I was married two weeks ago at Solage in Calistoga and used Richard as our photographer. He did an amazing job and was a pleasure to work with every step of the way. I live in NYC and did everything over the phone. Richard was always reachable and really listened to what was important to me. I did not want to see my husband before the wedding and he understood and was able to work around this and shoot photos of just the bridesmaids and groomsmen before the ceremony. It was also important to me that we take some shots in a vineyard (which is not on Solage's property) and after the ceremony he happily took my husband and me in his car to do these shots at a neighboring winery. Richard has a lovely demeanor, is energetic, professional and has a great eye. It is also clear that he's been shooting weddings in and around Napa Valley for many years and knows exactly what he is doing. So many of my guests also thought Richard was fabulous and came up to me after the wedding (and are still asking me) where I found him. We also worked with one of Richard's videographer's, Jared, who was terrific and an additional photographer from his company for the rehearsal reception. Richard sent me the digital photos right away and posted them on a website that is very easy to use and send around to my family and friends. I strongly recommend Richard and photographers/videographers from his company and am happy to speak with you if you have any questions about my experience. My number is (917)215-5993. I look forward to using him again for portraits when my husband and I travel to the area for our anniversary trips!
My husband and I used Richard Wood for our wedding in St Helena on a Winery. Our wedding coordinator had us meet with several photographers but I can honestly say after we meet with Richard no one else stood chance. Richard's work speaks for itself. He is truly an amazingly talented photographer. In all the chaos he was able to capture all the precious moments. My husband and I knew the photographer was a huge part of the day, we knew we would never be able to take it all in and Richard was able to capture it all so we could. I would highly reccomend Richard to anyone, I promise you will not be sorry. Thank you Richard for you amazing work!!

Richard Wood took the wedding photos for my wedding in Yountville, CA at the Vintage Estate Pavillion on April 24, 2010. I can't say enough good things about him. I live in New York City, so it wasn't the easiest thing to plan my wedding from afar. Richard was so great to work with. He was available to answer any questions I had from the start and always responded to emails/ phone calls in a timely manner. He was so laid back and helpful throughout the entire process. He took time before the wedding to go over the timeline for the day, and gave me a clear idea of the types of photos he would take. He was flexible with timing and worked with our wedding budget. He even gave us recommendations for our rehearsal dinner and ceremony musicians when my fiance (now husband) and I were struggling to find those vendors-- we ended up using his recommendations and were extremely happy! On the day of the wedding, he was so efficient and kept everyone calm and relaxed. I have a HUGE family and he was able to get through all the family photos and some portraits with my husband and I during our cocktail hour -- and we still had some time leftover to enjoy the cocktail hour with our guests. He worked independently and captured all the emotion/ special moments of our day. I would highly recommend Richard for his creative ability, his professionalism, and because he is a real pleasure to work with.
My husband and I recently had the pleasure of working with Richard for our wedding in Napa, CA at Auberge du Soleil. His work was absolutely amazing! There are countless beautiful pictures of our special day and we are thrilled to know that the beauty of our wedding day was captured by Richard's stunning photography. If you are looking for the perfect combination of patience, exuberance and talent - Richard Wood is an excellent choice. His ability to effectively calm not only the bridal party, but the entire family, is extraordinary! Not only does Richard project his calm, collected persona onto others, he also takes amazing photographs! During all of the wedding chaos, it was great to have a devoted photographer that took it upon himself to capture all of the great moments without any need for direction. My husband and I are so impressed with Richard's photographs; we are already planning an anniversary photo session! We were married at V Sattui Winery in Napa on October 4th, 2009 - Richard was a perfect addition to our fairytale wedding. Thank you, Richard!
Richard is an amazing photographer! He was incredibly helpful throughout the planning stages of our wedding (destination wedding at Auberge du Soleil in Napa), and offered helpful suggestions on different wedding photo ideas for our big day. Richard was wonderful to work with - so easy going, helpful, and relaxed! He captured all of the important moments (plus more!) during our ceremony and reception, and was able to turn around our pictures in just two days!! His photo sharing website is genius and we absolutely love the pictures!! We can't wait to receive our disc and start working on our wedding album. We highly, highly recommend Richard for any of your photography needs! :)
We had are wedding in Sonoma California 09/17/09 and hired Richard Wood as our photographer, we are so happy with our choice!
Richard Wood is an amazing photographer but more importantly you can sense he really loves sharing your special day, he took the time with us to cover all bases before the wedding day, he has been great in always being available for questions. It was a true pleasure to have him part of our wedding experience. Another very important point for choosing Richard is that we payed a flat rate that included ALL pictures on a CD and he also offers a website for $14.99/month where ALL our pictures are posted and accessible to anybody we choose to send the link, user name & password, they can even download the pictures from the site...WOW that is so convenient , our friends and family loved it!!!!
I also did a special shoot the day before the wedding with Richard, this is a new service he is offering for brides to be, it was a surprise for my "husband"...OMG I was more nervous about that shoot then the wedding! But Richard did such a great job of making me at ease I ended up relaxing very quickly and had a blast! The pictures turn out really great. Don't forget to ask him about this you wont be sorry:)

We absolutely love all the photos and we are so happy with everything Richard did. They look absolutely fantastic!! Everyone we have showed them to has commented on what a great photographer we had. I really appreciateed his talent, and professionalism and ability to work fast and bring out the best in everyone. We can't wait to get the disk and start printing pictures. If I know anyone needing photography in California, I'll be sure to send them to him because he was just wonderful! Worth every penny!!!
Richard is fantastic! Unfortunately he was not available for our wedding date. He did however help us find someone even though he wasn’t available. He went above and beyond, with many phone and e-mail communications making sure we found someone to fit all our needs. He has a coalition of photographers he works with in the Napa Valley. We love Briana, whom he got us in touch with! I know we would have loved Richard too based on my experience with him, his work on his website and the reviews I read about him!
Richard Wood is AMAZING! He is the most calm easy to work with guy I have ever met. He totally kept everything "chill" and knew exactly what was going on. I hadn't realized he would be such a part of everything around us. He was really organized. He was also really fun to work with. He kept me calm. The most important part was the final product. The pictures were stunning! He captured everything plus some on our special day. I am so glad we hired Richard and would recommend him to anyone. Don't hesitate, you will be so happy to work with him.
He is an absolute professional but in the coolest way! We were married a year ago at St. Francis Winery in Sonoma.

Richard Wood is not only an amazingly talented photographer (check out his website), he's also a great person to have around during the chaos of a wedding! His costs are incredibly reasonable for the Napa Valley, and in my opinion, a steal for the quality of photographs you get.
Aside from his photographic responsibilities at the wedding, Richard played a big part in helping me during the day. When getting ready, he was instrumental in keeping things - and me - calm (it was getting really crazy - people kept popping in my room). During pre-ceremony photos, I felt faint; he made sure I got plenty of food, and made sure I ate it! After the ceremony, he helped my bridesmaids do my bustle! During the cake-cutting, he showed my husband and I how to properly cut the cake, and do the toast.
He has a great personality, very outgoing and friendly (and not too bad looking!). My bridesmaids just loved him.
I am so glad we chose him. I'm not sure how I would've been during the wedding if he wasn't around! HIGHLY, highly recommended.

Because the larger, medium-format cameras proved a little cumbersome for his fast, editorial style of shooting, Richard shoots exclusively in 35mm format with two Nikon cameras. In this style, he is able to take upwards of a thousand photographs of your wedding; shooting both color and black & white/sepia, posed formals and non-posed editorials, bridal portraits, the ceremony and celebration, friends and family, as well as beautiful, fine-art photographs of your flowers, table settings, ambience and the myriad of other details of your wedding day.
