She understood the type of wedding we desired and offered invaluable experience and guidance to help make the day a reality. She offered ideas on things we hadn't even thought of right down to the little details. On the wedding day, she kept all the aspects on schedule and well organized while at the same time projecting a sense of calm. Everything went off without a hitch and we were able to throughly relax and enjoy the entire day.

Private Receptions designed and planned our wedding and they were AMAZING. From beginning to end they remained professional and full of creative and fun ideas that made our wedding so totally us. Even though our wedding was long distance, they traveled for both the rehearsal dinner and the day of the wedding and did a fantastic job. We didn't have to worry about a SINGLE THING throughout the process. We knew Lauren and her amazing team would take care of it. We had such a blast at our wedding and remember everything vividly because Lauren worked so hard at making sure our wedding dream came true. People are still talking about how amazing it was. Oh, and did I mention they did all this while Lauren was planning her own wedding? Talk about amazing!
Nerissa is a dedicated professional who not only loves what she does, but also good at what she does. She is excellent in reading people and understand their different interests and vision for their big day. She saves a lot of your time by introducing wonderful vendors that will fit you perfectly, and gives you sense of peacefulness by planning and executing meticulously. We hired Nerissa for our daughters wedding in October of 2010, she and her team were amazing, I could not of pulled this wedding off without her!!!! I wish I had another wedding to plan just so I could use her again!! I highly recommend her and her team, they were very professional but I also felt like she was a friend, I could call her anytime, as well as my daughter, she also captured my daughter's vision of her wedding perfectly. It has been 71/2 months since my daughter was married and I truly miss working with her. Thanks so much Nerissa, without you, this marvelous wedding would not have been 10 star!!!!!
There is no way I could have stayed calm on my wedding day without Nerissa and her team of skilled gals! Not to mention their super-trunk of handy anything-you-might-possibly-need. I could turn around at any moment and entrust these ladies with directions, money-gift cards (!), changes in timeline, anything. They were superb and I recommend them to any bride.
We LOVED Nerissa and her team! We interviewed a number of planners who frankly were either to snobby or just not flexible with our vision. I think she was more concerned about saving us money then we were lol. Her designs were exactly what we were looking for and let me tell you I'm not an easy person to please...yes ladies I was a Bridezilla! But after all it was my big day...right;) Anyhoo she kept me calm my family adored her and her girls so I can't say thank you enough!
Everybody knows weddings can be overwhelming. I don't know what we would have done without Nerissa and Private Receptions. Not only did she given us much needed emotional support and guidance, she's got GREAT ideas that made planning our wedding more efficient, beautiful and frankly, gave us more bang for our buck. I never knew how important a wedding planner could be until I met Nerissa. She was our therapist, cheerleader, accountant and stylist...and all with her heart working for our best interests.
I truly can't express how Nerissa and her team helped us through our engagement all the way until the last song was played on our wedding night. My husband lost his job during several months before the wedding and Private Receptions was able to help re-negotiate contracts and find last minute savings to help us during a rough financial time. Nerissa is not only a true artist at coming up with decor ideas she is a mastermind when it comes to pulling it all together.
Initially we were skeptical about hiring a planner and figured we could have done it with the help of friends and family....boy were we wrong....from the onset of planning this became a full time job that neither one of us had experience with...we can't thank Nerissa enough for making our wedding so memorable! We plan to use Private Receptions for future events like ummmm... our baby shower!!!!
Nerissa offers a variety of services from Full Service to Hourly, including her very cool Virtual Service (unlimited time via telephone and e-mail for planning advice and access to all her resources). She meets many budgets and offers complimentary initial consultations. She is incredibly professional and detail-oriented.

Nerissa formed Private Receptions™ to help alleviate the anxiety and frustration that people have when faced with the complexity of orchestrating and designing their own Wedding. Who is Lauren?
Lauren Cooper achieved an MFA in Arts Management in 2010 during which time she discovered her talent for creative event planning, Laure honed this passion and quickly began her professional journey as an Event Consultant and became a Certified Wedding Planner with a certificate from the QC School of Wedding Planning.
Lauren was nominated to participate on the 2010-2011 Communications Commitee for the International Special Events Society for the New York Metro Chapter. Her involvement with ISES NY Metro was invaluable in helping the chapter internally price Digital communications to members and nonmembers. If Lauren is not planning a wedding, networking within professional associations and volunteering her time to the industry you may find her assisting the Urban Girl Squad event planning team, where she plans and produces social events throughout Manhattan. Lauren provides clients with a fresh perspective for bringing their vision to reality. Her ability to handle difficult situations with grace, and her impeccable attention to detail make her a great asset to every bride's wedding planning journey.
