Alex really worked to get the hubby to relax during out photo sessions. I was so happy with how our engagement session turned out, that I am not worried about the outcome of the wedding pictures. I'm sure they will be just as beautiful. I really appreciated the fact that Alex (and his second, Christa) didn't make us take all the cheesy cliche poses that are all too common with engagement and wedding pictures (while convincing me that certain shots ARE necessary "to make the parents happy" ;0P ). And willing to take a risk for that great shot, he crouched quite precariously on the side of a steep hill, just so the light and us were where he wanted it. Several of my guests even commented/complimented on how impressed they were with our photographer always in the midst of the action, camera at hand, to take that right picture that captured the moment.
As a side not, maybe I am just an academic snob, but I really respect a guy who, despite all the years of experience, still finds the value in continuing his formal education in the art of photography and film, fulfilling a graduates program at the Brooks Institute. Just one detail why I chose to sign with Alex instead of someone...

We had Sean as our wedding photographer and there are not enough words to describe how GREAT he is! Sean was always professional, patient and very accommodating. He listened to all of our suggestions and was always willing to try anything we wanted and most importantly he made us feel relaxed and comfortable during the entire process. We received our engagement and wedding photos quickly and every single photo was AMAZING!!

AMAZING!!!!! Booked Jared for our 9/29 wedding. I am beyond overjoyed with every single one of the pictures jared took the day of the wedding. He was professional,fun and reliable.You can really tell he enjoys what he does and his shots show it. We got married a month ago and Scott was our photographer....I can say nothing but great things!! I am surprised there are not more reviews but I wanted to take the time and acknowledge this man's talent and business. I searched for 6 months to get the right photographer....I wanted someone that was talented, honest, caring, professional and affordable.....we got all that and more when we hired Scott Nelson. WOW! The transaction process was a breeze and the phone calls and emails were super timely...then the big day came...unlike alot of the other photographers I came in contact with...Scott was not concerned with 'how long' he would be there....he let me know that he would be there as long as it took to get the perfect shots. HOW AWESOME IS THAT?? The Day of..he arrived before he was due to get acquainted further and to set up...he did so much leg work on the wedding grounds and got amazing behind the scene shots as we all got ready in makeup/wardrobe. Also, Scott was dressed very well....total professional...very impressed. After wedding....the very next week he teased us with a sample shot.....we practically drooled....another week after that he sent us a few more.....3rd week....he sent me video he made with pictures and also a link to all of our pictures.....almost 700 pictures! Honestly.....I was stunned. With the amount of shots Scott took and the quality of work.....i would have gladly paid him twice what he charged us....no joke. At this point I am basking in the glory of picking the ones we will be blowing up for our new home.....tough life right? In addition, Scott has been in timely contact with us ever since....STILL....making sure we are taken care of. We searched for 3.5 months for a photographer before we came across Scott's portfolio. All I could think was: WOW!!!
Every girl fantacizes about her wedding day. I started when i was 4! I pictured every detail, from the veil to my pedicure. It's funny, I still cant get enough of fantacizing and daydreaming about that day... It's in a month and 11 days! Our search for a photographer was specific: capture the moments so I could re-live that day over and over, and Scott's portfolio did just that for us and more. We are so excited and grateful to have him photograph our wedding. In our first meeting, he asked us so many questions to find our style. He even offered, actually insisted, on helping us with time management the day of... He's got so much talent and experience AND is so willing to share it; it's so nice and fresh. He is a genius with a camera and he's got a heart of gold.
He is very prompt to return calls and emails. He listens to every word I say, is extremely curteous, easy to talk to, open, direct and honest, and he has great input. He is like a photographer+ planner+angel. We can't wait! Our next appointment is to review the times for vendors - he is going to help guide us what time to tell each vendor to show up that day.
ooooo! One more thing, his printed albums are a MUST-SEE! They are amazing... They glow! I'm serious! I guess there is a special way he prints them... They look SO good. I never cared about the album till I saw his... I can't describe them, you just have to see them.

Scott was our photographer for our engagement shoot and he was FANTASTIC! We had a 2-part shoot at Laguna beach and both parts were great, we felt really comfortable just being ourselves and enjoying the park and the beach while Scott snapped away in the back. We didn't have many requests, but we did want some close-ups and Scott took some great close-ups from every angle. He also had great suggestions on poses and angles and his expertise really paid off because we now have beautiful pictures to show our family and friends. Scott also helped us prepare a slideshow of some of our best pictures with our favorite song. He even got his shoes wet and went into the water with us when we wanted to do pictures on the beach and in the water! We both really enjoyed working with Scott and would recommend him to anyone who is looking for beautiful pictures at a very reasonable price. Thanks again Scott for a wonderful session!

Scott is simply the best. He is creative, he is kind, he is fun to work with, he is super talented and he is definitely one of a kind. His work speaks for itself. When my Mom and I first met Scott we were blown away by his creativity. I cried watching his work online as it was exactly what I wanted my pictures to look like. And they do. We were lucky enough to book Sean through this photography company. Book now- don't wait! I can't say enough good things about Sean. We were married Sept 17th, 2011 and just got our photos last night. They are AMAZING. Even though there was only 1 of him, he got every moment possible (several shots of every moment)- it was as if we had hired 2 photographers. He was everywhere all at once. The day of the wedding, Sean was super nice and flexible. His eye for artistic pictures and being creative (arranging rings on the invitations to show the names, etc.) is trully wonderful. We were also very happy with the turn around time of getting our pictures this soon after the wedding. From booking till finish, this company has been fantastic. To capture true emotions on a still photograph is rare; it is usually done when no one is looking. When time stands still and a look or a tender moment evokes a feeling that can be seen and experienced time and again…that is what Scott provides.

We call it “Life art”! Not a posed studio shot but something artistic and emotional. While he guided us at times; his desire was to capture us just being with each other. It was like having a close friend taking the pictures.

My finance and I debated on whether or not to invest in the engagement session. I can’t encourage you enough to take advantage of it. The pictures themselves left us breathless, excited, and eager for Scott to capture the big event. This extra session also set us at ease knowing all of our wishes would be taken care of. See, as a bride you have enough to worry about as the day approaches. Enough sometime to seek medical assistance, so you can see how concerning yourself about the photographer could be just too much to add to an already anxious situation. The few hours we spent with him gave him and us a sense for both of our styles. It also defined what worked for the types of poses and what direction would be needed on that day. But the biggest advantage was having that relationship before the big day. We recognized that Scott was able to bring out the best in us by treating him like a guest and not just a photographer. Our guests and family had so much fun with him at the wedding and we do hope to have many more picture perfect opportunities to share together.

We started working with Scott over a year before our wedding date. Setting up a meeting with him at his studio was very easy! He was willing to work with our late schedule and was very accommodating when we met. My husband and I instantly fell in love with is work and knew that we had found the photographer for our wedding. Scott is very organized and will let you know when he is available. He works well with couples and helped us think of things we would've have considered before - such as sunset time and how weather will affect the bride's hair. His price range is reasonable, though his prices were higher than we had originally set for our photography budget, his work was MORE than worth the price!! He did such a great job and was very easy to work with, it's going to be nearly impossible to decide which pictures to print up. Scott Nelson is the best vendor you can possibly have. His professionalism was the best I've seen. He was always on time, and never failed on delivering on exactly the terms he's promised. Scott did an amazing job photographing my wedding. I couldn't have asked for a better photographer. He took so many wonderful pictures. This letter is for the recommendation of Scott Nelson. We had the privilege of having him as our wedding photographer in February 2011. After a long search, we came across his website and decided to set up an initial interview. After meeting Scott, we knew we had the right person for the job by his professional manner and obvious enthusiasm for his work. We were not expecting the level of service we received with two assistant photographers and Scott Nelson himself.

Jared of Scott A. Nelson Photographers did such a great job. He arrived on time and got the most important shots of the day. He was professional, but at the same time made everyone feel comfortable and it truly felt like a friend of the family was taking pictures of us. He remembered that I liked the "fishbowl" effect and the black and white photos so he made sure that I had some of those. The only bummer is we didn't get any detail shots of the centerpieces or anything. I would've liked to have seen those, but overall... Jared did a great job and he was such a pleasant person to work with. We hope to use him for other events in the future :)

My wedding isn't until August, but after seeing all the great reviews I just had to write one, too :) So my wedding won't be photographed by Scott, but it will be photographed by his associate, Jared. I absolutely love my photographer. I am working with one of Scott's associates, Holly, and she is great. Our wedding is in July but we already did the boudoir photos and I can't stop looking at them and thinking how amazing she made me look. I can't wait to see her work for our wedding day. Both Holly and Scott are very easy to work with, respond patiently and quickly to all of my questions and come at a great price.

Scott was super responsive and very efficient. He even had a list for us to fill out for different poses or backgrounds. We had Jared on our wedding. He was on time and friendly. Scott photographed my wedding in 2008. He did a great job. We lOVE the photos. He came early and stayed late, worked well with all the vendors and was very attentive. 5 stars.

Scott photographed our wedding in June of 2008 and did such a wonderful job. He arrived early at the hotel and got pictures of all the girls getting hair/make-up done, we did lots of creative shots in the hotel room and around the hotel. He brought an assistant with him as well who took photos all day and helped with additional lighting stuff. He stayed late into the reception and I think we ended up with around 3000+ photos from our day to look through. Scott is full of energy, a joy to be around and you can tell he loves his work. Scott Nelson was a great wedding photographer. My father and I have been asked to take pictures at many of my friends weddings ( we do that as a hobby & for fun). So at my wedding, I wanted the best around and I can tell you Scott captured all the moments, told our story and we can recreate the day by his photos. I was amazed by his pictures and still am. The website he uses is very easy to use, but looking back I would have had Scott create our book and take engagement photos and spend/budget more for photography. We were married at the Chart House and it was the perfect day. 80 degrees and sunny helped, but I believe that Scott could have pulled off great pictures in any circumstance. My husband is extremely camera shy and I was worried about the camera being in his face,but Scott is extremely discreet and blends in. He did an amazing job and is very dependable.

Scott photographed our wedding in August 2007 at La Venta Inn and he did such an amazing job! He captured the day beautifully and he is incredibly talented. Scott was worth every penny! He was not intrusive before, during, or after the ceremony - he was a total professional! He was extremely accommodating and I never felt like there was any conflict between what we wanted vs. his artistic style. I knew I had to have him as a photographer when I saw a wedding picture on a colleague's desk - the picture captured the perfect expression of the person and was not posed or phony in any way. Scott made everything easy for us...and since we were planning our own wedding (Aug. 2007), that was a huge plus. Sure - there are cheaper photographers out there, but you get what you pay for. My best friend went the cheap route and has regretted her choice for the last 10 years. When the cake is gone and the flowers fade, the only thing (other than the marriage - the important part) you have is the memories and the pictures. The wedding flies by so fast that the pictures are a must (we didn't want to go the wedding video route). We were very happy with Scott's work.

Scott did a fabulous job at our May 2007 wedding! He offered several inclusive packages to choose from, including our photo album and free engagement session. He even added a guestbook using our engagement photos, which turned out great. On the day of the wedding, he and his assistant were prompt and made everyone feel at ease. During the ceremony, I don't even remember seeing him, but the pictures prove he captured every moment! Since we opted not to hire a videographer, we were especially careful to choose a photographer that would capture the spirit of our day. Scott exceeded all our expectations, and gave us memories that will last forever.

Scott took the photos at my sister's wedding in Huntington Beach. He has lots of energy, is very creative and took wonderful photos. There were 1000's of pictures in the final selection, lots of creative shots with the girls and guys, great ceremony pictures and he stayed until the VERY end. Way to go SAN, you rocked that one.

Our pictures are beautiful. He's a wonderful photographer. We really can't emphasize how amazing Scott was to work with. His pictures are absolutely amazing, as you will see from his web site. What really made a difference for us though, was how wonderful he was to work with. We live on the East Coast and were nervous about planning a wedding from 3000 miles away.
