Amanda at P Lawrence was absolutely amazing in helping me pick out my wedding dress! I tried on so many dresses and came back for a second visit before I found "the one." Amanda's caring and attentive nature helped me throughout the dress search. On top of that, the store is charming and has a great selection of dresses that are gorgeous but surprisingly reasonable in price. I highly recommend the store and thank you to Amanda for being absolutely amazing!

The ladies at P Lawrence made my gown shop in experience an absolute dream! They knew I wasn't ready to buy (as this was my first shopping trip) and yet they still treated me as if I was going to spend $10,000 in their store. I live in the Philadelphia area and could have easily ordered my dress from somewhere closer, but the service I was provided with was second to none and I will be making trips to MD just for alterations, etc. Love these ladies!

P Lawrence Bridals % Formals is such a great store for wedding gowns. They have the most magnificent dresses to choose from. So many different types of styles which are all so fascinating. Purchased my wedding dress from them and I absolutely LOVE it!

P Lawrence was the second shop that I visited when looking for a dress. I'd already seen a floor sample for sale on their website, and was hoping that it was still available. It was - and after I tried it on, it was clear that it would need a LOT of work to be tailored to fit me. The dress was a beautiful alencon lace Jim Hjelm, and I knew it would not be easy or fun to work with. That's where I have to give SO much credit to Lola, the seamstress at P Lawrence.
Lola did an amazing job taking my dress down several sizes. She had to reconstruct parts of the bodice to fit me, and she had to take in the delicate lace. By the time she was done, the dress fit me like a second skin. This truly was a labor of love for her, and I can't imagine that it was easy work. However, she did an amazing job, and the dress looked incredible on my wedding day.

How I loved this boutique! I live 1.5 hours away from them & still chose to have my dress altered at their location. Mia was so pleasant to work with & was there every step of the way with all the changes I had made! I have had 4 girlfriends by there dresses from P Lawrence & would highly recommend them!

Working with the ladies at P. Lawrence was one of my favorite parts of wedding planning! The whole experience from picking out my gown to my final fitting was wonderful. When I first went to P. Lawrence, I had already been to several shops in Northern VA (where I live) and was pretty much put off with how rude many of the shop owners were and how dishonest they were about telling me the designer and names of the dresses that I was trying on. When I went to P. Lawrence, my experience was completely different. I met with Mia and she was so warm and friendly and showed me many Maggie Sottero gowns. P. Lawrence has such a great selection of quality gowns it was hard to choose one. I loved so many of them. Mia did a great job helping me narrow down my choices, so I walked away with the perfect dress for me. She also worked to make sure I could afford the dress. By selling me the sample gown, Mia allowed me to have the dress I had been searching for without blowing my budget. I admit I was a bit nervous about buying a sample as the gown was about 6 sizes bigger than what I normally wear, but all those worries went away when I started working with P. Lawrence’s seamstress,Lola. She is amazing! She had my dress fitting perfectly and was able to do everything I wanted with it. She too was warm and friendly and you can tell she cares a lot about her work and making the brides happy. I can’t say enough good things about my experience with this bridal shop and I highly recommend it to other brides, even those who live about 40 minutes way. I promise it is worth the drive! The shop is adorable, the staff is friendly and you can tell they care about each of their brides. They truly make you feel special and will be able to get you an amazing gown at a great price. I will miss coming into the shop now that my wedding is over!

After looking through countless bridal shops, I finally stepped into P Lawrence and found THE dress!! The shop is beautiful, clean, and cozy! I went on a Friday afternoon when it was quiet. Mia was fabulous with picking styles and listening to what I wanted. She was kind and made me feel comfortable. Mia selected beautiful gowns and was very patient with me. Mia actually chose a stunning dress for my upcoming fall wedding! I couldn't be happier with my purchase! Thanks Mia!!

The girls were so helpful and the store has a great selection! I had a wonderful experience finding my dress.

I had been to a few bridal stores around the area (DC, VA, MD) and was getting frustrated with the selection. A friend recommended P Lawrence and I headed there, not expecting anything different. But, I was pleasantly surprised! My consultant, Dixie, was friendly, personable and listened exactly to what I described. I found my dress after only trying 3 on, which was super surprising.
My seamstress, Vera (I believe that is her name?) did an amazing job on the point d'esprit lace on my dress. She ended up having to re-hem it because I had lost weight and made sure that on the day I came to pick up my dress that it fit me perfectly.
The only downfall is that the prices for the dress and alterations were somewhat more than I had planned to spend, but the quality is...

I had the BEST experience with P. Lawrence. I tried on what eventually became THE dress a week before Filene's Basement's Running of the Brides. I fell in love with the dress but still wanted to do Running of the Brides. After trying dress after dress, none measured up to the one I had my eye on at P. Lawrence. I went back in on a whim and my wonderful consultant, Mia, put me back into the dress and I was sold. It was one of the most unique dresses I had ever laid my eyes on - a mermaid lace dress with an incredible overlay and layers upon layers of delicate lace. It took 5 fittings, but eventually fit perfectly. Cannot give enough credit to the amazing seamstress, Lola. She was so flexible with scheduling and made the dress fit exactly as I wanted it. Nearly all of the comments I've received about the wedding have included the words "Your dress was incredible." Thanks to the ladies at P. Lawrence for a great dress shopping and fitting experience!

I have to tell you that this tiny shop was by far the best in the DMV area. They provided great service without being snobby which I found in most of the bridal salons in this area. I bought my dress there and I kept losing weight so I had many alterations there, everyone was fantastic.

P. Lawrence offered decent service when I was in the store but when it came to the ordering of my dress and when it was going to come in I was pulled in all sorts of directions. I would still go back again and recommend to a friend but I would recommend just going to get your dress a lot earlier and make it clear when you need it by.

I loved working with the ladies at P. Lawrence. I had been to about 6-7 other bridal salons in the DC area before going to P. Lawrence. There was absolutely no comparison - P. Lawrence was by far the nicest salon I visited and the ladies there are incredibly helpful. Their dress prices are slightly higher than other stores in the area, but I happily paid it for the wonderful customer service. Also, their seamstress Lola is AMAZING!!! I cannot recommend her enough. She altered my very ornate bodice from a size 14 to a size 8 and made it into a sweetheart neckline. No one had any idea that I'd had the dress altered. It was PERFECT!!
GUEST

It seems that they do not answer the phone even during business hours, and it takes a couple days to get your message returned. I've bought my dress from P. Lawrence but am going elsewhere for alterations, but I appreciate that even when I told this to them they still encouraged me to hear the estimate and ideas from their seamstress. I appreciate that they even fit me in for a fitting before their opening hours!
I'll update this review based on how things continue to go with them.

I was SO happy with the ladies at P. Lawrence Bridal. When I got to the store, it was the fourth place I had been to that day. I was starting to think I wasn't going to find a dress I liked that was in my modest budget. When I tried on my third option, it was as though it was made for me. Then I learned that if I ordered the dress, even a rush order, it would not be ready until about a month AFTER my wedding day. I was crushed. Dixie and Mia immediately called the designer and found out that there was one dress available in stock. It was about three sizes too big but they assured me they could fit it to me. They weren't kidding. Lola, their seamstress is phenomenal, and so sweet. The dress came about two weeks before my wedding and she altered it perfectly with time to spare. Everything turned out wonderfully. A few months after my wedding, my husband and I were going to Europe to have a second ceremony for my family there. I had the ladies at P. Lawrence send my dress away for cleaning. The cleaner promised it would arrive well before my flight. It still hadn't arrived on the day of my flight. Dixie called the delivery company, got the GPS location of the driver and drove to him to get the dress, all so that I could get the dress on time before my flight. Now that is service! The ladies there always made me feel welcome whenever I came. I am so thankful they were on our list. I would definitely recommend them! VT

I have had the best experience imaginable here! That staff are all so helpful. When I tried on my dress here I didn't feel pressured at all. I really felt like everyone there was genuine in helpinge find what was best for me, and I valued there opinions. They get excited with you and make your experience special! ( unlike other stores that make it obvious that they do it everyday) Since P Lawrence was the first store I looked for a dress, I went to a couple other stores just to be sure. But, the customer service-and the dress- made it impossible for me to even consider going anywhere else! They go above and beyond what I would have expected. Recently, they arranged a fitting for me on a day that the seamstress wasn't scheduled to be in the store to accommodate for my grandmother (from KY) to be there. I have recommended P Lwarence to friends and will continue to without hesitation!

I can't say enough about the ladies at P Lawrence. With each appointment I was greeted by name and with a warm smile. They were patient as I tried on dress after dress. My seamstress, Lola, was amazing. As I kept losing weight, she kept adjusting my dress until it fit perfectly on my wedding day. I highly recommend this store when looking for bridesmaid or wedding dresses.

I found my beautiful wedding dress here. I was initially undecided about the dress I chose so I left and said I would think about it. The dress had been discontinued and there was only one dress left from the manufacturer and it was in my size. I came back a few days later after I couldn't stop thinking about the dress. The dress was almost purchased by someone else at a different store!!!! The girls at P. Lawrence snatched it up for me!!!
They have a great selection. The dressing area is very open and well lit so you can actually see how you would look under natural light in the dress. The girls were very nice and helpful. They were patient and I did not feel rushed to try on a dress. Highly...

I fell in love with my gown at P. Lawrence. Everyone is very helpful and knowledgeable, and I loved trying on dresses and getting honest opinons!

It's a real shame because the purchase process at P. Lawrence was amazing. Cara was my consultant and she was so friendly, easy to work with, sensitive to my budget and I knew the moment I met her that she would sell me my dress.
I ordered my dress at the end of January and was told a ship date of July 7th. I called at the beginning of July and was told that the ship date was on schedule. When I called two weeks later, it still hadn't shipped. Two weeks later I called again, and was told it was shipping the following week, which, surprise, didn't happen and wouldn't ship until September 14th because of supposed production delays at Maggie Sottero. At this point, I needed to know what was up. I called a half-dozen bridal boutiques in the DC area to see if they were experiencing the same delays. None of them were. I also called Maggie Sottero to see if they could give me any information. They told me that they were not experiencing any delays, couldn't tell me what date the dress was ordered, but would call P. Lawrence on my behalf. The dress shipped a few days later.
When I went to pick up the dress, I spoke with Dixie, who seemed apologetic, but firm that the boutique was not at fault, but wouldn't disclose when the dress was ordered. At that point, I took the dress and left since clearly I was not solving the mystery of why my dress was two months late.
The timing of the trunk show where I ordered my dress, the original ship date and the date of my wedding left me with piece of mind. There were plenty of wedding-related items that needed attention. This added 2 months of unneeded and unwanted stress, and piece of mind went out the window. I made the calls each time, there were no courtesy calls that the dress was delayed. I had also been told that I would receive a call "the second" the dress came in. Unless I called while the UPS deliveryman was still there, I didn't receive that call either.

P Lawrence and their staff were a godsend after my first dress fitting experience. The first place I looked was Hannelore's in Old Town Alexandria....BIG MISTAKE. They were awful, I wont even get into it. Second stop of the day was to P Lawrence and from the moment I walked in the door it was what I imagined dress shopping would be. They made me feel like that store was there just for me, like I was the only customer that was there. The entire staff was super sweet and engaging. After I purchased my dress....which showed up 2 months late but not by P Lawrence's fault, They breezed me though the fittings. They also kept me up to date as to when my dress was supposed to ship (issues at the factory). After Lola did my three fittings that dress fit me like a glove. I was so comfortable in my dress all night. It makes me sad I can't wear it again. Although we did not purchase our bridesmaid dresses there they do have a large selection and I think they offered a deal on them if you also bought your wedding dress there. Overall this place was great, I would recommend it to anyone. From where I live it was about an hour and a half drive, not including the days there was traffic but I tell you it was absolutely worth the drive.

P Lawrence was the perfect place to get my wedding gown. Very clean, caring and great staff. Dixie was my consultant and she is AMAZING!!! From the first conversation I had with her, I felt at ease. She made me feel super special and the experience fun and easy. Love love love Dixie. DEFINITELY suggest P Lawrence.

I bought my dress a Maggie Sorterro and my five bridesmaids dresses Bill Levkoff. The service we received was great and even with two out of state bridesmaid their ordering process was easy. Everyone I worked with there was friendly and very responsive.
We got all the dresses at the expected date and mine even came in a little earlier! They were able to set me up with their seamstress and I had no complaints.

I found my dress at P Lawrence on the first day, Kendra by Maggie Sottero. It wasn't one that I had envisioned for myself but tried it on after Kara (sp?) insisted! Anyways it was the one! They had a very varied selection of different types of dresses.
The staff are all so friendly, and I will miss dropping by for my fittings! It was always a blast, they even made my dad love dress shopping:).
Lola was an excellent seamstress- she was available at times that worked with my schedule, and did beautiful work.

It all worked out in the end but I believe it was because I was on top of it. I ordered my dress in plenty of time to come in and acutally had very little problems with that process. When it came to the bridesmaids dress that was a whole other story. I still believe that they forgot to order the dresses and if I had not called to check on them then who knows when they would have come in. We ordered our dresses in February. I was told they would be in by April. When I check in April I was told they were on the way. Called a couple days later and found out my dress was in and so were the bridemaids dresses. Drove the hour drive to the shop to find out that my dress was in but the bridemaids dresses were not mine but another brides. I called back a couple days later and found out they were back ordered. Why didn't they call me. Never once did they call me to update me about the status of any of my items. In the end the dresses conveniently came in 8 weeks late. Sounds to me like they were rush shipped when someone realized they were never ordered. (I didn't even get into the disaster about when the girls ordered them and they tried to get someone who is a size 8 to the a size 16).
The only thing good that came out of this was the alteration place. It is a couple doors down and she is good and cheap. I had to have my dress altered down 2 sized because they convinced me to get a 19 when I am a 6. The outside of my dress was all hand sewen lace. The seamstress had to take it all off on the sides to alter it and then put it back on. She only charged my $140. I had another dress altered for my rehearsal dinner and it only cost my $25. She is worth the drive.
Vendor response to review
Dear Meghan.
We are really sorry to hear you were unhappy with our services.
When it comes to ordering a bridal gown and even bridesmaids the quoted ship dates are approximate. We try and tell our brides and bridesmaids that it takes about 3-4 months for bridesmaids and 6-8 for bridal gowns, unless you rush order the dresses.
Since your wedding was in mid September the dresses arriving in the 1st week of June would be ample time for any alterations. The bridesmaids dresses were ordered on 02/03/11 which once they arrived was almost exactly 4 months.
In regards to your bridal gown we sincerely apologize that the sizing wasn't to your liking as we only go by your measurements and then by designers recommended size, which is whatever your largest measurement is. You then have to alter down in the other areas. However, the designer does not carry a size "19" and from your chart we ordered you a 10 which is a street size 6.
Again, we really do apologize if this caused you any extra stress for your Big Day.
If there is anything we can do to rectify this issue please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
P Lawrence Bridals & Formals

I was very pleased with my dress (Maggie Sotero) I dealt with Dixie, she was very helpful and accomodating. I was never pressured to buy the dress. They have a good selection of veils and accesories. I bought my long earings there too and I got lots of compliments. Prices were very competitive.
GUEST

I am glad that I was recommended this place! When I was selecting my dress and veil I never once felt pressured to purchase something out of my budget. They helped me with all of my 6 bridesmaid and found a dress that actually fit every body type. Dixie was nothing but wonderful and sweet. I am going to miss seeing her. They really made me feel special throughout the entire process. All the girls are wonderful and sweet and I will always appreciate everything they helped me with!

Love love love this place! The girls that work at P Lawrence are one of a kind. I never once felt pressured into buying and I ended up buying an amazing dress and at a great price. My consultant was Kara and she was patient, honest and didn't try to BS me on what looked great on me. She actually talked me OUT of a dress that was twice the price rather than sell it to me just to get the sale. You can tell they really enjoy their jobs.
I too had my bridesmaids get their dresses here and never had a problem. They fit well, and as most brides know alterations were needed, thats common knowledge.
I find it hard to believe that someone would have a bad experience on behalf of P Lawrence. Definitely take my word for it and go here.

I found my dream dress from P Lawrence Bridals and knew from the first time that I visited that I wanted to work with the lovely ladies who own the place. They were always pleasant and easy to work with. The dresses were reasonably priced and there were many brands to choose from. I would recommend them to any bride because they are all fashion forward and truly know their dresses!! I could not ask for anything more and am ecstatic that I found this boutique!!!!

Cute dress shop with a pretty decent selection. The ladies were very nice and pleasant to work with. I love my dress and got lots of compliments about it! I'm not sure that I would 100% recommend getting your alterations there though. I didn't have much altered but needed about 5 alteration appointments. Lola seemed to want to wait to fix things until the end, so I kept going back to find the same changes needed to be done - wasting some trips. The last appointment she booked 2 other people that night when it was my last appointment to pick up my dress 2 days before the wedding. We were waiting a long time to wait for her other appointments who were late to their appointments and were in the very early stages of their alterations. Knowing that I was 2 days away from my wedding, she shouldn't have scheduled so many appointments that night and had me wait while her late clients were taken care of.
Apart from alterations though, P Lawrence was great and I really liked my dress!

I found my perfect wedding dress at P Lawrence and I am so glad we decided to look there! They were so friendly, helpful, and personable. They really made you feel comfortable during the looking process. I came back a couple times to try on the dress and make sure it was "the one" and each time they never rushed me or made me feel like they were pushing to make the sale (like you might find at other stores). The dress needed significant alterations and cleaning because it was a floor sample. Their seamstress Lola is so sweet and amazing at what she does. She did such a good job and the dress turned out beautiful. We probably had like 3 or 4 final fittings to get the small details right. She even altered my mom's old veil for me to wear on the big day and that looked fantastic too. Everyone there was so great to work with! I would definitely recommend looking there.
GUEST

I had a wonderful experience shopping for my wedding dress at P. Lawrence. The staff was helpful, the store was not crowded, and they gave me plenty of help without being pushy on choosing a dress. Lola from alterations helped sale the deal on a Maggie Soterro dres for me when she agreed to make the neckline into a true sweetheart. The alterations were a little pricey, and the bustle was not set up to be easily done by bridesmaids, but the dress looked beautiful and my experience there with shopping and fittings was great. I highly recommend them for their professionalism and the cleanliness and overall appearrance of the store.

I loved this place! It was the perfect experience! The staff was great and their seamstress LOLA was amazing! I didn't think I would fine my dress there since the only have a wall of dresses but I found 3! Each time I went the staff was very personable and encouraging! I want to go back and I want to wear my dress again!!!!

I went to P Lawrence Bridals for my first place to find a dress. They were very sweet and very helpful. I found my dress there. It was the third one I put on. But since it was my first place, I decided to keep shopping. I ended up buying the same dress at a different salon because it was cheaper. From what I am told the dress prices reflect the rental price for the salon. That is why some places have the same dress for a little less or more. I'm not 100% on whether this is the reason, either way they were a really nice salon and very kind people. I would recommend them to anyone in the Gaithersburg area.

I had a great experience with P Lawrence! I had been to several other dress shops in Maryland, and as soon as I walked in to P Lawrence, I felt a totally different vibe. The girls there really care about your wedding and your shopping experience. The 2nd floor bridal salon is an awesome place to try on dresses. Their Maggie Sottero selection is great - I loved almost every dress of hers that I tried on! Ordering the dress was easy, it came in with plenty of time for alterations, and everything was seamless. My bridesmaids also ordered their 4 dresses from P Lawrence. It was our first and only stop for trying on bridesmaid dresses. The girls got a discount since I bought my dress there and we were in and out in an hour. Everything came in fast and correct. Myself and 2 bridesmaids had our alterations done by Lola, who is a lovely person! My dress needed a lot of work because it had a bunch of lace/beading, and it turned out wonderfully. Be patient with alterations because it is a process and you may need to go back for several fittings - but its so worth it for the end product! Altering a dress is a hard job and Lola really knows what she is doing.

I don’t even know where to begin to describe how amazing P Lawrence is. I could honestly write a book on how much I love this place but I want to keep it short and simple so that people will actually read what I have to write.
Not only are their dresses and many accessories beautiful and reasonably priced but their staff is what sets this bridal boutique apart from their competitors. Mein and Dixie were both so amazing to me throughout my entire engagement and helping me get ready for the big day. I spoke with them on a weekly basis which kept me at ease because I ordered everything from them…dress, veil, accessories, bridesmaid dresses, groomsmen tuxedo, and I even bought a tuxedo for the ring bearer.
They truly go above and beyond and it shows because I can’t not stop raving about them. I highly recommend anybody looking for the perfect dress and everything else to complete your wedding day to go to P Lawrence. I plan on continuing to shop at this boutique as they also sell really cute dresses that I could wear to a nice event.

The dresses were beautiful, the prices reasonable and the staff charming. When I picked a dress slightly out of our price range they were willing to make it work. There was a slight mishap, but they made up for it quite adequately - I live out of town and was promised that my dress would be there for my appointment in December (4 months after ordering it), I called to check before the appointment that everything was set and went in to try it on, only to find that it wasn’t there. They were very apologetic and promised to fix things and make up for it. Four days later they had my dress. I think it says something about a dress shop where absolutely nothing goes wrong, but I think it says more when something not entirely in their control goes wrong and they completely make up for it. I would highly recommend P. Lawrence to any bride who wants a stunning dress that comes with exceptional, friendly service in a shop they can completely count on.

My Mom and I went to about 4 different dress stores. We had a tight timeline - dress shopping in the first week of October for a wedding at the end of February. At least 2 of the shops told me I would probably have to buy a sample instead of getting my own new dress. I was not thrilled with that idea.
Not so at P. Lawrence - Dixie and the other sales ladies really helped us. Not only did we find a dress I LOVED (actually we found two and had to narrow it down!), but she called and was able to have the dress arrive about 6 weeks before our wedding, and the rush charge wasn't that bad - $150.
I had a minor "freak out" when I checked on the dress designers website and found out that the dress we had ordered had been discontinued the same week we ordered mine. I was terrified somehow my order didn't get in/they wouldn't make my dress. I e-mailed Dixie, and no problem she called the designer, confirmed they had my order and would be making my dress.
Similar thing happened when my dress was going to take longer than we thought because I needed extra length (I'm 5'11!). Dixie called and was able to get the dress about 2 weeks earlier than the designer had originally told us - very helpful!
They recommended using the alterations shop next door - to have them done quickly (I also didn't need too much since it was a corset dress). Mei took in the bust, and the hips, and fixed the length in 2 weeks for $350 - pretty good in my opinion!
I dropped my dress off at the shop the day after our wedding to get it cleaned and preserved - so easy.
I was always able to get in touch with them via e-mail, the cost of the dress was very reasonable, as were the alterations, and they were helpful all around.

I have nothing but WONDERFUL things to say about P Lawrence!
I started my wedding dress shopping very late int he game- less than 3 months before the actual wedding. I visited a few bridal stores in the area and either wasn't impressed with the selection, or the prices were ridiculous. I'm not the average bride- I had no idea what kind of dress I wanted, but I knew I didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on a dress I'd only be wearing once.
On a whim, my fiance and I decided to go to Kentlands to check out P Lawrence...and this little gem was less than 10 minutes away from our house- who knew!
We showed up about an hour before closing time...shame on me for not making an appointment ahead of time, but like I said, I'm wasn't really familiar with the whole bridal-shopping-protocol, so my fiance and I patiently browsed the selection of bridal dresses, waiting for someone in the store to help us. Finally Mien came in, surprised to see someone in the store so unexpected, but was just so nice with helping us find our dress, despite the fact the store was closing in 45 minutes.
Mien took us upstairs, where I immediately asked if they had a sample rack. And yes they did! I browsed through all of the dresses, tried a few on, but my fiance takes the cake for picking out "the" dress for me to try on....on the rack, it just looked less than overwhelming...but when I tried it on and stepped out onto the podium....hellooo sexy dress! All in all, we found THE dress in less than 30 minutes of shopping, Mien was more than patient with us (and even has the same humor as my quirky fiance- love it!) and I bought the dress that night! And let me tell you,the deal I got on my dress was phenomenal, even including alterations...my dress cost less than most people pay for their wedding cake. Yea, my frugal self was bragging about the price tag to all my friends.
I came back 3 times for dress fittings with their seamstress, Lola, who did a fantastic job with my alterations. She even pointed something out that I didn't realize- that the type of dress I had had the type of material that's able to be dyed and turned into a formal dress, so you can guess what I'll be doing with my dress after the wedding-hoopla settles down.
All in all, I received nothing but amazing, wonderful compliments on my dress during and after my wedding. Many of my newly-engaged friends demanded to know where I purchased my dress- and I told them all to check out P Lawrence before they go to any other bridal stores. This store seriously rocks, and thank you to ALL the girls who work there for making my dress-shopping experience stress free and something to remember forever!

I had an excellent experience here. My Mom came in from Colorado (I love in the DC area) to visit for a week and have me try on dresses. We went to at least 10 different shops in a week, including David's Bridal and a few in Georgetown--Carine's and Hitched. This is the last store we went to. My experience at P Lawrence was far and away the best. I was the only person they were helping that afternoon. Angela was the main person there. I was pretty sure I had found "the dress" at another store, but it was a Maggie Sottero and I wanted to make sure that I didn't like another Maggie Sottero dress better. I also wasn't very happy with the customer service at the other store, and they didn't let me take photos. Angela helped me try on multiple dresses, and did all the corseting so my Mom could just sit there and help evaluate and take pictures. The 2nd floor where they do the initial dress fitting has beautiful natural light, big mirrors, and pedestals for you to stand on so you can see how the train will look in heels. They schedule an hour and half for their fittings instead of the hour or 45 minutes that other places give you. Angela definitely helped me decide that the Jessica dress was the one, saying if I kept thinking about it when I was trying on other dresses, then it was the one! She was right. I got SO many compliments on my dress. The shimmer of the hand-sewn beads was so beautiful, and the alterations and bustle made it fit so perfectly on me. People were floored when we did our dancing and during the ceremony. I highly recommend P Lawrence!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. It is the perfect place for a mother daughter wedding dress shopping experience and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. They were a ble to turn my size 12 A-line sample dress into a size 2 trumpet gown since it was too late for me to order the size needed from the designer. They were a joy to work with and I highly recommend them for anyone who would like a special dress shopping experience. And my dress turned out AMAZING!!!

I can't say enough great things about P Lawrence - it could be because my wedding guests couldn't say enough great things about how amazing everything I bought from there looked, but it's much more likely the result of my fantastic experience with the people there over the months leading up to the wedding! Let me start from the beginning...
Prior to my trip to P Lawrence, I went to several stores where the people were either pushy, arrogant, or rushed with me. The ladies at P Lawrence -- Dixie, Mien, Angela, to name a few -- were anything but! In addition to the best people, P Lawrence also has some of the best dresses in the DC area - this is because it is one of the few, if not the only store in the area, to carry the Jim Hjelm line of dresses.
I knew from the moment I tried on one of the Jim Hjelm dresses there, that was the look I wanted....but it wasn't the price I wanted....Well, Dixie worked magic and brought the price of the dress down to a much more comfortable range for me. She did the same for the Jim Hjelm bridesmaid dresses I bought there, as well as for the veil and headpiece I bought there, too!
The ladies at P Lawrence worked with me to pick out the perfect type of veil (ended up going with a unique bird cage one!) and managed to track down a tiara made with yellow gold, which I was having a very hard time doing in an age of white gold and platinum colored bridal accessories!
The bridesmaid dresses and my wedding gown needed minor alterations, and it was obvious that the seamstresses assigned to work on the dresses were very familiar with the design and fabric. The bridesmaid dresses were perfectly altered in one try! As for my dress, the seamstress sewed in a Victoria Secret bra for perfect support and appearance! She also creatively used some extra fabric taken off of one part of the dress and used it in another part of dress to give me more coverage at the cleavage! She was happy to raise the bustle when it seemed to low after the first fitting!
In sum, P Lawrence is 100% worth the car ride to the suburbs from DC! I got the dress of my dreams and the most wonderful pictures and memories to last a lifetime! Thank you so much, P Lawrence!!

I had a wonderful experience at P. Lawrence. I purchased my wedding gown and three hostess dresses from their shop. Dixie was my sale consultant and did an excellent job. She was very personable and patient and didn't push a dress on me just to make a sale. Very refreshing! I found a dress that was flattering and it came in plenty of time for the wedding. The seamstress, Lola was great to work with and she made my dress fit perfectly. I also had her make alterations to my mother's dress. Everyone in the shop went above and beyond, making my wedding dress experience non-stressful.

Buying a dress was a pleasant experience. They were patient, positive, and even let us take pictures.
Getting alterations, on the other hand, was an absolutely horrible experience. They made me feel extremely alienated when I brought up concerns. The seamstress refused to acknowledge that there was anything wrong and repeatedly botched up the alterations. I ended up taking my dress to another seamstress at the last minute to get everything redone. DO NOT GET YOUR DRESS ALTERED HERE!

I had little time left before the wedding and still no dress... my mom found this store online and we went in for an appt. Beth helped me mostly and she was SO patient - I had no idea what I was looking for really and I felt ALL wedding dresses looked beautiful. She spent so much time with me helping me narrow down a style and I finally found the one - it is gorgeous :) More than I wanted to spend and I'm sure I could have negotiated better, but oh well... time was not on my side. Dixie and Angela were very sweet and helpful as well. I really felt very comfortable and taken care of each time I visited. Lola made a few alterations including hem/bustle and she was great. I would definitely recommend other bride-to-be's to visit this place. Selection and Service = A

Shopping, and buy my dress was great. Beth did a great job helping us out. We did have some problems after the dress was purchased.
There are two people doing alterations, one charges significantly more than the other. When we bought the dress we were "guaranteed" the less expensive alterations. When the time came for alterations the estimate was not honored. The alternations were perfect, but the whole process was disappointing.
We then when had some problems when we went to pick the dress up before the wedding. We were scheduled to pick the dress and veil up at lunch time on Wed. When we got over to the shop the veil had not been steamed. We were then told that we would have to wait until Thursday evening or Friday to get the veil. After ten minutes worth of "discussion" we left the store without the veil. Thankfully we received a phone call twenty minutes later to let us know they found a steamer. We were able to pick the veil up before they closed on Wed. It was all a little much to be dealing with three days before the wedding.

I tried on probably close to 100 gowns in 4 different states before I found my wedding dress. Angela at P. Lawrence was absolutely wonderful - she actually chose the gown for me to try on. I came back twice more before I purchased it, but I ended up being really happy with it - it was perfect for the location. Angela didn't seem to mind that I was usually way late for my appointments and came back 3 different times to try on the same dress. She was also really helpful in getting me a swatch and a few yards of the lace on the dress for my mom to make a veil out of. They carry lots of Maggie Sottero gowns, reasonably affordable and beautiful. The sample sizes were a bit too small for me, but Angela was very helpful in getting me into them so I could get an idea for how it would look. Also, she didn't insist on standing in the dressing room with me while I put on the gown, but made herself available for lacing up the back - it's weird how some other sales people want to be all up in your business. Anyways, great experience, definitely recommend.

I was very pleased with everything at P.Lawrence. Everyone was extremely helpful and accommodating (I stopped by several times with various people before purchasing it and they never batted an eye!). The seamstress they recommended was pricey, but worth every penny! She was phenomenal and was able to completely take apart my dress, make the alternations needed to take it down almost a full size on the bottom and put it back together without a stitch out of place. We also added straps to the dress which looked like they had always been a part of the design. Overall, it was a fun experience working with the staff at P. Lawrence and I would definitely recommend them.
GUEST

We were very disappointed in the services provided by this bridal shop. The dress prices were reasonable but the alterations were very costly --$175 for a bridesmaid dress that cost $240. The alterations were not performed timely nor were they done properly. The store did not measure the bridesmaids correctly so one of the dresses was not a "tall" when it should have been. No offer to correct any of the problems was offered by the store management nor did they follow up to ensure the alterations were performed properly. Would never use this store again and would not recommend it to anyone.
GUEST

I was misquoted the price of my dress and the alterations, however the staff is extremely friendly, helpful, and accommodating so that made it manageable to me. My dress (a Maggie Sottero) was beautiful and everyone at the wedding loved it and asked me where I got it. P. Lawrence didn't have the dress I wanted to try on, but instead ordered for me no-strings-attached to use as a display dress. I wound up ordering it anyway because I really liked it, but it was nice to not have that pressure. My other minor complaint is that the seamstress did not listen to me. I asked to have the straps sewn onto my dress instead of leaving the snaps in place and she didn't do it (after I asked twice on two different visits) and they ended up popping off every time I hugged someone. Be direct with the seamstress if you have your gown altered in the shop.
GUEST

I really enjoyed working with P Lawrence. Beth gave me a great price for an off-the-rack Maggie S. dress and everyone at the wedding could not believe how beautiful the dress was. I myself couldn't get over it either...I wish I could wear that dress every day now! My only complaint is the alterations seemed to be really expensive but I could be wrong. My dress had a lot of detail and she did do a great job. My dress fit me like a glove and I didn't even have to wear any crazy undergarments to hold things in and squeeze things this way and that way so she knew what she was doing, for sure. I recommend using them if you have a little room in your budget. If you want to splurge on anything, it's the dress because you have to wear it ALL DAY and you really need to feel pretty yet be comfortable. The staff was all really friendly and accomodating when I was there for my fittings, etc.
GUEST

I LOVE MY DRESS!!!!!!!!!! The alterations were a little high but well done. All the ladies at the shop were VERY nice and helpful! I also got my maid of honors' dress there and it was beautiful.
GUEST

I found my dress here after going to 6 other shops. They had a lot of dresses in a range of prices. They have a lot of Maggie dresses, which I loved. I worked with the shop owner, Beth, and she kept the store open 45 minutes past closing time to work with me. She also found the perfect dress for me once I described a few dresses I was trying to decide between.
However, the alterations were very expensive. And the one button wouldn't snap/fit on my wedding day! (We discovered that at my last fitting - not sure if she fixed it or not or if my size changed in those 3 weeks.) Luckily, it was a corset back, so it made no difference.

I absolutely LOVED my dress. It was a gorgeous Maggie Sottero that I purchased from P Lawrence. I didn't want to go to a fancy shamncy bridal boutique and I just wanted to go to David's bridal. However, once I went and found this dress I fell in love. I felt guilty about the cost, but after comparing to the dresses at David's Bridal there was no going back. (Please note that this is not a stab at David's Bridal. It is jus that I have some major curves and the structure of the Maggie dress REALLY held everyhing in!) However, one thing I was surprised at was that when I sent away to get the dress cleaned I took a look at the material and was SHOCKED to see that it was 100% POLYESTER. I should have checked that before and that is my fault. And the dress was absolutely beautiful but still I could not believe I paid 3,000 for a polyester dress (and over 400 and alterations). Still the staff at P Lawrence was so nice and works hard to find you the best dress for you.
GUEST

I had a horrible experience at this bridal salon. I went in expecting that you go to a bridal salon so they can tell you what size you should order etc and that did not happen. Without too much detail my dress came in unfixable and they scrambled to get me a new one which then only came in 1 month before my wedding and still didn't fit correctly. The seamstress Lola that works here is AMAZING and I would recommend her to anyone. Myabe it was jsut me but it seems to me that you're going there for professionals to help you otherwise you could jsut order your dress online technically??
GUEST

wonderful, wonderful, wonderful experience.
Elise was great to work with, the store is so beautiful and I selected the 3rd dress I tried on. They had lots of gowns of different price ranges and the bridal salon upstairs is absolutely beautiful and boutique-like. You'll definitely get into the wedding spirit at this store and feel like a princess!

Loved working with the girls at P Lawrence! They made the day of trying on dresses with my mom so special! The alterations were completed quickly and done beautifully!!
GUEST

I loved P. Lawrence and working with Jeannie! My dress was fabulous. I went back several times because I was trying to decide between two and they were always really accomodating. There were some issues in that they had my phone number wrong (so couldn't call me when a dress I came in to try on was bought off the rack), my wedding date was incorrect so I ended up ordering my dress way earlier than I needed to, and some other communication issues. However in the end my dress was correct, gorgeous, and perfect! I took it elsewhere for alterations because I found it to be way more expensive to have them done at the shop.
GUEST

P. Lawrence was wonderful! After looking a 4 or 5 other wedding shops, a friend recommend them and I am so glad! Elise - and the entire staff - were absolutely terrific. Very helpful, sweet and honest about how I looked in all the dresses. As an "older brider" I was very self-conscious about not wanting a dress that was too "princessey" or too "young" for me and with Elise's expert help we found the perfect one! I loved it and was highly complimented on it by everyone (especially my husband!). They were extrenely responsiveness - especially as the wedding was only a few weeks away and they had to put a rush on it...they called with updates and took away a lot of the pre-wedding stress by being thoughtful, caring and on top of everything. They recommended I use one of their seamstresses but, alas, failed to tell me just how expensive that would be. While she was quite good - and did a good job on the dress, the bustle undid twice during the reception and my wedding planner had to sew it up quickly at one point. And the fact that the alterations cost 1/3 of the dress just didn't sit that well with me. That aside - P. Lawrence was amazing and I would highly recommend them to all. Just next time, Elise, be clear about how much the alterations - with you - will cost so that the customer can have some time to make alternate plans...Thanks P. Lawrence!

I love P Lawrence and it's staff!! I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for great service and personalized attention. I looked forward to each of my visits and the cost just can't be beat in the Washington, DC area. Lolla is amazing in the alteration department as well. I love them and love my dress!!

Of all the places I visited, this salon was the most helpful and friendly. My mother lives out of state, and my mother-in-law had some serious health issues, so I went looking for dresses ahead of time. I wanted to figure out which salons had dresses that I wanted to show the two moms when they were able to go dress shopping with me. This was the ONLY salon that didn't try to pressure me into ordering a dress before the two moms were able to come with me. They recommended different styles for me to try on, but never lost sight of what I said I wanted or imagined. I found the perfect dress for our garden wedding, and I even enjoyed the search for the dress at P. Lawrence (this is saying a lot considering that I'm one of the few women that hates to shop).

I planned my wedding in 3 1/2 months. you can buy any dress here off the rack (brand new!) and the sells women don't rush you because of a deadline.

Working with Elysse was such a breeze! I had not anticipated purchasing my wedding gown from a full-service salon but Elysse completely made me feel at home. Unlike other salons, Elysse allowed us to CHOOSE what my party and I liked instead of having a sales associate select for us. After 2 hours of trying on dresses and adjusting crinoline Elysse was still going, willing to take on the next challenge I through her way! When I mentioned that the dress I wanted was a little out of my budget Elysse was able to have the owner give us a deal if we purchased through them. I enjoyed the experience so much I even bought my shoes there as well.
The only issue I had with the salon was with one of the seamstresses they contract with. She was pricey but I was assured that her work was flawless. I had difficulty making appointments with her and I was warned ahead of time that sometimes she can be overbearing. I put all these things aside due to her reputation as a great seamstress, believing that her work was worth the hassle. However, on the day of the wedding as my MOH was attempting the bustle, the button simply came apart from the stitching and my mother had to repair the bustle with needle and thread.
If I were to go back to P Lawrence salon I would definitely work with Elysse again but I would probably find an independent seamstress to do alterations. Overall, my experience with purchasing and wearing my wedding dress was a great one!

I have and will continue to recommend P. Lawrence to any bride. The selection is amazing and the service is even better. P. Lawrence is the first bridal shop I visited, and while I was there, I fell in love with my wedding dress and the staff. I could not bring myself to go to another shop after I experienced the first class service P. Lawrence had to offer.
GUEST

P.Lawrence was my first stop in dress hunting - I had no intentions of buying a dress at the first shop I stoped at, but after the exceptional service I recieved that day and the decent price I ended up buying one of the dresses I tried on most importantly I was never disapointed. I ordered both my dress through P.Lawrence as well as all 6 of my bridesmaids. The only thing I would not recommend is getting your dresses altered through there in house seamstress's. Other then that the shop the owner and the employees did everything possiable to make sure that me and my girls looked amazing on my wedding day.
GUEST

I bought a Maggy Sottera dress stright from the shelf. The dress was very beautiful, and all the guests noted how beautiful I look and how well the dress suits me. However, I needed some minor alterations and the store recommended their own seamstress. These minor alterations eneded up to be half of the dress price, which was not cheap at all. Thus even though I enjoyed the dress and would highly recommend to look for the bridal gowns at this store, I would not recommend to use their seamstress services, I thin kfinding somebody on my own would cast me twice less.
GUEST

I didn't purchase the bridal gown at P Lawrence, but I did get it altered with their alterations person. The gown was 4 sizes too big and had lots of beading and I had to have it drastically altered down to my size. The alterations person took on the challenge and did a great job. There were a lot of beads that needed replacing or tightening and most of them were fixed for a fee. I had to get them to fix a few more that they had missed. They do a good job, but give yourself plently of time before the wedding to go for fittings and such. Typically, it would have been simpler if the dress hadn't been so big on me. I'm sure dresses that are closer in size are no problem. Regardless, they did a good job. It was expensive, maybe too much so but I wanted good results so I was willing not to skim on price.
GUEST

MaryAnn was the best at helping me find the dress. She knew the various designers and was very patient with me. She also made some suggestions of different dresses that she thought suited me and allowed me to try on practically every dress possible, regardless of how it would look on me. She no longer works there but she was the best.
They also had a pretty good pricing for getting the dress cleaned and preserved.
GUEST

The shop is great, the service personalized, and everyone is sincerely helpful. This was about the 11th store I went to, and it was worth the wait!
GUEST

This was by far the best dress salon in Maryland (we went to all of them). The owner is so sweet and helpful, not pushy, and we felt totally comfortable with her in our one-on-one experience. The dress was beautiful, and they stored it nicely until I needed it.
The alterations were really expensive and took forever, although they took the dress from a size 14 to a 6. It took about 5 months to get it right.
Overall, a wonderful experience.

Very friendly staff & beautiful dresses!

I lived out of state at the time and only had one weekend in town to find my dress. I crammed 4 shops into a Saturday and P. Lawrence was gracious enough to open up the shop by special appointment for me on that Sunday. We spent 4 hours there! She was wonderful. After trying many dresses on and listening to what I liked and didn't like about each one, she found "one more" for me that she wanted me to try. It ended up being the one that we bought. Throughout the whole process, from shopping to alterations, everyone there was wonderful. I recommend them to everyone I know in the area that needs to dress shop.
GUEST

Wonderful! Great dress, and great to work with. Definitely recommend!
GUEST

The personalized attention and beautiful gowns were unparalleled at this boutique. I went to many upscale bridal salons and none could rival P. Lawrence.

Beautiful dresses on any budget. Will not try to sell you a dress that is not perfect for you. Excellent alteration services.
GUEST

I loved working with P Lawrence. My dress was perfect and the help was very professional and friendly.

They provided such friendly and warm service that if I still lived in the area, I’d definitely use them for all future formal events. I loved Peter, the owner, and the entire staff was always very professional and excited for me. Great service, delivered on time (earlier than anyone else could - I was a two dress bride and so needed this gown on shorter notice), AND matched the price of one of the discount services! Highly recommended.
We send our brides to PLawrence for a true boutique atelier experience. Every bride deserves to visit them!
