example, he suggested we add a flower vase ritual where we had our in-laws, best man, and maid-of-honor, place a flower in the vase to represent the union of our families and friends.

Mark put into our ceremony my husband’s love of comics and my love of Shakespeare. Mark even read Shakespeare’s Sonnet 116 for our ceremony. Everyone was telling us how much they loved the ceremony and how great Mark was.

Not only did Mark help personalized the ceremony he also helped us spiritually and logistically. He arrived early well before the ceremony and spoke to us separately in our dressing rooms to review the ceremony one last time and just to see how we were doing. Weeks before the wedding, Mark called the venue and set up with them what he needed for the ceremony. It became one less thing for us to worry about.

Overall, Mark made our ceremony “our” ceremony. It was romantic, at times funny, and personal. Everyone said how much they loved Mark and that the ceremony was “us” from beginning to end. We highly recommend One Heart Personalized Ceremonies and Mark Giller, and we wish we could give him more than five stars.

My husband did quite a bit of research before we decided to hire Mark. The research paid off! Mark clearly invested significant time preparing our ceremony and was able to tweak several times based on our needs. He was also very flexible working with us over the phone and online since we were planning the wedding from half way across the country. He brought significant experience to his role; we were in good hands. From our guests' perspective, several mentioned how personal the ceremony seemed. Overall I would happily recommend Mark!

Norma took the job on short notice and put together a very personalized and special ceremony. She couldn't have been more communicative throughout the whole process, and she made us feel confident that everything would turn out great (which is very valuable when you're having to worry about everything else!). We were pleased beyond description.

We received many comments on how lovely and personal the ceremony was. This was due to Mark's carefully chosen words and readings (we let him give us suggestions for readings, which you do not have to do). Over a couple of sessions he crafted a ceremony that captured what we wanted to convey to our guests. He sent reminders of some important information for us throughout the planning and displayed a high degree of professionalism on the wedding day itself.

Mark at One Heart ceremonies really made our wedding special. We absolutely loved our personalized ceremony. Our guests also commented on how personalized and special our ceremony was. Norma did an unbelievable job as our officiant. She has an uncanny ability to truly capture the essence of the couple and sincerely deliver a unique and heartfelt ceremony. We connected immediately with Norma at our first meeting and felt confident that she was the right choice for us - and we couldn't have been more right! I can't say enough about Norma. When we first met her, we knew we wanted her to perform our ceremony. She has a genuine kindness and warmth about her. She was sincere and thoughtful. At our second meeting when she went read through our ceremony I was in tears. She captured who we were and wrote an incredibly touching ceremony. Fast foward to our wedding day on October 29, 2011. Yes that was the most unexpected winter storm to hit our area. The snow caused tremendous havoc on the roads. We were fearful that our wedding might get cancelled because we didn't know how anyone would get there. Miraculously Norma arrived ! It was not an easy trip at all; in fact it was quite dangerous. The fact that she attempted to get there, and successfully did so, proves how much she cared. To say that I appreciate her dedication and professionalism is an understatement. And while the power was out at my venue, she performed the most touching ceremony by candlelight;even without a mic. I know it was my wedding, but I think I might have had the most romantic and touching ceremonies of all time. Thank you Norma for making our day so special and putting in so much extra effort.

My husband as I were married by Norma on Aug. 5th 2010. It was important to us that we have an officiant that really understood exactly what the day meant to us and who we were as people. Norma was just that. She really took the time to get to know both of us individually and was able to create the perfect ceremony for our day.
