Reviews for Whitehouse Caterers at Overhills Mansion, circa 1897

Whitehouse Caterers was extremely helpful with the entire process. They made sure to check with me about any guests needing special meals due to medical issues or vegetarians. The food was excellent and hot when it arrived to the table. All I can say is they are a definite 5-star company.

The planning process at Overhills is very organized. I was able to help decorate the ballroom myself, which I liked, but the facility’s day-of planner made sure everything went smoothly and all the guests were taken care of. All of our food was delicious. The display and taste was wonderful. We had plenty of food for all our guests. The tasting meeting also enabled us to try whatever foods we were considering. They were also very accommodating when dealing with special dietary issues.

The place was very lovely. There are two connected floors (one is a few steps higher than the other). We're ballroom dancers, so we decided to seat all 118 guests (plus the two of us) on the upper floor, with the lower floor reserved for the band and dancing. The staff was wonderful, and there are private rooms and bathrooms for the wedding party. There is also a lovely veranda and garden in the back, which is really nice for guests to relax at.
They were easy to work with in planning the wedding, with everything spells out ahead of time. They're run by Whitehouse Caterers, and I'm not sure if you can pick your own caterer or not.
The caterers were very nice to work with. We planning the Baltimore wedding from Boston, and they were very accommodating with our visiting/travel schedule. They let us take food sample home for example. The terms were spelled out very clearly. The food was very good, although I think the samples were a bit better--I'm not sure if that was just my high expectations though.
We had a very nice sit-down dinner with two entrees per person, along with appetizers and such. Alcohol was separate (they work with a vendor that delivers and picks up from the venue, and allows us to return any unopened bottles). The $75 price includes sodas, tax, and tip.

Wow - I can't say enough things about how wonderful our wedding reception was at Overhillls. The planning process was easy, and any little question I had was answered quickly and clearly. The quality of service we received was worth FAR more than what we paid, which was an incredible value. All of the personal touches I included were laid out exactly as I had hoped, the reception itself ran smoothly and was totally stress-free, and we had a blast. Even when we had a little snafu with the seating, the floor manager Brandy took care of it immediately and let us know it was resolved. We couldn't have asked for more.

I don't think there are enough complimenting words that I can say about Overhills Mansion. From the night we saw the venue to the end of our wedding night, we experience nothing but professionalism, kindness, open ears, and helpful suggestions. They made our wedding truly amazing. Staff was MORE than helpful that night. I had a small hiccup with my flowers and their staff was down in the trenches with my bridesmaids helping to solve the situation. My guests were all taken care of with the utmost care. The food was fantastic, we had compliments from guests all night long. I must say, we felt like royalty. If there is ever an event for us to hold again, we will with noubt book with Overhills Mansion/Whitehouse caterers. We will also recommend this place to EVERYONE we know getting married.Thank you, Overhills!!

I had my wedding reception at overhills mansion on 10/29/11. The whole process leading up to the date of my wedding was flawless. They helped with everything, provided suggestions, and were flexible in accomodating my needs. Any questions I had a recieved prompt replys back and they were quick to take care of any last minute details. On the date of my wedding the reception was flawless. Nothing felt rushed. I did book the 1 extra hour which worked out perfectly. All the staff worked quickly and efficiently. Everyone had an amazing time and the place looked amazing. Guest were impressed with the location. I wouldn't change a thing.

After looking near and far for a reception site that would fit in our budget, would comfortably accommodate our 150 guests and provide staff who would make the day easy for us, we found Overhills Mansion. We could not have asked for a smoother experience. From the beginning we received as much personal attention as we desired. After our initial view of the mansion we met with both a caterer/menu specialist and an event manager. They asked many questions to get a picture of what they could do to make the day meet our style and expectations. We chose a buffet menu from those offered but I had a special request of butternut squash ravioli (yes, in March!) and the chef made it happen. He also garnished it with an amazing hazelnut cream sauce. I imagine if we had any additional visions they would have also attended to those. And before my husband could even insist that we would not be one of those couples who missed the food at their own wedding, we were assured that we would be served while our guests were in line for the buffet. For alcohol, Overhills provided the bartenders but connected us to 40 West for the purchase and delivery of our alcohol. This allowed us to save a great deal of money and we had almost the perfect amount - just a few bottles left over and these were packaged up for us to take home. We had the opportunity to bring in our own DJ and Emcee (a friend who played songs from a play list in iTunes - saved a lot of money and assured that just the music we wanted would be played), name cards, table decorations, family photos for the mantle, a card box and, of course, the cake. Everything was delivered on the morning of the wedding and by the time guests arrived it was all arranged exactly as we had asked. What was incredibly helpful from a very practical point of view was that the contract was very clear. It laid out the deadlines for payments, detailing what each amount went towards (space rental, catering, etc..). There was never an unexpected charge. On the big day our maitre d welcomed us a few minutes after we arrived to our private room. She was very accommodating while also keeping us on schedule for such things as cutting the cake. She also made sure we had drinks in our hands whenever we wanted them. Because we brought our own decorations we needed a few minutes at the end of the reception to collect everything. Knowing that there was another party coming in soon behind us we were trying to hurry. The staff did not make us feel rushed at all. If you want to be assured that everything from the food to the service and the attention to detail runs seamlessly you should choose Overhills. We felt like VIPs at our own wedding!

We had our wedding reception at Overhills and we could not be happier with how everything turned out. We had 115 guests and felt as though that was the perfect amount. Everyone was seated comfortably and had a view of the bride and groom. The food and ambiance was absolutely fabulous!Lynda did a fantastic job helping us plan every detail. Brandi, the floor manager, was unbelievable. She was such a pleasure to work with and definitely took the time to make sure everything was perfect for us. I would highly recommend Overhills Mansion. We couldn't imagine celebrating our perfect day anywhere else.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Overhills this past weekend and we could not be happier with how everything turned out. Lynda did a fantastic job helping us plan every detail so that the event flowed smoothly and there were no surprises. Overhills was extremely responsive in answering all of our questions and that really put us at ease. We were able to drop off decorations, favors, etc. a few days before and when we arrived on the wedding day, everything had been set-up exactly as we planned. We were delighted to have good weather and were able to have the ceremony out on the back lawn. The grass and trees were beautiful and they provided a nice backdrop for pictures. We did not to worry about microphones as the ceremony site was very quiet and intimate. On the inside the mansion was gorgeously decorated with fall décor and it really cut down on our decorating costs/flowers. Everyone that attended complimented the venue. We had 110 guests total which I felt was the perfect amount. All the tables had a view of us, no one was in a back corner. Any more guests than we had and it may have been a little tight. Our floor manager was Brandi and she was fabulous! She kept everything running smoothly and was just great to interact with. While it did seem like there were quite a few rules when we were planning, on the day of the wedding, we found the entire staff to be EXTREMELY accommodating. They really made you feel like it was your day and they were there to make it great. I would highly recommend Overhills Mansion.

We chose Overhills for both our wedding ceremony and reception because of the picturesque house and yard, and for it's incredible value. There were a few pointless meetings that we had to attend in the beginning, but corresponding via email for most of the event planning worked out wonderfully. They were quick to answer any questions I had, no matter how ridiculous I sounded! We were given a free food tasting about 6 months before the wedding date. We decided on a formal sit-down dinner, and both the food and service was exceptional. The day of coordinator, Brandi was simply AMAZING!!!! She made sure that everything went smoothly and that I was taken care of every step of the way. The pictures in front of the mansion were incredible. The evening overall was everything I dreamed it would be!! I would highly recommend them to anyone!!!! GREAT VALUE for those on a budget!

We LOVED working with the Overhills Mansion! Since we didn't want to invest in a planner, the Overhills was the perfect choice! The planner, Lynda, took us through every detail to ensure that our reception was flawless. We dropped off our favors, place cards, guest book etc. the morning before and the mansion staff set everything up for us!The mansion is decorated beautifully so we didn't need to invest much in flowers either! Overall, the food was GREAT, the staff was EXCELLENT, and we stayed within a reasonable budget. We had about 100 guests and the mansion size was perfect! We highly recommend this venue as it is a great value for the price!

On teh day of my wedding it was raining..however we had planned an outdoor wedding. The hard working people at Overhills waited until the last minute to decide and we ended up being able to have it outside. The way that they decorate the mansion I barely needed to add anything, which since I was comming from out of town made everything so much easier. I would highly reccomend this venue. The people are flexible, professional, and on top of everything. I am so happy my wedding was here.

The Overhills Mansion was exactly the type of reception hall I was looking for. They included everything in their price (silverware, white linens, chairs, etc). The staff was extremely easy to work with and made our reception run without a hitch. They also gave us a list of recommended vendors (florists, dj, photographers, videographers) who had worked well with them before and with whom previous couples had been pleased with. The list made planning easier. They really made my wedding dreams come true. . .it was just what I wanted!

Everyone at the mansion is amazing. We had a little set back, RAIN. We were scheduled to have the wedding outside and it rained all day. However the staff at the mansion did everything possible to still make it the most beautiful and amazing day of our lives. Eveything was still as beautiful as I imagined. The staff was amazing the whole night. THey were all very polite and catered to our every need. The mansion is beautiful and very easy to work with. My contact person was always availible and if not she always had someone standing by to help me. THe food was delish. We had steak adn chicked and they were equally amazing. I would recommend the mansion to anyone who is looking for a great wedding experience.

We held our reception at Overhills Mansion and could not have been more satisfied with our selection. All of the staff were very professional and courteous, from our initial meeting with Judy, to our event detail meetings with Lynda and menu selection talks with Bob. Everyone was available when needed and worked with us and our coordinator every step of the way, especially Lynda who helped tremendously during decor and layout decisions. Everything was explained in detail throughout the planning process and there were no "surprise" charges when we received the final bill.We originally planned for 140 guests but ended up with 119 (plus 6 at the head table), which turned out to be a perfect number for the space. Everyone was able to be seated comfortably, could see the head table and we had a nice size area available for dancing. Anything over 125 guests (excluding the head table) and things would have been a little tight since we wanted a larger dance area. The floor manager the night of the reception was outstanding and made sure everything ran smoothly. The food came out nice and hot and tasted great!!! Our guests were definitely impressed with the venue and continue to give us compliments on the location and food. Overall, Overhills Mansion is a great selection for a reception venue for couples working with all budget sizes. The only thing keeping us from giving all 5's is that they don't accept credit cards, which could be an issue for some. Even with this minor matter (in our eyes), we would highly recommend Overhills Mansion!

For the planning process, Lynda was superb in responding back in a timely fashion to our questions and requests! The tasting of food did take some time to schedule, but it was very good. The food on the day of the reception was excellent (the steak portions are huge)! In addition, our floor manager was very flexible in terms of timing with the toasts, the cutting of the cake, and such. The only concern would be the space available. We had approximately 150 guests, and it felt crammed in there, with a few tables that did not have a view of us. I think the venue comfortably sits approximately 120, so please consider that! (we were like, "oh, it looks big enough").Otherwise, the staff were very professional and friendly! Definitely recommend!

Overall, Overhills Mansion was an excellent choice as a venue. They are truly affordable and the option to buy your own alcohol wholesale really saves money. The staff and manager on the day of were excellent. The main contacts throughout the planning process weren't as outstanding. On a few occasions the main contacts would question the decisions that I made for my own wedding. But overall the experience was wonderful! We saved money on flowers and decorations since the mansion was already tastfully decorated for the holidays. On the day of the wedding, the staff were extremely organized and helpful.

Overhills was amazing! The staff was great, they were all very professional and made my wedding very elegant. The whole staff falls all over you, calls you for reminders of things to do...they did a wonderful job with the reception tables and breaking down from the ceremony was quick and easy. They also did a wonderful job of keeping me hidden from eager guests wanting to sneak a peek of me before the ceremony. The food was very good not that I tried much of it! But the guests all had a wonderful time!

My husband and I had our wedding outdoors and our reception indoors at the Overhills Mansion at 7:30pm. The first time we visited the mansion, I knew it was the place I wanted to get married. Everything was beautiful, and I could picture our wedding before my eyes. The staff was great and always kept in touch with me, answering my millions of questions and helping me prepare for my wedding day. Everything was perfect for our special day - the beautiful mansion itself inside and outside, the staff working during our wedding, and the excellent food that was served. There were many great spots for pictures to be taken by our photographer which was another big plus. All of our guests absolutely loved the mansion! We are still getting compliments to this day. I hope my husband and I get to go back to the mansion one day!

Overhills Mansion/Whitehouse Caterers helped to make our wedding day extra special. Not only were they there throughout every step of the planning process with me (answering my 10,000 emails of questions), but they were always calm, ready to offer a solution to any problems we encountered, and super flexible. We were a little worried that the food wasn't going to be up to snuff, having had two tastings with them, but on our wedding day we were extremely pleased with what we were presented with. The day-of banquet manager was AMAZING as well, she was on top of every single detail and I didn't have to worry AT ALL that day. You will be in great hands if you book here. Just keep in mind that you can tweak any part of the menu you want, and that you can of course order outside linens etc.. if you want to (we did and the room looked that much more awesome!). Make sure that you clearly understand what is and what is not included in the contract (there are so many things to remember as a bride), and everything else will fall into place. =)
GUEST

I had an amazing experience with Overhills Mansion and would highly recommend them to any future brides. They are very flexible with any budget, and Lynda is amazing to work with - she'll answer any question you may have and they do everything they can to make your wedding day perfect.

This was a gorgeous venue, I loved it for my winter wedding. Since we got married "off season" it was incredibly inexpensive but still great. They had flower arrangements we could use, built in decorating bc the mansion is so pretty. Lots of space, good staff, and very reasonable. Only down side - no flames allowed, so if you want candles on your tables or a fireplace in the winter, you have to figure a way around that (I used battery operated tealights in my centerpieces and nobody knew they were fake!).
GUEST

Overhills Mansion and Whitehouse Caterers were wonderful for our February reception. All of our guests commented on how lovely the mansion was and how wonderful the food was. Overhills Mansion exceeded our expectations and all of the staff who worked the reception were wonderful, very courteous and professional. For me, the best part in terms of planning was Lynda, the event planner. She was always on top of things, responded to my e-mails and phone calls promptly, and made sure everything went off perfectly. As I could not afford a wedding planner, being able to have Lynda coordinating all the details at Overhills was the next best thing. The only reason I can't give Overhills 5 stars for responsiveness is that the catering manager often took a long time to get back to us on requests/questions we had. Ultimately, however, everything worked out with the food and it was delicious.
GUEST

Working with Overhills was easy, I had no trouble getting in contact with them and they answered all the questions we had. We had 105 guests and the ballroom space was perfect. It didn't feel crowded and there was enough room for a dance floor. From what I noticed, the service was great and no one had any complaints. My in-laws surprised us with a bag & pipes band during cocktail hour and they had no problems working with the staff to organize the surprise. I thought the appetizers and the whitehouse market cart were great. For the buffet the chicken maryland was too dry, but the garlic mashed potatoes and pasta were really good. I thought the roast beef was so-so, but I had guests say they liked it a lot. Working with John at 40 West Liquors was easy. I'm glad we could chose what kind and types of alcohol to have at the wedding. At the end of the night Overhills packed up all the leftover alcohol (minus any extra beer) and gave it to us. By the time we got back from our honeymoon, John had already credited us back for the extra beer left over and Overhills had returned our deposit.
GUEST

Everyone we worked with at Overhills Mansion was very professional and helpful. They all responded in a timely fashion and I felt confident that everything would go smoothly on the day of the wedding. The Mansion is beautiful and comes with lots of decorations already there, which you can keep where they are or they can store them if you don't like them. They're very flexible with whatever you want.
GUEST

Although we did not have our ceremony here, my entire experience with the staff at Overhills Mansion was wonderful. They were very helpful from the very beginning, and made sure to remind me of important details that I may have otherwise forgotten. I was not pleased with the food during our first tasting, but offered some suggestions and chose to go with the same 2 meal choices. At our reception, we were very pleased with the food and so were our guests. The mansion is beautiful and the price is affordable, compared to other similar venues in the area. The mansion staff helped to make our wedding day perfect for us.
GUEST

The Overhills staff was wonderful to us. They were very reasonable with fixed fees and were flexible enough to work within our budget. We couldn't have been happier.
GUEST

The mansion is beautiful and Brandy (our day of coordinator) and the other day of staff were great. They were very helpful and our guests raved about the quality of service they provided. The option to bring in your own alcohol was great and John from 40 Liquors was great to work with. Linda, the event planner was wonderful to work with during the planning process. She was always very responsive and helpful. The only down sides were the fact that you can't taste the food prior to booking, and you can't have candles. However the food was excellent. We had a sit down dinner with 2 meal options plus a veg. option and we were very happy with the food the day of.
GUEST

The event was very organized. The food was very good. Overall, I was very happy. You cannot taste the food until after booking but they let you get tastes of whatever you're interested in. Everything is well organized there and they have an event planner so things run smoothly. You can use their centerpieces or your own. You can display your own photos on all the fireplace mantles. Lots of food choices and affordable. You provide your own alcohol which saves a ton of money.
GUEST

Overhills was beautiful, we got SO many compliments regarding the reception and how beautiful it was! The decor was perfect all by itself, we only had to provide centerpieces (they provide oil lamps if you like, as they don't allow candles, which was fine by us!). The rental fee and menu pricing was more than reasonable, especially for the DC/Baltimore area. The staff, and Lynda, the event coordinator especially, were all very easy to work with. Although Lynda wasn't there the evening of our wedding, their floor manager did a phenomenal job! The only complaint we had was from some guests who thought the meat was a little tough, but not everyone said that, so it just might have been a few drier pieces. I opted for the vegetarian mean (which they offer at no additional charge), so I have no idea how the meat was- the veggie meal was great! We were also lucky enough to get in 7 or 8 hours before the reception to set-up because they didn't have another event that morning, which was such a HUGE help! We had a wonderful time at Overhills and would recommed it to everyone. We even had some of our friends who are getting married in a few months express that they wish (after attending our wedding) that they had looked at Overhills instead of their current reception location!
GUEST

Overhills Mansion and Whitehouse Caterers were a dream to work with. The facility is lovely...it looked even more beautiful at night than I imagined. The entire staff from the planners to the coordinators to the servers were amazing. They were extremely organized and thorough. They kept me on my toes and I am a planning fanatic. They tended to my every need during the entire event. The food was delicious. I received many complements about the entire event. It is a great value for your money. The only downside is that they are not flexible on certain things. For instance, you cannot select the timeof your reception; you have two choices, 1pm or 7pm. They are inflexible with some of their policies, like no candles, you cannot bring your items, like favors and such any earlier than 1-1/2 hour before your event. You have to use Whitehouse Caterer. However, to me, that was a minor inconvenience. Also, not a good venue if you plan to have more than 100 guests. Highly recommended!!!
GUEST

the Mansion is a great option for any budget. They have a ton of options. I wouldn't recomend the mansion if you are having a large wedding. We invited 130 and ended up with 100 guests, which was perfect for the size of the mansion. They helped me with all the details and everything came together perfectly with very little effort on my part.

The staff and manager on the day of were excellent. The main contacts throughout the planning process weren't as outstanding. On a few occasions the main contacts would question the decisions that I made for my own wedding! Besides their brusqueness, the experience was wonderful! The planning process went seamless, and the catering manager offered several ideas and alternatives that we never thought of or knew would be available at the same price. They allowed us to taste several of their items, and all of our guests (albeit a few picky eaters) thoroughly enjoyed their meals!
GUEST

Very flexible (they have great event planners - comes with booking with them). Very responsive and excellent prices. The place was decorated so nicely (we had ours in the winter so in the winter months they automatically decorate for the season - so that less cost for the bride and groom to pay for decorations).
GUEST

I fell in love with Overhills when my husband and I first visited. Beautiful, warm, cozy feel - it was just what I always wanted. We visited a few places but none compared. The flexibility with our payment schedule was very helpful, we both were changing jobs and moving to a new state. This was an amazing help to us.We held our ceremony and reception at Overhills Mansion and overall it went well. The staff was professional (other than the toasting ice wine we saved for a year was tossed/taken - this really upset my husband) and courteous, particularly the bartenders. In the correspondence leading up to the wedding, the coordinators were responsive and patient. It took us a while to settle on a suitable menu, but we were happy with the choices. There were a lot of things we could not do at the Mansion - candles, bubbles, rice, confetti etc were banned. This forced us to be creative. Some of our guests had trouble seeing because of the room layout, but everyone enjoyed themselves. Overall good experience!
GUEST

Overhills Mansion was great. We had our ceremony and reception on location. Lynda was extremely helpful in planning the on-site coordination along with our wedding coordinator. She worked with us when at least 30% of our invited guest didn't RSVP and the catering needed to be altered at least two times. The only downside was the A/C in the building. Its an old building with rather old A/C units. Plenty of people couldn't stay cool enough to dance for long periods of time. Many of the bridal party and guests stay attached to the A/C units to get cooled down throughout the night. That was the only thing that was displeasing to both of us.
GUEST

Overhills Mansion was a nice location to have our wedding. We were able to have our ceremony and reception there, which was convenient. A big plus was that we could plan to get married outside but if the weather didn’t cooperate, they would set up inside for you. Luckily, the weather was nice for us. The useable space in the mansion is divided into a couple of rooms and includes two covered verandahs. It allowed a nice flow of people throughout the area. The ballroom had three doors that opened onto the verandah, which were kept open due to the nice weather; many guests commented that they liked how the rooms connected to the outside since usually people who go outside at a wedding feel disconnected to the events going on inside. We had about 120-130 guests, which felt like the maximum that could comfortably fit. The staff helped us plan details of the ceremony and reception we would probably never had even considered. They have a very comprehensive event planning document that really helps determine how everything should be scheduled and arranged. The food was delicious; however, it was a very difficult process to determine the menu. I’d like to mention that if you are doing a sit down meal or buffet, this process would have been much easier and the following comments about menu planning would probably not apply. We, however, were aiming for a cocktail or appetizer type reception, where people mingled and moved around, rather than having assigned seats. It took a meeting, close to 30 emails, and a few phone calls to work out our menu. You must use the Whitehouse Caterers when having an event at the mansion. The pricing structure was difficult to understand or predict. My past experience with caterers is you order a certain amount of food (e.g. 300 meatballs, x pounds of pasta, etc.) and there is a per unit price. At Overhills, however, the price of one dish depends on what else you are ordering. I suppose this is supposed to take the guess work out of menu planning; however, it was a very frustrating process. We wound up using a food station idea, with different foods at different tables in two of the rooms. In the end though our guests kept telling us how delicious the food was so I guess all the back and forth for menu planning was worth it.A few other things that didn’t work out as planned was that they were supposed to provide small plates to go with the food so people would understand it was not a sit down dinner. Instead, they provided regular sized dinner plates, which people filled and sat down with. This wouldn’t have been so bad except that it affected the flow of the reception and we didn’t have enough tables for everyone since it wasn’t supposed to be a sit down meal. Another issue was that we had cupcakes for dessert from a bakery and an ice cream sundae bar from the caterers at the mansion. I asked prior to the wedding if they would be able to have the cupcakes and ice cream sundae bar next to each other, which they said they could. At the time of the reception though the hostess said they couldn’t move the cupcakes. Therefore, some guests didn’t know there was ice cream and some guests didn’t know the cupcakes were available. Overall, the atmosphere was nice, the food was good, and the guests had a great time. As a couple trying to plan a perfect event though, there were a few frustrations. I would recommend Overhills for more standard events (i.e. sit down meals or buffets) rather than trying to do something a little out of the ordinary (i.e. cocktail reception).

I loved Overhills! They seemed very reasonable as far as pricing compared to other venues we had researched. I didn't mind the fact that you have to use Whitehouse Caterers, since that just meant it was one less decision I had to make. The food at the wedding actually tasted better than it did at our tasting. We opted for the buffet, which worked out perfectly. Brandy, our wedding coordinator for the day, was super nice. She was helpful and smiling the whole night . . . always making sure my husband and I had enough to eat and drink. We had 150 guests, which is probably the maximum amount of people you should have if you want enough space for a dance floor. Luckily, it was a beautiful September night, and so we were able to utilize the outside deck. It looked wonderful out there . . . and really added a summery feel to the whole evening. The only thing I would complain about is that you can not use candles in the reception area. We used LED candles, which looked a lot better than I originally thought. Overall, Overhills was amazing!
GUEST

We wanted to find a venue where we could do the ceremony outdoors, and have the reception at the same site, and have the catering taken care of so we didn't have to find our own caterer. We found what we were looking for at Overhills Mansion, and the price was right. it was also great that we got to get our alcohol elsewhere and take the leftovers home with us. What a great idea! The outdoor setting was absolutely beautiful and it ceremony was perfect. The reception was nice, but I don't think the food was great (mine was cold) and the guests on the top portion of the room couldn't hear the music. The day of the wedding everything went very smoothly and the servers, bartenders and event coordinator did an excellent job. I didn't have to worry about anything. My only issue was the responsiveness during the planning process. As a bride, I like to be organized and plan ahead, but it was difficult to get responses from them and they didn't treat us as very important. The way they do menu tastings is to have you pick up some of your meals in containers and take them home to reheat and try. I wanted to taste all of the food, including appetizers and not out of plastic containers that we had to reheat at home and they made it seem like this was an unusual request. Not to mention that the day they scheduled for us to pick up our reheated food was on Valentine's Day! Just what we want to eat that day. We had about 100 guests, which was a perfect amount for the small room and spent over $10,000 at this venue (alcohol wasn't included), but I didn't feel that we were anything special, just another number. Overall, I think for the money spent we had a great wedding. It could just be that from watching too many shows, like "Who's wedding is it anyway?" that I expected more during the planning stages, but we have beautiful pictures and now that it's all done I am still happy we used this venue.

The mansion made for a beautiful wedding site. The staff on the wedding day was great.

The venue is beautiful however they aren't flexible when it comes to scheduling your wedding rehearsal. Also the food was good but it was COLD. When one of the servers was told the food was cold & it needed to be heated, the server commented that they would be unable to reheat everyone's food.

The wedding day itself and the caterers and staff involved were amazing! The food was delicious and everything was taken care of. The grounds were gorgeous and the pictures turned out great, so all in all we are definately glad we chose them. But leading up to the day the administrative staff was not as easy. They were very quick with us on many deifferent occasions, and when I would request information nothing was done about it, but when I wrote them an email asking for the same information through my fiance's email address they responded. Little things that turned us off, but the day itself went beautifully!

Overall, Overhills Mansion was ok, however, I found them to be lacking in customer service. Not only did they unexpectedly raise their prices by a great deal per person, due to "gasoline" prices, I found them to be very inattentive during my reception, not refilling my water glass at all. My wedding cake and silver cake plate were very expensive, and the I believe that the staff indulged in eating my cake, as many of my guests commented that they did not get a piece, I bought more than necessary, and there were no pieces left over. I never got my silver cake plate back. Overall, while they were less expensive than many places in Baltimore, you often get what you pay for. Incidentally, I never received a thank you note from them, after spending a great deal of money with their company, which I believe, is very poor customer service.

A little like a roller coaster ride with the venue throughout the process, but the actual wedding day was great. It's a beautiful venue, which is why we chose it...not for the food, the service, or anything else. You pretty much get what you pay for, but it is a great value for the atmosphere you get. If you have a specific vision of what you want for your wedding day and not willing to budge, this is not the place for you. They're pretty strict about what you can and can't do, but they are somewhat willing to work with you. The meetings they make you come to aren't really productive; the hours during which they schedule them aren't convenient either.Even though they're a catering company, you don't actually get a tasting of the food you choose (well, you can for $100). If you do want to try the food, you have to settle for the leftovers of someone else's event, pick it up at their convenience, and heat it up yourself. Most everything can be done through email, and once you get to communicating with the planner, Lynda, responses are quicker and the level of concern for your event gets better. Be patient with them--you will certainly need it. The food was okay...the shrimp in our shrimp and steak combo were seriously almost invisible they were so small, but for the most part it tasted good; the shrimp from our tasting were a lot bigger, so it was misleading. Overall, pretty good service throughout. The day of the wedding was great and the pictures turn out fantastic!
We've done dozens and dozens of weddings at Overhills Mansion, and we absolutely love playing there! The food is very consistent and the staff really knows what they're doing, it makes our job even easier. Highly recommend!
Our staff loves Overhills Mansion. Brandi is a dream to work with. The Ballroom has been recently renovated and is a must see for any bride getting married. There is also a lovely setting outside for ceremonies.
One of my favorite venues, Overhills Mansion is lovely, intimate, romantic, and filled with a great staff that goes above and beyond to make their couples experience unforgettably beautiful.
The White House staff at Overhill's is very professional and they do a great job. Yummy food too :)
