Silhouettes and Profiles

I found Silhouettes and Profiles, a small tailor/alteration shop on the upper west side of NY, NY, by using Yelp, and was very pleased.
Had a great experience at this tiny gem of a place- I stressed for weeks about where to bring my wedding dress for alterations (my dress is just a department store dress, simple, as I do not care much for traditional bridal gowns, so I wanted to really make it my own). Finally found this place, and sent them an email just to see if they'd reply (I love a business with a website and email!) and they did immediately, told me to come on in the next day. They were very sweet, spent lots of time making sure that everything was exactly how I wanted, and gave their honest opinions (I wanted to change the neckline, but was concerned about cutting the fabric- they recommended not just pinning as I originally planned to do, and reassured me that it would look best if they cut the neckline). I was also concerned about the change in the neckline messing with the seaming/pattern, but they promised it would look great- and it does! I stopped in to pick it up today, tried it on, and it looked and fit even better than I'd hoped. I received an email (!) a few days before to let me know it would be ready on the day we'd discussed. They looked it over and even spent a few minutes while I was still there sewing down a piece of the neckline that sat a little funny ( I wouldn't have even noticed but they seem to want to make it all perfect!). I am thrilled. Prices are not low (but I'd planned to spend a fair bit on all the changes I'd wanted, since I had purchased such an inexpensive dress). Cash and check only, but they let me know all this beforehand. I am very pleased and am happy to have a place to bring my special items.
