Frank and his team did an amazing job on our wedding photos. My husband and I wanted prints that would allow us to remember all aspects of our wedding for a lifetime, and Frank delivered! This is a professional team who knows their stuff. Our wedding was at 7:00pm, outside and we feared getting dark pictures. This did not happen. Can you make that rating 10.0? The tremendous work by Frank and his associates is one of the main reasons why we could find no appropriate word to describe the wedding of my daughter, Erin, and Jon Maggart at the Oaks near St. Michael's, Maryland. We coined a new word, "awerrific" (a rare combination of awesome and terrific; completely flawless; more than perfect) to describe the day. The more than 1,200 images and video were indeed "awerrific." Frank Formica is a great technical photographer and an even better visual story teller. He's also a very nice guy.

Frank Formica is extraordinary at what he does. He is an amazing photographer. Once I saw his work I knew that I had to book him! My wedding pictures and engagement pictures were amazing. I received multiple comments on how great my photographers were. Frank also designed my guest book which was gorgeous and guests loved. Frank was also very responsive to all my emails and phone calls. He was a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend him and hope to do another photo shoot when my husband gets back from Afghanistan.

Frank and his team did an amazing job at photographing my wedding at the Kent Manor Inn in June 2011. The photos are immaculate, extremely professional and artistic. Let me first start by saying that the word "photographer"does not begin to properly describe Frank Formica and his crew. They are brilliant artists!
I found Formica Photography online in a desperate search to find a photographer who knew how to work on the Naval Academy grounds. After a complete disaster with the original photographer I selected for engagement and wedding pictures it was extremely important to me that I find the right photographer for the wedding day.
After my initial email to Frank he contacted me within the hour to inform me that he was available for my wedding day and could set up an appointment to meet with me that week.
After viewing his studio and the other marvelous reviews by past clients I was completely sold. Throughout the next months Frank not only put together a wonderful Guest Book for the wedding, but also helped me restore some old family photographs for my display at the wedding.
Additionally, he happily assisted me in getting a photograph print made of me and my fiance' just two days before our wedding so that I would have it for our photo table. On top of this, he gave us the 8x10 print free of charge. During all the stress of planning my wedding Frank was simply the best to work with. He answered any and all questions I had in a very timely manner and made sure I felt calm and at ease on my wedding day. For the whole wedding day we had two marvelous photographers and I am still in awe of the outstanding work they have done.
I have not yet chosen the photos for the wedding album but I am completely confident that once it is done, I will once again be blown by the amazing quality and artistic talent.
To any brides who are trying to select a photographer, (not only for Naval Academy weddings but ANYONE!), I cannot write a recommendation that that would properly describe Frank's talent. For me, photography was the most important element to my wedding and after experiencing the horrific quality of service and product from my first "budget photographer" I can tell you that Frank and his team are worth every single penny.

Frank did a wonderful job with our wedding photos! Our wedding was a destination wedding and Frank made the planning process very easy. He was very prompt with correspondence and answered all our questions in a timely manner. On our wedding day, there was heavy rain which worried us, but Frank called that morning and reassured us that there would be no problem with the photos. The day went by smoothly and the photos were beautiful. We enjoyed working with Frank and Glen and appreciated their help on our wedding day. Thanks for a great experience!!

10 out of 10 times, I would hire Frank again. He’s not just a photographer but an artist. His assistant for the day, Glenn, was also fabulous.

They were at the church late morning and with us until after the reception ended, late at night. Frank sent me the photos just days after the wedding and I cant stop looking at them. I cant believe the photos are untouched and look so perfect.

Frank is amazing and you can 100% feel confident that he’s reliable, knowledgeable, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, you will get the most amazing wedding pictures. (Don’t let his sometimes eccentric personality turn you away – you ll miss out on the most amazing photos ever!)

Frank was absolutely amazing, from our engagement session all the way up to the wedding. All of our photos look great and they were available to view the day after the wedding. I have had friends wait months with other photographers. Frank was also very flexible in creating a package that fit the needs of me and my family. Our custom guest book that he created for us was a huge hit at the wedding and I would definitely recommend it for something that is truly unique. I couldn't have asked for better wedding pictures, as every moment of the day was captured on film.

Frank and Glen did an excellent job photographing my wedding at the Naval Academy. I worked with Frank for my engagement pictures and he was efficient and did an awesome job. He knew exactly where to go and what to do to get great photographs. He was very flexible rescheduling engagement sessions a few times because of the weather. Frank was my choice for my wedding photographer because he is an expert at Naval Academy weddings. He caught every moment of the day and all of the pictures were amazing. I never felt rushed or tired of taking pictures because there was no waiting around for him to figure out what he was doing. He was very quick in getting the photographs to me as well. My dad even commented on how great he was so you know Frank was good. Everyone loves the pictures and Frank's work. I would recommend him to any bride!

Frank Formica is the consummate professional. Although he was not feeling well the actual day of the wedding, he came w an extra photographer and supervised the photo shoot. We kept telling him to go home!!! as the crew with him was exemplary. We all had a good time and the crew blended in with the crowd at the reception and took some great shots. We have fantastic memories of a wonderful day, but more importantly we have our fantastic photos. Thanks, Frank.

First of all, the photos were gorgeous. I couldn't be more pleased with the finished product. Secondly, Frank and his crew were extremely flexible the day of the wedding as the bride and bridal party were an hour late to their portion of the pre-ceremony shoot. Not only did Frank get all the necessary shots in the condensed period of time but he did an excellent job of calming the bride's nerves and putting her at ease over being so late. He was a joy to work with throughout the day and evening, getting the job done but never being instrusive. He always seemed to be in the right place at the right time for just the right shot. There is no other choice when hiring a photographer to shoot a Naval Academy wedding! Choose Frank and you won't be disappointed.

Frank's pictures are fantastic. Before selecting a photographer I went to local photo shop and asked who would they select for their wedding and they said "Frank was pricy but great". When we selected our baker for the wedding cake I asked who took the pictures of her cakes as they were wonderful and she said "Frank Formica". We have not yet put the wedding album together but his proofs are awesome. He and his assistant photographed the rehearsal dinner, the wedding at St. Martin's Lutheran church and the reception at Kent Manor Inn's Garden House. We have some incredible pictures to select from!!!!

I can not express how wonderful it was working with Frank and his team of professionals. They were amazing from the moment they arrived while I was getting ready to the very end of the reception. The pictures speak for them selves, I have never seen photo's like them anywhere. They really captured every detail and the shots of the sunset at the Chesapeake Bay beach club were breath taken. When looking for a Photographer we interviewed many people trying to find that perfect fit, when you think about it your photographs are really the only memories you have after the Wedding is over. So we made it a point to not sacrifice on them, and we made right the right choice. I am so pleased that I can not stop looking at them. I have no clue how I will pick my favorites, they are all perfect!

Frank and his team were wonderful! They were professional, not overbearing, and flexable. Franks pictures turned out AMAZING! We had him do our engagement photos, he came to the rehersal dinner and wedding. On the wedding day, he arrived at noon, took pictures of me and my girls getting ready, in a garden, on the trolley, church, reception and left at 11:30 pm that night. His crew (he brings 2 men) are phenominal! My picutes are beautiful. Our wedding was at St. Marys in downtown Annapolis. The pictures in the Cathedral are beautiful. He brings lighting. I interviewed many photograhers and he was the only one that could capture the beauty of St. Marys's. He also took wedding picutures on the beach at sunset that are unbelivable. He does a great mix of posed and candid. The candid pics are my favorite. He took over 7000 pictures of my wedding. He didn't miss a moment, smile or tear. We also used his classic car as the bride and groom transportation. My husband loved it. I am so thankful that i had the opportunity to work with Frank.

Frank and his team were hands-down the best photographers I could have wished for. They were professional, but fun. Prompt, but flexible. Attentive and suggestive, but not overbearing....and the quality of the photos themselves are unmatched. Frank also owns and rents out an old caddy which my husband and I used as our limo service - it too was worth every penny! in short, for our money we received coffee table books for our folks, our wedding album, some 8x10 prints, a CD of pictures set to msic, the rights to our negatives, the car, and nearly 10 hours worth of pictures and film.

Formica Studios is a wonderful and professional company who offers the best photos I've ever seen. They are professional and creative and I heard so many compliments from our wedding party and guests about them. The wedding album was better than I ever could have imagined and I look at it often.

Frank and his staff were wonderful start to finish. They were true professionals, kept everything moving, understood what needed to be done, and listened to our likes and dislikes. He was fast paced, high energy, and great. He and his staff are so much more than wedding photographers. You feel like you�re the star in a real photo shoot. They knew the Naval Academy grounds top to bottom and knew where to get the best pictures. No detail was overlooked. As far as photographers go, he�s on the expensive side but worth every penny. Bargain shop for favors and extras, not your photographer. I got my proofs the next day and my album is the best I�ve ever seen.

When you hire Frank Formica, you are hiring more than a taker of photos, you are hiring a professional artist. Because he was not familiar with our church and our home and the reception site, Frank drove over an hour to meet with us and check out the settings and lighting for himself in advance of the wedding day. When it rained on the wedding day, Frank and the two other photographers he provided, set up a complete studio in our home to capture beautiful (and dry!) photographs. During the ceremony and subsequent events, he used his artist's experienced eye to find fabulous backgrounds and effects. He and his photographers went above and beyond, maintaining their energy and enthusiasm for their work throughout the long day and late into the night!
In less than a week we were looking at hundreds of gorgeous proofs and we can hardly wait to see our version of the products he designs and creates to showcase his superb work and create a legacy of this very special event in our lives.

It is difficult to even begin to express our feelings about the photos
from our daughter's wedding...they are so magnificent! Frank Formica and his team captured Megan's inner beauty and glowing smile in every photo from early morning until late in the evening...The emotions that filled us through the entire experience were at times
overwhelming. As we viewed the photos we were able to relive and reflect on just how special the day was and even got to see some things we missed along the way!

Frank and Glen were amazing! They are both great artists and got a ton of wonderful shots of our wedding...and had them posted online already on Monday morning! Booking with them was easy as well, and everything was seamless coordinating with them. They are a bit expensive, but completely worth it!

We loved working with Frank and his associates. They were so professional and knew the Annapolis area and the United States Naval Academy extremely well. They were fun, relaxed and captured the day perfectly. Our pictures are timeless and very classy. It was important to us that our pictures reflected who we were ( We didn't want trendy poses) and they did! Anyone who is getting married in ANNAPOLIS, MD and on the NAVAL Academy will love working with Frank's team.

The pictures of the bride were especially good and the use of lighting was excellent.

I was truly surprised at the level of prefessionalism amd service I received from Photos by Formica. The CREW was professional...when I say crew, 3 photographers were on site and covering every imaginable angle. I felt very comfortable and relaxed in their presence and so did others. They researched the shots that needed to be taken and took great measure to ensure proper lighting, background and so on. I could not be happier with the results and am really looking forward to the final collaboration of the extremely large volume of pictures taken. I highly recomend Formica not only for the value but most importantly, the quality.

When working with Frank, it was a pleasure and truly provided us with beautiful pictures. The attention to detail and knowledge of the photographers was wonderful. They were enjoyable to work with, as well as unobtrusive. I would use them again for any other photography needs!!

Frank Formica & his team were amazing! Not a single moment of our wedding day was missed. Everyone was extremely friendly, yet unobtrusive. Many of our guests mentioned that they barely noticed their presence at all. Frank definately has strong opinions, but he's been in the business for a long time, and knows what looks good.

The albums that he creates are incredibly beautiful and unique; no need to worry about a cookie-cutter album. I highly recommend this photographer- he is pricey, but the best investment you could make for your wedding day.

Frank is definitely an artist-photographer. You can pick that up from your first meeting with him.

We had a few things that we liked and disliked.
1) He definitely wanted to get the shot right... which we liked because who doesn't want the perfect shot? But sometimes that called for doing the same shot 4 or 5 times. :-)

2) He had some lights he set up in the reception hall that would flash during the reception so that you could actually see everyone's faces instead of dark smear of eyeballs. This was awesome in a number of places, like our first dance, dancing with parents, the blessing, and the cake cutting. But, all of the photos from the rest of the reception make our wedding look like it was in the middle of the afternoon... and we're all boozing it up and dancing like maniacs at 2pm. :-) FYI: The flashes weren't a bother at all, I hardly noticed them.

3) Unique lenses: They had some lenses that would curve the edge of the pictures and put some cool shapes to things. But, for group shots at the reception they made people's heads weird shapes and made some people look fat and short. We won't print those pictures out.

4) In hindsight I wish I had put a list of "must take" pictures together. Its definitely my fault, but I wish he had reminded me to do it. My mom was disappointed that I didn't have any pictures of just her and me. And I didn't have any pictures with one of my brothers. Again, that's totally my fault.

5) as with any wedding vendor, keep everything in writing. I think Frank has a lot of business, and when I emailed to ask him for the digital images he came back with a price. I emailed him back with a copy of the contract showing him that I had already paid for it, and he was like "Oh Yah, I'll have them in the mail today". So, it wasn't a headache at all, but I was glad I kept all of the documentation.

Frank was great, and very talented. I can tell a difference between his shots and his assistant's shots. But his assistant also had a talent at making you comfortable. So the assistant would make me smile, and Frank would be there to snap the winning photo. Overall, good team.

Very professional. They arrived early and stayed late. They took their job very seriously and really wanted to get us the best photos possible. He also offers an antique car rental which was very convenient.

He did show up with two assistants which made it difficult to miss any shot. We were thrilled with the pictures. The only reason he gets a 4 is because of the price and we felt like we were getting “nickeled and dimed” after the wedding. We had a choice of purchasing rights to our pictures immediately for a 1K + fee or waiting a year and paying 250. We opted for waiting a year but really thought that it was a bit much considering what we already paid.

I am surprised by the excellent comments Frank has received here. He must have been "off" the day we hired him. Or, perhaps, my standards are too high. I thought he and his team, while nice, were ]dressed inappropriately for a formal church wedding. I can't tell you how many photos he took of the bride with a banner over her head that said "Hotel." He took nearly every photo against the same beige pillar outside the hotel. This isn't to say his pictures were all bad - they weren't. It is just that I thought he lacked imagination or an eye for surroundings. The bride looked beautiful in her pictures, even if the pillar and the word "hotel" were the backdrop. Not impressed. Glad others had better experiences. Maybe we got him on a bad day.

When thinking about photography you can't ever think twice about using Mr. Frank! I've personally grown up in the wedding industry and even now in my 14th year I've always "bumped into" Mr. Frank from time to time. My Uncle was at one point considered the BEST photographer in the entire state of Maryland (he passed when I was very young) and recently I was telling Mr. Frank who my Uncle was, he even said to me that everyone in his industry looked up to my uncle and everyone learned something from his creative eye.

Since that time over 30 years have passed, and now in 2010 heading into 2011 it's an honor to work with a "Veteran-Pro" from the wedding industry and that credit all the way goes to Mr. Frank Formica. He's personable, kind, reasonable, warm, and above-all experienced! Hands down, this man knows what he's doing and his work shows it. His team of photographers are nothing but exceptional and why wouldn't they be? This is a man whose simply dedicated to the fact that if your going to do something, you mind as well do it right, and while your out doing that you mind as well take it up a notch and do it perfectly.

I'm very picky in who I refer for photography and when I find out that all of the other photo-pro's that I've either recommended, had the pleasure of working with, or see out at events from time to time all think the world, and I mean truly think the world of F.A. Formica then you know he's done something right. It's one thing to be praised by your peers, colleagues, and past clients yet to me it's another thing to be honored and recognized.

Recognized not so much for the work you do or the person you are but when both come hand in hand it seems like it's almost too good to be true! Unbelievable? Sure. If you want a touch of unbelievable at your wedding then I think F.A. Formica is one of the best choices in the area - you simply can't...

I consider Frank Formica as a mentor. Every photographer should aspire to capture weddings the way Frank has for many years. If I am booked the first person I refer is Frank without hesitation!
