Rev. Dr. Ronald R. Turcot
Turcot was hired in May ‘12 for our wedding on 10-26-12. My *now* husband & I met with him for coffee; seemed like a legit guy; listened to our needs for the service, gave nice suggestions, etc. He was a bit flaky on emailing, lost our paperwork 3 times & I had to call & remind him to check his email; I chalked it up to his age.
We hired him due to his Catholic background, researched him (or so we thought); couldn't find a bad thing written about him.
FAST FORWARD to 4 days before our wedding- he had our deposit of $100. Turcot called saying his daughter & grandson were involved in a car wreck in Richmond, VA & had to leave the next morning to see them in the hospital. He suggested Dr. Taylor as a sub; he claimed to be Catholic but continued to insult the religion by using incorrect words to describe things. We called Turcot, asked for someone who was Catholic, as that's what we already paid for; we were then given Ronald Pace. Pace was the rudest man I've ever had to talk with. He said he'd be embarrassed to perform the ceremony we were asking for (mind you, Turcot is Pace's friend- Turcot put this ceremony together & our program was printed!). Pace said he was Roman Catholic then slipped & later said he was Protestant- then he was something for the Ukrainian Church. We contacted Turcot again asking for an adequate replacement; he couldn’t believe the 2 other guys weren’t suitable even after we told him the conversations- 6 hours of phone calls later we decided to sleep on it & find a new person the next day. All 3 of these guys have similar background stories (military, volunteer, travel) Each of them strangely returned our phone calls in the exact amount of time they said (usually told 5 or 10 minutes because they were in the middle of a service- at 9pm on a Monday). Fortunately we found a new officiant who did a lovely job, Dr. Andy LePage. HIRE HIM INSTEAD!!!
Of course, after all this happened- I found this website with these horrible reviews.
We hired Rev. Turcot for our wedding in the Tampa area. Upon first meeting him he seemed legit and experienced. However, the service he provided was horrible. He did not follow along with what he told us would be read. He kept loosing his place and flipping through the pages, we even repeated a portion of the service because he didn't realized he read it already. This man is a joke and apparently enjoys ripping people off and getting a free dinner out of it for him and his wife. DO NOT HIRE this man, unless you want an embarassing service!
I live in CA and my fiance and I too, were scamed by this "rev. turcot" aswell he lives in CA, we were notified by another rev. that turcot was moving to Florida, when I contacted Turcot (it took me along time to do so...) he stated that he was getting to old for weddings and he didnt have my money and he would pay me in payments, he is a scam artisit appart. jumping from ca to fl. and from fl. to ca... you were not the only one.
Contracted and paid deposit for a wedding in Florida. He left Florida and moved to California without any notification and refuses to return the $100.00 deposit her required when we booked him. Spoke with 2 other Floridians who had a similar experience. DO NOT USE HIM!!!
Similiar to other couples in the Tampa Bay area, Mr. Turcot accpeted a deposit and never showed to perform the service. Requests for a refund have gone unanswered for 9 months. M. Turcot has now fled Florida and is residing in California. Do not use this individual for your service.
Rev. Turcot is now in Westminster CA but we contracted with him in summer of 2006 when he was living in Tampa Florida for our October 2006 wedding. This is the same Rev. Turcot, retired Air Force (or so he says) same picture listed as when we met him at a Tampa restaurant to go over details of our wedding. He is very believable and very friendly at your initial consultation, we talked for over an hour, went over ceremony details and everything. In the end we put down a deposit with him and wrote a check for what I believe was about $150, (been a couple years since we did this). The balance of course would be payable on day of wedding in cash. Time goes by and about a month before our wedding we get a call from another priest who says he can now do our wedding in place of Rev. Turcot as Turcot had an emergency in Alabama. The whole story seemed a little fishy as we spoke with the other priest. We were not happy and asked to speak with Rev. Turcot. He finally returned our phone calls after about a week, said he would refund our deposit and we could find another Rev of our choice on short notice no less.
We did find another Rev who did a great job, (I'll write a review on him shortly), but we NEVER got our DEPOSIT MONEY BACK from Rev. Turcot. Come to see today if you check this link he has performed the same sort of stunt on other couples in Tampa, Chicago, and now as recently as June of 2008 at his new home in California: http://www.decidio.com/local-businesses/v-52-officiants/california/Westminster/rev-dr-ronald-r-turcot-r57724.html#8953
With the other couples' stories it's basically a variation on what he did with us, set up a consultation, perform well at that first meeting and seem genuine, get your deposit money and take off never to be seen again. I remember the day we met him another couple was there before us and another couple was coming in after us to meet with him. I can only imagine how many people he has done this too. Guess when enough complaints are made to local police he packs up and heads somewhere new to start all over again.
