Our wedding venue package included a cake from Porto's which we were originally thrilled about. We were promised the flexibility to design our own cake (within reason) but were given a small black book with about 20 different cakes in it to pick from at the time of our actual appointment. We had to come back a second time to meet with a manager because our first tasting felt like an inconvenience to the staff as we were ignored and given stale, what was left over from the day cake. Upon our second visit we finally settled on an image from their book as a result of the better service the manager presented. Although we were disappointed in the design of the cake at first and the miscommunication of our package inclusion, we were pleasantly surprised with the look of the cake on the day of the wedding. Overall, the taste was decent and the look was nice, nothing to write home about though. The bakery I hired to make my groom's cake did a much better job. I wouldn't mind going back to Porto's for everyday pastries but I would have never order a wedding cake from them had it not been mandatorily included in our package. I felt like we should have gotten something a little more unique given our venue package but that’s neither here nor there in relation to Porto’s actual service.

Instead of a large wedding cake, we ordered flourless chocolate cake and fruit tarts for our guests at the reception--people loved it! I would recommend getting Porto's desserts for any special occassion or party.

I got a 4-tier wedding cake. It was gigantic and the cake was delicious! When I tasted all the different flavors, I couldn't decide so they allowed me to get each tier a different flavor. I have them my cake toppers last-minute, like a couple days before and even though I was running late, they didn't complain much at my tardiness and placed it beautifully with decorated Icing on the steps and everything! You can't really go wrong with Portos, plus they are much more cheaper than most other places!

I had Porto's Cupcakes for my wedding cake. Red velvet, chocolate and vanilla. The cupcakes were great but for some reason they gave me PINK frosting on my cupcakes!! My wedding colors were Black, white and red! Besides that the price, taste and quality was great! Maybe we weren't clear enough in our order about the cupcake frosting. Oh well i wasn't a bridezilla so, they were still delicious!

Beautiful cake. We used "crema de leche" on the filling and was too sweet for us. But many guests enjoyed.

We got a 5 tier round cake from Portos and it was just beautiful and delicious! Each tier was a diff flavor which our guest loved! The biggest tier was red velvelt, mmmmm our favorite!

This place is always so crowded and there's a reason why - the food is so delicious and worth it! I prefer this location over the original Glendale one because it's a lot larger, there are two counters to order from, and lots of seating. I love their guava strudels! And their cubano sandwich is such a great deal (sandwich plus plantain chips for $3!). And the potato balls would be great for a sports party appetizer. And their wedding cakes...I can only imagine they would be as yummy as their pastries. I've only had one of their sheet cakes (chocolate and coconut) and that was perfect.

We didn't use a wedding cake, we had a cupcake display which worked for everybody, young and old! The cupcakes were great, ready as scheduled the day of the event, and were well priced. We received compliments from everyone on how good the cupcakes were!

If you're looking for a great tasting, beautifully designed, and inexpensive wedding cake, then you should go to Portos (the wedding cakes are only available at their Glendale bakery). It's a bit challenging to select a cake without visiting the bakery in person (they do not have a great website), so if you can, go to the cake tasting, which is very helpful and filling (you can try any number of cakes and fillings).I was so impressed that they could produce the cake that I had requested based on a poorly composed picture. Their delivery fee is very reasonable and the cost of the cake plus the delivery is still cheaper than purchasing a less tasty cake from your caterer.

Our experience with Porto's was awesome. Their chocolate mousse cake was the best. I would highly reccommend this Bakery.
