Bryan restored my 40 year old wedding dress for my daughter who will be married in the Spring...incredible job! Top notch job! Amazing!

I wore my mother's 30 year old lace wedding dress for my wedding, and the dress had not been properly stored in the meantime (it was just hung in a closet). Thus, the dress was in dire need of a cleaning. We drove the hour to Greensboro to have the dress cleaned at Shores because of the great reviews we read online, and we were not disappointed. The staff was professional and courteous, the dress was ready when they said it would be, and they did a great job with the cleaning. You can tell that they take very good care of the clothing and handle it with respect. We were very pleased.

Shore's Wedding Gown Specialist did a wonderful job preserving my gown! Before the wedding they steamed the gown at NO CHARGE because I had already agreed to preserve my gown through them... so they saved me $80! They also went through a thorough description of the cleaning/preserving process with me so I would understand entirely. The gown looks great and is stored in a neat box that fits perfectly in my closet! I highly recommend their services over anyone else! No one does it better than Shore's!

Shores Fine Dry cleaning did an outstanding job on my wedding dress. The packaging they perserved it in was the icing on my cake. I know nothing will happen to my dress that now holds sentimental value!

About Shores Fine Dry Cleaning & Wedding Gown Specialists
FAQ for Shores Fine Dry Cleaning & Wedding Gown Specialists
Our Certified Wedding Gown SpecialistsTM carefully handclean every gown with gentle chemicals that dissolve the different kinds of stains on your gown. Then your gown is rinsed in pure solvent, the one best for your gown, until it is completely clean.
What is preservation?
Your completely clean gown is carefully packed with acid-free tissue in a museum-quality wedding chest that protects your gown from the air and light that cause unprotected gowns to yellow.
Why is your process different from others?
Spills such as soda, wine and cake (many times caused by a guest and unnoticed by the bride) contain sugar and often dry without leaving a visible mark. Sugar is not dissolved during ordinary drycleaning and caramelizes over time into ugly brown stains. We take an extra step to be sure all stains, both seen and unseen, are removed.
Is your wedding chest different from others?
Our trademarked MuseumCareTM wedding chest is completely acid-free, not just pH neutral. Boxes that are only pH-neutral are not as safe for your gown, and ordinary boxes and tissue are heavy in acid, which damages fabric. Ordinary boxes and tissue cause yellowing and “burn” gowns leaving dark brown streaks wherever the fabric touches the box.
Can I see my gown when it is in the wedding chest?
You can see your gown through an oval window made of polypropylene, an inert plastic that will not yellow or damage your gown. Some of our members do not use this lid. Instead they wrap the gown in muslin, and you can fold back the muslin to view your gown.
What else can I preserve with my gown?
Such things as a headpiece and veil, petticoat, gloves, garter, and handkerchief may be stored with your gown. There may be an additional charge. You may also choose to store your things in more than one chest. Shoes should not be stored with the gown because fumes from the leather and glue may cause damage. We can also preserve other special garments such as christening gowns, communion dresses, quinceaneros gowns, military uniforms, etc.
Will you make repairs to my gown?
We can make any needed repairs. For some repairs there may be an additional charge.
What is the guarantee?
100% international guarantee against caramelized sugar stains or yellowing of your gown backed by Certified Wedding Gown SpecialistsTM in more than 500 cities around the world. Return gown to any participating Specialist who will inspect the gown and press it at no charge.
What if I open my gown?
The guarantee is not voided, but improper handling of the gown may cause damage, and it should be resealed. If your gown is handled excessively or soiled it should be cleaned and preserved again.
Always . . . hang your wedding gown by loops inside the gown that are connected to sturdy side seams, never by fragile shoulder seams that can stretch or sag.
Always . . . avoid storing your wedding gown in plastic bags or vacuum-sealed, plastic wrapped containers because plastic emits fumes that can yellow your bridal gown and trap moisture that mildews your wedding gown.
Always . . . ask what precautions the specialist takes to protect delicate trims and decorations on your wedding gown and how the cleaner guards against latent stains on your wedding gown.
Always . . . choose a specialist who will personally process your bridal gown, never one who sends your bridal gown away to be cleaned.
Always . . . ask to inspect your wedding gown personally before it is put into the container, which should be a completely acid-free, museum-quality, archival wedding chest lined with fabric or acid-free tissue.
Always . . . avoid storing your bridal gown in the attic or basement where there are extreme changes in temperature or humidity.
