Saint Clements Castle

I recently got married at Saint Clements Castle. The venue is amazing. More beautiful than you can imagine in person than from pictures online. The staff were unbelievable. The day was perfect, everything was on schedule and as planned. Judy was great while planning the event. I live in AZ so was planning this long distance. She always had fast email replies and answered all my questions. Kate and Justin were GREAT the day of the event. The day couldn't have been better, they were on top of everything and very attentive. The food was amazing as well as all the servers. All of my guests were very impressed with everything and kept complimenting the service and talking about how wonderful everything was. Thank you Judy, Katie and Justin for making my day perfect and so special!

Saint Clement's Castle was undoubtedly the best choice for my wedding reception! From the initial meeting and tour of the castle to packing up my belongings at the end of my reception, the staff was amazingly helpful! They paid so much attention to all the details that really made my day special. Aside from the phenomenal staff, the Castle itself is gorgeous! Saint Clements Castle was the exact venue that I pictured having my reception at. Thank you to the staff for everything!

I wish I could give St. Clement's 5 stars. I was so excited to have my wedding there and had only read and heard wonderful things about the place. But unfortunately we were disappointed on our wedding day for a few reasons. While St. Clement's is an absolutely beautiful place and will blow your guests away, their food does not rise to the occasion. Our friends who had been to weddings there had raved about the food, and we had always been hell-bent on spending a lot on our wedding food to make it perfect. My fiance's filet tasted like it had been grilled ahead of time and microwaved the day of the wedding. It had no flavor AT ALL and tasted like sawdust. My sea bass was cold...not even a little warm. Keep in mind, these are two of their most expensive meals. We spent a lot of money on this food, and many of our guests told us their meals were unacceptable as well. Not to mention the fact that we had went out of our way to bring in Yuengling beer because it's not sold in CT. Our wedding planner knew all about it and had it in her possession two days before the wedding. Yet when cocktail hour was over and we asked for a Yuengling, the bartenders response was "Oh, that's your beer in the basement? No one told us what wedding it was for." My mom also spent extra on 36 bottles of chardonnay that the staff told us at 8pm was sold out. How do 36 bottles of Chardonnay sell out that fast? They don't. I can say that our planner the day of was very helpful and kept me calm and got me whatever I needed. I can also say that our guests were completely wowed by our location. But we were left embarrassed by food that was inadequate and mistakes that could have been avoided. The castle has gone out of its way to investigate our wedding and has apologized over and over again for the mistakes. They've also offered us free tickets to one of their premier events later in the year. But nothing will change what happened on our wedding day.

Pam Marshall was fantastic in coordinating our event. Everything was done for us. The castle is absolutely gorgeous! Everything was great from appetizer to dinner. We had such a great time!!!! Highly recommand!!!

Saint Clements was an amazing location for our ceremony and reception. I loved everything about my wedding! The castle was beautiful, from the gardens to the spacious ballroom. It was absolutely perfect. The staff was very helpful, abundant, well trained, and friendly. We were all treated as if we were royalty. All of our guests thoroughly enjoyed taking pictures around the grounds, and all of the delicious foods and drinks. I would definitely suggest Saint Clements Castle for anyone's wedding. We had absolutely zero complaints. :)

To say that Saint Clements Castle is beautiful is a complete understatement. This venue is the stuff dreams are made from! Pam is the most professional, personable, and organized individual to ever run a wedding site and will ensure that your day goes as smoothly as possible. I simply cannot say enough about this location or the staff, but it and they are complete magic. Simply helped us make it the best day of our lives!

The staff was amazing. The food was fantastic. The set-up at the venue was perfect. There were several places to hang out. If you wanted to dance or be in a quieter place as the evening progressed, there was somewhere for you to be. The coordinator was not in my way at all, but every time I needed something she was right there. I felt like a princess for the day. They were great to work with. Carol responded very quickly and was so accommodating. She was even great with my dad, whether he was complaining about something or just being silly, she always knew the right thing to say. When we were first deciding the menu and looking at extra additions to the cocktail hour, she actually said to me "I really don't think you need to add any extra food. There will be plenty and any extra really might be a waste". She basically said don't waste your money..you don't need to. I couldn't believe she was not trying to make the place more money! I really respected that. I would HIGHLY recommend them. Everything was incredible. They were so organized. The attention to detail was so amazing. Just another example, we had been told my several people to be careful with our gifts and cards. When we asked St Clements about this they said they have a security camera on the gift table all night. One less thing for me to worry about!!! I could not have asked for better people to work with and a more beautiful location. My guests are still raving about my wedding!

Cant say enough great things about this wedding venue. Everything here was perfectly executed the way we had wanted. Very friendly, professional, and easy to communicate with staff. The venue/grounds are very well kept and all my guests were amazed by the true beauty of this venue. Thank you!!!

Carol and Katie at Saint Clements Castle were on top of everything whenever we needed them whether it was months or hours before our wedding. We cannot say enough wonderful things about these people or this venue. We ended up being inside for our ceremony and it was beautiful and intimate. Although our ideal situation would to have been outside, the room we were in was gorgeous and Carol and Katie made the experience just as special. The staff knew what they were doing, the food was delicious and the facility was spotless!

Our wedding at Saint Clements was amazing! What I liked about them from the beginning was that it was one stop shopping and their wedding package included everything we wanted. The pricing there is very competitive to other places we looked at. They referred us to great venders including our minister, DJ, and videographer. We picked the Waterford room which is just a much better ballroom and we had our ceremony there. Lucky for us the weather was perfect. The staff there did everything we asked for and completely met and exceeded our expectations. Many of our guests said it was the best wedding they ever been to. Saint Clements is the best!

We got married on 9/25/11 at St. Clement's Castle. Everything was amazing! The food was so good, the service exceptional and the grounds were gorgeous. The staff at St. Clement's Castle made everything perfect and were very accommodating. It's a gorgeous and unique place to get married. I'm so happy that we got married there.

Saint Clements is not inexpensive, but it is worth every penny. It is a beautiful venue, even in December. Once you sign a contract, you are assigned a wedding planner. My planner, Carol Kelley, was wonderful - always available, always willing to answer questions. Through Saint Clements I got the name of excellent preferred vendors, which was extremely helpful.

Several days before the wedding there is a meeting where all details are reviewed and discussed and the responsibility is handed off from the planner to the wedding coordinator. The transition was handled professionally and seamlessly and the coordinator picked up where the planner left off.

The wedding day went without a hitch. The staff at Saint Clements worked with the various vendors and I never had to give it a second thought. Everything ended up being exactly as planned. In addition to being efficient and professional, the staff when out of their way to make the day special for the bride and groom - every step of the way. Their final act of graciousness was providing us with two pieces of our wedding cake along with forks and best wishes from the staff.

Our guests had a wonderful time. The food was excellent, the service was terrific and the rooms we used - the Art Gallery and Waterford Ballroom were gorgeous.

My only "complaint" or suggestion for improvement was the Saint Clements policy of not having an opportunity to do a "food tasting" prior to the event. I put my faith in the chef and kitchen staff and they came through, but I would have been happier had I known in advance how excellent the...

The Castle gave me the wedding of my dreams. The staff was incredibly professional and efficient. They took care of our every need - some which we didn't even anticipate. From champagne and appetizers in the bridal suite to breaking down our decorations at the end of the evening and packing them up before we even knew it, Katie and her staff were amazing. And working with Pam for the year prior to the big day was a constant support - she answered all of our questions patiently and with ease. The food was incredible, the grounds were stunning and the Christmas decorations were just right. I will cherish the memories the Castle has given us for years and years to come.

Saint Clements was absolutely beautiful! Their staff was super friendly and knowledgeable which made me feel like everything was under control. We had both our ceremony and reception there and eventhough our ceremony was moved due to weather, it was still just as special. The staff came up with 2 back up plans for us! We didn't get a chance to attend any of the events where we could taste the food but everything turned out delicious and really exceeded my expectations.

Flawless! St. Clements Castle was gorgeous, and made the perfect venue. The staff was more than willing, at all times, to help. They were ahead of the game and not invasive while we were with family and friends. Planning was easy and they removed alot of the stress. Even after a hurricane knocked out their power up until the day of our wedding, they were more than prepared. Even at the end of the event, the staff gathered all our stuff just as we had left it, to ensure we left with all our things. Very organized and professional. The venue and the people made our day perfect. Couldn't thank them enough.

The waterford room was everything I wanted and more in a wedding reception. We got married out on the lawn over looking the CT river. The food was AMAZING! and Pam and Katie made sure everything was exactly how I wanted! It was sometimes hard to get a hold of Pam but she always came through when I needed her! Katie helped me the day of and did everything from getting us food/drinks and making sure my aunt was doing the centerpieces correctly! Everything was PERFECT and I could not have asked for a better reception hall. Please choose St Clements because it will be an amazing place to start the rest of your life with your best friend!

Everything was so lovely. The decor, the landscape, food, staff, etc. was all great. Everyone has been talking about how great this place was. The on-site coordinators make everything a breeze.

We could not have chosen a more perfect place for our ceremony and reception on 07/02/11. We worked with Carol as our planner and she was so easy to work with, every phone call was returned promptly and every question was answered quickly. Amy was assigned as our wedding day coordintor and she was amazing. I did not have to worry about where to be or what to do because Amy had everything under control, it was perfect. Absolutely nothing went wrong because everyone at Saint Clements was on the same page, all my husband and I had to do was enjoy our wedding. Highly recommended to anyone looking for the perfect wedding.

The Castle was the best place we could have chose to have our wedding! Carol (our wedding planner) didn't hesitate to answer any of our questions! They were attentive on the day of our wedding to anything we needed - they even had a steamer for my wrinkled dress! The food was outstanding, and everyone came up to my dad, husband, and I and kept on telling us what a gorgeous wedding it was!

They were very accommodating, and really helped to ensure every detail was exactly as I envisioned it. The staff really goes the extra mile. Foos was excellent and the venue is breathtaking...even on a rainy day

We had our wedding at St. Clements Castle and it was AMAZING!!!! We were so amazed at how organized and supportive the staff was on our special day. While I was getting ready in the Bridal suite Katie (our event organizer for the day) came upstairs and said "how are you doing?" I said "I'm nervous" She smiled and said "Want some Champagne?" She was an angel!! They did an excellent job at service for all of our friends and family. People are still talking about how amazing it was to this day!!

Where do I start? The grounds were gorgeous. Our consultant was quick to respond to my questions/concerns. The staff was curtious, professional and made me (the bride) worry-free. I didnt have to take care of anything that day other than being the bride. Because we had a winter wedding we were able to choose our time of day. The food was delish. There was 1 server per 2 tables. Everyone enjoyed themselves & I hope I get to attend someone elses wedding there!

This was the place of my dreams. Everything was perfect!! Everyone was raving about the Castle! So unique and has all the elements any bride could desire! The food was incredible (or so I've been told over and over!). The day of the wedding the staff was so attentive. Just wonderful.

Saint Clements Castle was the perfect place for my wedding. They were willing to help with our table decorations, and guided us through every step of the event so my husband and I didn't have to worry about remembering time lines! The staff was so friendly and so very helpful. The site itself was beautiful, the perfect venue for our masquerade wedding, which resulted in stunning photos. In addition, not only did we receive compliments on the beauty of the reception and ceremony space, everyone loved the food as well! It was truly a fairy tale wedding!

Saint Clement's is simply an amazing place to have a wedding!! Everyone says that something is supposed to go wrong on your wedding day, but NOTHING did on ours! The staff was professional and impeccable, the food was delicious, and the grounds were beautiful! We are still getting compliments. I LOVED my wedding venue. There were just a few hiccups in which the coordinator assigned to me on the night of my wedding was nowhere to be found.

My husband and I walked back up the aisle together after our ceremony and had no idea where to go (would have been nice to have direction). The band accidentally played the wrong song during the announcements into the reception (would have been nice to tell the coordinator, so she could run over, but having the bride running into the reception yelling "Stop the music!" wouldn't have been so beautiful, so we just dealt with it). Our photographer had to show us where the bouquet to throw was located. I felt like my photographer was better informed on the night of the wedding than the wedding coordinator.

That being said, everything else was more than wonderful. Saint Clements is beautiful, the servers were top notch, and everything (other than the coordinator who was by my side -or not - the night of the wedding) was really great. People commented to us that it was the best wedding they have ever been to; and I can't imagine a compliment better than...

We absolutely LOVED Saint Clements Castle. The staff there was the definition of professionalism and the place is absolutely beautiful. Because the venue is a historic building, they do have some lists of what you can/can't do there, but they are very upfront about it from the beginning. Besides those few things, they are very flexible otherwise. Our wedding was perfect and our guests got a kick out of bring at the castle.

My wedding was AMAZING at Saint Clements Castle. They worked hard to make sure everything for my day was perfect. The venue is beautiful, and the staff did everything they could to accommodate everybody, including my grandparents who are limited in their mobility. When I asked to do a few extra things (like giving my grandparents a gift during the reception), Saint Clements made it a special experience for all of us, helping me to make the day memorable for my entire family. I couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else.

Saint Clements completely exceeded our expectations. They couldn't have been any more professional, organized or flexible. The coordinators were calm, collected and responsive. The guests raved about the food and there was plenty of it for sure. Everything went so smoothly and they really put all my worries to rest. All of our unique needs were met and the special touches (like a two slices of cake in a box with a hand written note for the bride and groom to take home) were really appreciated. We had a winter wedding and the decorations they used were beautiful. The unique setting set the perfect mood for our winter wedding celebration and the guests felt warm, comfortable and spirited. An incredible place for sure.

I'm so glad I had my wedding at Saint Clements! For one thing, we still have not stopped receiving compliments on the beauty of the place. It is just SO beautiful; endless picture opportunities! From the moment we arrived, someone was taking care of us, bringing us champagne and food and making sure we had everything we needed. One thing I appreciated greatly was that when it was time for dinner, our Maitre' D immediately brought us our food so we could scarf it down and start visiting our guests. Though the day went by very fast, I know that nothing went wrong. Saint Clements is a beautiful and very professional place for your wedding!

Saint Clements was the first and only place we visited and are so happy that we chose them for our reception. Everyone was very pleasant to work with and the hall and grounds are beautiful. The food was excellent and the presentation was perfect! It is a little pricey but worth every penny. The staff worked very hard o make sure that not only us, but every guest as happy and taken care of. If we had to do it all over again, we would go back to Saint Clements.

I cannot say enough good things about Saint Clements. They REALLY did an incredibly great job. We had Paul as our coordinator the day of our wedding and he was the best. Everything went perfect. They really do make you feel like a king and queen for the day.

This was the best money I spent! I was a little concerned with the cost of the venue, but after considering that not only was the dinner included, but also the cake, and 5 hours of open bar. This alone would have cost me a fortune! The staff was wonderful, personable, and flexible to my needs. They provided myself and my wedding party with a personal servant from the time I got to the castle until I walked out the door at the end of the night. They are amazing and I would highly recommend St. Clements to any bride who wants to be stress free on her wedding day!

A wedding at Saint Clements Castle is a dream come true! I recommend it 100%!!! The staff has been incredibly supportive and helpful throughout the year and on the day of my wedding, they made everything run so smoothly. The staff's priority is to make the bride and groom happy (especially the bride) and do everything possible to make it so. The grounds of Saint Clements are AMAZING!!! Utterly breath taking, and the price per person is right. About $100 per person. I had my dream wedding for sure and will forever remember it as the most amazing day and night of my life!

We had a beautiful May wedding at St. Clements Castle in Portland, and I'm positive that there's nothing I could say that would do this place justice. It is by far the most gorgeous location in CT, and the service and food is impeccable. We had our ceremony in the courtyard, and people kept saying it was like a fairy tale, and I know this is because my fairy godmother (the banquet manager) was behind the scenes making things perfect. They take such good care of everyone, we felt like guests at our own wedding. We didn't have to lift a finger. Our guests enjoyed exploring the grounds, and we are still getting compliments on our choice of venue. This place is 100% worth the money.. cut the flowers from your budget, this place is beautiful enough.

My daughter just had her wedding at St Clements and the guests raves are still coming. The service was the best. The staff finished the assembly on our centerpieces(we made ourselves and could not be transported completed) following exactly what was asked and they were perfect. I thought I would go early to put them together but I was told not to worry, everything would be taken care of and it was. We chose buffet with carving stations and the food was amazing. The food was set around the ballroom not crowded into one spot.The staff served our elderly guest table side freeing family from the task and making them feel special. Nick and Gena 's cake was so different(Winter Spice) that guests asked for seconds. The Art Gallery was so pretty for the ceremony with that fireplace.They offer a winter discount that really helps with cost and the grounds were still beautiful for some outdoor photos. This was the third wedding in our family and St. Clement's was by far the best in service, food and staff attitude. They made us feel that any request would be filled and with a smile.

I knew I would love this place just by looking at the website. After meeting with Pam, my coordinator, I was in love. Not only was Pam able to help me with all of my questions, she didn't think any of my requests were out of reach. Andrea was there on my wedding day and she was always there asking if we needed anything (she would even get us drinks if asked!). They took care of every last detail so that I wouldn't have to worry on my wedding day. The food was awsome, and everyone complemented how wonderful everything was. It is on the expensive side (although we had our wedding on a weekday and were able to save a good portion).

When my husband and I went to Saint Clements Castle for their bridal fair, we just knew this was the place for us to get married. From the time we spoke to Judy to the last second that we were at the site, we experienced nothing but pure professionalism. The food was fantastic, the wait staff was pleasant and accomodating, and our pictures just breath taking. Thank you again to Judy and the staff of Saint Clements Castle for making our wedding day truly a dream come true.

Amazing place! It was the first place we looked at the we fell in love with it AND booked it the same day!! We only had 6 months to plan the wedding and we were able to get Sunday. You can choose one of 2 locations within castle to have your ceremony and ceremony at. Waterford room is more expensive but definitely worth it.
Our coordinator was not very helpful. They changed time of our ceremony oh their own and told us we called and requested the change. They had to send the final contract copy back to them 3 times for them to correct mistakes. Wedding coordinators, (person who you book the wedding through and who collects all the information from you) are not present the day of the wedding, but instead you meet your wedding banquet manager a few days before the wedding) Our wedding banquet manager (person who is coordinating the wedding the day of the wedding) was great - very helpful and nice.
Overall, the place is absolutely amazing and at the end of the day what matter is how everything looked and not the issues you had during planning! Definitely recommend the place but be prepared for some work!

Saint Clements Castle is absolutely gorgeous. One thing that I cannot stress enough is to get out there and check these places out in person, even if they don't look so great online. Don't get me wrong, the pictures on Saint Clements website are nothing short of fantastic. But when we arrived to check the place out in person, we were even more amazed. We were given a tour of the entire facility, with complimentary glasses of wine, and learned all about the Castle's history. The moment we stepped inside, a strong feeling of calm and happiness surrounded us both. At that moment, we both knew that we needed to get married there. And on the day of our wedding, we did not need to worry about a thing. The staff took care of everything and ensured that we remained on our timeline. I do wish that we could have had more time. I believe our reception was one hour shorter than most, which was a bummer. I also think that the price of this venue is extremely steep. But I must admit that it was worth every penny!

Saint Clements gave us the most incredible wedding I could ever have dreamt of. They exceeded ALL expectations! The grounds are incredible- just over the top stunning and breathtaking! Our coordinator, Judy, was so helpful and patient and kind the entire year. Mary, our banquet manager, was professional and on-the-ball organized! I did not have to worry about a thing the whole night, and I didn't!

I cannot rave enough about this place, about the beauty of it, about how it's fit for royalty, and at a great price. It was the wedding beyond my wildest dreams!

As soon as my husband and I met with Pam and had the grand tour we knew we had to have our wedding here. We booked it that day. Our wedding was a complete fairytale. Everything was taken care of up front. They do have some rules about what you can/can't have but they tell you that right in the beginning. We had the most amazing day, Mary took care of everything. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect spot for our special day.

Saint Clements Castle is a beautiful place to have a wedding. Once we toured the grounds we knew we had to have our wedding there. The only issue we had is that SCC recently banned candles so we had to work with our florist to come up with different centerpieces (which tripled our floral budget unexpectedly). The only negative is that our paperwork came with wrong names, dates, dollar amounts, etc and when we asked for this information to be corrected and resent we got some attitude. There are lots of rules on what you can and can't do, but SCC is upfront about this when you sign the contract. The day of our wedding everything went smoothly. We worked with Mary, a banquet manager and she made the day stressless. She tended to every single detail and kept everyone and everything in perfect order. My husband and I were delighted with the attention to detail we received on our day. We just wished the upfront administrative processes were a little smoother.

An amazing venue the site is gorgeous and the landscape is amazing. They are very available to the bride the day of the wedding and bring you what you need and keep you organized. We had a personal waiter on hand after we were married to bring us drinks and appetizers while we were taking pictures. Amazing experience and I think anyone would be happy here!

Absolute amazing service and food, my wedding was perfect!

The staff at Saint Clements Castle were very helpful during the entire planning process.
During the reception, they saw that one of my husbands younger cousins was not eating her pasta and asked if everything was ok. We didn't realize she was just diagnosed with a wheat allergy. They saw that she ordered chicken, which was breaded, and made her a piece of grilled chicken without asking. They also brought her other food to eat during the courses that had wheat. I was impressed.

Absolute, top of the line, perfect service is standard at Saint Clements. There were no variable prices, no haggling, just fair and amazing packages with no strings. We had an amazing wedding reception and ceremony - they ran the show without a hitch - I didn't have to worry about a thing. They took such amazing care of the wedding party. If we so much as dropped a napkin, they were right there to pick it up. They noticed what we were drinking right away - and every time we'd finish or lose a drink, they'd bring us another one without asking. I felt like we didn't miss a thing - while we took pictures on the gorgeous property, two servers followed us to ensure we had drinks and horduvours. Yes, you'll pay a little more, but you get more than your money's worth.
