We held our wedding and reception at Ridley Creek hunting hill mansion. It is an absolutely beautiful wedding venue for those looking for a romantic, unique, one of a kind wedding surrounded by nature! The stone mansion and gardens offer beautiful photo opts. You do need to be prepared to do everything yourself if you decide to hold your wedding here as it is up to you to coordinate with and hire all outside vendors. Some recommendations for those holding events here: (1) size - the ballroom is gorgeous but I recommend no more than 110 people if you want a good sized dance floor; (2) timing - they are required to stop serving alcohol at 9pm and you must be completely cleared out by 10pm including all decorations etc.; (3) decorations - the venue is so beautiful that you really don't need many, but I do recommend candle centerpieces as it is pretty dark in the ballroom; and (4) transporation - it is not easy to get to and roads are dark and windy, so if in budget highly recommend shuttling guests to the site.

Were very helpful in scheduling the reservation. Other than that, they were fairly hands off. They set up tables in the ballroom for you, but not the chairs. I had given them a floor plan in February for a September wedding, and sent them a revision in late July when our guest list got more concrete. They seemed to ignore the revision I sent, and my fiance and groomsmen handled the adjustments the day of on their own.
Beautiful grounds. I got a LOT of compliments about how amazing the grounds and mansion were. The ballroom felt roomier than my floor plan looked. There's a nice hallway just off the ballroom that's great for buffets. Amazing bridal suite with plenty of mirrors. My photographer said it was the nicest bridal suite she had seen. Decent kitchen according to my caterer. Many places around the building for great photos.

We couldn't have asked for more from a venue...it was beautiful! We had our ceremony outside in the tennis yard, cocktails out back and the reception inside the ballroom. They give you and your vendors the run of the place for the day are are very easy to deal with. I highly recommend having your wedding here.

The Hunting Hill mansion is absolutely gorgeous. However, there were a few issues that I came across during my planning. The mansion claims to seat 150-170 people in the ballroom. I invited 150 guests and 148 of them came! When I went to the mansion two weeks prior to the wedding to have one last look at the ballroom, I was told by a park ranger that with 150 people, there would be no dance floor and space would be an issue. I think this is something they should have mentioned in the paperwork. I ended up having a wonderful caterer who really made great use of the space and we didnt end up having any issues, and the dancefloor was full all night!

This is a beautiful place to have a reception. We loved it. We didn't do a sit down dinner reception. Instead we did a cocktail style with 230 people there. Everything went smoothly and we were able to get everything worked out. It really is a beautiful place for the price.
Here are the problems with the place. The staff and people that work there are not helpful at all. They are very hands off and want to do as little work as possible. They will never call you for anything, except for your deposits. The nice thing is that they are hands off, the problem is if you want them to move something they don't normally move, they won't do it and give you an attitude for asking. They were responsive enough but difficult to work with. We made several request, mainly small and they are not willing to tailor to your needs at all.
Overall it's a great beautiful venue, but since it is owned by the state and have state employees, they don't have to do much work or be very competitive, which allows them to do as little work as possible. Just a warning.

The mansion at Ridley Creek State Park is such a beautiful place for a wedding, our friends and family were blown away by how gorgeous it is! The park is very hands-off, which means you have to coordinate everything yourself, but that's what my husband and I wanted and it worked out perfectly. They will provide a list of vendors that have worked there before, but you're not limited to the ones on the list. The office staff and rangers were wonderful and completely unobtrusive. The thing I like most is that my husband and I can go hang out at the park pretty much whenever we want, and relive memories of our wonderful day!

Ridley Creek is such a beautiful venue -- our guests couldn't say enough about how gorgeous it is! The park administration was a pleasure to work with, and pretty much let us do whatever we wanted on our wedding day (within reason, of course). One thing we really liked about RCSP is that you can choose all your own vendors -- they provide a list of vendors who have previously worked there, but you're not limited to it. It was really nice to have a wide range of caterers to choose from. However, this brings up a point that may appeal to some couples but not to others -- RCSP doesn't coordinate anything, and it's all on you and your vendors. I really liked that they were so hands-off, but I know that some people like all-inclusive venues where everything is provided and taken care of. For us, it was completely worth it to have a stunning venue, to choose everything ourselves, and to be able to go back again and again, whenever we want. We were extremely happy with RCSP, and hope to have another party/event there sometime!

It's the most gorgeous venue I've ever seen! Everyone was so wonderful and helpful and the value for the price is outstanding! It's a little small (max capacity is 150 people), but it's amazing! I'm so glad that I had my reception at Ridley Creek State Park!!!

This was an increddible place to get married! There was so little decorating required for the outdoor areas(our ceremony) and inside the mansion(our reception.) They were SO flexible and helpful. The property is absolutely gorgeous and I would recomend it to anyone looking!

The Hunting Hill Mansion in Ridley Creek State Park was built by the Jeffords family in 1914. The mansion was built around a 1789 Pennsylvania stone farmhouse that forms the core of the building and serves as the reception center. Hunting Hill has a magnificent ballroom that brings about an old world charm like no other and is the perfect spot for a magical wedding reception. You can also have your wedding on the grounds of Ridley Creek State Park, then have your reception in the ballroom afterwards! The ballroom did not have many chairs or tables so we did wind up renting them from our caterer. Please remember that the mansion is old so the electricity is old too. You cannot bring in too many electrical things. We did have a DJ so he was fine but not too many more than that. There is plenty of room for about 180 people with a small dance floor. The mansion also has a kitchen which caterers are free to use but you must remember to book this ahead of time. The park office was very friendly and able to meet all of our requests. From simple to elegant this ballroom is the perfect place for a wedding reception! There is also a piano in the ballroom but guests are asked not to play it. I'm sure a musician could if discussed with the park office ahead of time. Best of all was the value of renting this ballroom. It only cost us $200! Granted it didn't include anything else other than a location but if you go to Ridley Creek and view the Hunting Hill Mansion and its ballroom, you will see that it is worth it!
About Ridley Creek State Park Hunting Hill Mansion
There are three main ceremony sites in the gardens: the upper terrace, which is flat and has a gazebo, the lower terrace, which allows you to have the ceremony on one of the many stone staircases, and the outlook, which is suitable for very small ceremonies. The gardens are terraced down the hill alongside the mansion, and there is a formal garden with a fountain, and another walled-in rose garden.
The ballroom is wood-paneled with a white plaster ceiling, and was just renovated a couple years ago. It has a bay window at either side, and a fireplace alcove in the center. It holds 150 people at its maximum, but if you want a dance floor, about 120 is the largest you could comfortably do. There is a grand staircase with a bay window, and a beautiful and large bridal suite with vanity tables, couches, and folding screens (perfect for pre-wedding photos).
The park allows you to bring any vendor you want, as long as they haven't had a bad experience with the vendor before. They have round banquet tables and banquet chairs available for use indoors, but ceremony chairs for use in the gardens must be rented separately.
