Sqaure invitations cost more to mail because post office equipment does not handle the size easily.
Always, always, always take one of your invitation sets to the post office and have it weighed. This allows you to accurately purchase postage. The last thing you want is all your invitations to be returned for lack of postage.
You know those cakes with the plastic tiers, or the stairs with little people on them? They are out, old fashioned, passe`, in short, probably not what you really want. Take a look at bridal magazines, cakes this century are stacked.
Do your guests a favor and give them edible favors. Those cute little picture frames? I won't tell you what happens to them or how many get left behind because nobody has a bunchof 2.3 pictures sitting around waiting for a frame. I just went to a birthday party and the favor was one champagne glass engraved with the guest of honors name. It's cute, yes, but it's going in the back of a closet because there are TWO of us and besides that I don't want to see her name everytime I have a glass of champagne. Oh, let's not mention that I already have champagne glass sets. What would I have used? A cookie, a cupcake, some candy in a box, something I could eat, enjoy and remember!! Edible favors is the way to go.
