We had our wedding ceremony and reception here in summer 2011. We looked at many of the Presidio venues as we wanted to keep our wedding in San Francisco and didn’t want to do a hotel. We liked the GGC because it’s an open slate where you’re allowed to make your own choices. You bring in everything from the rentals to your caterer to your own beverages. The initial cost of the GGC is pricey, but if you take into account the amount that you can save by picking and choosing your food and beverages; you can actually save money here. We also liked the timeframe of 2pm-12am. Everyone must leave before midnight so your party needs to end 10:45ish. We had 135 guests. We had the ceremony in one of the side rooms, which was perfect. Cocktail hour in the courtyard and the weather agreed with us that evening. Reception in the main room and everyone fit with plenty of room to spare. Buffet setup was in the back of the main room with the bar in the lobby area. I think a guest count of 150 would be excellent, at times our guests seemed spread out.You should know that the GGC staff is there to rent you the space and not be your event planner. They will answer your questions on what is allowed and isn’t, but the ideas must come from you, your caterer and wedding planner. They do make this clear to you also.Another negative is getting your non-driving guests out of the Presidio. It is very hard to get cabs to come here, almost impossible at 11pm on a Saturday night. We heard other people that have used the GGC have arranged for transportation but we opted not to. We piled people in cars and had a couple cabs shuttle people to just outside the Presidio gates and back, keeping their meter running.

We love our venue, it could be a bit expensive on Saturday event but if you could do it on Friday or [ for us ] on Sunday. The rate is still pretty good. The building gives you the feeling elegant yet very relax at the same time. The view around the building is just wonderful.

My husband and I held our wedding ceremony here in January 2009. The chapel is beautiful (You don't need much decoration) and was perfect for our intimate wedding ceremony (We had about 50 guests).
One downside- no flower petals! (or anything that can be thrown) But, it was well worth it!
The event coordinator, Rowan was wonderful to work with. He was very quick in responding to my questions and very helpful!
Since a big portion of our guests came from out of town and we had a reception in downtown, it was nice to show them a different part of SF. It seemed like the guests enjoyed the greenery in January too!

Once I had seen the Golden Gate Club, I knew that I couldnt have my reception any where else. If you are looking for an ideal San Francisco venue this is it. While it can be very pricy on the weekend we opted to get married on a Friday costing us $2,500. The floor to ceiling windows with a view of the bay is the perfect backdrop. We had our cocktails on the Ventana Balcony and then let our guests into the Ventana Room for dinner. A great venue can take your wedding to the next level. Our guests LOVED the Golden Gate Club.

I just had my wedding here & was a little nervous at first that it wasn't as "fancy/nice" as I had wanted it to be seeing as I'm really picky about aesthetics & obsessed about my wedding. But it ended up turning out beautifully. Honestly this little chapel is so charming once filled with your family/friends & I actually had a ton of people comment on how much they loved it - I think because it was so unique & the lighting & glass windows are really beautiful.
I would def pick this place again...so glad i had my ceremony here!

The Presidio is a beautiful venue but the services provided are sub-par. The prices are reasonable but the lack of service is very hard to deal with. While I understand that the Presidio is a federal trust, the poor service is still not acceptable. The prices are not that inexpensive. In exchange, you must pay early and be subject to piles of red tape and lack of information. I think you get better value from a private venue. The venue, while beautiful, is not well maintained. The Presidio needs to lower their prices or raise the level of service, in my opinion. This is the only vendor from our wedding that I would not highly recommend.

When we first saw this venue we knew it fit us perfectly. Its formal but with the beautiful scenery it kept the feeling relaxed. We had a small group but still filled the room nicely. The price was affordable with the friday rental and you get the building for 12 hours so there is plenty of time for everything you just need to plan and properly inform your vendors. The building was amazing and we rented lighting. Check out my photos to see a picture of the building front and back. The other thing I liked was we were allowed to take photos in teh grassy area behind the building and that gave us a beautiful backdrop. We had our wedding in April and the weather was perfect so we even got to see the bridge and ships coming into the bay.

We loved the chapel at first sight! The chapel has windows on all 3 sides so you feel as if you are outdoors and the natural light that comes in during the afternoon is amazing! (That's when we held our ceremony, about 4-ish). The natural acoustics in the chapel allow you to not use a microphone and there is a small pulpit to the left of the altar where a string quartet can sit. There's a bridal room in the back but the tricky part is to get to the front of the chapel since the chapel is all windows on the side. (We parked a car in the back and, when it was time to enter, my brother drove my dad and me to the front.) We had 200 guests in the chapel and everyone had enough sitting room for the ceremony. Such a quaint and cozy chapel! The only downer was to get a hold of the coordinator (not Shirley who reserves the chapel). She was not very responsive and I had to email her 3 times and call her twice before finally getting a hold of her. And then she only met with me for 5 minutes during the rehearsal to tell me the rules. Otherwise, I would recommend this chapel!

Loved the chapel! The inside is so gorgeous with the dark wood and the lovely designs above. You have to see it in person to appreciate it's beauty. The size was perfect and it was nice to see a full house filled with all of our friends and family. It is definitely a great price and in a great location (in the heart of the presidio). You are also close to Chrissy field and can take advantage of the location by taking pics there as well as the exploratorium

We loved this chapel! The ground around it are a little run down which is unfortunate because the church is so cute and very warm feeling. We had 170 guests and completely booked out the pews. It was great to look to the back of the church and see warm smiling faces and not empty pews! The dark exposed beams on the ceiling with gold inscriptions and the chandeliers made for great pictures!
The other up side is that this chapel is way cheaper than most of the locations offered in the city.

the venue was perfectly lovely! we wanted a San Francisco wedding - but loved the idea of non-city scenery. the presidio location fit the bill. grand windows overlooked the bay and tons of trees - it was simply gorgeous. it was also very convenient as we held our ceremony at the Main Chapel - which was just a short walk up a hill! easy parking, perfect sized space (with different rooms for cocktail hour and dinner) and a built in stage made this a perfect party for a live band.my only complaint is that someone from the band was 15 min late in getting out and they deducted over $300 from our deposit! that seemed a bit much for the amount of time, in my opinion (and a little too nit-picky given how much we had already paid). beware of your time and it won't happen to you!!otherwise, the staff was lovely and the venue was perfect.
