Even thinking about the amazing experience I had with Travis, Sarah and their incredible catering company brings me back to all the joy and fun I had during my wedding week in Banner Elk, NC. Since I have a background in culinary, I had a pretty distinct vision for the type of food I wanted at my wedding. I knew I wanted to avoid your "typical" wedding fare at all costs and instead wanted to create a memorable food experience for my guests. Once in touch with Travis at Seed to Plate, to say that it was love at first email is an understatement!
When I learned that Travis and his team source local foods from their own farm, I was both thrilled and SUPER impressed. We were instantly on the same page and together came up with a "Southern Style" menu with passed hors d'oeuvres and a full buffet, with food so freaking fantastic we can’t stop talking about it! Think mountain trout, baby back ribs, fried chicken and all of the traditional “fixins” with a super sophisticated twist.
It would be a crime not to mention the totally Pintrest worthy, picnic style fare they put together for my rehearsal dinner. We collaborated on a truly creative little menu with paper and twine wrapped sandwiches, fresh berries and pasta and potato salad in mini takeout containers. This food perfectly complemented my picnic theme complete with blankets, checkered tablecloths, picnic baskets, a bonfire and S'Mores bar for dessert.
I could not be more happy and grateful for Travis, Sarah and their entire team at Seed to Plate. They were fantastic communicators, friendly, full of amazingly creative ideas and truly talented chefs. In a time when planning a wedding can be such a headache, it was refreshing to have at least one part go off without a hitch (and enjoy every step of the process!) They turned out a menu and experience that we will remember for years to come! I can't wait to visit Banner Elk again to experience their impeccable food once again!

Chef Travis Sparks is classically trained in French Cuisine from the French Culinary Institute in Manhattan NYC. However, his skills have been honed to accommodate many flavors from around the world.
