Riverside Verandah at Courtyard by Marriott-Portland North Harbour

I was looking through a bride magazine and came across Portland North Harbour Courtyard By Marriott. This venue looked absolutely stunning to both my husband and I. we had no idea what we wanted for our wedding. We knew we wanted an outdoor wedding and we wanted the ceremony and the wedding to be held at the same location.

We looked at several wine vineyard and then looked at the Portland North Harbour Courtyard By Marriott. Once we came to the Marriott our search was over. This venue had such a great feeling about it and once we met the wedding planner we fell in love. Tara Blair was a phenomenal attribute to this site and our special wedding day. She was extremely easy to work with and very organized. There are so many more things that go into a wedding than you can possibly realize and Tara was there for every step.

My husband and I would recommend this place to ANYONE! This place was picture perfect from start to finish. The staff at the Portland North Harbour Courtyard By Marriott was hands down amazing! I'm still getting complements on my photo's and asking where this location is.
The guest that attended this event are still saying we had the wedding of the decade!

The moment I saw there venue in the Portland, OR Bridal guide I knew it was exactly where we both wanted to have it. It had everything we wanted. Beautiful, outside, large space, gazebo, overlooking the water, with a little "urban-ness" feel to it. From the getco, Tara (Marriot wedding planner/coordinator) was so sweet. She got us all the information we needed and more. Gave us numbers of vendors, ideas, emailed me to keep me informed and answered all of my 2000 questions daily in the process. haha, always with a smile. As it got even closer (since i planned it in only about 4 ish months) she was even more helpful! She always always went ABOVE AND BEYOND everything I asked or questioned. She always found a way to make it work. The day of there were some stressful kinks, she handled them, I didn't even know or remember what they were cause she took care of them and EVERYTHING looked AMAZING, the day was amazing, I couldnt have had a more helpful, kind, hard working, genuine person to keep me sane and help me through every detail than her. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone and everyone to The courtyard north harbour marriot, perfect location, perfect setting, great food,affordable, EXTREMELY GREAT WEDDING COORDINATOR and staff.

I do not even know where to start praising this venue. First off, they offer varied packages to suit almost any budget. My husband and I searched many out-door venues and feel that this one offered so much more than the others. Not to mention, it’s a huge and gorgeous patio with gorgeous views. I booked this venue over a year ago and I’ve been through two event coordinators in that time. The most recent one quit but I was not concerned as the hotel manager, Tim Bathke, also a Certified Wedding Planner, assumed the role with such professionalism and flair. Tim helped me and my family to make what I feel, in my biased opinion, one of the most beautiful outdoor weddings ever. He responded to my emails promptly and provided a wealth of knowledge. On the day of, he helped us adhere to the timeline and kept everything running smoothly. One of the other best things about this venue is that it’s a hotel that is close to the airport. Our guests could book a room at a discounted rate and they offered shuttle service from the airport to the hotel. Again, I cannot praise this venue enough! Our wedding day was absolutely beautiful and I highly, highly recommend this site as a wedding venue!

We got married on August 2, 2008. I looked a lot of venues before making a decision. Tara was so helpful and the price was something that couldn't be bet! Tara let us mix and match with the foods, helped with the decor and made all of our guests feel comfortable. Our wedding was outside next to the Columbia River it was a really nice site. Our wedding coordinator was really nice and very professional, after the ceremony they quickly set up for dinner they were quick! We had in house catering everything we selected was delicious and it was set up nicely we had an ice sculpture a variety that they let you select, they gave us really nice spacious rooms to get dressed and ready for my bridal party and for the groomsman as well. Everything went well according to plan. We definitly recommend this venue.

I really can't say enough positive things about our wedding at the Courtyard Marriott North Harbour this past weekend (Sunday). From our very first meeting with the Marriott's wedding coordinator back in January 2010, through the wedding and post wedding follow up with the new wedding coordinator, we have just been so pleased. I have never felt so relaxed and stress free about such a major event before, and I know that it primarily because of the Marriott's exceptional staff. The head chef was very friendly and personable, and the food was amazing... We had SOOO many people comment on how tasty the (Tuscan Chicken and Pork tenderloin) buffet was. The serving staff was very polite and courteous to our guests during the reception.... Everyone was so professional and highly organized. The wedding coordinator was great in that she was willing to work with us to meet our financial needs, yet still give us a fantastic celebration with bells and whistles that we will never forget. They are very flexible in customizing what each bride/groom need/want. I would highly recommend this venue for any summer events, especially weddings. The setting is gorgeous and you don't even notice the I-5 traffic noise unless you are trying to listen for it. Occasionally a jet goes by that is a little loud, but they are few and far between. I think I only noticed 1 during our 6 hours on the patio. The only negative is that sometimes it can get a little windy in the afternoon since the patio is on the river, but honestly, the staff secured all of the decorations down very well. They also turned off the fountain so that no one would get wet from fountain spray in the wind.Over all, this is a great bang for your buck venue, especially for Sunday weddings. We highly recommend this venue to any prospective brides. You'll feel comfortable, well taken care of, stress free, and confident knowing that you're getting a great deal at a beautiful setting.

I loved our wedding on the Verandah! It was the perfect day. The staff was amazing and the food was great. Everything went so smoothly, on time and no major complaints. All my guests raved. Our only complaint was we changed coordinators 3 times within our planning process. I had been on top of the planning... but other brides it could have been very overwhelming. This sounds like it has been the case in years past.

Our venue was beautiful! When we first begin to decide on what venue we wanted we thought of all the things we always wanted…The Verandah had it all….Up until two weeks before the wedding when the original day of coordinator emails us to tell us she will no longer be with the company at the time of our wedding and someone else would be taking over (good thing I had a actual wedding planner outside of the venue). It kinda upset us because she was one of the reasons we decided to go with the venue in the first place. If we did not have our wedding planner outside aside from the one that is suppose to come with the packages it would have been a disaster as far as our vision coming alive. The staff at the Marriott were really nice and flexible in various ways however the fact still remains the contact person left. The GM Tim was good though. He picked up where the previous coordinator left off but at the same time stood back and let my outside planner do her job. Overall the wedding turned out great! The Verandah is beautiful for summer weddings and the surroundings are gorgeous…Venue really good if you would like an outside wedding.

We had our wedding here in July 2010 and the staff was wonderful. Very responsive and flexible. It is a great value with a BEAUTIFUL view :) I would highly recommend it.

We really loved having our wedding at the courtyard, but they insisted we use a tent for our wedding day since there was a slight chance of rain and put us inside for dinner, which defeated the point of having an outdoor wedding. The ceremony was outside and was beautiful, no rain that day, and the flowers and fountain they have made it possible for us to save on our floral budget. The food was great and the wedding planner, Brooke, was amazing. I would recommend this location to anyone!

This place is a wonderful site to have the reception. The only downside is when it rains you have to pay a steep additional amount of money for a tent. Overall the staff was friendly and the food was good.

It is hard for me to write this review. When I booked my event here the hotel wedding coordinator was amazing, she was the main reason why I booked my event. Well sad to say before my wedding she left. She accepted another position somewhere else. About two weeks before my wedding the Marriott hired her replacement. I wasn't impresses at all with the new hire, but what was I too do, what's done is done. This new lady didn’t listen to what I wanted and kept saying "typically it is done this way". My thought is this is my wedding not your typical wedding. I had told my wedding party to basically just ignore her and listen to me or my husband. We had everything planned out the way we wanted it. More or less this woman was just in the way. An issue came up in the middle of the reception which was in error of the wedding coordinator. I got the manager involved and he was great and handled this situation in a very professional manner and did what he had to do to make it right. I do have to say the price for our wedding package was very reasonable, the food was excellent, the courtyard was decorated beautifully. I have to say my review is based on the coordinator. If weren’t for her my review would be way different. I did hear that she is no longer working there. I just hope they take more time to fill the very big shoes left from their previous coordinator. She was great!!!

Time and time again, it is a pleasure to photograph weddings at the Riverside Verandah. The staff is so helpful, so accommodating and the grounds for diverse images we are able to capture is wonderful!
