Roman Grinev was a pleasure to work with. His was the first photography studio that I met with when beginning my wedding planning, and knew right away that I needed to look no further. Our photographer was Rachel, and she was a lot of fun to work with, from the planning stages to the actual date. She asked a lot of valuable questions before the wedding, and during the wedding day, I wouldn't have known she was there! We had a lot of fun taking bride and groom photos. I can't wait to see how they turned out, but I have no hesitation that they are amazing!

I could not say enough great things about Roman Grinev Photographer, and in particular, Thomas Wakefield. Thomas was there early and had scouted out some locations for great photos around the church. I have been to many wedding before where you noticed the photographer, I didnt even notice him during the ceremony/reception and I was the bride! He got amazing shots while staying out of the way. He knew what posed pics looked good and we got those as well. When we got the DVDs of the photos I was beyond pleased! I LOVED the photos! I didnt wish he took a picture of something he didnt and I got some really just amazing photos, all thanks to Thomas's creativity. The editing was "picture perfect". We have not yet chosen picture for our album yet because there are too many good ones to pic from. Thanks for amazing memories Thomas!

The photos Napoleon took of our wedding are stunning and as I flip through them, it takes me right back to our wedding day. There wasn't a moment Napoleon missed. Many of our guests commented how friendly and discrete he was. I would highly recommend him and Roman Grinev Photography to anyone.

Rachel was a fantastic photographer for our wedding. She captured fantastic pictures and a ton of them! Honestly, Rachel photographed great interactions between family and friends and yet she was completley unobtrusive. A great, great combination for a photographer. We worked with Thomas Wakefield from Roman Grinev Photography. We really enjoyed having him as our photographer, he was easy to work with, fun, and wasn't in your face like some photogs can be. We haven't gotten our pictures back yet, so this review so far only includes our experience with him, but I know the photos will be great!

Working with Roman Grinev photography was a pleasure. We first met with Roman to go over policies, general wedding photography information, and a review of his available photographers. We chose Jennifer's work after seeing the albums provided, and we asked if we could meet her--Roman said of course and took it upon himself to set up a meeting with all of us a few days later. We knew instantly we'd found our photographer! Jennifer was a sweetheart, we loved her work, and we clicked instantly. She was fabulous at the wedding, and we're thrilled for the impending photographs!

First of all, Roman Grinev's group is extremely affordable, from the photography fees to the album costs. Secondly, Roman made the whole process very easy. We booked more than a year in advance, but he also kept us up-to-date. He has an online payment system that is extremely convenient, and he sent us a friendly reminder about deposit payments. He also sent a form that allows you to let your photographer know the timing of your individual events (bouquet toss, cake cutting, etc.), any little extras, and family photo information. He was very organized and on top of things, which a bride definitely needs!

We had a great experience with Roman's group and look forward to working with them to put together our wedding albums!

Working with Roman Grinev for our wedding was a pleasure. Thomas and Shamus were our photographers and we couldn't have been happier with them both. Not only were they courteous, responsive, and professional, the proofs came back and are wonderful. They captured every moment from getting dressed to the very end of the reception. We had Thomas and Shamus as our photogs for our wedding. They did a great job! They weren't in our faces, and most of the time we didn't even notice them.

Rachel was great. Totally ghost-like in that you didn't notice her, yet she was everywhere. Chose her for her traditional style photography...she was great! Would highly recommend!

Roman is a friendly, funny responsive manager as well as photographer. He has 4 or so photographers working for him. You meet with him once to choose a photographer, by looking through their portfolios. One is not just randomly assigned. A great deal for us is that we will receive all the finished pictures on a disc (many thousand!) included, to print as we wish.
We chose Rachel and I'm so glad we did! She was fantastic! She was completely professional, and acted on any request I made ("can we take a picture with a book?") and made it work! She scouted the site though, and knew the best shots without anyone having to say anything. She was invisible but always present when we wanted her to be! I highly, highly recommend Rachel's cheerful professionalism on your wedding day.

We worked with Thomas and Shamus for our wedding and they both were fantastic. Thomas put me at ease during the getting ready process and was so patient and friendly. They were excellent at giving direction when needed, but also remained unobtrusive throughout the night. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the services they provided.

We did a lot of research and looked into many photographers for our wedding. Roman Grinev Photography seemed like the perfect fit because the pictures we saw looked wonderful and the price was affordable. We just got married yesterday and COULD NOT BE HAPPIER with our photographer experience!! We had Thomas and Shamus for the big day and both were INCREDIBLE. They each went above and beyond what I would expect from a photographer. They were fun and patient with our large bridal party and even helped me with my veil and bustle. I couldn't have asked for more. I would definitely without question recommend Roman Grinev Photography and defiitely recommend Thomas and Shamus. I am so excited to see our pictures! I'd give ten stars rather than five if I could. :)

Jennifer is amazing! She seemed to be everywhere the entire wedding and was very unobtrusive! She is a very sweet person and helped calm my nerves before the ceremony. Also, she was open to any impromptu ideas we had. I am so glad we hired her and I can't wait to see the beautiful photos!!

We used Napolean for our wedding and he was the best! He was involved in everything from people arriving, us getting ready, ceremony, and reception. The pics came out great! They were not all set-up pictures and he really captured the feel of the night. I would recommend to anyone looking for a photographer!

Having seen several friends and family be disappointed by their wedding photographers we decided to do some research and spend a little extra. Roman was great to work with both before and after the wedding. His patience on the day was a hugely calming influence on all the various guests who wanted in on the photos. Roman was worth every penny and we are really happy with the results.

My husband and I were married on 6/10/11 in havre de grace. We met with Roman Grinev back in 2010 to book his services. His aesthetic and that of the photographer we used from his company Thomas Wakfefield was exactly what we were looking for. We wanted the pictures to as much candid images as possible. We were definitely on a budget and wanted to stick with an accredited photographer as oppose to hiring someone who does it part time or is a student. We received great pictures highlighting the night with people dancing and having a great time. Thomas was a dream to work with and was there to get the great moments. We definitely recommend Roman Grinev and Thomas Wakefield for photography services.

I was recommended to Roman from a coworker of mine, and after viewing samples of her wedding photos, I contacted Roman and set up an appointment. Roman was about the 3rd photographer that my husband and I met with, and we were immediately impressed. From the gorgeous quality of the over sized prints hanging from the walls of his studio/office, to the beautiful sample wedding albums, and Roman's very laid back and down-to-earth demeanour, we knew he was the perfect photographer for us. From the day we reserved our wedding date with Roman, to the day of the wedding, he made everything very simple for us (which is extremely important when trying to coordinate your own wedding). Roman worked with us on planning the photography schedule for the day, and on making sure that everything would work within our specified time frame. In fact, we also arrived about 30 minutes ahead of schedule to the reception site, as Roman was able to coordinate everything so well.


When my bridesmaids and I arrived at the church on the day of the wedding, Roman was there to greet our limo, and immediately began shooting. We took a walk around the downtown Baltimore area, for pre-wedding photos, and, I have to tell you, it could not have been a more relaxing way to start off our wedding day. I was able to walk, talk, and laugh with my bridesmaids, in the most laid-back setting, all the while having our photos taken. This scene set the stage for the remainder of the day. During the ceremony and reception, it was almost as if Roman was incognito. We were completely unaware of the camera, and yet, ended up with the most gorgeous photos. Roman surely has a talent for observing the environment and documenting every last detail - from the small details like the flowers and the wedding programs to capturing the look on my husband's face as I walk down the aisle. In addition to covering all of the "key" moments and providing us with wonderful content, Roman was also able to capture our day from every different angle and has a great eye for composition.


All of our photos came out perfectly! In fact, we had a lot of trouble choosing a list of photos for our wedding album, as we have too many favorites - but it's definitely a great problem to have :)

We would highly recommend this photographer! His pricing is so competitive that we were able to have two photographers instead of one, and still stay within our budget. We had Napoleon and Rachel as our photographers, part of the Roman Grinev Photography team. We met with Roman during our initial consultation and he was just what we were looking for: no cheesy editing/photoshopping, classic, candid photos that capture the raw emotions and special moments during the day, and you walk away with the digital files (no obligation to buy prints or albums). Napoleon and Rachel were great on the day of. Showed up early, captured all the details, and they were extremely non-obtrusive. They were everywhere, but nowhere to be seen all at the same time...fabulous! It took a little less than two months to get our photos back, which is record time compared to horror stories I have heard from friends. And, the pictures are AMAZING. We have received so many compliments from family and friends. Thank you Roman, Napoleon, and Rachel for providing us with wonderful, lasting memories!

I chose Thomas to do the photography for my wedding. He was amazing. We had a rather difficult weather conditions to contend with but he managed the whole process very well and we got all of our pictures done outside before it started pouring. He was very nice as well as professional and organized. I would highly recommend this photography company.

Jennifer did an exceptional job photographing my wedding. She did a great job navigating my family, my step-families, and my in-laws and making everyone feel included in the photos. She was unobtrusive during the reception and captured remarkable little moments of the toddlers playing together.

I could not have asked for a better all around experience from Roman and his photography team. The value has blown me away because photography can be so expensive, and with Roman I felt we got more than our money's worth! We met Roman in his studio and were able to look through all of the photographers work before choosing. We were able to get two photographers for our budget! And they were both fantastic. Napoleon was not only a fun person to be around, but he made as all feel so comfortable in front of the camera. He made us laugh and really joined in with the joy of the day. My husband has also raved about Rodney, who followed the groomsman around before the ceremony. They had a grand time! When we got the pictures (first a link to a website and then on CDs) we had almost 1700 and they are all so beautiful and special. They went through and did some post processing but didn't over process the pictures, all of the artistic changes (ie black and white, sepia, color saturation, etc) was done very tastefully and definitely not overdone. I am so proud of these pictures, they were able to capture my day and somehow make them more beautiful than my memories. I would more than recommend this vendor, I am so thankful that I chose them.

We had to plan a wedding on a very tight schedule (less than 3 weeks) and Roamn Grinev Photography was very nice to accomodate us in such short time frame. We did not meet our photographer before the wedding, but quickly became comfortable with him when arrived the morning of our wedding. We had Napolean Martinez and we can't say enough of how impress we were with his professionalism and artistic shots. We are very family oriented, so there were a lot of kids in the wedding and he was so patient with them. He also somehow got to get them to laugh and have a great time, the pictures prove it. We (bride and groom) were extremely nervous and he was able to calm us and get amazing shot. We love love love the pictures and can't thank Napolean enough for forever capturing all the precious moments!

We used Jennifer as our photographer. I met with Roman before deciding and he was very helpful - worked around my schedule to meet with me, had multiple full albums from all the photographers. The day of the wedding, Jennifer was great! I was a little bit nervous because we had never met her before, and my husband and I aren't the spotlight-loving kind, but she was VERY easy to work with. She was on time, unobtrusive and helpful (even with non-photo things --she helped my mom figure out the lobster clasp on my bracelet, she would hand me my train so it wouldn't drag, etc). For the portraits, she gave simple directions that were easy to understand and didn't make us do anything awkward or not "us". She took the initiative if she thought there was cool lighting somewhere. We got photos back in a little less than a month, and they turned out great! Some "artsy" ones, some classic ones, a mix of black and white, sepia, color-- just a really great variety. I think the package is a pretty good value-- you get 7 hours of photography as well as a DVD with all the photos (over 800 of them in our case). Overall I'd highly recommend Roman Grinev Photography for the value, and Jennifer McMenamin in particular if you want spectacular photos (check out her website!)

Photography was very important to us, so we decided to go with Roman Photography after seeing the quality of creative photos when we visited their office. We ended up having Jason do our engagement and wedding photos (so glad we did the engagement shoot, it turned out fabulous) and we had an extra photographer, Rodney, at the wedding. They did a fantastic job. Not only were they nice people to work with, but Jason had so many creative ideas for pictures and took amazing shots of everything, including our flowers, cake, centerpieces, band, etc. Turnaround time on questions and emails was usually less than 24 hours! Thanks Roman, Jason, and Rodney for some amazing memories!

We were married on December 11, 2010, let me start by saying if you still need a photographer let this be your last review. Roman and his team are AMAZING!!!!!! We had Thomas who is as fun to be around and professional as we could have ever wished for. We did both the engagement photos and our wedding with him and I honest to God will never do another important event without him. We had people tell us all evening what a great photographer he was, and when the pictures came in EVERYONE who has seen them says that not only is he a great photographer but an artist as well. They are so reasonably priced it almost a shame, you will not find better quality or better prices anywhere.

Photography was one of the top five priorities for us and we knew we wanted photojournalists to shoot our wedding. We shopped around a lot for photographers and are so glad we found Roman. He is very experienced, has an amazing portfolio, and made us really comfortable when we first met him. We knew we wanted two photographers so Roman suggested Rodney be our second shooter, one of the photographers on his team. Both Roman and Rodney were really wonderful to work with. It isn’t easy to pretend all the time that a photographer isn’t there if you aren’t used to it, but they were both really easy going and joked with us to help us relax. I have a large family and was really worried that the formal family pictures would take a long time and be difficult to arrange everyone, but Roman did an excellent job getting everyone in place and keeping us on schedule. We didn’t give Roman or Rodney a list of must-take pictures, aside from the list of family portraits, but trusted them in their experience to get all pictures of everything from our guests to the details. They didn’t disappoint. My husband, myself, and our families are all amazed by our pro pictures and we know we made an excellent choice in photographers.

I never give a 5.0, this is a a sign of how good they really are.
As you can imagine with a photographer, we were very hesitant to dish out so much money! But from the moment I spoke to Roman I was utterly at ease that it was worth it. After speaking with him, he took almost an hour to explain to me why paying so much was worth it and even though we haven’t seen the pictures we have no doubts. The best part was our photographer, Thomas Wakefield. Roman recommended Thomas to us, and after looking through all five of his company’s photographers we could see why. Thomas was everyone we wanted him to be without us needing to ask. Unlike our DJ, five minutes was all we needed to speak with him and we were so at ease despite our reservations. He showed up an hour and a half early (free of charge) to stake the place out since it was first time at this venue and knew everything and everywhere he wanted to shoot. We were worried because the beach was in bad shape but he had us out on the rocks doing some of the best pictures we had ever seen. He was fun and friendly and we both loved having him around, a welcome break from the family at times. Best part was during dinner, he came and asked for our rings (uh…what?!) which we grudgingly obliged only to have him return with a picture of our rings on the favors in front of the starfish…it was just gorgeous to say the least. I would recommend these guys over anyone and everyone! Price was better, staff was nicer, and the pictures are sure to be breathtaking. He even helped with bustling (or something) the wedding dress which NOONE else knew how to do. Thanks Roman and a million thanks to Thomas.

We had Napoleon as our photographer and could't have been happier. He was very friendly and professional and the photos he took came out amazing. We loved his photojournalistic approach and how all of our photos tell the story of our wedding day. We just received out photos a few days ago and can't stop looking at them! We would definitely recommend him and Roman Grinev Photography!

I loved having Roman and Shamus provide the photography for our wedding! They don't like to use staged or posed pictures. Everything is done naturally, you forget they're even there! Roman even asked if he could stay an extra hour to capture more pictures of our event. I'm truly happy about having used him as our photographer!

Napoleon was my photographer and he did a GREAT job the day of. He was fun and made everyone feel relaxed. Guests even commented to me after the wedding how great they thought he was. He was patient with my in-laws and their multiple picture requests throughout the reception which was nice, and managed to keep out of everyone's way on the dance floor. I will sing his praises to everyone I know! The initial meeting that I had with Roman was easy and he always answered my email questions promptly, which is nice since I'm an out-of-town bride and only had the opportunity for the one meeting. Great experience with this vendor overall!

VERY happy that i went with Roman Grinev Photography for my wedding. Prices were reasonable, hiring/booking was easy and not time consuming, and unlike many other vendors RG Photography didn't hassle/call/email a lot leading up the wedding but covered everything in one or two calls-they left me little to worry about. Thomas Wakefield was my photographer. Not only did he take amazing photos, but he really became a part of the wedding. He listened to what i wanted and went above and beyond in capturing exactly what i had envisioned. I highly recommend Roman Grinev Photography!

We met with Roman and chose Jennifer McMenamin as our photographer and that was a perfect decision! Jennifer was awesome; she was friendly, unobtrusive, and genuinely seemed honored to be a part of our day. What stands out most in my mind a) is her kindness and patience with my family and b) there was a moment when we were about to cut the cake and my husband and I looked at each other with fear in our eyes over what on earth to do with this knife ('um, where do we cut this thing?') and she immediately recognized it and quickly told us what to do. Not to mention, the photos were fabulous :) I would highly recommend her and roman to anyone!

We used Jennifer for our wedding and we are very happy that we did. We were able to see what Jennifer could do at my sister's wedding last year, and it was an easy call to see if we could get her again. She was very professional, and was excellent at getting the right shot. When it came time to the posed photos, she was great at keeping people on track so that the session didn't last longer than it had to. She's got a great eye, and we highly recommend her!

We hired Napoleon to shoot our wedding in Annapolis and we loved him! He was very unobtrusive, even in our tiny hotel rooms as we were getting ready. Plus, he had worked at our location, St. Marys, before so he knew all the rules and the best locations to get a shot. His photos were fabulous- we got close to 1000! Overall very impressed with Roman and his company and I would highly recommend them!

We would recommend Roman Grinev Photography to anyone looking for a photographer for their special event! Our wedding photographer was Thomas Wakefield, and he was absolutely wonderful! He was there with us the whole day taking pictures of our most intimate moments, but not once did we feel awkward with him. And as a plus, he had a sense of humor, which always adds points with me and my husband!

Roman has a background in photojournalism, so he and his staff understand the idea of using pictures to tell a story. After interviewing three other photographers, I was immediately at ease with Roman, due to his extensive knowledge of the industry. I selected Thomas as our photographer after viewing some examples of his work.

I hate getting my photo taken, but loved the photos that Thomas took--he focused more on capturing our guests in their natural state versus imposing forced poses on everyone. He was unobtrusive, yet fun and friendly.

Approximately four weeks after our wedding, we recieved about 800 photos. It was fantastic to re-experience our wedding day through Thomas' eyes (lens). Selecting the 30 photos for our album was a tough decision, because there were so many great pictures to sort through! (definitely not a bad problem to have)

All in all, we are very satisfied with Roman Grinev Photography.

We met with Roman at the Baltimore studio and looked at portfolios and went over pricing. We chose to work with Chris and he was wonderful. We had an excellent experience with this vendor. (We were clearly very lucky!) Chris contacted us before the event and we talked through what we hoped he would capture. The day of the wedding he was fun and energetic - and interacted graciously with all of our relatives and the wedding party. The final pictures were perfectly lovely - all 780 of them - and they put together a lovely DVD slide show as well. We have ordered lots of prints from their online service and are very happy with the quality. Thanks Chris and thanks Roman!

We hired Chris and he did a great job. The guests said that he seemed to be everywhere, taking pictures of everything that was happening, but he was not obtrusive at all.

Highly Recommend Roman Photography! Just received back my wedding photos and they are AMAZING. We worked with Napoleon and he made us feel so comfortable. The quality of the photographs are top notch. Roman worked within our budget and delivered a product that could honestly serve as a cover on a wedding magazine. Best of all, we have over 700 wedding photos on a dvd that we can use however we choose. You will not be dissapointed.

Roman Grinev photography is such a great company to work with. Roman, the face of the company, is very outgoing and willing to work with you to come up with the package that suits you best rather than throw packages at you with frills and stuff that you may not want or need. When talking to Roman, we really thought that the documentary aspect of photography worked best with us. We chose Tom Wakefield at his company to shoot our wedding and our engagement session. Tom was a joy to work with. He is so down to earth and a true professional who helped to calm my nerves during the wedding. We loved the photos from our engagement session and can't wait to see the photos from our wedding.

We chose Thomas Wakefield as our photographer from this studio because we really liked his portfolio. He turned out to be a godsend on the day of the ceremony because he actually stepped in as an impromptu coordinator at times, fielding issues like our marriage license that I had left at home, and answering last minute questions like, "Which tier of the cake are we supposed to cut?" To top it off, our photos came out just stunning. I would highly recommend this studio and especially Thomas to anyone in need of a photographer.

We had Napoleon and he was WONDERFUL! We had such a great experience from the very first meeting with Roman, all the way through to our wedding day. On our wedding day, Napoleon was so accommodating and got all of the pictures we asked for. The best part about him was that we barely noticed that he was there! (Our guests even said the same thing) Overall, I would highly recommend them to photograph your wedding--we will always have their wonderful pictures to remind us of one of the greatest days in our life!

We are extremely happy with Roman Grinev Photography. Both Roman, and the photographer who shot our wedding (Chris Zimmer), were professional, very friendly, and responsive to all of our questions and needs. We loved the photos that Chris took and are so happy that he captured so thoroughly and beautifully our special day. Chris also captured all of the important images without being obtrusive - we barely noticed him! We also felt the cost was very reasonable, and we're happy that we received the digital negatives with full rights to the photos as part of the offered package (while many other photographers were not willing to provide this). All in all, we are very satisfied with the service we received.

Jason was our photographer and he was excellent. Jason patiently waited for my dad to collect our entire side of the family to take a one picture. He captured all the important parts of our wedding and a myriad of little details that I know we'll love to look at in the years ahead.

haven't received the pictures yet , but saw a few on his camera. loved Jason! my wedding was delayed due to rain, but he did a real good job of keeping me laughing and smiling. not obtrusive at all. he blended right into my reception with no problem. guests loved him

We went through twelve photographers first before I finally found the perfect one! I couldn't have asked for anything more. Perfect pictures 100%! Photographer was on time, has a great presonality, asked us what "WE" wanted to do, suggested tons of creative ideas...and we didn't even know he was there half of the time! Thank you Roman and Thomas for being a BIG part of my special day!

We used Roman Grinev photography for our fall wedding. The photographer we decided to go with was Jennifer. We could not have been happier with our decision! She was fantastic! Photography was the one thing we were willing to spend a little extra money on and weren't willing to compromise on. It turns out that we got the best of both worlds. Not only did the photographs turn out wonderful but the price was also very comparable to most other photographers in the area but you got more for your money. A lot of companies don't give the digital proofs to you but we received all of the unmarked proofs and were able to upload and order/print pictures on our own as well as have our families and friends do the same. Most other companies that we looked at wanted as much as $600 extra for the rights to the proofs.
Jennifer was wonderful. She arrived on time and we immediately felt comfortable with her. She was very professional and had a lot of neat ideas for poses and angles. She got great candid shots. We wanted a photojournalistic style where you weren't having to stop and pose every couple minutes and she did great. We barely noticed she was there after the "posed" portraits were taken. The guests all loved her and we received many comments on how she seemed to "be everywhere" and "didn't miss a thing". Everybody has raved about how great the pictures turned out. All in all, we were completely satisfied with our photographer selection and would recommend her to anybody.

We chose Roman because he did our friend's wedding and the pictures were amazing. We paid him extra to travel to New York City, because we knew we were getting quality. We were not dissapointed. He was there on time, very professional, and our pictures were gorgeous. We were very satisfied, and would definitely recommend his services to anybody.

We worked with Napoleon for our wedding, and he was fantastic. He came a couple hours before the ceremony to get the "getting ready" pictures, and he was very fun to have in the hotel with us. He did a great job of keeping me calm, and was also really helpful in letting me and the bridesmaids know if we needed more makeup (since the camera tends to wash you out). Our entire wedding party was very relaxed and had a great time during all the group shots, Napoleon kept us entertained but remained professional throughout the entire day. He was almost invisible during the ceremony and reception, but judging from the pictures, he was actually all over the place! My husband and I had a great experience with Roman Grinev Photography this past January. We live in Winston Salem, North Carolina, but my parents live in Fairfax, Virginia and I wanted to be married back home. Our wedding was on the second of January, 2010. Being out of town, I did a lot of my research on The Knot. This was where I found Roman! He came recommended by them, and from the comments I read through The Knot and also Wedding Wire (which were nothing but great), I decided to set up a consultation. We ended up getting lost and were late, but Roman was very accommodating. He displayed beautiful work in his studio and was extremely thorough with everything from prices to expectations, and also had plenty of work ready to share from albums to slideshows. I ended up going with Napoleon to photograph my wedding because he fit my budget better, but I left feeling extremely comfortable with my decision.
Roman touched based with me periodically before the wedding, and Napoleon spoke to me on the phone a few days before to make sure he knew what I was expecting with the pictures. Napoleon was great! He made everyone feel right at ease and blended in. He took the most gorgeous pictures! He captured all of our emotions from tears of joy, to blissfully happy!
I have nothing but great things to say about Roman and Napoleon. They helped me capture beautiful memories of the best day of my life!

Our wedding was on September 5th and Napoleon was our photographer and he did an amazing job. He worked well with our wedding party and really made the day special. I would definitely recommend him to shoot your wedding.


He worked well with the style of pictures we wanted. We wanted plenty of action shots versus staged and he delivered!! He captured the moment perfectly and after the staged shots, I hardly knew he was there!

Napoleon kept our wedding party on task, which was not easy to do!

The cost was comparable with other vendors in the area and as you can tell from other customers they do an exceptional job

We worked with Napoleon and couldn't be happier. We have over 800 pictures on two disks that almost "tell the story" of our special day. There were some great pictures and he did not miss a moment!

Roman's pictures are fantastic, and we couldn't be happier. We asked him to capture the event and not give us staged photos. We also told him that we didn't want him directing us through the day. He was perfect, and so are the photos. His services were expensive, but worth it.

My husband and I were looking for a photojournalist to photograph our wedding--we wanted someone who would capture all of the big and small moments, but where it wouldn't feel too forced or posed. We found Roman's web site, loved what we saw, and decided to visit his office. He was very flexible with meeting us after work and showed us other couples' albums and slideshows. He was very professional and let us take our time in deciding what we wanted to pick--which photographer of his staff and which package of photographs/albums if any. We selected Chris Zimmer to work with, and he was also very flexible with the timing of our wedding. He called and spoke with us before the wedding to get a feel for what we were looking for and where and when to report. My husband and I were getting ready in two separate hotels before the wedding and also began getting ready before our photography contract was set to start, but Chris came early, on his own accord, and shot us each getting ready separately. The photos themselves are spectacular. We loved all of the moments that he captured. The best part for us is that we didn't even know he was taking most of them. He was great at blending in, which is what we wanted. Most of the shots of the reception were taken in dark settings, but Chris took great photos with amazing lighting--they aren't blown out with a white flash and they aren't dim. Many of our guests commented how great he was and how many photos he was taking throughout the night! We love our photos, and love that Roman sent them to us on CDs (and a slideshow) too so we will always have them. We are still awaiting our album, but anticipate it being great as well!

I just got my proofs last week and I have already received a thousand compliments - the photos Roman took were simply gorgeous! My digital negatives were forwarded within a week from receiving the online proofs - great turaroudn time!

Roman was able to capture some of the most memorable moments of the day and the photos speak volumes to the amazing day we had - the photos truly tell a beautiful story. He was very easy to work with and was ultra responsive - we communicated back and forth on e-mail a lot and he was always very quick to respond. He worked with me to create a package within my budget and his services were completely worth the investment. He even shot our engagment photos twice since the weather was not so great on our originally scheduled day - I don't know of any other vendor who would have done the same thing. I would recommend Roman - hands down!

Roman was wonderful to work with and exceeded our expectations when it came to the final outcome of our wedding photos. We used Thomas for our engagement and wedding photos. We were very happy with the shots he got. Also happy with fast delivery of our wedding photos (high quality format that took up 3 DVDs!). Unlike many photographers, there was no charge to keep the rights to our own photos - a serious plus!

Roman did a beautiful job taking our wedding pictures. The quality of the pictures were absolutely fantastic. Many of our pictures look like they should be in a magazine. I was very satisified with Roman and would definitely recommend him.

Jennifer was fabulous! She was able to capture many wonderful moments during our wedding without us even knowing. We had so many fabulous pictures it was hard to choose! If you are looking for a photojournalist who will document your wedding in a true but beautiful way, look no further. If you are looking for more posed, dramatic pictures or a photographer who puts in more arsty advice/direction on the day of your wedding, you will have to either ask for it or find another photographer.

I had Jason from Roman Grinev Photography as my wedding photographer and was extremely happy with my choice. He was very flexible, and I would highly recommend him to anyone not looking to spend a fortune on a photographer but still wants amazing photos of your big day!

A friend of mine had Roman Grinev photograph her wedding, and she recommended him very highly. We met with Roman and one of the photographers who works for Roman, named Jason, who explained all of their services to us and showed us dozens of their samples. We ended up choosing Jason because his services were more in our budget. On the wedding day, Jason arrived on time and worked very well with our wedding coordinator. During the ceremony and reception he was almost invisible, which I think is rare for a wedding photographer. I've been in weddings where the photographer is totally in the way and obnoxious, but that is not the case with Jason. Jason's pictures turned out being absolutely gorgeous! They are very artistic, unique and special. He was able to take total advantage of every location that we were in, and we have gorgeous pictures as a result.

When I started searching for local wedding photographers I could not believe some of the pricing that I saw. Also, while the photos were stylistically beautiful they did not really capture the pure emotion of the wedding day. Then I found Roman Grinev through an online search and was really attracted to the emotions displayed in their photos. I was able to get a price quote by filling out a simple form on the website and the prices were much more reasonable. I also appreciated how easy it was to get a quote online. After that I quickly set up a meeting in their Annapolis office (which has now been closed but they have ones in DC and Baltimore) to meet with Roman. He was very nice and low key and answered all our questions. The albums were very lovely and I enjoyed their emphasis on photojournalism. I decided that this was the place for me and didn't bother meeting other photographers.

I was able to easily and quickly book them online and always appreciated their quick email responses. I booked Thomas Wakefield; although I had never met Thomas before the engagement shoot, we had a lot of fun taking pictures around various spots in downtown Annapolis. On the wedding day I booked 7 hours of coverage to start after I got ready. Thomas was very good at organizing everyone and kept pictures right on schedule. For many parts of the day I barely even knew he was there capturing all the moments! I got my pictures back within the allotted time frame and they are absolutely gorgeous! We got 700 pictures, some with special effects such as black and white, and they really do capture the day.

I booked this studio based on their photos, pricing, responsiveness, and stellar reviews and would recommend them to anyone looking for photos that truly capture their wedding day.

A photographer was the first thing that we booked as soon as we set our wedding date (even before we found the location!). We met with Roman Grinev and were immediately put at ease by his professionalism and the quality of the photographer's work at the studio. Even better was the fact that the company is carbon-neutral.

We ended up going with photographer Jennifer McMenamin and couldn't be happier with how everything worked out. We were planning the wedding from a different country, and didn't get to met Jennifer until the day of the wedding. That was no problem -- she was just as easygoing as we were, and she slipped in and out of the day's events seamlessly.

The studio has several photographers to work with at different price points, which was nice for us to be able to pick the style we liked as well as what we could afford.

All in all, a fantastic experience; would definitely recommend them to others.

Our experience with Roman Grinev Photography was top notch and our photographer was brilliant. Let me tell you: ALL of our friends and family are amazed at the quality and uniqeness of our wedding photos. The photo-journalistic style is truly the way to go. Everyone looks better when you are natural and not posing for the camera. PLUS, the fact that we get online access AND a DVD with all our photos is way more than what our other friends got. Most of them don't even have any of the pics besides an album, and we have over 800 archived on DVDs. Also, we ordered a magazine style album, leatherbound. It is the most beautiful thing and well worth the money. Overall then, our photography experience with Roman and his photographer's was above and beyond expectations.

I had Napoleon as my photographer. He was an absolute pleasure to work with and gave me exactly what I wanted. I wanted to have as many photos as humanly possible and that is exactly what I got. I didn't want to focus on the traditional family photos and get more candids and that is exactly what Napoleon does. Worth the every penny and they are by far the best priced photography company in the DMV. thank you so much!!

We hired Roman to photograph our wedding. We loved his work and his dry sense of humor. He arrived several hours early to scout out the best locations for shots before and after the ceremony. Roman was so unobstrusive, you hardly noticed he was there. But he made his presence known when he needed to -- which wasn't often. We highly recommend Roman or anyone on his staff. They all appear to do a terrific job!

Wish I could do two reviews, one for our photographer and one for the company.
First our photographer, the amazing Thomas Wakefield. He was perfect! His personality fit right in with my crazy bridal party and he was able to help out when it came to keeping the boys inline and on time. From our conversations on the phone before the wedding to the wedding days itself, he was personable and professional. Thomas also showed up early the day of our wedding for while he had tons of experience at our venue, he had never shot there in the rain. This gave me a chance to talk to him before things got totally insane, which was great! Thomas was a joy to work wish and I highly highly highly recommend him! If it was possible I would give Thomas a 5/5 star rating.
On the flip side working with Roman wasn't always the easiest. We had an issue with mail getting returned and some of the emails he sent weren't the friendliest...he might need to stick to phone calls so that the right tone comes across. We also asked to meet with our photographer before the wedding, preferably at our walk thru but was told he wasn't available. After talking to Thomas it turned out that Roman never asked him, which was somewhat upsetting to hear. Also, since getting married I haven't heard anything from Roman tho I have sent an email. Keeping my fingers crossed that I'll hear something back before we head off to Europe...

We were very pleased with our wedding photography. The pictures were good and I think it was a good value for the price. We also really liked Napoleon and enjoyed spending the day with him. We met with Roman and selected Napoleon to be our photographer, but we felt it was very important to meet the person who was actually going to be doing our photography and spending our entire wedding day with us. Roman told us Napoleon would call us some time before the wedding, but we requested a meeting with him before we would sign the final contract. I think that should be standard rather than a special request. Roman often took a long time to respond to my emails and that was very frustrating to me. There were lots of great candids, but our posed photos were very standard. There were also some photos that we missed or overlooked so I recommend making a physical checklist (ie: we forgot to get a photo with my husband's grandmother) because you manage what posed photos get taken. But as I said, we got a very good value for the price.

I worked with Roman this past September at the Chesapeake Bay Beach Club (CBBC). The first thing that I noticed about him was his professionalism! I engaged in casual conversation with him prior to the event and came across very friendly, humble, and easy to work with. I've been following him on his blog and looking at his pictures, and from my experience with him at the CBBC, I'd say he's a good candidate if you're in the market for a photographer. :)

I've know Roman for years and he's always an absolute pleasure to work with. We've also done many, many weddings with his team of photojournalists and they have all been fantastic!!
