Reviews for Ooh! Events

We have been visiting this lovely store for years to purchase jewelry, gifts, and flowers. The owner and staff members have always welcomed us and made us feel like we entered a magical shop. The smells, sights, and laughter in the store have made return visits to Out of Hand a must when we visit South Carolina.
Our daughter, Kacey, recently got engaged and we knew that we wanted Lisa, Jerri, and the rest of her fabulous staff to help us plan Kacey and Kyle's special day in Charleston. We have been very impressed with their quick responses to our inquiries about caterers, photographers, venues, and flowers. They have made Kacey feel so special as they help her plan the day of her dreams. We highly recommend stopping by Out of Hand in Mt. Pleasant to meet Lisa and staff. You are in for a treat!

Ooh Events offers wonderfully personalized, individual attention. Meredith Nicholson recently designed our save the dates pieces, and they were even more perfect for our theme and taste than I could have hoped. She listened to us describe our vision for our wedding weekend, and created a piece that will set the perfect tone for our Lowcountry weekend together. Meredith was organized, timely, and accommodating in her communication and proof schedule.

As mother of the bride I very involved in the wedding. My daughter and I interviewed 4 florists. We made up our minds about 3 mins into the interview. They knew exactly what we wanted and made it all very easy and STRESS FREE. Terri Tezza was our contact person and event planner. She not only met our expectations but far far exceded them. We could not have done it without her help. The floral arrangements were beautiful, unique. They also did lighting for us and it was , and I hate to use this word because its so overused but Terri and OOevents were truely amazing. we are hard to please people and they more than pleased us.

The flowers and décor services OOH provided for our daughter’s December 3rd wedding were outstanding. Beth and Isabel created beautiful bouquets with a variety of flowers and greenery that reflected the range of colors my daughter wanted. The bridal bouquet was so stunning I took several pictures of it the day after the wedding! Everyone commented on the gorgeous arrangements for the reception especially the use of sliced lemons and oranges in the vases. Our initial contract was just for floral services but closer to the wedding day we realized we needed assistance setting up several décor items my daughter had for the reception venue, as well as to rent some last minute items like a cake stand and mirrors. The staff always responded quickly to our questions and ideas for decor. Isabel set up the decorations just as we wanted and after the reception she re-packed everything neatly and quickly for us to pick up. If you use Out of Hand for florals and décor for your wedding (or any event), you can relax and be 100% assured you will have lush, beautiful arrangements and top quality service.

What a fantastic experience working with Kathryn Aydlett. She went above and beyond to help with our son's wedding and reception. She was very professional, but personal in her approach and never seemed to get upset when things did not go as planned. She was there most of the day and long after the wedding was over and made the night so much easier!
I would highly recommend Ooh! Events and especially Kathryn for your next event!

As a business owner of a company for more than 25 years, planning your wedding is another expertise in and of itself. Leave it to the experts, which Ooh Events are the best! Terri was perfect, flawless in the precision of the wedding, nothing was missed and it was outstanding in every way-our dream wedding, and not the first, but felt like the first time.

If only we could add LOVEABILITY to the categories for which OOH!Events deserves a five-star rating! From the moment my mom and I first sat down with each Lisa, Terri & Jerri, we not only discovered that our chemistry was immediate, we also discovered the crew with whom we were sharing our (often times, overwhelming) journey of planning delivered the perfect dose of PASSION for every detail we were inspired to include! As a bride, I trusted the OOH team more than any other vendor we hired for our special day. Each session of planning spawned constructive suggestions, always mindful of my perspective, which gave me confidence that our entire wedding weekend would be undoubtedly unique to our style. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to plan a wedding with this group. They helped us create a truly outstanding event! ~ Rebekah Johnson Dollar

My husband and I planned a unique event in leu of a private reception following our ceremony. We produced an art event featuring over 30 artists in which donations and artwork sales benefitted the American Heart Association. Our event coordinator, Kathryn Aydlett was beyond resourceful and creative to help make our event a success. She was extremely responsive to questions we had and even helped with the installation of the art exhibit until the wee hours of the morning. That's commitment and going above and beyond! We highly recommend her and Ooh! Events for any event no matter how out of the box it may be!

We were very fortunate to have Ooh! Events coordinate our daughter's recent wedding, after she received a recommendation. Kathryn Aydlett was the wedding coordinator, and did a more than excellent job. Leading up to the wedding, this included weekly status conference calls with our daughter and participation at the food tasting and selection. Kathryn arrived a day prior to the wedding, led the rehearsal, and insured that all the setup was handled appropriately (including having touch-up paint applied to benches she had delivered!) Her activities on the wedding day started in the early morning and lasted until the event was over late that evening and all the vendors had cleaned up and left. Before and during the wedding, she was calm, sweet and cheerful, but effective in assuring everyone knew what and when program activities would occur and were ready to go, and firm in taking care of some potential problems quickly and efficiently. As a result, the entire event ran very smoothly. We never had to worry about anything during the weekend, which helped us relax and celebrate.
From my daughter: Working with Kathryn was like working along side my best friend. She is extremely thoughtful, organized and on top of everything - from the planning to the actual wedding, it was extreme pleasure to work with her. With her expertise, our wedding ran smoothly and no one had to worry about a thing. I would highly recommend Kathryn and all the staff at Ooh! Events for any event.

Out of Hand Florist was Fantastic! The Flowers were exceptional! I dealt with Caroline for my wedding and she was very helpful and timely with her correspondence. During the hecticness of wedding day, I completely forgot about the floral being delivered and when the flowers arrived, they were stunning. Everyone commented on them! All the arrangements at the wedding were remarkable. I would recommend them highly for any event!

Ooh Events and Out of Hand were absolutely wonderful! My daughter's wedding was beautiful! Working with Beth, our florist, was fantastic. The flowers were exactly what my daughter wanted! The reception venue was perfect as well. The furniture rentals outside just made everything perfect. Kathryn, our wedding coordinator, was the BEST!! She was on top of everything the day of the wedding. The entire day went accordig to plan. We could relax and enjoy the festivites knowing Kathryn was there. I would highly recommend Ooh Events/Out of Hand. You will be very happy!!!!

If you are planning a wedding, run don't walk to Ooh Events. I cannot say enough about how professional and creative this team was from start to finish. I was trying to plan my wedding long-distance and once Ooh Events came onboard it made the whole process seamless. From the planning to implementation these women treated us as part of their family and it showed in the finished product. Ooh Events gave me the wedding of my dreams!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing a wedding that Kathryn Aydlett and her team at ooh! events coordinated and was extraordinarily moved by her care. Wedding coordinators may hope-work to be thorough and efficient leaders, creative and idea-oriented visionaries, knowledgeable go-to mediators, quick and smart solvers, as well as attentive and organized behind-the-scenes movers of celebrations. Kathryn is all of that, greatly and positively. What was striking about her, and what compels me to write this note, was her calming care, her tender voice of assurance, and her movement around the day to make certain all involved felt peaceful and elated to be a part of the vision: from the bride's peace to the caterer's smiles, I could sense the fruit of her hard work, her appreciation, and her attention. She is the perfect combination of strength and grace, sweet smiles and nurturing mindfulness, which makes her exceptional to lead on a gigantic day with an entire production of inspirational beauty to unfold for a wonderfully happy bride and groom and their Loved Ones. I give Kathryn and her team at ooh! events my highest recommendation and will favor them to future brides. May God bless you, Katherine, and all those at ooh! events!

I was very pleased with my first experience using Ooh Events. The event planner was professional, creative and fun to work with. I have received a ton of compliments on our event. They added so many unique touches that I would have never thought of. I can't say enough about the flowers. One of a kind! thanks!

My husband and I were married on Easter weekend (April 23rd) in Mt. Pleasant, SC and we could not be happier with Ooh! Events. We live in Nashville and planned a destination wedding to South Carolina from 8 hours away. We found Ooh! Events randomly while driving around the area and after seeing their store and portfolio books, we hired them immediately. Caroline was always extremely easy to get in touch with, always emailing right back to me, their rentals and decor are absolutely stunning, and using them to coordinate the day-of was the best decision I made the entire wedding process. Kathryn thought of the things that I never would have dreamed of, coordinated everyone down to the minute, never hesitated when there was something that didnt go to plan, and took all of the pressure away from me day of. She was truly my lifesaver. We rented out the Margarita and Flamingo beach houes in the Isle of Palms for our wedding party for the weekend (they are 4 houses apart) and Ooh Events worked with us to deliver the flowers, coordinate with the photographer, etc. I would absolutely use Ooh! Events again and would highly recommend them to any brides who need help planning a Charleston wedding. They are simply the best!

If you are doing a destination wedding in Charleston, Ooh Events is a must! We are in Seattle, the bride and groom were in NC ,so don't know what we would've done without Ooh and the hard work of Isabel and Amanda Halsey Lewis of Southern Chic weddings. They scouted out the venue for us, planned the best setup and flow for guests. They came the day of the wedding and set up in a professional manner. Helped repair a Sweet Potato Wedding cake that was brought from NC (with flowers). The flowers were stunning! Coral/Pink peonies, parrot tuliips, hypernium(?) berries. Only wish we would've planned to have the brides bouquet preserved or dried, that's how beautiful it was. Love, love, love my MOB wrist corsage was on a vintage bracelet and I cherish it and know the mother of the groom does as well. The wedding was in a private home and their breakdown was as unobtrusive and professional as their setup. I highly recommed Ooh to any brides looking to do a destination wedding.

This wedding was held on March 5, 2011 in Awendaw and we parents lived in Newberry and Columbia, so having a wedding planner was a life-saver. From the very beginning, Ooh was right there with us. We had 3 meetings and numerous emails and phone calls, but everything went beautifully. They did not supply the flowers, but the decor was outstanding. All decisions were supported by Terri Tezza and Lisa Thomas and every detail was carried out. The rental equipment was set up and decorated beforehand and there were no hitches. Terri was the first to arrive at the pavilion and two of their associates were the last to leave. They were a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend Ooh Events for any kind of festivity.

A HUGE thank you to Lisa Thomas and everyone at Out of Hand that helped with the flowers for our Edisto wedding. They were beautiful! They really did a great job and were thorough on very short notice. (I ended up switching florists about a month or two prior to wedding; Lisa had a spreadsheet with descriptions and prices to me within 24 hrs. of contacting her!) The centerpieces matched our grey and pink linens wonderfully as did the ceremony bouquets and flower petals with the fucshia chair ties.
Thanks again. Your team is awesome!

Our wedding weekend couldn't have reached the plateau of excellence, intimacy and tranquility if it were not for talent and direction that the ladies and gentlemen at ooh! events delivered. When my fiance and I were searching for a unique venue in Charleston, SC to host our special day we were at a loss of direction. Trying to plan a wedding from a different state seemed impossible until I was referred to ooh! events. We called, set an appointment and the rest of the planning, creativity, design, tedious work, food, wine and favors were orchestrated by a fabulous team. Lisa and her team have relationships with venue sites so securing the most perfect location was so easy. We both scratched out head and wondered WHY we ever attemped to plan this ourselves with no knowledge of the area and all the amazing locations that were available...Our wedding was beautifully designed with a modern flair. We loved all the couches, benches, lights, handcrafted bars that created an evening of ellegance that was beyond my expectations. Our wedding at the coast of SC was something that we will always remember and if it had not been for this eclectic group of individuals that create their magic in a quaint little shop in the Old Village of Mt. Pleasant, SC we wouldnt have had such perfect and flawless weekend. Thank you Lisa, Pete, Jerri, Terri, Alison, Naomi, Beth, Carmen and Heather for the gift of taking us under your wing and making our day amazing on our budget!!! Yeah for ooh!!!

Kathryn Aydlett did a spectacular job on my daughter's wedding. Her attention to detail, support and hard work let us know that we were working with a real professional! Even with the weather uncertainties, and last minute changes to the set up, Kathryn was calm and organized. She took the initiative to make decisions which worked perfectly and flawlessly from my perspective. The flowers were absolutely beautiful and I definately recommend
Kathryn and Ooh!Events for your wedding needs.

Out of Hand was able to realize my dream for my wedding day. Beth understood exactly what I wanted and made it a reality. She and Isabel were responsive and upbeat in all of our communications. When the flowers arrived on my wedding day I was blown away by how beautiful they were. Everything that Ooh provided was a dream!

Lisa and her team were wonderful to work with. I knew as soon as I got engaged that I wanted Ooh Events to coordinate my wedding. Their floral creative is amazing and unique. They have endless ideas on how to make the event stand out from all of the rest. My entire family was very pleased with the results!

We had lanterns hung in a tree, it looked so great. We also had our bouquets put together by OOh Events, they used the best flowers. They looked great.

I worked with Terri Tezza and she was wonderful! She never pressured me to do more decorations/rentals than I really felt I wanted or was in my budget. She was super flexible with changing the proposal several times until it was just how I wanted it, and while she made suggestions here and there, I really felt like I was in control in the end. I do feel like their rentals are a bit pricey, but I would say they seem comparable to a lot of other Charleston area rental companies.
GUEST

I could not have been more pleased with Ooh! events. They listened to what I wanted for decorations and flowers and exceded it. They worked with my family's ideas to make sure we were getting what we wanted. The different chandeliers in the tent were a great touch and I received many compliments on them. The flowers were beautiful and there is nothing I would have changed.

This was WELL worth the money. I felt so calm leading up to and the day of my wedding and it was a direct result of hiring OOh Events. Everything was perfect. Even when my brother (who was to give me away) did not have pants in his Tux they went to work calmly and right away to try to secure me what I needed even though we rented the tux in Atlanta. The flowers were beautiful and reasonably priced. They even transported us around that day taking us from the hair salon to the church. I didn't have to worry about a thing. I highly recommend them. They pulled off a first class wedding and all of my guests were impressed with how smoothly everything went from the rehearsal to the send off. Also, my bridal party (i.e. sister and BFF) didn't have to go crazy with all of the details. They were able to just be a "part of" and enjoy the day just as much as everyone else. Thanks Ooh!!!

Ohhh! Events took a great deal of the stress off my back the week before the wedding. Kathryn and Lisa helped execute my vision and create a beautiful wedding! I was very happy with all of the rentals. I can't wait to see photos!

The flowers were absolutely stunning and I couldn't have asked for better arrangements and bouquets. The rentals were great as well, but a little on the expensive side. Flowers were a good value! They were great to work with and took my vision and made it into a reality!

On April 11 I officiated a wedding at Boone Hall Plantation. The event planner was Kathryn from Ooh events. I have participated in many weddingss over the past few years and have not observed the attention to detail that this lovely young lady was able to provide. The details were meticulous. She choreographed every step of this event with professionalism and seriousness. Kathryn surely has a way to channel away the stress of planing an important event from an excited and happy couple. Thank you for the breadth of fresh air. Best of wishes to you. Ron Zapinski

Ohhhhhh Lisa from OOH, what else can I say but she is a GENIUS!! I had a 5 minute conversation with her on the type of wedding I wanted and not a clue how to execute and she sent me back floral and event design that was beyond compare. I was so excited to work with her from day 1 and the wedding was beyond beautiful. They say folks don't remember the details...bull, I got so many compliments and pictures of the details because they were that lovely. Can not reccomend the team enough.
Jerri also did day of wedding coordination and she was SO fantastic. How she kept everything rolling without even noticing her there I have no idea but she was AMAZING.
LOVE LOVE LOVE OOH all around!

Lisa and Jerri at Ooh Events exceeded our wildest expectations! Our wedding was absolutely beautiful and 8 months later people are still telling us that it was the "best wedding ever" and how much fun they had. They took our ideas and turned them into reality. Their decor and flowers were top of the line and they took the stress out planning a destination wedding. We would highly recommend them for all of your wedding needs!

The flowers turned out beautiful. The only complaint I have is that I felt they did not do the flowers like I explained. I asked for no greenery, just a ball of lillies and it ended up with very prominant greens that stuck out.
Although they were not as I asked for, they were finished on time, and more affordable than most florists I looked at.
GUEST

I would have to say that overall, they were helpful, however, they did not follow my requests like they should have. I had to go see the three different employees before I was able to get a solid employee to work with me. The staff didn't share notes with one another causing confusion, they need better organizational skills. It was MY wedding therefore, I should have had EXACTLY what I wanted, not what they had available or what they may have thought was best/better.
The flowers I got didn't look the way I requested and to top it off, they looked as though they were dying. Nor the chairs that I requested. At the 'Sweethearts Table' I was supposed to have a tall cylinder vase, but instead they put the same vase that was on other tables. I was supposed to receive flowers to go with my cake topper, however, it was not delivered which put a little damper on my day.
After all the headaches, I stayed with this company for two important reasons that knocked the other "issues" that came up out the water... They're pricing and my sudden date changes! The wedding went from 6 months out to 4 months out, due to my husband being a Military man. The way they worked with me was very nice and helpful! They really have the best deal in Charleston, in my opinion. I checked out other places, but price-wise, I found this to be my best bet! Again, overall, I was fine with the outcome, but I do wish that some of my requests hadn't been stomped on.

I was generally happy with the florist, but the color of the hydrangea were definitely not what I picked out and there were quite a few things left undone or not done at all at the reception, that were initially laid out. As far as cost goes, they definitely worked very well within our budget and found creative and innovative ways to save money but still make it look beautiful. The bouquets were very pretty, but again hydrangea weren't the right color. The biggest issue I had was that the florist said they were going to take care of the cake and it looked like someone just poked the flowers into the cake, very haphazardly. That was the biggest issue. The second was that the one table that was supposed to the look the best, the bride & groom's had like NO flowers on it and was very bare. They were supposed to provide candles and such and that wasn't done. They are very great people to work with, I would definitely recommend just getting the flowers from them and having a wedding planner design and layout the tables because they were limited in what they did.

Christine, we thank you so much for the opportunity and the feedback. Regarding the color, while we try very hard, its really difficult to match a PMS color to flowers. Especially the color blue, as there are very few blue flowers and many border on a periwinkle color. I do try to be very upfront about hues and do note in every proposal. Regarding the cake flowers, they were ordered as accents on the levels and yes they are slightly into the icing and I am sorry you thought the accents look unfinished. Lastly, in our proposal there was nothing slated for the sweetheart table, as it was noted as a place to put your bouquet during the dinner and I am sorry the notation slipping by and did not meet your expectations. I do agree that coordination services are invaluable when a budget permits, but I don't push any services upon brides. I fondly remember the time with your family, as fond your father was so proud of you and I truly hope it was fond memories for you and your entire family.
GUEST

Your level of service is directly related to your budget!
They assigned us a college kid (probably because we were a low budget client). Just because you meet with Lisa (and she's great!) doesn't mean she'll have a THING to do with your event. Caroline has poor communication skills and vision. Steer away from her! Literally no ability to recall conversations and ensure your intent is realized. When we got to our reception, we were VERY disappointed.
We had a whole area of our reception with a bar that was shut down because it was too dark (outside venue), when we asked specifically if we needed to add any lighting in that area. When we addressed the issue we were told it was our fault because we didn't specifically say we wanted to use the area all night, even though we asked about the lighting after sunset.
They also used "high winds" as an excuse to change lighting configurations without notifying us or giving us an option to approve their modifications to our reception. It was as if it was their reception and we were guests. We got what we got and they had an excuse for everything they didn't provide.
Don't get me wrong they are very nice people.
Just be 100% clear and exact with what you expect and maybe even tape record the information and bring a lawyer, because after challenged, they told me that they were being nice by not charging me for an initial consultation and final approval meeting, 2 phone calls, and 4 emails.
Best of Luck!

1. Cocktail Hour: Bulb lighting was not on the proposal for cocktail hour. We weren't aware cocktail hour was going to be utilized all evening but when we were at the cocktail hour for the flip, there was still light outside. We were under the impression that after the flip and cocktail hour would end and everyone would shift to the main dining area and the cocktail hour bar would close.
2. Bulb lighting: We added more stands of lighting the day of as a kind gesture and we saw it added to the overall design. There are 4 rows of lighting, which each consist of multiple vintage bulb stands; totaling 12 strands. Only $590 was quoted for the lighting and with these added strands, we gave them an additional $1,000 of lighting for free. Due to the hurricane winds from Hurricane Irene, having a peak over the fountain/dance floor area would have called for taller poles, which we believed would not be safe for the guests. As far as the tissue flowers, we were under the impression the bride was providing them. The day of, we asked the coordinator where the tissue flowers were and we were told not to worry about them.
After the final set-up we did a final walk through with the coordinator and he told us everything looked great and according to plan. He also thanked us for the additional lighting. If anything happens during the reception, such as lack of lighting during cocktail hour, it is the coordinator's responsibility to come up with the solution. For this event we were hired to deliver and set up rentals, but we ended up going above and beyond by providing a CAD layout drawing, coordinating the rain plan and talking to the tent vendors a week out and morning of, and adding lighting the day of to accommodate lighting the whole dining area.

OOH Events did not only have several missing items and flowers that were pre-paid, but had an extremely argumentative staff setting up on the day of my wedding. After trying to go through the missing items via email after the wedding, I was offered a very defensive email back and blamed for the mishap. After asking a couple other people about their experience, they encountered many of the same issues for their big day.
GUEST

We used OOH after a recommendation from a local friend and had a very good first meeting with them. Lisa Thomas is a visionary, but after that it all went downhill. OHH has great rentals and decor, but their business side of the operation is terrible. They are extremely overpriced and seemed to nickle and dime us on each item on our budget. The budget was another problem- we went through several versions and they could never get our revisions correct and kept adding stuff we never asked for. It was extremely frustrating and seemed like they didn't care or know what they were charging for. The coordination was another big problem. We originally requested Terri, who was supposed to be one of the best and Lisa refused to give her us and instead assigned Kathryn, who while sweet, is very inexperienced. She had no business being in charge of our wedding. She had spelling errors on several of the proposals, kept forgetting details about the arrangements we had discussed several times and overall, seemed to not know what she was doing. She really put us over the edge when she called my Mom the week before the wedding and told us she "forgot" she had a wedding on the day of my rehearsal and couldn't be there. Fortunately, at this time, Terri stepped in and was wonderful and she was there to direct our ceremony at my insistence. The day of the wedding, Kathryn forgot again where I was getting ready even though SHE had created the information sheets and itineraries that had my location all over them. Instead, she calls me while I'm getting ready, wondering where I am so she can bring flowers for my hair. HELLO? Look at your own sheet. During the reception I kept having to check in with her and prod her to move the night along to the next activity. OHH caused my mother great aggravation and tears throughout the planning process. I blame the owner for putting an inexperienced coordinator in charge of my day and I would suggest shopping around before deciding on OHH. Once you had the initial meeting with them and after you sign the contract, that's when they pretty much drop off the customer service. Great rentals, but do not use for coordination unless you have Terri and know you will have to watch your budget and costs with them like a hawk. Unfortunately, I would not use them again or recommend them.

Michelle of Ooh Events failed to deliver the agreed upon decorating for my wedding reception.
In March of 2009 I met with 2 reception decorators/wedding flowers vendors. Michelle of Ooh Events seemed to understand what I wanted. So once I got home, I called her and tried to hire her. I say "tried" because I spent literally months begging her to send me a proposal for the reception decorations and the flowers. I'd given her a budget of $5,000 and the first proposal I finally illicited from her was more than twice what I'd budgeted and almost nothing like what I had told her I wanted. We went back and forth, with me literally begging her for a proposal with a semblance of what I wanted. My mother even took over providing the flowers and table decorations for the reception because Michelle was so far over budget.
Eventually, we settled on a proposal for the decorations and the wedding flowers, a thousand dollars over budget and with no reception table decorations or flowers. We didn't even sign the contract until 3 weeks before my wedding.
On my wedding day while my mother and sister were setting up the flowers and table decorations, my mother noticed that the reception room decorations were not as contracted for and had the wedding coordinator at the Wild Dunes Resort call Michelle. Michelle told my mother that she had changed the decorations because the original plan did not provide good room flow. She never called me, my mother, or the Wild Dunes Resort where the reception was held to tell us of her arbitrary change of plans. It was almost nothing like I contracted Ooh Events for. Since there were only a few hours until the my actual wedding there was nothing my mother could do at that point. When we got to the church, even the flowers in my bouquet and my husband's boutinerre were wrong. Despite the terrible job Ooh Events did, and much thanks to Samantha Hazard of the Wild Dunes Resort, my wedding and reception were beautiful.
After my wedding I tried repeatedly to contact Michelle for both an explanation and a refund for the decorations and flowers I did not get. After several phone calls and emails she curtly told me that there would be no refund.
My advice to anyone planning a wedding in Charleston is NOT to use Ooh Events. They are rude, dishonest and do their best to humiliate their brides when the brides complain about the service they provide.
I've let the Wild Dunes Resort know about this and they will no longer recommend Ooh Events.

Because of comments like this, Michelle is no longer with our company. It is so unfortunate to place faith in people and they let you down. I do remember that Michelle thought she was helping out by adding additional lighting and removing the trusses from the floorplan and by rigging from the molding we could provide you with a cleaner look. I know that Michelle tried to call but the cell number on file not working and she spoke to both Samantha and you mother regarding the change and she really thought she was providing you with more value. But regardless, following the event there should have been more communication and you should not be left feeling let down in anyway. I do apologize you were disappointed with communications with our former employee and assure you we have taken measures to prevent any future miscommunications by adding team leaders and onsite teams. Giving you multiple contacts and talents assigned to each wedding. Wishing you every happiness and thank you for your feedback.

My wedding was absolutely wonderful! However, that was no thanks to Ooh! Events. We hired them 8 months prior to our date for furniture rental and floral. In the beginning, Ooh!'s planner, Michelle, really understood our vision and was a pleasure to work with! I really loved her! Then, suddenly 2 months before the wedding she stopped responding to emails and phone calls. Naturally I contacted the owner, Lisa Thomas, to get things straightened out. She was immediatley brash and rude, and made me feel that it was my fault that her employee under-quoted us and was totally unorganized as far as our "file" went. The entire time she was acting like they were doing me a HUGE favor for handling our wedding since her employee made these mistakes. Keep in mind, these quotes were made 8 months prior to our wedding. So I was totally shocked to me hearing all of this now. This conversation should have never even occured between an business owner and the bride. She should have been managing her staff better and treating the bride (me) with care and respect. Instead she was defensive and actually suggested, a month before the wedding, that I go with another rental company for our wedding (while I was crying on the phone with her). She never even apologized while I was in such distress. This was said to THE BRIDE less than 2 months before her wedding!!!! I had nowhere to turn so I had to play "their game", be cordial, and just have them do our wedding with the prices they orginally quoted. It was too late for me to find anything else, and believe me I tried.
I won't get into all of the details, but to top everything off, we were left with an invoice which included things that they never delivered. The $250 chandelier I rented was not even lit (which was the centerpiece of the entire reception)!! They charged us for 5 hanging lanterns when we only had 4, and we are still trying to get reimbursed for that. On the contract she charged us $50 per lantern, plus tax, plus damage waiver, and installation. Lisa, for some crazy reason, only wants to refund us an even $40. What?!!
My wedding was the best day of my life... but if anyone could have warned me about this company prior, it would have saved a lot of trouble. This is your special day and anyone you are hiring should make you feel wonderful about it! You should not be treated like you are a disposable bride, since after all, when will they be getting your business again?. It is really awful that any wedding business owner would feel that this behavior is acceptable! I hope this helps!!
p.s. I was glad to read the other comment on how Ooh! did not do the flowers as the bride asked. This was also the case with our wedding. We asked several times for the flowers to be all one color pink. I even sent photos and confirmed with Lisa the day before, but to no avail they were all different shades of pink. They were beautiful, but not what I asked for.
Vendor response to review
I have a full thank you note on file from this bride and when she couldn't extort us to pay for even more of her wedding - she took to slandering our name all over the internet. I will not bore you will all the communications, but I have every email printed in a file for anyone to read and review... its a long file and believe me, I didn't make this girl cry. If you could hear the tone from her and her mother. I offered them a full refund, as I knew no matter what I did it would not be right. They did call everyone in town to take over their wedding, but no one could remotely do what they wanted for the double the price.... On her floral is was a full peony wedding and literally the product cost was more than she paid and when she was in the office two days prior review, canceling and inspecting the flowers, we had to ship in more cases as it was not the right shade of pink and of course we obilged the request. We pride ourselves on providing value and indeed brought a $2000 french chandelier fully wire and operational before and every time after, but someone unplugged the chandelier so I need to give her back the money which we did but sometimes its just never enough.....
I've worked with the Ooh Events crew several times. They never disappoint. From small and intimate weddings to a grand wedding celebration, Ooh will deliver nothing but the best. When we covering a wedding and we know Ooh Events is involved, we are confident everything will be nothing less than spectacular!
I have had the pleasure of working with Lisa and the rest of the talented ladies at Out Of Hand and OOH Events numerous times over the past few years. As an event planner, I am very hesitant to recommend anything but the best for my brides and OOH is nothing but the best. Their floral and decor is the best in town - in fact, I am so impressed with them on a daily basis, that I hired Lisa and the gang to do my own wedding and their performance there was no different. Lisa goes above and beyond to make every bride's day the day she has always dreamed of - often times losing money. As said before, you have to be in the business because you love it and Lisa definitely does!!!
Lisa Thomas and her team are wonderful to work with and I've never seen more creative floral arrangements! I refer all my brides to Ooh! events for all their floral and event needs!
Lisa and the team at Ooh Events have worked on several events with A Charleston Event and have become an integral part of our team. They love what they do and it shows in the quality performance and end result in the finished product. An Aladin's Cave of treasures make our jobs so easy when it comes to finding something different and unique for our clients. When we order something, it comes in correct and with no surprizes. We would highly recommend this vendor for florals and rentals as well as the gorgeous, fun shopping experience you'll get when you venture into their shop. They get it and we love them!
Photographing weddings with Ooh! Events is always a wonderful opportunity. Their unique and creative eyes give each wedding it's own character. It leaves me, the photographer, with plenty of material for great photos and is always inspiring. As a photographer I find it very important that the design details of a wedding are as special as every other aspect to get a really photojournalistic take on the day. Having worked with them as well as a bride, I can truly say that Ooh! events is an all around wonderful service. If you are looking for friendly people with that organic touch that gives weddings such a natural, beautiful style, then Ooh! events is the planner for you.
