Sandwiches Salads and Such
Excellent catering service. Very professional, really cares about her catering. A lot of food for the money. Looked wonderful, tasted even more wonderful. Thank you for a great wedding buffet.
I cannot say enough great things about this caterer. It is a small company run by a small woman, but very big on service and professionalism. My mother, grandmother and I went to her kitchen to meet with her and were served tea and pastries. She is marvelous and provided exactly what we wanted. The reception buffet was so beautiful and expensive-looking, but not expensive really. The salads and sandwiches were served on silver trays and glass bowls and looked lovely. Everything was very delicious and we had many many comments on how special it all was. We would use her again.

Thank you, Allie for your wonderful review. I cannot tell you how pleased I am that you were satisfied with the catering services you received from Sandwiches Salads and Such. My best to you.
We loved Sandwiches Salads and Such. I attended a wedding that they catered a year before my own and decided then that I wanted to use them. The buffet table was absolutely lovely and the finger sandwiches and salads were fresh and delicious. Her prices are very very reasonable, which is important.
The caterers kept the buffet table filled and filled coffee and tea for our elder guests (not expected).
Micki Wood stays on top of everything, and you just know she needs to see it's all being done to her standards. They left the banquet hall cleaner than they found it and sent the leftovers home with my parents.
We definitely recommend them.

How long have you been in the catering business?
My very first catering job was for my soon-to-be sister in law's Bridal Shower. That was 25 years ago and I'm still loving every second of it.
Why do you only cater one wedding per day?
Very simple. Sandwiches Salads and Such is a small business which I run out of my own kitchen and I insist on being present for each buffet served and overseeing every single detail PERSONALLY. I simply could not do that if I committed to more than one event per day.
What if there is food leftover after the event? Do I get to keep it?
You sure do....you paid for it.
What in the world is "minced" roast beef (as in the Sumptuous Salads & Sandwiches Buffet)?
I get this question all the time! This was one of my mother's recipes. She developed it as a way to be creative with leftover pot roast The roast beef is very finely chopped - I mean very finely, almost like a pate' - then fresh herbs and a small amount of butter are added and it becomes a hearty and surprisingly delicious sandwich filling. Even finicky eaters and children really love it.
What are "Endive Boats"?
Another very popular question. Belgian Endive (some people pronounce it "Ahn-deeve") is a type of small lettuce which grows in long, slender, pointed leaves. When the leaves are separated they look like boats, or canoes.....perfect for filling with a tasty salad. Very, very pretty.
How can cheesecake be savory (as in Savory Herbed Cheesecake Bites from the Lavish Buffet of Hors d'oeuvres)?
Yes, cheesecake is usually a sweet dessert, but in this case it is a combination of cream cheese, goat cheese, eggs, fresh herbs and spices (no sugar here) and baked up in buttery crusts. Very unusual, very pretty, a genuine treat.
What are "Pecan Tassies" (from the Sumptuous Salads & Sandwiches Buffet)?
Pecan Pie is a real southern classic, and I bring it to you in "mini" form. The gooey, rich filling everyone loves is topped with chopped pecans and it all is baked in buttery pastry crusts. Always a crowd pleaser.
Who is "Grandmother Dora" (as in Grandmother Dora's Potato Salad) and is she a real person?
You wouldn't believe how many people ask me this after tasting the potato salad. Yes, she was real - she was my paternal grandmother. Grandmother Dora lived her entire life in Greene County Indiana and raised 7 children during the Great Depression. There were no jobs; no money for toys, new shoes or clothes, but there was the family farm and garden from which she fed her household the beef, pork, poultry, fresh and home-canned vegetables which sustained them through the hard times. Feeding her young ones was the only gift she could give them, so she really made sure it counted. Everything about cooking and baking I learned from her impressed upon me the importance of using the best and freshest ingredients, taking the necessary time to do things right, and to always incorporate her most important ingredient - lots of love.
Do you ever share your recipes?
Yes, I do. If you ask for one, I will share it with you during or after the event.
Why don't you use real china and "glass" glasses?
I'd love to be able to bring beautiful china plates, real silverware, and crystal stemware to your event. The honest reason I don't is so that I can keep your costs down by not having to pay someone to load and unload them, and wash them. I make up for this by serving your buffet with my antique and vintage silver and crystal trays, platters, bowls, and utensils. The plastic ware I bring at no extra cost to you is very pretty and looks lovely on the buffet. Also, I prefer to focus on the food not the wares. You can certainly rent china, flatware, and stemware to use yourself if you choose to. I suggest Southside Rental Company in Bloomington. They are really good folks and have just about anything you could possibly want.
I want the "Casual Party Buffet" for my wedding, but it's not on the Wedding Menu list. Can I have that?
Of course you can. These menu ideas aren't set in stone, they are only suggestions.
What are the largest and smallest events you will cater?
No event is too small nor too large.
Do you charge sales tax and how is it figured?
As required by law, I must charge my clients the Indiana State Sales tax of 7% of the total of each order.
Are you insured and bonded?
Yes, I am.
How do I pay you?
When it is time to make payment, I will either:
1) Send you an invoice via Paypal where you may pay using a Debit/Credit card or your bank account (a Paypal account is not needed to do so)
2) Send you an invoice in the Postal Mail from which you may remit a cashier's or corporate check
3) Accept cash as payment
It's your preference. Please read more about payments on our Policies page of the website @ http://www.ssandsuch.com/policies.html
Sandwiches Salads and Such welcomes the opportunity to serve you! I pride myself in being able to meet everyone's catering needs. In order to successfully respond to your needs and better serve your event, the following policies and procedures apply to all catering services.
Sandwiches Salads and Such, Inc. does not charge a staffing, set-up, service, or clean-up fee. I specialize in off site catering and the expenses incurred providing you and your guests with a sumptuous and elegant light fare buffet are included in the per-person prices. We arrive at your facility prepared to please your eyes and taste buds and leave your facility the way we found it. Call me old-fashioned - but I believe in service, not fine print.
When I and my staff serve your buffet, your table will be laid with my antique and vintage silver and crystal trays, serving bowls, and platters. I DO provide white paper napkins, clear plastic dinner-sized plates, clear plastic glasses, and silver-look plastic forks at no extra cost. I provide my own tables if necessary, as well as my own white tablecloths and table skirts (not plastic). I use candles perched on antique silver candle holders and will happily leave a special place for your flower arrangement(s), if you wish...just let me know. My professional staff and I will attend the buffet and replenish the fare as needed.
An estimated number of guests is needed 7 days prior to the event. A guaranteed number of guests is required 3 business days before the event. The amount of food we prepare and the bill you receive is based on this number. I created this policy to ensure that no guest goes un-served. Neither you nor I wish to endure that embarrassment.
Payment and Deposits
I need a deposit to confirm any event.

Self Catering/Pick Up Service
I require 48 hours notice to prepare Party Trays. These items will be presented on disposable plastic trays with covers, suitable for placing directly on your serving table. I do NOT provide napkins, plates, or forks with Self Catering Party Trays (in order to keep the prices down for you).
My buffet attendees do not directly accept tips. However, if you feel your experience was exceptional (and I hear that a lot!) you may certainly add a gratuity onto your final bill. It will be divided evenly among those who worked your event.
I understand you may have a desire for something not listed within our regular menus or services. I am always eager to accommodate your wishes and will do so to the best of my abilities. Let me know what's needed and we'll work it out.
