Uyen was wonderful and calming as our Day of Coordinator for our July 2007 wedding. She was so sweet but very firm and always came up with the questions to ask that I would have never thought of! She handled everything with professionalism (esp. considering we had a ton of little mishaps that weren't her fault and couldn't have been prevented). My only wish was that we had used some of our wasted floral budget to use to hire her for a full on wedding coordinator. I'm sure she would've done an amazing job had we been able to have more time planning with her! I highly recommend Uyen and Make It An Event!

I hired Uyen as a "week of" coordinator for my wedding, but she definitely went above and beyond throughout the whole planning process. Her wealth of experience and expertise was a huge resource and comfort from the start. In addition, she was always easily accessible and open to answering questions, offering several great vendor suggestions, reviewing vendor contracts, giving tips on negotiating, meeting with the reception catering staff and ceremony site staff several times before the week of the wedding, and keeping track of our payment schedule. She's extremely organized, meticulous, hard-working, and most importantly, a very warm, giving person.

We planned a southern California wedding from the East Coast, with a lot of different elements/events to it, and I really don't think it would've been such a success without her help and enthusiasm. She ensured our ideas were carried out well and along the way helped us improve and add to them also. On the day of the wedding, all we had to do was enjoy the day. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend her services to anyone planning an event!

I worked with Uyen recently at the Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach. She did a fantastic job, working very unobtrusively with all of the vendors to pull off a great wedding. The reception room looked perfect (lighting, linens, floral, etc.), she was always calm, she took care of everyone, her assistant was equally as unobtrusive and helpful. We hired Uyen to be our wedding coordinator 6 months prior to our wedding. we were a bit hestitant to hire a wedding coordinator but i am glad we did. Our wedding was in at the Ebell of Los Angeles in LA. There was no way we would have planned our wedding successfully from the Bay Area with out Uyen's help. Uyen is very thorough, very responsive and very calm. thanks to Uyen and all of our vendors, our ceremony room, lounge room and recption room turned out stunning.

Uyen is simply an amazing superwoman! A lot of people were confused about why I was so adamant about hiring a day-of coordinator, but I really didn't want to be stressing out the day of the wedding. From reviews, actually from Project Wedding and other sites, I chose a few vendors to contact. Many wouldn't even really meet with me since I hadn't found a venue yet. Not only did Uyen meet with me & my fiancee, but she came super prepared, and we just all clicked, chatting about tons of things and feeling totally at ease with her. Even though we only hired her as a "week-of" coordinator, she was always so quick to respond to my questions through email during the whole planning process and when I started getting stressed, she just calmed me down and told me everything was going to be ok.

Towards the end of the planning process, with all the DIY elements, vendors, and logistics, not to mention tons of last-minute things popping up, we were frazzled to say the least. We met with Uyen at our venue to go over everything and afterwards, my fiancee commented to me that he felt so relaxed afterwards, like "everything was going to be ok."

When I got there the day of the wedding everything was already set-up perfectly and I just thoroughly enjoyed the whole entire day knowing that my wedding was in GREAT hands. I know we had some technical glitches & our schedule was a bit thrown off but I really didn't notice anything beyond getting married to the love of my life and having a big party with family and friends. Every time someone asked me something, I would just smile and say, "Uyen's got it under control." My whole family loved her and she was so sweet to everyone. I know she worked super hard but you could never tell because she always had this big genuine smile on her face.

I really think of Uyen as more of a friend than just a coordinator. She is amazing and I would recommend her to anyone!

After corresponding with Uyen via email a few times regarding her coordination services, my fiance and I decided to meet her in-person. When we first met her, she put us immediately at ease. At the end of our meeting, we decided to go with Uyen for the Week-Of Coordination Package. Uyen is consistent and incredibly dependable. You can always count on her to be there at a scheduled appointment on time and answer all your questions in a timely manner. During the months before the wedding, I must have written her a hundred emails or more asking her for recommendations for specific vendors, or color choices for the table linens or umbrellas, etc. Given I only had a few months to plan before the wedding, I really appreciated the fact that Uyen always took the time to answer my emails and always provided very thoughtful responses, despite her busy schedule during the wedding season. She really knows her stuff! She reviewed all my contracts and gave me reminders of when I had to pay my balances. For vendors I have not hired yet, she would let me know what the reasonable price ranges I should shoot for are. I thought I was a pretty organized bride to begin with, but after hiring Uyen, I realized there were many things I have not even considered. I loved having Uyen there! She's one of the sweetest people I've ever met. I highly recommend you go with Uyen, whether you want a lot or a little help. You can't have your wedding without her!

Uyen was a fantastic day-of coordinator. She took care of all of the big and little issues of the day, and her team made sure that all of my plans were carried out. I was hesitant to even hire her at all because I wasn't sure of the expense of having a coordinator, but I am so glad I did because she really took over and made it so I didn't have to worry about a thing. I would highly highly recommend her!

After my first meeting with Uyen, I knew I had found my wedding coordinator.
Indian weddings are multiple days of mass confusion and ceremonies on top of ceremonies. I did a lot of research and interviews to meet a coordinator that I could click with—and I am so thankful that I met Uyen. She is an amazing coordinator handling everything perfectly and truly a master mind in putting our wedding together so beautifully.

All of our relatives from across the globe raved about her. There is no way that we could have planned such a flawless and beautiful event without Uyen by our side.

She was super organized and always prepared. She was very creative and always made the best suggestions. She asked potential questions and issues that I had not even considered. She responds to my all my endless emails quickly. She negotiated well and was very trust worthy. I cannot rave enough about her. I can make a HUGE list of all the ways that Uyen is amazing, but honestly, there are not enough words to describe her. She is not just a coordinator, she is a friend: someone who has your back, who helps you put everything together, someone who will be your partner in coordinating everything.

To be truthful, at the start, my fiancé refused to hire a coordinator because he thought it was a “waste of money”. I really had to twist his arm to cave in, but the first words he said to me as we left the wedding was: “Good call on hiring Uyen, best decision.” Ha ha. At least he learns quickly, “the wifey is always right!!”

Despite the hours planning and planning, there are always things that will come up on your day. Thankfully, with a competent coordinator like Uyen, you will never know about the behind-the-scenes drama and problems, and be able to focus on what is important—enjoying the day and cherishing the moment.

With this in mind, for any bride searching for a coordinator, my husband and I (and our families) highly recommend Uyen.

I can't say it enough!!! Uyen and her team are on it!!! I am a very anal person and she helped me through the whole year with my crazy family and seven worthless bridesmaids. LOL I'm the girl that takes care of the planning with my friends and family. So when I met Uyen I knew right away that we had a lot in common and I could trust her. The year flew by and thousands of e-mails later. I had no worries that the wedding was going to turn out perfect and I was relying on someone that had the same standards as me. We hired Uyen and the sassygirlwedding team to be our full-service coordinator and event planner because I was a full-time graduate student. Uyen's greatest strength is that she is positive, fun and upbeat...but also has an amazing calming affect on others. I was super frazzled by family obligations but every time I spoke with her I felt reassured and calm. Vendors were absolutely bending backwards to make her happy because she is the rare planner that treats people with absolute respect. Another great trait is her absolute reliability and professionalism. She absolutely returns calls and emails immediately or within a few hours which is very reassuring for a frazzled bride. Finally, her flexibility and creativity.

My wedding was in the beautiful Dove Canyon Country club and we had a peacock theme. It was a Persian Aghd Ceremony and an American reception. She had never done a Persian wedding before and I don't even want to begin talking about how difficult to do a tasteful peacock wedding. But somehow the Sassy team pulled it off so well, that even my super picky Persian mother was happy. Not an easy feat by any means!

The guests that attended my wedding said that it was the most creative, beautiful, and fun wedding that they have ever been too. I have to say that is the best affirmation. But truly, the best part of the day was that I DID NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ANYTHING BUT ENJOYING MYSELF. Can you ask for more?

Uyen was fabulous day of coordinator. Hiring her as our coordinator was probably one of the best decisions we made in wedding planning. Uyen is extremely detail oriented, organized, and hard working. She was also very prompt in her responses in answering the many questions we had leading up to the day. First, please let me begin by giving my zealous, unequivocal recommendation of Sassy Girl Weddings and Events! Hiring Sassy Girl Weddings and Events was the absolute best money we spent on our wedding!

We hired Sassy Girl Weddings and Events for full service wedding planning, design, and coordination in July of 2009. We spent a few weeks negotiating the terms of service with Uyen Nguyen (owner and designer of Sassy Girl Weddings and Events). Uyen was an amazing listener, always incorporating the items important to us. We felt secure in Uyen’s capable hands. In the months leading up to our wedding on May 24, 2009, Uyen was truly a blessing in our lives. As my husband and I were planning a multi-cultural, So. Cal wedding from No. Cal, Uyen was our eyes and ears – making excellent vendor recommendations, doing preliminary screening and vendor visits, and ensuring that all contracts were in good form (with appropriate price negotiation) before even presenting the contract to my husband and myself.

Uyen ensured that all of our wedding desires (both specific wishes and ‘conceptual’ wishes) were incorporated flawlessly into our wedding. She was able to execute all of these details perfectly as a result of (a) her ability to listen and ask necessary questions, (b) her amazingly prompt response time to inquiries (including late night e-mail musings about the ‘splash of red’ to be incorporated into the black and white theme and the Armenian text to be added to the wedding invitations and stationary), (c) her utter professionalism and great relationships (and mutual respect) with her suggested vendors, (d) her unending patience (but also no B.S. attitude), (e) her willingness to go that extra mile for her clients, (f) her easy-going, humorous, positive, and upbeat personality, (g) her keen eye for detail and amazing organizational capabilities, (h) her natural leader instincts, (i) her amazing capabilities and aptitude as a designer, and (j) her savvy business skills and intelligence. I will openly admit that I can be a difficult person to work with at times and never once did Uyen respond to me in a negative manner.

Uyen was truly grace under fire for the rehearsal and day-of coordination. Many people came to me after the wedding and spoke to me about how wonderful she was in ensuring the proper flow of everything. Also, family and friends commented on her cool composure and ability to deal with a few ‘sticky’ situations in a professional, appropriate manner. Interestingly, neither myself (as the bride) nor my husband knew any of these behind-the-scenes “issues” were occurring until after the fact, as Uyen took great care to not burden or stress us (or allow anyone else – friend, family, or vendor to do so)!

Sassy Girl Weddings and Events made all aspects of our wedding truly unique, memorable, and flawless – from the rehearsal dinner to the post-wedding clean-up….everything went off even better and more amazingly than my husband and I had ever dreamed possible. Thanks to Sassy Girl Weddings and Events we truly had an amazing, unique, memorable, fairytale wedding! In fact, one recently engaged woman at our wedding said that nobody who had attended our wedding would be allowed to come to her wedding as nobody’s wedding could never possibly live up to what Uyen had put together!

I knew Uyen was going to plan our wedding even before meeting her! She was so personal, detailed and organized during out initial email conversations - I had the deposit check written out and signed the contract on the spot. We did an extended engagement, giving me almost a year and a half to work with Uyen and I have to say she was nothing but fabulous through out the entire process! From the planning, creativity, vendor selection (Uyen has an amazing network of vendors), logistics to the rehersal and day of and post reception logistics....Uyen was just incredible!

I hired Make It An Event to do all of the work for my wedding, and it was the best gift I could have given myself. From the first day that I met Uyen, we clicked and I knew that everything would be perfect. She was always there to help at a moment's notice and was there to defend and look out for us every step of the way. We were on a pretty strict budget, so Uyen made tons of suggestions on where and how to save yet not compromise the look and feel of the event. She negotiated with every vendor and because of her knowledge and attention to details (esp. with contracts), she saved us so much money, time, and headaches. The final product was amazing! now - Sassy Girl Weddings! Uyen is designing my wedding with me now, and I never expected this to be so much fun. The designs that she came up with are going to be so beautiful, unique, and striking! Plus, she has made suggestions for mini 'events' throughout the night to keep everyone entertained. Really creative and so helpful. I don't know what I'd do without her!

I can't imagine my wedding without Uyen! We had just 2 months and tons of IF's and BUT's to consider before our July 28, 2007 wedding. We hired her on hourly basis first but just after the first meeting I bugged my fiance (now hubby) to hire her full time and oh boy we are glad we did. Considering the elaborate Indian traditions, she came up with unique solutions and introduced us to other amazing vendors (read beautiful photographs, modern floral decoration and yummy cake) which made the wedding so memorable. All I can say is if she made it possible for us in just under 2 months, from finding a venue to handling all the mishaps on that day, she can do wonders to any wedding! She totally helped us have a modern and simple yet traditonal Indian wedding. Love her work, her efforts and her : )

Uyen is the most amazing wedding coordinator EVER. I’ve heard from many other brides what a drag it was to plan their wedding and how glad they are it’s all over. Well that definitely DOES NOT apply to us. We had a blast planning our wedding with Uyen. We were actually sad it was over. Not only was Uyen fun, she was SUPER organized, very very creative, great negotiating skills (the best I ever seen), prompt, great scheduling skills, great improvising, trust worthy, I can keep going on with how great she is. Our wedding was beyond perfect and we know that without you this would have never happened. You are our perfect wedding planner and we would recommend you in a heart beat. Oh and just to let everyone know, I let Uyen design my cake and it was unbelievably gorgeous. We all LOVE Uyen so very much for everything she did for us. You can’t go wrong with Make It An Event. We are both organized but we knew that we needed someone to help with the wedding. After speaking to three different vendors we realized there was way more detail then we thought and we needed more help. Due to our tight budget we hired Uyen for only a week of service. However, she went beyond that by helping us along the way, reviewing our contracts, recommending vendors and making sure we were on schedule. The day of our wedding was smooth and easy. Everyone commented on what a calm bride I was, but in reality, it was because we had Uyen on our side and we didn’t have to worry about anything. There wasn’t any point in the day we had to ask about anything, we just went with it. Our friends were so impressed by her work and her utility belt; they started referring to her as the Wedding Woman.

Uyen was amazing! She's so great to work with and really catered to our needs. She worked very hard to keep things within our budget, but the day of the wedding, everything looked like we had no budget!! Everyone raved about how beautiful everything looked (especially our flowers), and all of that was due to Uyen's vendor suggestions. I can easily say that the money we spent on Uyen's services was money very well spent. She helped make our wedding day even better than either one of us imagined. Uyen is very detail-oriented and organized, which made the wedding planning process as stress-free as it could be. With her in charge, we never once stressed about how the wedding would turn out. We knew we were in good hands! Uyen attended to even the tiniest of details to make everything perfect. After talking to her almost every day for 9 months, I will definitely miss working with her.

I decided to call her and check her out. She was so helpful and fun to talk to - long story short - I booked her for my Dec. wedding! She jumped right in and immediately started brainstorming and sending things to me to check out. I'm loving it already. :D

I originally thought that a wedding planner was probably unnecessary. However, my experience with Uyen has changed my mind. Uyen always quickly responded to my questions and she coordinated with all of the service providers (lighting, caterer, restrooms, valet, DJ, etc.) so that we had the details worked out in advance and everyone showed up on time. Uyen has access to great service providers and was also happy to work with any other provider that we wanted to use. She was professional and a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend her.

Amazing doesn't even begin to describe Uyen. She is the BEST. Just the best. From the moment we met Uyen treated me as if I were her only client. Every email (I mean every single one, and we exchanged well over 200) was answered within an hour. I'm not kidding. This woman is incredibly responsive. I love her. She is also insanely creative, funny, organized, easy to work with, kind, generous, understanding, calm...did I mention responsive? =) I hired Uyen as a full package planner. We pretty much knew which location we wanted, but just to humor us Uyen started off by taking us to a few places we hadn't considered. Ultimately we decided to go with the place we had found before we contacted Uyen, and she did an incredible job. My wedding was PERFECT. I literally have no complaints (other than that I didn't get to eat enough but that was my fault). If anything went wrong I do not know about it, which is pretty much the same as nothing going wrong at all. The minute I get my pictures back I'm emailing them all to Uyen so she can put them on her website. People need to see what I'm talking about. Everything was gorgeous. From the flowers, to the linens, the lighting..just gorgeous. Uyen helped me work through so many decisions and was incredibly knowledgable and helpful so that in the end, most of my decisions were easy. She helped me with my budget so that I maximized every dollar I spent. While most people think that a wedding planner may be out of their budget, I have to insist that they contact Uyen. Her prices were incredibly reasonable for the amount of time and effort she spent helping me. I am a full time practicing attorney (the kind that doesn't make as much $$ as you would think!) and I have a 2 hour commute everyday. I had such little time to plan a wedding and Uyen was indespensible. For 10 weeks before my wedding I was engaged in back to back trials and had almost zero time to commit to anything wedding related. Naturally I was at first panicked that I wouldn't be able to attend to any last minute details, but knowing that Uyen was there really helped put me at ease. Any small thing that came my way I just sent to her and she took care of it. I had multiple emails from my guests requesting special meals because of thier allergies and dietary restrictions. Uyen took care of everyone. I am so grateful that she was with me every step of this process. I cannot imagine having done any of it without her. Not only is she a MAGICIAN of incredible weddings, she is one of the nicest people I have ever met. I got married 9 days ago, and I already miss her! I wish this review had more than five stars because she honestly deserves at least twenty. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Uyen!

Uyen of Sassy Girl Weddings & Events was purely, supremely AWESOME for our wedding. She was so incredible, in fact, that our friends, after hearing about how great she was, furiously fired their own wedding planners who couldn't compare, yet cost so much more! By the time I found Uyen, I had already interviewed several other planners. They were all nice, but none of them had the drive, creativity, and responsiveness that Uyen had. I still remember a whole year ago, I sent in a request through her website and within 1 hour, she wrote me 5-6 pages of ideas for my wedding with such minimal input. Her ideas were beautiful, classy, and very budget-friendly. She made my long distance wedding planning from Portland a real breeze. She looked over every contract (we used the full service) and even spent hours going over how to fill out one contract with a very particular, strict venue. She is also so well connected that we were able to get discounts and special attention from vendors and even the park rangers at our venue. Not only is Uyen one of the most resourceful people I know, her attention to detail is unparalleled. Our wedding, as complicated as it was to set up in an estate setting went without a single hitch! She's also a very thoughtful person--she recognized my birthday and other important milesones and would send me little encouraging e-mails to help me from stressing out. At times, I felt that she was more like a bridesmaid than a wedding planner. I was really sad to say goodbye to her at the end of my wedding, actually, and I felt that we had a true friendship by the end of this process. My wedding was so much better than I dreamed it would be. I'm a super anal person, being in the medical profession, and I felt like I finally met my match. I could count on Uyen because she was on top of everything and there was no detail that would slip through the cracks. She was also very prompt and speedy in her reply emails. I must've emailed her a million times throughout the process and every single one was attended to within a span of 24 hours. I had my dream venue, dream ceremony, and we got to incorporate plenty of our personal touches that our guests really picked up on. My husband and I have already referred our friends to Uyen because we are SO confident in her skills. Uyen referred to us the BEST photographers ever, that not only made us look like we stepped out of a magazine, but had amazing character and charisma. She deals with other vendors with utmost professionalism and tact. We had a slight issue with the limo driver and she was very quick to give them feedback right away. It's actually hard for me to believe that she was working on other couples' weddings at the same time because I felt that she invested 110% of her time and energy into ours alone!If I could get married again, which I hope I never will, I would do it all over with Uyen. She was honestly the best wedding planner and I would send every single one of my engaged friends to her. You will definitely love having Uyen Nguyen of Sassy Girl Weddings as your wedding planner. We consider ourselves lucky that she was available on our wedding weekend. She will NOT let you down!!!

I am so glad that I hired Uyen as my wedding coordinator! At first I wasn't going to hire one, since I had already picked my venue and photographer and didn't want to spend extra money on wedding planning. As time went by, I realized I really could use an expert opinion and someone to look out for me on the actual wedding day. Uyen came all the way to Torrance to meet with me before I even signed with her. She talked over ideas and gave me tons of valuable information. I could see what a responsible and sharp-minded person she was - just the kind of person I would want handling things for me.I signed up for a partial planning package, so Uyen helped me with the caterer and florist. I also got her recommendations and advice with most of my other vendors (makeup and hair, DJ, rentals). Sometimes I was uncertain about some vendors, but I trusted Uyen's opinions and it worked out. Moments I was ESPECIALLY glad I hired Uyen: 1. During the wedding rehearsal, when Uyen ran everything and made all of my husband's family feel comfortable by speaking to them in Vietnamese! 2. During the ceremony, when my mom and mother in law couldn't light the candles, and Uyen stepped in and got the lighter working.3. After the ceremony, when she stepped up to me with a big smile and said, "You did it!!"4. At the end of the night, when she gave me a Tastea drink she had picked up just because she's THAT nice.I definitely recommend Uyen and Sassy Girl Weddings and Events to anyone who wants an intelligent, capable planner.

More important than all of the other metrics this site tracks, sassy girl weddings is exceptional because of how personalized the service is. It's the x factor which really "made" our wedding! Also, rating uyen's responsiveness as a mere 5 stars doesn't do her justice. Sooo fast! Since our wedding, we've had numerous guests ask us who our wedding planner was... Her work speaks for itself!

It has taken me awhile to compose my thoughts about my experience Sassy Girl Weddings and the gem that Uyen is and what hasn't already been said about her. Future Brides, we always hear words of wisdom from other brides such as "Just elope...hire a coordinator...hire a videographer." If you are reading this, then you probably already know the merits and necessity of having a day-of-coordinator or wedding planner. But Uyen is so much, so much more. My advice to you: Enjoy and savor the EXPERIENCE of planning your wedding and choose UYEN! It's true what they say--the day goes by so fast, and you're spending a year planning for it. It is being present and having fun during the journey that gets you there that makes it all the more worthwhile and magical, and I couldn't have done it this past year without Uyen. From emailing each other about shoes, figuring out which photographer best suited my fiance and I, and cheering when a contact was closed--I mean, really, who else was going to "get it?" I had an interesting situation being in the Bay Area, but having my wedding in SoCal, my fiance being abroad, and all my bridesmaids (2 of them being first-timers) and family far away. My partner and I hired Uyen right off the bat after meeting her. We hit it off right away and we made a very good team. We purchased her full package so she was there every step of the way. Uyen was always available to answer all of our questions and concerns, even our silly ones. She put both of us at ease and made sure that we knew everything that was going on between her and our vendors. She helped negotiate with our vendors so that not only did we maintain our budget, but Uyen actually paid for herself by getting us a venue that usually quotes others triple the price of what we got it for, due to her working relationship with them. I found Uyen from my friend who is also getting married and I am SO VERY HAPPY that I hired her as my day-of wedding coordinator! Even my now hubby who initially claimed we could do everything on our own now whole heartedly agrees that hiring Uyen was the best wedding decision we made.  I got married 2 weeks ago and we are still getting compliments from family and friends on what a happy and fun event it was and how smoothly everything flowed! Uyen knows EVERYTHING about weddings - she even know table cloth sizes by heart and called out things that we would not have thought about on our own (e.g. we hired a caterer but did not realize that we needed to rent chafing dishes, etc.).I can’t recommend Uyen enough!! My husband and I were very blessed to have met and worked with Uyen. She is such a wonderful person and I say this like she's one of my own friends because that was the first impression we got from the time we met her. She is so gentle and sweet. She had a very welcoming personality and if there was anything I learned about planning my wedding, the comfortability between you and your vendors are one of the most important things to make your planning go as smooth as possible. She is easy going and makes herself available to you like you're her only client. She gives you the best advise and she made us realize a lot of things we didn't know about the wedding. She suggested many things that really worked out well for us including having the chef at the Ebell of Los Angeles customize a special fusion menu for our dinner. She was also very familiar with my hair and make up artists so it was really convenient for me to trust her and the rest of my vendors because they all knew each other professionally. Thank you Uyen. I would've been a complete mess if it wasn't for Uyen. She was the ideal planner I was looking for. I have to admit, I was not only a little apprehensive to hire a coordinator but finding one I didn't know personally was a huge challenge. I said to myself, "Why would I get one when I can do everything myself?" Man, was I wrong. Working with Uyen of Sassy Girl Weddings was easily one of the most rewarding and enjoyable aspects of the wedding process for us. Hiring a wedding planner is one of those things that sounds like a luxury, or something you do when you're having some huge, expensive, over-the-top wedding. That was definitely not us: planning and making everything ourselves, ON A BUDGET, for a ceremony and reception of around 65 people. Neither of us would consider ourselves a “wedding person”. Nevertheless planning a wedding can be a very difficult, involved and often stressful process, and it's important to have somebody with solid experience and good judgment to back you up. We knew what kind of experience we wanted our guests to have, what ideas worked for us (or didn't) that we'd seen in the blogs, the websites, or our friend's weddings, and we had our own personal touches that we wanted to include. However, we were at a loss as to how to bring it all together and make it all work, and who would be in charge of making sure it all went smoothly on the day itself: who would take care of the myriad details and potential problems while we were busy getting married!Both of us agree that hiring Uyen was the best spent money in our budget (the only other hires that came close were our wonderful photographer and awesome DJ—except that it was Uyen herself who referred them to us in the first place!). She is not only friendly and a delight to work with, but combines a fun, hip, creative sensibility with consummate professionalism and devotion to her clients. What strikes you when you work with Uyen is that A) She loves what she does, and B) She's very, very good at it. One the one hand she's brimming with creativity and enthusiasm, eager to hear your ideas and contribute her own. On the other hand she's very well-organized, with a solid grip on the details and logistics that go into planning and running an event like this, and she gets back quickly to your phone calls and emails. We made use of her “Week-of Coordination” Service, i.e. consultation during the planning stages, plus management of the day itself. Such a small-sounding description, but it covered so much! Advising us during the venue selection process, for example, and then walking through our selected venue with us and helping us see the all possibilities, as well as potential problems. Aside from her excellent referrals for any vendors we hadn't yet found, she helped us immensely in our dealings with ALL our vendors. Especially our sometimes-difficult caterer! Uyen remained in the loop and supported us while we went back and forth over pricing and menus with them through email and in person, often taking a direct hand in dealing with them, and really helping us find a solution that worked for everybody. Then she persistently pushed for a tasting so we would know exactly what we were getting. That wasn't even something we'd considered, but it not only identified and headed off additional unforeseen issues, it added immensely to our peace of mind. And when the caterer finally stepped up their efforts in response, the results were beyond our expectations!Even if you've done the legwork, looked at the magazines and the bridal blogs, come up with your own creative ideas and have a vision for what you want, if you're anything like us: it may not be enough. That, and you're completely daunted to boot. You would do yourselves a huge favor to have somebody who knows what it takes to turn that vision into a reality; who can guide you through the process, keep you grounded, and support you when the going gets tough. When it comes to that, you won't find anyone better than Uyen.

Once I was engaged, I knew I needed a planner. I wasn’t one who dreamt of her wedding as a little girl, so I needed guidance. I came upon Sassy Girl Wedding and Events and liked what I saw. Since the first email I knew I wanted to work with Uyen. After our first meeting she had an idea of what I wanted and from there she was able to help me declutter all the ideas that I came across throughout the whole wedding process. My new husband and I just adore Uyen. He and I agree 100% that hiring Uyen was the best decision we made during the whole wedding planning process. My husband and I were planning a Los Angeles wedding from Seoul, Korea and we needed some help. I went through projectwedding.com reviews and emailed a few planners. Uyen was the only one that was SUPER responsive and friendly. I had a million questions for her because I was unable to meet her in person and she responded to all of my emails asap.

Other people describes her pretty well, but I am from different country and there are only few words that I know.But I do know I chose the right person when I heard my mother who doesn't speak English somehow communicating with Uyen at my wedding. My mother and my entire family directly from Japan absolutely loved her!Above all the professionalism, you can really tell that she does it from her heart. We became good friends after my wedding. My now husband and I hired Uyen as our full wedding planner for our July 2010 wedding. After our initial meeting, I knew that Uyen would be perfect for us. Uyen was amazing in helping me out with our wedding. I (the bride) am currently in graduate school. I have a busy exam schedule and realized fairly early on in my planning that we were going to need help... and a lot of it. I love love love Uyen Nguyen of Sassy Girl Weddings and Events! We hired her as our "week of coordinator" 6 months before our wedding and she was so great to work with. Every email I sent her was promptly answered, she provided me with great referrals and awesome vendors. She also helped me stay relatively within my budget which was hard to do :)The week of the wedding I was feeling the pressure and Uyen was there to help me communicate with the vendors and get organized for the big day. We wanted to book Uyen immediately after meeting with her in person. She spent 5 months as our wedding planner and we couldn't be happier. In the end, we stayed within budget but our wedding looks like we had no budget.

The best advice I have ever gotten from other friends and family who recently got married: ask someone else to run your wedding. My husband and I had done everything from booking the reception venue, ceremony, linens, chairs, cake, colors, etc. We asked Uyen to help us on the day of just because I wasn't sure who to put as the contact person when all the rentals were being delivered and that really stressed me out. She didn't just help us on the day of, she helped us for the entire week before the wedding. I know there are other planners out there that only offer "day of" services, but how much can he/she do just in 1 day? I have discovered that the week before the wedding was the most stressful time during the entire planning process. Why? Because you'll be too busy finalizing the guest counts, seating arrangements, programs, place cards, etc. I still can't believe how much Uyen had helped us. While we were going crazy with all guest related issues, she had confirmed all our vendors, set up a time line of when each one of them were to arrive, and when things were to be done by. She was also able to assist us with the seating arrangements and forward all the information the hotel required 3 days before the wedding. On the day off, she was the first one at the church to line us up and hand out our programs. The limo company was late and Uyen was able to get us a refund from them. She also set up the reception area just as how we pictured it (actually even better than we pictured it). I screwed up on the number of corsages I had ordered from the florist and Uyen was able to work with the florist to get that issue resolved. I was not stressed out at all on my wedding day thanks to Uyen! She really took her time to get to know me and my husband and how we envisioned our wedding to be. What I loved the most about Uyen was how fast she responds back to you. I'm the kind of person needs instant gratification. I would email Uyen and couple of minutes later, I'd have a response - even if it was at midnight! I highly highly highly recommend Uyen from Sassy Girl Weddings & Events.

After meeting Uyen for the first time last December, my fiance and I knew we had found our wedding coordinator. We were looking for someone who was organized, prepared, and responsive. Uyen has all those wonderful qualities and more. Even though we only hired Uyen to help us the week of the wedding, she helped us through the entire planning process from start to finish. We are both organized but we knew that we needed someone to help with the wedding. After speaking to three different vendors we realized there was way more detail then we thought and we needed more help. Due to our tight budget we hired Uyen for only a week of service. However, she went beyond that by helping us along the way, reviewing our contracts, recommending vendors and making sure we were on schedule. The day of our wedding was smooth and easy. Everyone commented on what a calm bride I was, but in reality, it was because we had Uyen on our side and we didn’t have to worry about anything. Uyen was fabulous day of coordinator. Hiring her as my coordinator was probably one of the best decisions I made in wedding planning. Uyen is extremely detail oriented, organized, and hard working. Uyen and her staff were nothing short of a miracle to the success of our wedding. We began our engagement planning well in advance and in fact, have hired a different planner initially. However, the previous planner had different priorities and clearly due to lack of experience in the industry, did not get to deliver as well as we had hoped he would. That said, we knew we had to hire a coordinator that truly knew her/his stuff and could translate all their skills and experience to the biggest day of our lives! We went back to our Catering and Event Director (from our reception venue) and she immediately gave me two names but was insistent that I call Uyen from Sassy Girls first; she had a strong feeling that with the standards my fiance and I have plus our personalities, she thought Uyen can work wonders for us. Wow! What an understatement that was! The first time we spoke was over the phone and we chatted for hours on end (mind you, this was at 11 pm at night!) talking about the wedding and the qualities we are looking for in a coordinator. She most definitely fit the bill! I discussed everything with fiance and just based on me telling him how good she is with detials, he was immediately anxious to meet her in person. After that first meeting, we knew we were going to book her. She picked up the pieces from the last coordinator and made our lives so simple by constantly and genuinely checking in on us and chiming in on emails with other vendors to give her two cents (which just blew us away -- how well she thinks outside the box). She came on board without making us feel like she was taking over. She definitely still left everything up to our final approval and just always stood by for any support that we may need. Personally, as a bride, the way she appeased me through different facets of my day is something I will always treasure. There were many times I needed to hear from her how things were going behind the scenes; she kept me worry-free the whole day but still keeping me in the loop of things. There was a moment during the evening that we noticed the card box was gone! The last time anyone saw it was during the cocktail hour. I went to her panicking and she told me that it was already put away under the sweetheart table - safe! Before we could even think of anything, she already had it covered. She truly was a huge relief for me. My fiance, and husband now is beyond words in all the positive things he wants to say about Uyen. He met with her more than I did during the last two weeks bofore the wedding and he told me just how fast she can change hats! One minute she's thinking like a planner, the next minute she's the electrician, the next she was an interior designer, the next she was caterer - you name it, she got it! Our only regret was not hiring her from the get go. She was definitely worth every penny we paid her. She worked tirelessly and always with a smile -- she truly gained our respect and admiration. After my first meeting with Uyen, I knew I had found my wedding coordinator.Indian weddings are multiple days of mass confusion and ceremonies on top of ceremonies. I did a lot of research and interviews to meet a coordinator that I could click with—and I am so thankful that I met Uyen. There is no way that we could have planned such a flawless and beautiful event without Uyen by our side.She was super organized and always prepared. She was very creative and always made the best suggestions. She asked potential questions and issues that I had not even considered. She responds to my all my endless emails quickly. She negotiated well and was very trust worthy. I cannot rave enough about her. I can make a HUGE list of all the ways that Uyen is amazing, but honestly, there are not enough words to describe her. She is not just a coordinator, she is a friend: someone who has your back, who helps you put everything together, someone who will be your partner in coordinating everything. To be truthful, at the start, my fiancé refused to hire a coordinator because he thought it was a “waste of money”. I really had to twist his arm to cave in, but the first words he said to me as we left the wedding was: “Good call on hiring Uyen, best decision.” Ha ha. At least he learns quickly, “the wifey is always right!!” Despite the hours planning and planning, there are always things that will come up on your day. Thankfully, with a competent coordinator like Uyen, you will never know about the behind-the-scenes drama and problems, and be able to focus on what is important—enjoying the day and cherishing the moment.With this in mind, for any bride searching for a coordinator, my husband and I (and our families) highly recommend Uyen. Thank you Uyen for everything!!

I booked Uyen shortly before my wedding as I was getting nervous with all I still had to do. I had a pretty strict budget by this time and Uyen worked with me to get me what she could for the price. She ended up doing just "day of" coordinating (which definitely worked out to more than just the day of) and only the reception (since I had a coordinator at the ceremony site). What can I say. She's a pro! She was asking all sorts of questions I never thought to ask my vendors and she was not only the sweetest and thoughtful thing ever, but she was assertive when she needed to be. My only wish was that I had hired her to oversee the entire thing. I had so many things go wrong (most out of my control) that I really needed someone there to tell the florist that the set up was wrong, or the flowers on the cake were wrong, or they had forgotten to hang the lights and swag, or to provide new directions to my guests when there was a road closure between our church and reception site...etc. It would've been great if we had worked together on the whole thing so she could've known about these things, but from the little time we had before the wedding to get to know each other and for her to get to know my wedding, she did an AMAZING job. The reception site was gorgeous and with so much going on she executed the night beautifully. I will definitely be hiring her for the next big function I throw...and will not spare any expense next time!

I got the week of wedding package with Sassy Girls nine months before my wedding. We decided to get the week of since we had most of our vendors selected before deciding to go with a coordinator. Uyen was always available for all of my questions and her response time was immediate. While I did the negotiations with the vendors, Uyen was still available to look over contracts and make suggestions on how to communicate specifics with the vendors. (However, if you are not comfortable in communicating on your own, get the full package.) Uyen is also very personable. When we met her we hit it off as if we were old friends. We were put at ease knowing we have someone who is an expert at wedding planning as well as someone who we could get along with.

I got married in July and contacted Uyen in May based on the reviews on wedding wire. We were looking for a decorator and a day of co-ordinator. Uyen had reasonable prices for the package that she was offering. Anyway, Uyen pretty much organized the wedding starting in May in terms of venue decor, linens, lighting, flowers, etc. She was also very familiar with the Indian wedding lingo, culture and clothing. She has a vast database of vendors that she has worked with. Her response time for our emails was pretty much within the hour. Sometimes, we would get emails from her at 1am...and we're thinking my goodness! We planned this wedding while living in NY so Uyen was definitely all that we could've asked for. I am so glad I managed to get my husband on board about her. Everyone in our family loved her as well. All our vendors enjoyed working with her. She had a centralized schedule for everybody and all the vendors knew what and when to do it. We barely heard about any hiccups that were happening if there were any! She also worked with my maid of honor who had a surprise song and guitar performance for us! I love Uyen and I am so glad she was a part of my special day :)

...you and your team rock Uyen! Seriously, you did an amazing job and you were truly grace under fire. Can't wait to work with you all again.
