Reviews for Preferred Sonoma Caterers

Good food was one of the top priorities for our wedding and PSC were the ones who made it happen! After some research online for a caterer in wine country, we met with Amber for a tasting. We decided to look no further and went with PSC after that. The food was delicious, but most of all, we loved that Amber was down to earth and actually cares about what we want instead of just quoting us some minimum fee. We worked with Amber and Edie via email during the 2.5 months of wedding planning, they were responsive and very flexible. Amber worked with us on our preferences and our budget. She also worked with my MOH on the linens and color scheme for the reception, everything turned out wonderful! And the food....VERY DELICIOUS and even better than we expected!! We never tasted our final entree selections prior to the wedding so we just trusted Amber, and we're so glad we did! Our guests told us it was the best wedding meal they ever had! :) Thank you PSC and Amber for all your hard work!

They made our day very seamless! They are so professional and really know our venue. I got to sit back and enjoy the evening. They are amazing!!!

The caterer handed my husband a bill for the additional linens as we were leaving the reception venue, we both felt that was extremely tacky, they could've mailed it to us, hence the lower review. Also, did not receive cost for the linens beforehand. The food was great!

The team at Preferred Sonoma Caterers did an amazing job at our wedding this month. We could not be happier with the food quality and service attention. Highly recommended for anyone getting married in northern California!

WOW! Amber gave us all that we wanted and more. PSC was easy to work with throughout the planning process. When it came time for our wedding day, I had not worries. The whole staff that was present at our wedding did their jobs and went above and beyond every time I asked for help or for something to be done. Thanks a Ton!!

We were extremely pleased to work with Amber and her team at PCS! They provided our rehearsal dinner and also our reception at Kunde Winery (See separate review), and Amber also doubled as our day of coordinator. They were very easy to work with, ultra professional, and made our wedding day one of the easiest, most relaxed days we could ask for. They also were fabulous about working with our catering requests (East Carolina BBQ is hard to come by in Sonoma!), including incorporating our recipes and traditions into what became two very, very memorable dinners! Nearly every single guest has given us feedback that the food was the best they've ever had at a wedding, which for a foodie like myself is the best feedback one could ask for!

I can' say enough good things about this company. We chose to do food stations for our wedding (Southern, Italian, and Wine Country) and Amber and Edie worked with us to create a perfect menu. There was more than enough food and with 3 food stations & 3 passed appetizers we paid less than what some companies quoted us for a simple buffet ($28.50 a head). They helped me adjust my menu and make slight changes for over a year and never complained about it. Amber met me at my site a few weeks before the wedding and did the entire site layout drawing for me and submitted it to the people who needed to do the setup. Our banquet captian the evening of the wedding was WONDERFUL. He was so on top of it that his service rivaled that of my day of coordinator - in fact I almost felt as though I had two! I loved the fact that gratuity was not added into the invoice - you paid what you felt was deserved on the evening of the event. Most caterers have a set 18-20% and even if they are awful you have no recourse. We had emails and calls for the week after the wedding telling us that it was some of if not the best food the people ever had at a wedding. We like the ham on the Southern station so much we are getting one for Thanksgiving!

Overall, I am very happy with the Preferred Sonoma Caterers (PCS). We had a cocktail reception, so the food consisted of 2 stations and about 8 passed appetizers, along with a pre-ceremony bread, cheese and drink bar. The guests said the food was great, and much to my happiness, that there was enough! One of my biggest priorities was making sure that guests did not leave hungry, even though it was a cocktail reception. Everyone said there was enough food and the leftovers that we took home proved it. There was one appetizer that I did not care for, but I take full responsibility for it. I tried the torta at our tasting back in October and did not like it, but was convinced by everyone else that all of the guests would like it. They didn't. I should have listened to my instinct and taken it off the menu, which is why I don't fault PCS. In addition to the great food, the service was fantastic! I think that there was a waiter assigned to me specifically, because the same wonderful guy kept coming back to me and insisting that I eat and making up little plates of food for me. I felt very well cared for.
We also hired Amber, the owner of PCS, to act as our day of coordinator. She was a STEAL and I would have paid double for her. Amber has a type A personality that is easy to get along with, but gets the job done. She took over at the rehearsal and I didn't look back (ok, well maybe I looked a little, but I felt very confident in her). I didn't have to worry about a thing (including the guest who got sick all over the deck- Amber is full service to say the least!).

This catering service was excellent!! Not only were they a pleasure to work with, their food was amazing! We're still getting compliments after a year! Their prices were fair and they'll work with you to stay within your budget while still providing elegant service. At the reception, they took care of everything...tableclothes, napkins, china...everything! All 250 of our guests were pleased to sit down to a full meal :)
PSC did the catering for both my wedding (which was organized by my bride and me) and the rehearsal dinner (which was organized by my mother.) We heard only raves from our guests about the food and service for both events.
For the wedding we researched at least 5 different caterers in the area, getting quotes and sampling food from each one. PSC was on the lower end of the cost spectrum and on the higher end of the taste spectrum.
The thing that really tipped the scales in the end was Amber's enthusiasm, attentiveness and creativity in coming up with a menu that really reflected the kind of food we wanted to have out our wedding. We did not want to have the standard and boring fillet and salmon wedding food. We wanted to feature local ingredients, some of our personal favorites(flank steak and grilled veggies!) and a few exotic flavors since we love to travel so much. PSC was by far the best at listening to us and then making tweaks afterward. We truly ended up with the special meal that we wanted.
In the run up to the event the PSC staff was always friendly, flexible and responsive right up to the last minute. And on the day of the event, they did a fantastic job and everything went off without a hitch. They did a great job of setting everything up and working with the venue and other vendors and I know they are a big reason we had so many people telling us it was the best wedding they had ever been to! Amber also did a great job of personally making sure that my bride and I were taken care of with food and drinks. We were so busy running around taking pictures and trying to talk to everyone that without someone looking after us it would have been easy for us to forget to eat!
As for the costs, it is inevitable for an event like this that costs will creep up from the original estimate, but there really wasn't much of this and most of it was probably the result of requests we made. In the end I am confident we ended up paying 20% less than if we had gone with a couple of other caterers we talked to.
As for the rehearsal dinner, I was not too involved with the planning, but I know my Mom was very pleased with everything. The theme for that meal was a Mexican fiesta and as a complete Mexican food junkie/snob I must admit that I wasn't expecting great things from the fajita buffet, but I was very, very pleasantly surprised and so were others who were real Mexican food lovers. As the groom, I was so busy gabbing with everyone I wasn't able to go for the second helping that I normally would have, so later that night as I lay in bed with a grumbling stomach, I was very bummed to have missed out on that.
After dealing with several snooty, condescending, overpriced catering companies, we ultimately chose PSC to cater our wedding and rehearsal dinner at my parents' Sonoma County home. Every staff member was friendly, professional and competent, the food was delicious, and Amber worked closely with my husband and me to make every detail perfect.
We planned the whole wedding with the help of family and friends (stressful!!), but PSC really went above and beyond to take care of us. When we couldn't decide on desserts, Amber made us a sampling of all the PSC desserts and even boxed some up to take back to my family. PSC was also thoughtful enough to send a glass of champagne and a beautiful little plate of fruit and cheese to my dressing room before the wedding ceremony because they knew I would forget to eat!
PSC is attentive and responsive. Phone calls and emails were returned immediately, and Amber patiently listened to and addressed all of my neurotic little worries during the planning process. When a miscommunication left us without any catering staff to help during the rehearsal dinner, (our misunderstanding), PSC promptly sent out the most helpful, charming man (unfortunately I can't remember his name--Vinny?) who was everywhere at once, filling glasses, pulling out chairs, clearing away plates, and making the guests laugh. PSC also worked with the florist and rental company to coordinate the wedding setup, and when the rental company delivered old, banged up ugly chairs, PSC had brand new chairs delivered within the hour. They helped feed our wedding band, cleaned the kitchen and neatly boxed up all of the leftovers.
I highly recommend PSC--they are warm, thoughtful, dependable, and deliver high quality food and service for a reasonable price. Our wedding was the best day of our lives, and PSC helped to make it so special.
Hi Amber,
We had a FANTASTIC time at our wedding. We've been told by tons of people that it was the most beautiful wedding they have ever been to. Of course we are biased, but we agree! Everything worked out perfectly. Your crew did an awesome job. The gardens were terrific - the ceremony site looked wonderful. The big surprise was the reception site. It was fantastic.
You are the best caterer anyone could imagine. You took care of everything. The food was so amazing. I was bragging to all my friends before hand that we were going to have such awesome food. Frankly I thought I had over hyped it. However, once we got there and saw the food stations and tasted the food, I realized that the quality of the food far surpassed our expectations. You did such a great job. My dad was so amazed. He kept telling me, "not only is the food so good, but there is so much".... We definitely scarfed down the grub all night and into the afterparty (which was fun and crazy and chaos). Thanks also for having the plates of oysters ready for me. That was cool!
You saved us too with the cake cutting. Once we got up there to cut the cake, we realized we had no idea what we were supposed to do. Thanks for taking charge and giving us the quick instructions on the sly. Really nice touch. I can't thank you enough for all the great things you did. From bringing the fish bowls and all the "extras" to answering all of our ridiculous questions. We feel that we probably pushed you a bit with the weird and different setup/menu/layout etc. You far exceeded our expectations. We will definately recommend you 100% for anyone getting married, having a party, whatever! I have a few pictures of you and your crew in "action" that I'll try and digitalize and send over to you.
Thanks again

Dear Amber,
Thank you very much for all of your (and your staff's) help in making our first annual fundraiser for the Eames Foundation here at my mother's home a great success! All of the food was delicious from the special cheeses to the sumptuous, warm hors d'oeuvres (like the mushrooms stuffed with crab meat) at the beginning to the special box lunches (the ahi was divine) and side salads.
Your attention to detail in helping us if we forgot something whether to order the coffee service at the last minute, or suggesting the tubs for the bar was all greatly appreciated. You also helped us shuttle auction items from house to barn when we suddenly decided to do that. (Communication between you and your staff was so efficient and quick because you could text each other if something needed to be cared for). You were never flustered and always calm in the face of unexpected developments.
You made everything go more smoothly - which allowed me and the rest of my family to focus on the guests throughout the afternoon. And I was so happy to open our refrigerator at the end of the evening (the last guest left at 9pm) and see that you had boxed some of the delicious hors d'oeuvres (which I had barely eaten because I had been talking so much) and then this morning I noticed the special treat of cookie dough!! I am going to make the cookies with my children this afternoon. My mother also sends her warm appreciation and thanks you for all that you did!!
Thank you again!
Sincerely,
Llisa Demetrios
