Beautiful cakes for a great price. I looked all over the Bay Area and you won't find a better value for wedding cakes. Really good cake, not the best out there - but in terms of flexibility, style and price - you can't beat it.

In looking for a wedding cake that would be light enough to eat after a ten course Chinese banquet, we hit on the perfect cake at Schubert's, a San Francisco institution in the Richmond district. Another important factor was the cost, as we had to feed nearly 400 guests. We opted for a small tiered cake (for display and cutting) and additional large sheet cakes. Schubert's was able to adjust our order according to our guest count shortly before the wedding, which saved us from having lots of leftover cake!As a bakery that doesn't specialize in wedding cakes, you'll find your decor options somewhat limited here -- but our cake turned out elegantly (an additional shoutout to the Ribbonerie, which provided the ribbon that decorated each tier.)

Schubert's cakes are so delicious! I came here from a recommendation of a friend, and decided to go for a tasting for my wedding. Needless to say, my now husband and mother in law loved their cakes. I especially liked their mouse and whip cream cakes. Charlene helped us w/ our tasting. We decided to go w/ a two tiered cake and then just get sheet cakes for the rest of our guests. At the time of the tasting I had NO IDEA what I wanted my cake to look like nor did I have a final decision on what types of cakes I wanted. I actually sent her my final decision later through email. For the two tiered cake we decided to get a chocolate mocha cake and for the two types of sheet cake we got a chocolate strawberry mouse and their coffee crunch. Everyone raved about the coffee crunch. One guest even told me they could've eaten 10 pieces of the coffee crunch cake! Not only were their cakes delicious they were affordable. Much more so than a lot of the other cake places I was looking at. I would definitely order cake from them again.

The cake was beautiful, very tasty as well. They did a great job on the decoration of the cake, it was easy to order, and get everything done. They did a wonderful job.

I went to 5 bakers in various cities. Schubert's Bakery offered the complete package. I had a 3-tier cake, with Italian Rum, White & Lemon, and Mocha flavor. I created my own design which they were able to create and looked more beautiful than I can image. Their fondant taste wonderful. At first I wasn't not going to choose them because I wanted whipped cream frosting. After Sabine made me the fondant in a leaf form I new my search was over. I would recommend this bakery to anyone that wants everyone to rage about their dessert choice.

I loved my wedding cake. It was exactly what i had wanted the cake to look like for our wedding. it was gorgeous and we received compliments on how beautiful the cake was. it tasted just as good as it looked. Would highly recommend!

I loved the wedding cake, we chose mango rum, and our guests complimented us on how delicous the cake was. The design was beautiful, we put ribbon around the layers, and had a cake topper, and they did a terrific job. Delivery was smooth, and went well.

Their service is about average, but their cake is very tasty. They offer us a free cake for our 1st anniversity which is a big PLUS.

The sales people were great to work with. We custom designed our cake, which looked beautiful. Yummy and beautiful...

Well,4 stars only because the didn't do exactly what I finally asked for (i changed my mind a lot about how I wanted it to look). They kept most of what I asked for (4tier, ivory with gold ribbons (that I bought & gave to them), pearl dots with red roses on top only). They end up putting the roses on the side too (which was what I wanted at first, but asked at the end to take off). That was the ony flaw of it, but it look good still..i guess.
Got the Opera, Italian Rum and White with Guava filling. Yum Yum!! Charlene was really helpful. They don't have much of a album, but they can pretty much do anything if you just bring a picture. I think they only do fondount, but my friend who also went with them ask for marzipon(sp?) and they did it. Price was reasonable, but when we went back, I saw they increased it by like $200-300 dollars! Wow!

This was one of the worst cake tasting experience. We were on time for our tasting schedule but was told to wait for next available table(there was no other tasting schedule before us). An assistant brought out the cake for us to try. The taste of the cake was not great, we only got to taste 3 flavors. When we were discussing the detail of the cake, we ask if we have this decorations and other ideas. The assistant was unable to answer our questions but need to go to the back and ask the chef. We were ask to put down a deposit even before agreeing if we would hire them.

The cake was exactly what I wanted. They did a great job and everyone said the cake was very good.

It was a total disaster, the cake was 1 and a half hours late, the receptio has already started. I was freaking out of course. The cake almost looked how I ordered, I order different flavor for each tier and they made the whole cake one same flavor. The flowers were awfully placed. WOULD NOT RECOMEND. The refund all the money.

The salespeople are very nice and the owner is very nice as well, very friendly over the phone and in emails. I went for a cake tasting and was not that impressed by the taste. The cake was just ok (nothing special) and the filling tastes a little artificial (like jam).
PROS: very affordable prices for a pretty nice-looking cake. very friendly and nice owners and employees.
CONS: not the best-tasting cake in the world, charges a delivery fee, not much design selection because you can only choose cake decorations out of their portfolio.

Everyone loved our cake. We ordered the opera cake and a white cake w/ blackcurrent filling.
The cake was gorgeous.
Only 4 stars because we asked for the 4" risers to be in between the 3 layers of cake but they forgot. No big deal to us, it still looked beautiful.
We decorated it with fresh flowers.

Got the shower cake from Schubert's. Wow, it was out of this world. I was so disappointed that they didn't have my date available, as they book up well in advance, particularly during the summer months. Their prices seemed really amazing too. Their designs seem a bit more old school, but if you're not looking for high art, I think this place wins on taste and on price!

Chef designed a one of a kind cake for us from the picture that i brought - to match the wedding invitations and rest of the decor. It was pale blue with pink cherry blossoms and simply gorgeous. We were not charged anything extra for this custom design and paid the regular cake fee. Before choosing this bakery we visited several others at bridal fairs etc., but this was my favorite in terms of quality and value. Also, to save $$$ we ordered a smaller cake for display and an additional sheet cake, which was a fraction of the cost. The sheet cake was with mango mousse filling and it was a perfect treat on a warm summer day. Highly recommended!

We chose Schubert's Bakery because they have been a neighborhood staple for years. From little desserts and pastries to big cakes suitable for the party at work and home, they rarely miss the mark. At our appointment, we discussed our options and tasted samples. We did not get a great big wedding cake and ultimately chose a sheet cake instead because of our small wedding. However, she added decorations to it that made it (a white cake with raspberry filling) just perfect for our wedding and wedding photos. The cake was delivered in North Beach area of San Francisco with no problems that I've heard. I think Schubert's is a great choice for any couple to consider.

Schubert's was decently priced...They were easy to deal with regarding delivery...Their staff was not the most helpful or infomative...But they got the job done and our cake was beautiful!

We weren't planning on having a cake, so it was a last month decision. This bakery was highly recommended by a friend so we gave it a taste test. We liked what we tried but it wasn't the best thing ever. They are not the lowest priced cakes. The price included delivery and varies depending on location from San Francisco. We got a 3 tier cake with levels of 6",10", and 14". Each layer was different--white cake with rum custard and mango filling, white cake with vanilla custard and strawberry filling, and chocolate cake with mocca and rasberry filling. The outside was marzipan. The cake topper was a brushed silver double happiness symbol.
On my wedding day, I only had one bite of the cake. I was just not in a cake mood. There were a lot of leftovers as I expected and wanted to avoid this by not having a cake at all. The flower decoration was taken from the flower girl's basket and was done by my husband's aunt.
We actually got to taste 3 samples in the tasting. It was a decent slice for each and they make it right there for you. Go for the tasting; you're not obligated!
Paid $425 in spring of 2006

I ordered my cake online and then confirmed everything in person. Their cakes are truly delicious and fresh and they use only the best ingredience. I highly recommend this bakery for any of your cake needs.

The cake tasting was great! The choices were all delicious. Instead of saving the top layer for our first anniversary, they gave us a gift certificate to come in and get a free cake when we wanted it (great option to have fresh cake as opposed to frozen year old cake!).
