Our packages cover a wide array of types of videography, from single-camera unedited footage with the Just The Memories package to multi-camera multiple-editings packages. Everything we do is shot in 1080i High Definition.

In addition to the standard special editing services (for example, the highlights reel, or photo slideshows), we offer the Wedding Teaser Trailer. This is a short, online featurette about the length of a movie preview that we prepare a couple weeks before your wedding, to get your guests hyped up for the big day.

We prefer not to use lighting, as it can be distracting and ruin the mood of your carefully-planned event. Instead, we use Canon XH-A1 cameras, which are known for their superior ability to capture in low-light conditions.

Usually we work as a pair, although the number of videographers present depends on the number of cameras included in your package.

While we're able to accommodate varying needs (for example, cross-country couples for whom a pre-wedding meeting would be inconvenient), we do like to meet with you before the wedding itself, not only to get to know you, but also to go over the contract and talk a little about what makes your wedding unique--to give us an idea of what to expect and what to prepare for.

At least one of the Silk & Silver videographers (i.e., either Mike or Zan or both) is guaranteed to be at the actual event. Depending on how many cameras your package includes, it may be just one videographer, or if there are two cameras, the second may be manned by an intern or associate videographer. Most two-camera weddings are shot by Mike and Zan together.

We may book another wedding on the same day or in the same weekend, but ONLY if we can be absolutely sure that your needs are met first. We won't book a couple unless we can be absolutely certain that we will have the time and energy to give them our fullest attention.

We make sure to have extra batteries, plenty of tapes, tripods, and microphones along with our cameras (two Canon XH-A1s) on the day of.

We double-check our equipment the day before--an ounce of prevention, as the saying goes--but if something should happen on the day of, we'll be prepared with certain redundancies (two cameras capturing sound, for example) in case something does go amiss.

We don't like to part with our rawest footage, but we can usually prepare a raw footage DVD (or two, depending on how much footage there is) that can get you access to most of the material, if not all. In the case of our basic Just The Memories package, we only give the raw footage.

We do retain copyright to all footage and images that we shoot, and occasionally we put them in promotional reels or take stills to use on our website and social networking pages, but we usually ask your permission before we go around plastering your face willy-nilly on the internet.

We're more interested in making sure you get what you want than we are in being Artists with a Capital A. We are creative people with a significant amount of experience with video editing, but none of that means anything if you're not happy with how it turns out. If you want to be involved in the editing process, we can definitely work with that.

Q: What is the 'Forever Guarantee'?
A: The Forever Guarantee means that as long as we’re in business, we’ll hang onto both your raw footage and final product. Since we back up everything we shoot digitally, we can always go back and change, upgrade, or improve the package you originally purchased. We can also make additional copies for you down the line, if anything should happen to the originals we provided you with.

Q: Why do you film in HD? If I don’t have HD, will I be able to watch my video?
A: The simple answer is, we shoot in HD because HD is better. Using only HD, no matter the job, allows us to make sure that the highest-quality picture is captured for every event we cover. Then we get to the editing room, we have more leeway to work with in less-than-perfect situations, like low light or shooting from a great distance. Perfect videography requires a perfect picture, and HD gives us that.

But more important than all that is that we’re in the business of preserving memories. If we’re to effectively preserve your special moments, we need to be thinking forward to when you’ll be looking back. HD is the wave of the future, the cutting edge, and even if you don’t have HD now, you probably will someday.

But say you don’t have HD now. That’s no problem. You’ll still be able to enjoy your video in standard definition on one of the multiple DVDs that we provide in each package. Still concerned? Drop us a line at contact@silksilver.com and we’ll be glad to help clear things up.
