Reviews for Pearl's Place
After reading all the PW & Knot reviews and also having a good GF order from them - I knew I would order from them. I placed the order before Xmas and just got them this past weekend. The delievery was quick and I was one happy customer. I love my Bill Levkoff 551 - champagne/ivory dresses for my BMs.
Plus the price was right. I saved some $$ by going with Pearl's Place compared to local bridal salons I've been to.
Pearls Place is located in Louisiana and I was worried that Katrina would have wiped them out, but just checked their site and they are going strong. Lousiana?!!!, you ask? Well, here’s the thing. There are only about 2 reputable places to get your bridesmaids dresses for cheap on the internet, pearls place and www.netbride.com. I went to Pearls place because there was always a live person to talk to me. With netbride, I know lots of brides have praise for them, but I couldn’t deal with the whole email thing all the time. Plus, the response time was not as good as Pearl’s Place.
What you need to do is go to a salon like House of Fashion in Sacramento, or Trudy’s in Campbell. Look through all the dresses and try on the one you like. Make sure you write down the name of the dress and the color you like (sometimes places will not tell you b/c they are tricky like that). Then you have to go online and search for the dress, color, and style. Then, you have to call Pearls Place or Netbride and tell them what you want. They will send you a fitting chart and you can go ahead and send it to your bridesmaids. Always order up for your girls, as it is easier to alter it that way (I ordered a size 12 for one of my Brides, b/c she was fitted when she was pregnant, and we had to fix it to fit her after the pregnancy, when she got back to her usual size 4 petite self!).
My husband and I are in a position to buy the dresses for our BMs (we also paid for tux rentals) and we thought it would be a nice thing for our bridal party. We have both been in numerous weddings and have NEVER had to pay for our attire, which always made us so happy to be there (b/c we were often dishing out tons of money already for the gift, shower gifts, bachelor/bachelorette party), so this is something to think about if you can do it. If you can swing it, do it. If you can’t, maybe you can subsidize (even 25% of the attire will create goodwill - believe me, you will thank me later. I had a friend who subsidized 50% of the dresses and her girls loved her for it). Also, make sure to pick something that is timeless and contemporary. My BMs loved their dresses and also decided they could wear the dresses again. AND IMPORTANTLY, make sure the dress is not too expensive. Consider the economic situation of your girls. If you go with Vera Wang or Watters and Watters, or some other fancy schmancy dress, you may be putting them out (esp. if they have kids or are students). So that is the truth. And there. I said it. For all the girls who have ever resented being a bridesmaid b/c they felt put out, I have spoken on your behalf. I have had too many friends and loved ones complain to me about this sticky situation, so I avoided the entire situation by buying the dresses, paying for them, and getting something inexpensive AND CUTE! Think of it this way - it is your special day and your loved ones will do so much for you, but if you are creating a hardship for them, and don’t realize it, you may end with several less friends after your wedding (yes, this has happened to some of my friends). It’s not worth it. I can happily report that I am good friends with all of my BMs. I love them too much to put them out! YES, there are cute and inexpensive dresses out there. I did it, and I’m sure you can too.
Anyway, where was I? I digress. Oh yes, after all your girls get measured, you can go ahead and order your dresses. Both Netbride and Pearls place will send it to you as soon as they are ordered and WITHOUT TAX! That is the best part. BUT, here’s the catch, you need to order about 3-5 months ahead. So here are the nitty gritties about the dresses I bought. I bought a Belsoie Jasmine Dress (I forget the style number, but it is in the Fall 2004 collection in Apple Red). I bought five of them for $113 each (that is including shipping and tax). My mom did the alterations so there were no other costs. As a comparison, the dresses cost about $200 (after tax, and that’s not including alterations) at House of Fashion in Sacramento. I saved 50% on the dresses! Woo Hoo.
Finally, as for the shoes, since I bought the dresses, my BMs bought their own shoes. We all decided on a pair that was available at Nordstrom for about $40. I’d recommend Nordstrom for BM shoes. Lots of colors and styles.
I placed an order with Pearls Place because RK Bridal said they would charge me for a rush cut. PS--Pearls Place had the dress to me within 2 weeks! I loved it!
Very fast shipping and pleasant customer service.
i went to marylynn's in pasadena and fell in love with a Paloma Blanca dress that they were charging $1700 for + tax. i asked them to measure me for my size, then i went home and called up Pearls Place and got it for $1100!!! and shipping was only like $12 and NO TAX!! the dress was scheduled to arrive in 8 weeks but came in 6! :) only thing, which is not Pearl's Place's fault is that marylynn's actually sized me wrong, so the dress was over a size too big. i heard salons do that on purpose so that you have to pay for alterations. so make sure you get sized correctly. but better too big and take in than too small and let out. :)
After doing plenty of research on Pearl's Place I decided to go for it and get some of the bridal party's dresses from here. I am glad I did because I saved myself a lot of money since I wanted to buy them their dresses. We already received the dresses and they are beautiful and in oerfect consition and what's best they are 40% off! I definitely recommend them! If I could give them more then 5 starts I would!
Easy to work with and all the dresses arrived to the four separate addresses with no problem. The designer is Dessy, style #2018 in Cotton Candy. My hubby had a groomsmaid and she wore the same dress as my girls but in black.
I was a little concerned about ordering the dresses online. I did a lot of research and pricing before I ordered. Pearl’s Place beat all other places I contacted, even the one that says it will beat by 5%. They wouldn’t beat Pearl’s prices. The bridesmaid dresses were 175-190 in the stores they paid 90. My dress was 800 in most stores and I paid 500. Quite the money saver!
I ordered the dresses Jan. 2nd and had the girls dresses by the end of Feb. They were in perfect condition, and exactly what I ordered. My dress came in, in May a month earlier then I was told. Again, it was perfect.
I definitely recommend Pearl’s Place to all of you looking to save money!
I found my dress at a local store but according to the bridal bargain book, could find it for cheaper since it was out of my budget. I asked for a quote and they sent me one from a store in New Orleans. I asked the place I tried it on at if they would match it and after a near sabotage and definite no, long story short, I went ahead and put my faith in a phone order for the place in New Orleans. I received it a month before expected, in perfect new condition and couldn't have been happier! It was over $200 less and still the same gown, same designer.
The dresses came in 6 weeks, in the right sizes and colors, and they were so inexpensive. My BM’s saved about 33% on their dresses, which made them under $100 each. I definitely recommend using Pearl’s Place for your dresses.
BM Dresses: Vera Wang
I paid for the BM dresses so I ordered the dresses from Pearl's Place because of the great price on the Vera Wang dresses. They unfortunately did not come in when they said they would. I had to call a few times and never got a real answer as to why they hadn't come in yet. They finally came a few weeks later but with the wrong color sash. I called them about it and they were very apologetic and said Vera Wang was sending them out within a few days. A few weeks later I still hadn't received the sashes so I called them again. I finally received them within a few days. The dresses were perfectly fine, but just late. I think there were problems with Vera Wang, but they should have been more on top of it.
I highly recommend Pearl's Place. I ordered my dress for almost half off what the bridal store around the corner was going to charge me! Just make sure that you know exactly what you want before you order...they aren't that good at keeping track of order changes. I also had a mini freak out when I received the dress thinking they had made it with white lace instead of ivory. I talked to someone on the phone that was soooo sweet. They really do care about your order over all :)
I had an excellent experience with Pearl's Place. I ordered both my wedding gown and my seven BM dresses through Pearl's Place. My dress (Maggie Sottero "Cleo") took 3 months to arrive. My Watters & Watters BM dresses (#1253) took 1.5 months to arrive. All arrived in perfect condition with no problems. Pricing was significantly better than bridal shops. I saved 42% on my dress, and my BMs saved 38% on their dresses.
I found the perfect dress by Allure Bridal at a bridal salon near my house. I called a few places to see if I could find a lower price, and Pearl's came highly recommended. I tried to bargain with the shop by my house, but they couldn't come close to Pearl's price, even if they sold me the sample. I ended up ordering from Pearls, and received my dress 4 months later - right on time! The dress quality was beautiful. I received many compliments on it, and I loved that it wasn't a popular dress. It was heavy, but you can't avoid that when it's beaded. I loved that it had a corset built in so I didn't need to wear a long line bra. I didn't need alterations, just a one button bustle that was done by a local seamstress. I saved around 40% by ordering from Pearls!
Same situation as my dress - we found this at a local bridal shop. SInce I was so pleased with the prices at Pearl's Place, i called and got a quote for the girl's dresses. Again, they were the lowest I could find, so I ordered from there. They came in a month early, too! The dresses were nicely made. The tissue taffeta material was beautiful!
We ordered all the dresses from Pearl’s Place and the girls saved a lot of $$!. It was very fast too—I ordered them in October and we had them by January. I highly recommend if you use them, to make sure everyone is properly measured, because you are on your own for that part.
I ordered my dress and my MOH’s dress from Pearl’s. I had my dress in a month and a half and I had my MOH’s dress in 3 months. Both dresses arrived far earlier then expected and were in perfect condition. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to save some money.
This online vendor is fabulous! If you find a dress you like online or at another store, you can call them with the style and designer name and they will give you a price quote. They are significantly cheaper than most stores. Local stores wanted $180-190 for the bridesmaid dresses I chose and Pearl’s Place charged $88-$96 each plus $12 shipping per location. The dresses also arrived a little faster than expected.
I know people have complained about rude phone people, but I got a nice one. I had them shipped to my work address and they came in 2 months. They were beautiful with original tags.
The customer service was definitely lacking, but I did get my dress at a great price. Just keep in mind that you shouldn't expect much from the staff.
I ordered my Casablanca 1816 wedding dress from Pearls Place and it was great! I saved about $600 and the service was wonderful- the dress came in about 3 weeks before the estimated date. My bridesmaids ordered all of their dresses from there and everyone was thrilled!
They have incredible retail and shipping prices, and their staff is great to work with. When I called, they were able to help me understand where the lengths of the dresses would fall on the girls and how the designer’s sizing worked. I was able to find Jim Hjelm Dresses for my girls for about $60 less then they were selling in local stores. In addition, they are quick. The girls received their dresses one month ahead of schedule. I was very pleased with the quality and was happy that I ordered from an online store.
We used Pearl's place to buy the BM dresses. We saved about $30 per dress. Shipping was very reasonable, only $12 if all the dresses are shipped to the same place. And they were very fast. All brick and mortar stores wanted me to put a rush on the dresses, since we ordered them so late. But Pearl's Place was able to get them to us on time, they actually arrived about a week earlier than we expected.
One word of wisdom to brides buying dresses online: if possible, have your girls try the dresses on at a bridal salon before ordering. Even though we followed the Bill Levkoff sizing charts, a few of the dresses were huge on the girls.
I found my dress at a smaller bridal shop in Baton Rouge first but then located it at Pearl's Place in New Orleans, LA for several hundred dollars cheaper, including free alterations and steaming. The sales associates are very helpful and aren't too persuasive because they don't receive commission. The selection of dresses is the best I've seen in south Louisiana. I recommend going on a weekday or getting there 15 minutes before they open on Saturday to beat the crowds.
This was one of my favorite wedding vendors. My girls tried on dresses locally and fell in love with a Dessy After Six style for $210. They also wanted to have a sash made so we needed to order extra fabric. If we would have ordered through the bridal shop, it would have been about $250 per girl.
I found the dresses at pearl's place for $129 and was able to order the extra fabric through them, too. By the time we added everything up and included shipping, the cost came to about $145 per girl, so each of them saved about $100.
All of the dresses came in the correct sizes, about a month early. The extra fabric came perfectly too.
After my experience with Pearl's Place, I think people who buy their BM dresses at bridal stores are nuts!
No complaints. Our Jasmine B2 bridesmaid dresses came in in 3 months, exactly how long they told me they would. We saved over $60 per dress and the sizing chart they provided was very accurate. Only 1 bridesmaid needed alterations.
We ordered all of our BM's dresses from here. All of the dresses were shipped within about 4 weeks of ordering which was much sooner than expected. We were thrilled with this! Definitely a great way to save money. Highly recommended!
I bought my Nicole Miller dress through Pearl's Place and it came within 3 weeks of me ordering it at a $500 discount. It was so easy and I can't think of a single reason not to use them to get your dress. All I would recommend is trying on the dress you want ahead of time so that you have an accurate sense of what size you need. It's not really worth e-mailing them for anything, just call, as that's what they ask you to do when you e-mail. Also, they don't seem to have any voicemail and once when I called it just kept ringing and ringing. Just call back at another time or day to reach them. It's so worth it!!!
LOVE THEM!!! Our wedding coordinator told me about this place and we saved over $700 on our bridesmaid dresses and I save about $300 on my dress. Such great savings!
I chose Pearl's Place as my Bridal Shop. They may get VERY BUSY at times but these ladies (and gentlemen) are EXTREMELY experienced in what they do. They let you try on many dresses and even try their best to make you feel comfortable ion what your buying.
