Rosebud Cakes

I just went there to find out more about their service and cakes. I wanted it for our wedding and for a birthday party. Unfortunately, there were no cakes around to purchase, but that's okay. Everyone there was so friendly. I didn't have an appt., and they offered me complementary cake taste. I didn't want to bother them, but they were so nice. They offered me 5 of the popular flavor requests for cake tasting. One of the flavors was banana cake with banana cream filling. I am a person who hates anything banana. So, after reading all these reviews, I'm like, "okay, I hate bananas with a passion, but I will try that piece first." I was so blown away with the first bite, that I intend to order the cake with banana cream and banana cake! Anyone who can make me crave more the banana wins me over. I can't believe how delicious it was!!! The strawberry cake was also to die for. I guess we found our bakery. Hubby-to-be loves banana, and now we can have it!

Our cake from Rosebud was a huge hit - people are still talking about it months later. A lot of places can make a beautiful cake - but it was important to us that our cake do more than look good - it had to taste good too. We tasted several bakeries, and Rosebud came out on top They took time with us and even did a second tasting when we weren't sure about the flavor. We can't wait to go back for our anniversary cake!

Elin at Rosebud Cakes is a master sculptor... she doesn't just make delicious cake she makes beautiful pieces of artwork. I am myself a designer and when I would hear "pick a design from my book" I would scream on the inside!!!!Elin and her team were the first to sit down and design MY wedding cake... not some previous Joe Shmoe's wedding cake. The cake they delivered to me was even more beautiful then I imagined and was delicious.Thank you for being creative and masters at what you do. Oh and by the way, their prices are the same as all of those not-as-good bakeries I visited.

I feel a bit odd giving all five-star reviews, but we were really that happy with everything! I designed our wedding cake with four mismatched tiers - one large "petal" shape, then an oval, then then another petal shape, then a round on top. We wanted "Happily Ever After" piped around, as my husband proposed at Disneyland with "Will you make me happily... ever after?" Our wedding was coral, orange, and yellow, so each tier was a different shade, with white cherry blossoms piped on and our new initials done in frosting. The cake was delivered early, assembled perfectly, and the price was right. For feeding 150 people an INCREDIBLE cake, PLUS a groom's cake, we paid around $1100. Note that you get a discount of 15% (a nice sum on a large order!) if you pay in full in February or July (i.e. for a May wedding, pay the final amount in February.)We did not use fondant because it would have nearly tripled the price, and the cake came out incredible. In case you're curious, we got meyer lemon cake with lemon curd and raspberry puree, chocolate marble with whipped cream and chocolate ganache, and white cake with whipped cream and strawberries (the best!) Note their minimum order is $300, and they are VERY popular in L.A., so if you want them, book fast! For a wedding cake order, they make you a FREE mini cake on your anniversary. :) No more gross year old frozen wedding cake!

Rosebud cakes really are the best! They were so helpful with bringing my ideas to life. Their cakes taste like heaven and they boast an impressive portfolio style wise.

This is by far one of my favorite bakeries EVER... for some of my past birthday cakes, they've made a tiffany box, birthday present, stacks of shoe boxes, just to name a few. The cakes are always delicious and beautiful. My personal favorite is the marble cake with caramel mousse filling and the Most which is sooo decadent.

Rosebud cakes made the most amazing wedding cake for our wedding. We had an idea of what we wanted (we were very flexible though with working with vendors) and no one could make what we wanted, even something not close, a huge dissapointment was going to cost us over $1000. We went to rosebud cakes and they drew up exactly what we were looking for (they can do anything!!) and their prices were totally reasonable compared to other cake places.

on our wedding day i gasped at the cake it was divine, extraordinary, equisite, beyond beautiful, better than i even imagined, and the taste was even fantastic.

**Update** - A small claims judge awarded me my requested 50% refund, and Rosebud Cakes paid the award.

Unfortunately, our experience with Rosebud Cakes was disappointing and unprofessional. 'The last word in original cake design' did not live up to their own standards with our wedding cake, which fell apart immediately upon delivery. Within 30 minutes all of the frosting along the sides had come down and lay in a broken mess. The cake was delivered and placed in the proper spot and no one touched or moved the cake: the banquet captain, the coordinator, and all involved at our venue wouldn't even attempt to fix the falling cake as to un-involve themselves from its collapse. The smaller groom's cake turned out fine, but was not technically difficult as it was a flat, one layer cake.

As a result, it stressed out the bridesmaids and delayed our wedding reception. Worse, we have no cake cutting photos, and we never saw the wedding cake that took so much effort to design. Upon bringing the failure to Rosebud's attention, the attitude of Alan, the manager and co-owner, shocked us. He was rude, defensive, made innumerable excuses as to the condition of the cake, and constantly interrupted and spoke over me. This was after I initiated the conversation by stating how pleased we were the with groom's cake. Even after Rosebud reviewed the ruined cake photos and spoke with our florist and other witnesses, who confirmed that the cake was untouched prior to its falling apart, Alan and Elin continued to deny the faulty cake design and refused any refund, calling our witnesses "liars." Imagine giving a bakery $1700 of business and being treated so poorly.

The only compensation they offered was a gift certificate for another cake. However, our wedding and the wedding cake cannot be "redone." Another cake from Rosebud is the last thing we desire! This review would have been much different had Rosebud assumed responsibility and properly resolved the situation to our satisfaction. We are giving 1 out of 5 stars due to the previously mentioned groom's cake.

Rosebud cakes saved the day! Two - three weeks before our wedding date we didn't have a cake due to horrible communication by the other baker. So, in the panic state that I was in, I called Rosebud who came highly recommended by a friend while I was going through a mini meltdown. To my delightful surprise the first person I spoke with on the phone reassured me that everything would be ok and that they would be able to take care of us. I believed him, but was hesitant...just didn't want to get my hopes up and wanted to be ready for anything. It wasn't until I met with Elin (the owner) the next day that I knew I wouldn't have to worry about a thing. Elin made it all very easy and in 20 minutes flat we were able to choose the cake size, flavors and design as well as a scrumptious tasting of their cakes. She didn't rush me at all, she just knew the right questions to ask and they had all the cake pictures well organized by pricing. I left a very happy bride and with a tummy full of cake! The cake was a hit and absolutely beautiful. It was a classic 4 tiered round cake with all white buttercream frosting. They beautifully incorporated our wedding colors...yellow, black and white. They even contacted our florists to coordinate the flowers, however, wanted to decorate the cake for quality control purposes. They arrived timely and there were no flaws at all on the cake. The best part, is that on your one-year anniversary they will make you a whole new top tier cake of your flavor request. I am so looking forward to it. =)

Rosebud was amazing! I am an out of town bride. They were willing to work with me over the phone and when I dropped in without an appointment. The sample sizes were just the right size. The flavors and the choices were amazing. Our guests loved our cake and we have recommended them to other couples who also had a great wedding cake. I will definitely go back to them!

Rosebud Cakes and Cory made our wedding cake dream come true! We wanted a traditional yet dramatic Chinese design of a dragon and phoenix on our cake. We went to one cake-maker who literally laughed at us. At Rosebud, Cory was instantly intrigued and ended up creating a masterpiece. Plus, it was delicious! We got so many phenomenal comments about the cake. I've already recommended Rosebud to someone who was just as happy, and I would recommend them again, in a heartbeat.

The staff has been so friendly and accommodating. They seem to thoroughly enjoy what they do, which seems to be a rarity in the wedding business! Elin was our contact, and couldn't have been more friendly or accommodating. We did tastings at four other bakeries before Rosebud, and were so disappointed in the quality of their cakes... but Rosebud hooked us right away. The cake was absolutely delicious, the staff wanted to fully understand and accommodate our requests, and their quality of work was just beautiful--especially considering their price points ($4-12 per slice, depending on the complexity of your design).I would choose them again in a heartbeat, and recommend them to anyone.

On a scale of 1 to 10 Rosebud Cakes gets a 10 in our book ! The Oviatt Cake that we ordered from them that was a Art Deco design to go along with the Cicada restuarant venue in downtown Los Angeles was a piece of Art. Our family and friends were amazed and we had nothing but good comments on how unique and pretty it was. We ordered it only 2 months in advance and even though they were booked up with too many deliveries already for our Saturday Wedding they agreed to make it for us and we were able to have our wedding planner pick it up in his car and it traveled fine with no issues. They are on the high side for price but if you want unique and good tasting then Rosebud Cakes is a wonderful choice.We will use them for other occassions in the future.Kevin & Mark ( We had a historical wedding that was perfect )

Rosebuds does an incredible job on creating unique cakes that are delicious too. I will use Rosebud Cakes for every event that requires a cake for as long as they are in business!

Rosebud makes absolutely beautiful cakes. My husband fell in love with their bakery and couldn't imagine having anyone else make our wedding cake. Thankfully the cake is delicious too! We had many guests tell us that they had 2 pieces of cake and even thought about going back for thirds! In fact everyone loved the cake so much that we had hardly any left over!

They are simply the best in creating a wedding cake from style to taste.

Rosebud cakes did a very good job of taking our ideas and being creative to turn the cupcake tower into a really beautiful center piece of our wedding. They incorporated our flowers and colors, as well as making the tower original as requested. We also got to choose great cakes and fillings for our cupcakes. I would definitely recommend them

Working with Rosebud's was a great experience! I had a very specific and intricate cake design in mind and went to countless bakeries for tastings. Rosebud's understood exactly what I wanted and the cake was truly amazing! It was beautiful and so delicious! Many guests commented on the fact that it was the best wedding cake they had ever tasted. They were easy to work with and did a fabulous job. I will definitely go back to Rosebud's for any cakes I need in the future.

Not only did our cake look amazing but it was absolutely delicious. We visited another well known cake vendor prior to our meeting with Rosebud and thought we would try another vendor just in case. We were sold after our tasting with Rosebud’s. Their eye for design and execution was more than we expected. We presented them with an image of a candle and they were able to replicate the intricate design details. We were blown away when we first saw it and our guest did not stop raving about how delicious it was. Our overall experience with them from beginning to end was superb. We highly recommend this vendor.

Rosebud Cakes did an outstanding job on our cake. Not only was it utterly gorgeous, but is was delicious too. What sold us the most was how the cake tasted. Their eye for detail is top notch all the way. I highly recommend!

Our cake was AHHH-MAZE-ING!!! After visiting a couple of different bakeries, we found Rosebud. When we visited the cake studio, we saw them making a cake in the shape of Buddha. It was incredible! We were worried about how much they'd want to charge for a replica of a chocolate fondant Martha Stewart. We were surprised to find that their pricing was very reasonable. We also purchased the cake during their July discount period and saved an additional 15%.

We got 2 tiers of chocolate cake with "The Most" filling (chocolate Bavarian cream, chocolate chips, fudge, and raspberries) and 2 tiers of white cake with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. Everyone loved the cake! I usually hate fondant and went with it just for aesthetics purposes. Their fondant is actually delicious!

I highly recommend Rosebud to anyone looking for a quality, delicious cake at a fairly reasonable price.

Top notch design. If you want a cake to die for this is the place. You will pay for it, NOT cheap but gorgeous and delicious. They custom design for you if you want or you can pick from thousands of photos. Be prepared to spend $7 per slice and up.

Our cake was beautiful and tasted incredible! We did tastings at about 6 places before settling on Rosebuds. They not only had gorgeous designs, and a 15% off July discount, but also great tasting cake! We had a four tiered cake with the bottom layer being the incredible tasting Caramel Cream with marble cake, the second layer lemon cake with lemon and raspberry filling, the third layer was white cake with strawberries and whipped cream, and the top was "The Most" with marble cake. They did a great job, but the only reason I gave them 4 instead of 5 stars was because they had put purple flowers on our cake when we asked for blue. It was somewhat odd looking considering we had no purple at all in our color scheme but it was still a great cake nonetheless!

Our cake was beautiful and arrived in good condition. The only concern was we requested blue or blue with some light lavender in our flowers and gave our cake decorator color swatches to match and we ended up with dark purple flowers on our cake which did not match our color scheme at all. Nonetheless, none of our guests knew and the cake was delicious so it all turned out okay in the end. But I do remember saying to my husband as soon as I saw the cake...do you recall us asking for purple flowers???

I had a great experience with Rosebud. We paid for our cake during their July discount period, and it saved us a lot of money. Our cake was gorgeous and delicious!

I also had Rosebud make a Red Sox themed groom's cake, and it was spectacular!

I can't say anything bad about Rosebud. They had samples available to try the different cake's and fillings. The staff was always kind and patient. They delivered and set up the cake as promised. Everyone who attended the wedding commented on the beauty and originality of the cake. They even gave us a fresh cake for our anniversary so we didn't have to eat a year old piece of cake. I am always proud to be able to recommend Rosebud. Thank you Rosebud!

Rosebuds was the perfect bakery for our wedding. They have so many delicious fillings, and their decorating skills span from simply elegant to amazingly elaborate. They were able to help us gage how big a cake to order, as well, which we really appreciated. Our favorite part was having the top layer custom made for us, complimentary, on our one year anniversary--it was definitely a special touch.
