R-Ranch in the Mountains

I knew I wanted to have a fall wedding in the Dahlonega mountains. My fiance and I toured many different locations including several beautiful wineries, but as soon as I walked into the R-Ranch, I knew I had found my dream location. It is such a picturesque location, and Wendy Wood was an absolute pleasure to work with. I had great flexibility there, which was important to me. I didn't have to use a specific caterer or DJ, and I was also able to purchase my own wine and beer. We got married on the hillside in a beautiful afternoon ceremony. The view was breathtaking. We held the reception inside at the Lodge and it was the perfect size for our crowd of about 150. The best thing about the Lodge is that it hardly needs any decoration as it's perfect all by itself. It also has one of the largest dance floors I saw in Dahlonega. I can't imagine my wedding anywhere else but the R-Ranch. And be sure to enlist Wendy for day-of coordination. She was INVALUABLE!!

The R Ranch is such a beautiful place. The staff were very helpful, but the response time for calls/emails could have been quicker. Also, a bride should never be told "I can't do this anymore" by staff...this made me very worried as this was on my wedding day! I wish they had more options for caterers due to the large fee you must pay to bring in an outside caterer. Overall, I had a wonderful wedding day! Thank you!

I found this venue randomly online. I saw the lodge and immediately fell in love with its elegance, rusticity, and natural beauty. Wendy Wood was great to work with! This venue is FANTASTIC for the price, from a 25 or 50 person event, all the way to 200+ event. The way the venue transforms if you want something modern, or if just left by itself, its BEAUTIFUL. The mountain views are PERFECT for pictures, and there are so many locations around the property that your photographer can work with. It's phenomenal. The ONLY thing i have to say about it was that if you bring in your own caterer, they have to be licensed and insured, and the ranch charges you an extra $5 PER PERSON overhead of your catering cost to basically penalize you for bringing in your own caterer. OR if you use their caterer, (which i've heard great things about) but you don't want to use their baker, you have to pay an extra $100 just to bring in your own cake.
Other than that, everything was amazing, and Wendy went above and beyond to make my day the most amazing day it could be.
I would also recommend getting one of the rental houses for the night before, and NOT letting 25 people come in it the day of. That was chaotic, but the cabin was beautiful, comfortable and rustic. :)

My overall experience with R-ranch was very positive. Wendy Wood, the wedding coordinator, did an outstanding job working with me throughout the entire process. She assisted and advised me in most every detail concerning the reception. She was very patient, courteous, and helpful with planning my daughters wedding reception at R-ranch. She also was behind the scenes seeing about small details that my husband and I were not aware of during the reception. I enjoyed working with Ms. Wood, and would encourage my friends to use R-ranch as their wedding reception venue.
My only negative feedback would be the overall cost of renting, it ended up being more than we anticipated. The facility coordination fee we felt was rather high, but the rental fee was decent.
I would highly recommend using R-ranch for any event because of my personal experience with those I worked with, mainly Ms. Wood!

My daughter knew she wanted to get married at the R-ranch the day she became engaged! She and I contacted Wendy Wood who coordinates the wedding and we met with her within a couple days at our convenience. I have to say I was extremely pleased with the service Wendy provided us. She was always prompt in returning my calls and very flexible, making arrangements to have the site available to us for hours well beyond normal business time. The wedding was spectacular! The ceremony was held at 6 PM on the hillside with the sun off to the side and out of everyone's eyes. The hills surrounded us and were filled with several shades of green. The reception hall in the lodge is surrounded by tall windows that looked out onto the mountains and we were given a view of an exquisite sunset! I want to commend Wendy and her staff on their exemplary job! Well done!!

I actually was not the bride but assisted with a wedding recently at the R-Ranch. I had a great time working with the staff - we worked closely with Wendy who was so helpful and patient. She and her staff were very friendly and such a pleasure to work with. The R Ranch is gorgeous! The mountain views are amazing and the wedding was beautiful!

They say every little girl dreams of her wedding day and I was no exception.The part I did not dream about was how fantastic Wendy and her crew at the R-Ranch would be in helping our special day come off without a hitch!

The price was awesome - which made my parents happy. The Lodge stunningly beautiful, and the places for photos were above & beyond any I had seen elsewhere! Almost makes me want to get married all over again :)

I can not say enough about our all-around wonderful experience at the Ranch and I am looking forward to being a MOH at a wedding there in April 2011.

R Ranch is absolutely breath taking and is exactly what I wanted! My wedding turned out beautiful! I just had to micromanage the cooridnator and call 10 times to get an answer. I emailed 5 times just to book the place and never got a response back! Just realize if this is where you want, you will need to stay on them. Do NOT stay in their cabins. The only two worth a darn are 1701 and 1702 and they are still "rustic". The others were extremely dirty and had holes in the mattresses and spider webs everywhere. They were gross. The lodge is not like that as it gets used constantly.

We are still talking about my daughter's wedding and how perfect it turned out at R Ranch. Wendy Wood was a wonderful coordinator we think our experience was so positive because of her. She was personable, professional, caring about our particular needs and just fun to work with. We love her and feel like she's part of our family now!

R-Ranch is absolutely beautiful! The views are breathtaking. Highly recommend an outdoor wedding if the weather allows for it. The lodge that is used for receptions is a fun and relaxing environment.

We visited every wedding location that is available in Dahlonega and the surrounding areas! Nothing compared to the cost value and overall look that R-Ranch provided! We will use this venue in the future and recommend it to everyone!

The R-Ranch was the absolute perfect place for our wedding. It was affordable, the people were great to work with, the food was delicious, and the scenery was breath taking!

The R-Ranch was the perfect place to get married. The mountain setting was exactly what I was looking for and the reception room was the perfect size with a dance floor, beautiful fireplace and bar. The only complaint I have is that the person in charge of booking the weddings was not very responsive in the beginning but once we booked a date, I was able to speak to her more often. Everything worked out in the end. If you are looking to have your ceremony and reception all in one place and in a mountain setting, this is the venue for you.

It was beautiful and they were extremely helpful with everything. They provided support and answered any questions or concerns I had up til the last second.
