Simply Cakes

Simply Cakes made a fantastic cake for our wedding! They had a winter wedding special that we selected to save money, but the cake we received didn't taste or look like a discount cake! Everyone commented on how delicious the cake was. Even with the winter special, we still had many options for flavors and designs to choose from. Lori was wonderful to work with! We had to pick out a cake in a hurry (about a month before the wedding!) because our first plans fell through, but Lori worked us in to her schedule and answered all of our questions. She was so friendly and patient and willing to meet with us over the phone and email since we were planning our wedding from out of town. I highly recommend Simply Cakes to any bride planning her wedding!

Lorie from Simply Cakes was fantastic to work with. She was quick to respond, very organized, and offered up great ideas that worked with our vision. Most importantly, the cake was delicious! I've never been one to love wedding cake...it's usually dry and boring. Our cake, on the other hand, was out of this world...and I'm not just saying that! My cousin, who isn't a real big "sweets" person, had 2 pieces of our cake before some people even got through their first slice. There weren't even crumbs left of our cake! I very highly recommend Lorie and everyone at Simple Cakes!

Lori from Simply Cakes did my wedding cake/cupcakes and I couldn't have been happier! She did such a wonderful job on the decorating and they tasted fantastic!!! For my wedding I did a two-tiered wedding cake with flowers in the middle (so it looked like three tiers) for cake cutting pictures. The cake wasn't supposed to feed everybody (we really only did it for pictures) so we did cupcakes for everyone else. We had two different kinds and all of it was wonderful. I would highly recommend Lori!

My wedding cake was absolutely magnificent!!!!!!!!!! It was just what I asked for. I even changed my mind at the last minute about which cake I wanted (2 weeks prior) and Lorie was very willing to work with me. I would reccomend them to anyone looking for a great memorable experience!!!!

Lorie was so easy to work with. She had a lot of great ideas that she bounced off me and my husband. We came up with the great idea to do something a bit cultural and do a henna themed wedding cake that was inspired by the colors of my dress. It turned out really amazing. Moreover, the cake tasted GREAT. Guests raved about it. It wasn't too sweet, nor was it too bland. I really loved the fact that you get TWO filling flavors in one layer of cake. These pieces were big and really and the kids loved them. I had fun smashing it in my husband's face too. He did the same to me too. I look forward to getting my one year anniversary cake next!

AWESOME BAKERY!!! We were married almost a year ago and people are STILL talking about the cupcakes. We have also used Simply Cakes for birthdays throughout this past year. They were professional from the first phone call to confirm an appointment to me ordering our anniversary cake. I worked a lot with Lorie who was awesome the whole way through. My mind was so undecided on decisions for the cake but she was patient and very helpful in making sure I decided on something that I would enjoy. I never felt like this was a business who just wanted money. Proud to say that I didn't feel like a customer giving money. They were on time to the reception site and set up everything in a timely manner. We have recommended to others and will continue to keep them as our #1 choice for occasions!! {So worth it!!}

I ordered my wedding cake from Lorie at Simply Cakes for my 05/14/11 wedding. Lorie was wonderful to work with, and even made us a special sample of pound cake to try. We ended up choosing that with chocolate ganache and fresh strawberry filling. The cake was incredibly delicious and beautiful. I will order all my special occasion cakes from Lorie in the future!!

I loved working with Lorrie of Simply Cakes for my wedding. My fiance (now husband) was deployed when I did our initial complimentary tasting, but she allowed us to come back for another complimentary tasting when he came home; he really enjoyed that. We had a variety of cakes and flavors and she handled it all flawlessly. We had a 3 tier, two one tiers, and dozens of cupcakes. It was a sugar wonderland! We came home after our honeymoon and the left over cake was still moist and tasted great! She also did the groom's cake in the form of a Carolina Hurricanes Jersey, and it looked exactly like what the players wear. My husband was floored. I HIGHLY recommend Simply Cakes for your wedding.

We used simply cakes for our wedding cupcakes and cutting cake. They did an excellent job and the cakes tasted amazing and looked great!! Better than expected. Pricing was very reasonable and loved all the flavor options that were available....many more than other cake vendors we tried.

The cake was amazing! I still look at the wedding pictures just to see the cake. Simply Cakes went above and beyond for us! We were more than pleased!!

Lorie was fantastic to work with, and the cake was absolutely delicious. We had plenty of leftover, because we ended up with fewer guests than we expected. We gave some to my in-laws the next day and my mother-in-law was excited to try it, because she hadn't managed to get any at the reception. She wrote me an email the day after raving about how delicious it was. I got many other compliments while still at the reception.

She listened to my ideas for how the cake should look, and easily worked with me on having several different flavors in the cake itself. When I was a little late with the final payment (I thought I had already paid it, too much going on when I got down to 2 weeks to go!) she was very understanding and sent me an email with a gentle reminder that I needed to bring it in.

Part of the purchase price is a free 1 year anniversary cake, so you don't have to try to save yours in the freezer. If you are at all doubtful, go to their new storefront and try some of their cupcakes, I'm sure you'll make up your mind right then and there.

This was the best cake ever! We tried a couple other places, and nothing compared to Simply Cakes! The cake was very moist, and the frosting was very yummy! Lori was always very quick to respond and was very flexible to our needs. She offers so many cake choices and they all taste great! And you get a free anniversary cake for 2 a year later, so we wont be eating freezer-burnt-year-old-cake! We will recommend her for everyone, not just wedding couples!

Our wedding cake was AMAZING! I am not much of a cake person, so I figured that I would find a company to make a cake that I would be "ok" with eating on my wedding day. However, when we went for a tasting at Simply Cakes...I was blown away. The cake was very moist and had soooo much flavor! I can now say that I love cakes...but only by Simply Cakes, lol. We are ordering our anniversary cake now and we are so excited to get it!

She made us exactly what we asked for - even better than I could have imagined! We provided our own cake stand & topper and it was no problem. They made sure to set everything up perfectly. Not to mention the cake was delicious, it was the best tasting wedding cake I've had at a wedding. We had french vanilla, buttercream & espresso mouse!

Simply Cakes made planning for my wedding easy! No other vendor (decorations, tables, etc) was anywhere near as helpful or professional. The prices are very competitive! While I gathered that the bakery was very busy, I was well-attended to during our meetings/emails and always felt Lorie was looking out for my best interest. No one tried to talk me into any unnecessary extras or a bigger cake than I needed, and the flexibility/variety offered was better than I could have hoped for. Simply Cakes thought of all the details I hadn't even considered yet, saving me from panic later on! Add in the free 1 yr anniversary cake and I absolutely can't recommend them more!

Everything about our wedding cake and grooms cake was outstanding! If I could do it all over again, I would have ordered another cake just to have after we returned from our Honeymoon!

Lorie is awesome. She is so friendly and worked with us to help us decide what we really wanted for our cake - it ended up being filled cupcakes!!! We were able to select different flavors and different fillings and she even helped us to come up with a method to identify what was what - different wrappers and icing colors. Lorie of Simply Cakes was professional yet down to earth and very easy to work with. She listened to what I wanted and provided me with a beautiful and delicious wedding cake that has become the stuff of legend in my family. To this day I haven't had as good of a cake as the one Lorie made for my wedding. I recommend her highly for several reasons - her prices are reasonable, she is a local woman-owned business and not part of a large retail chain, and she makes great-tasting and beautiful cakes.

Lorie was great to work with and a lot of fun. She was able to squeeze us in for a last minute tasting, and we booked her a just month before the wedding when our previous plan fell through. She came through with flying colors!! The cake was absolutely gorgeous. I couldn't have dreamt of anything better! And the taste...DELICIOUS! The guests devoured nearly the entire cake!! I've had serveral people tell me it's the best wedding cake they've ever eaten! You should try one of her newest combinations called "Frank's Favorite"...red velvet w/ strawberry mousse & cream cheese filling. It was our smallest layer, but based on guest reaction, perhaps it should've been our largest! As you can tell, I HIGHLY recommend Lorie/Simply Cakes!!!

This honestly couldn't have been a better cake. It is exactly what we wanted to look like and tasted better than I could have imagined. They were super easy to work with and the price was the best we could fine. A+ vendor!

Everything was great. I was amazed that even tho my father had already done a cake testing for me while I was out of town, Lorie was able to allow me one when I got in town! That way I was able to sample all of the flavors picked out for my wedding. The guests loved the cake! I thought so much would be left over, but the next day only a fraction was left. The cake looked lovely and Lorie was a wonderful person to work with. If I had the chance to re-do it, I wouldn't change a thing!

Lorie had the most delicious and moist cakes of any that we tasted (and believe me, we tried a lot)! She was able to take a picture we gave her to create the most beautiful cake. The color on our cake was a bit off from what we wanted, and the design a little simpler, but that would be my only complaint. Overall, it was gorgeous - everyone loved it and her prices are very reasonable. You even get a free anniversary cake so it's fresh! She was very prompt at responding and helped accommodate us in any way. We were able to do several tastings with her and she helped us choose the right size cake topper. We were even able to rent a cake stand from her at no charge! Our groom's cake was absolutely adorable and she did a perfect job with it!

Lorie was just wonderful - the cake tasted amazing at both the initial tasting and the actual wedding cake. We gave her an idea of a design we liked, she sketched it and it was exactly what I had pictured. Her design was amazing, and the cake tasted just out of this world. We wanted not only something that would fit our personality in style but would also fit our requirement for amazing taste. Lorie fit the bill. Just amazing - has my recommendation 100x over. Also, we were on a pretty tight budget, and we were very happy with the pricing. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Exceptional service and a ridiculously good cake. Lori created a beautiful and delicious cake, it was exactly what I had in mind. I could tell by all the details on the cake that she really listened to what I had described to her as my ideal cake. she did a fantastic job, so many people commented on how much they loved the cake.

Lorie runs her cake business out of her home. At first I was not sure if I wanted to have to go to someone's home to sample cake but when my husband and I walked in it didn't feel like we were at someone's home. Lorie did a great job of making us feel welcome in her place and was very professional the entire time. We could not decide between 3 different cakes and the best thing was there was no additional charge to have 3 different layers. We were so excited for our wedding day because we knew our cake would be GREAT! After our wedding was over and the months went on I became excited again to be able to taste her wonderful cake again on our Anniversary. Only a month left!!

Lorie was a fabulous cake designer. She listened to what I wanted and gave me the best service possible. She worked from a picture for my grooms cake and managed to hit it right on the button. I searched many other cake designers before finding Lorie at a Bridal show and she seemed to really care- she wanted the presentation of her cakes to meet the expectations of her clients and she has a very amazing talent and passion for what she does. I would absolutely recommend Simply Cakes for your wedding cake. The cake was amazing and looked great. I didn't have a ton of ideas, but Lorie was great at putting what ideas I did have into motion. I gave her flowers that were featured on my escort cards and on my invites and she replicated them exactly.

They have so many cute things that we used for the wedding and reception. Such a great variety and the items arrived quickly too. Everything I ordered from them was cheap and really great quality. It was so easy to find everything I needed and it didn't take any time to get it here.A lot of different gift ideas to choose from, the favors we ended up getting were small things that worked perfectly. Some of the gifts they have are so cute, they work as excellent favor gifts.

I ordered my wedding cake from Lorie at Simply Cakes. Her cakes are absolutely delicious! The cake is moist, the filling delicious, and the buttercream frosting sweet. Her prices are a little better than competitors and include Buttercream, two fillings per tier, any kind of piping, ribbon, fondant overlays, royal icing flowers and buttercream flowers. They do not charge extra for different flavors for different tiers. If your wedding is over 100 people, then you get to have two in-person meetings with Lorie - one for a tasting and one for a design consultation. My second meeting was delayed because another bride showed up unscheduled and Lorie fit her in. My cake looked beautiful! I chose smooth buttercream frosting with no piping and it looked perfectly smooth in the pictures! I was able to eat one bite of each of my 3 layers at the wedding, and they were all delicious! I did notice that the buttercream frosting had bubbled up in a couple places by the time that we cut the cake (it was late in the evening -10 something, and the cake was delivered early - I think at 4 something, since the ceremony and reception were in the same site). It was not a big deal and I doubt that my guests even noticed. I highly recommend Simply Cakes for your wedding cake. The best part is that you get a free cake on your 1 year anniversary, so no saving the top tier to eat a year later!

Simply Cakes really took the time to sit down with me and truly came up with the type of Wedding Cake I wanted. They had great ideas but also included my ideas as well. I also ordered cupcakes too and my guests raved about them!! I have been back several times to pick up a cupcake or two for myself :)

Lorie at Simply Cakes was phenomenal! She responded to my many emails very quickly, answered all the questions I had, and made us the most delicious and gorgeous wedding cake ever! The cake was exactly what we had visioned in our heads. They delivered the cake in a timely and quick manner, placed flowers on the top of it, and I could see the pride that she took in her work. She has kept up communication with me even after the wedding has ended, providing me with additional answers to other questions I had.

Lorie was professional, responsive and provided great choices at reasonable prices. We did a combination of cupcakes and a two-tiered cake for the wedding party. The cupcakes were part of our centerpieces and the wedding cake was put together using fabric and wire toppers provided by my friends and family. It looked great by the time Lorie was done with it. My cake was delicious! But the appearance of the cake was less than impressive, most likely due to the hot and humid climate that day (around 100 degrees!). Lori was a pleasure to work with, and her cakes are DELICIOUS. The top tier had a bubble in the icing. Our monogram was freehanded, and it looked a little shaky. The colors were right-on. If you are getting the cake in hot/humid weather, please please be there when it arrives, as bubbles might have formed, etc. As far as taste, I absolutely recommend. She makes all of her own filling and cake flavors, which are outstanding. Wonderful work.

My cake was absolutely beautiful! We also ordered a gluten free cake, a low sugar cake, and my husband's grooms cake from them as well. All turned out very well. Will definitely use again!

The cake tasted fantastic. But I had told the baker exactly what I wanted it to look like and we had agreed on that design and without contacting me to say she was changing it she did so! So when I saw my cake for the first time, at our reception, I was floored. Of course I couldn't vocalize it in front of everyone present. But I was very unhappy. She had gone with a similar design but it wasn't how I wanted it at all and she even added beaded piping to it. Which I never told her to do. So if you hire her I suggest you do something pick something out of her book that she has done before because clearly she cannot do special requests.

Please be cautious when working with this vendor. Yes, Lorie does have creative ideas & she is ok to work with for the most part, but there is also another side to her. We were a couple of weeks away from the wedding and Lorie began demanding payment, which would have been fine with me if she had done her part initially. After our last meeting she promised she would send over a final mock-up of our cake design, WHICH SHE NEVER DID. Then I get all of these phone calls & emails about final payment, but why would I settle the balance if you haven't delivered on anything you have promised. I responded to one of her emails, asking if she would still be able to send over the final mock-up that she promised. She said she was about to step out, but would scan over her drawing first thing in the morning. Needless to say, she sent over a SUPER ROUGH SKETCH that next evening. Now maybe its just me, but what type of confidence are you giving your customer by sending over a horrific sketch that looks like you took 2 seconds to complete in the DARK??? I questioned the quality of her mock-up, but SHE DID NOT CARE! I'll say it again, maybe its just me, but going into my wedding day I had no idea of what my final wedding cake would look like. I would hate for any other bride to have to deal with this type of unneccessary stress along with the billion other things that are going on. Oh, and the best part MY WEDDING CAKE DID NOT LOOK LIKE ANYTHING WE HAD DISCUSSED. Don't get me wrong, it looked & tasted OK, but I wanted a very simple design. Tiers floating on flowers, with a lot of height between the tiers. Subtle floral decorations on the side, sounds simple enough right? There was not much height between the tiers, the subtle floral decoraations on the side were anything, but subtle... they clashed with the table linen. I would not refer this vendor to anyone, I hope she takes her final mock-up sketches more seriously in the future with other customers.

I often joke that the only reason I started photographing weddings was so that I could have wedding cake very weekend. We have had Simply Cakes provide the wedding cakes for four of the weddings we shot so far this year and each one was unique and elegant. And lest I leave out the best part, they were all delicious.
