Simply Marvelous BBQ

We used Simply Marvelous BBQ to cater our wedding a few weeks ago and they were amazing! They came recommended by a friend who had attended a wedding and said that it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. We have since heard our guests say the same thing! Here are a few reasons why we would highly recommend them:

1)Steph the owner and Jaime are super nice, professional, and all around awesome
2)The food at the tasting was amazing
3)The food at the wedding was just as amazing (we had the Stuffed Mushrooms and Cheese and Fruit Platter for Appetizers and for Dinner we had the Cedar Planked Salmon, NY Sirloin, Mushroom Risotto, Rice and Vegetables)
4)They were easy to work with and flexible before the wedding, during and after!
5)They were the best price for value in the area

If you are looking for great food, nice people to work with and the best value, I would highly recommend Simply Marvelous!

Don't let the "BBQ" in the name fool you. This is not your average "BBQ" joint on the wheels–this is food at its best, combined with outstanding service and tasteful presentation.

I've had the good fortune of eating Simply Marvelous BBQ at several catered events. When it came time to plan my wedding, SMBBQ was my first and only choice. Even though I was already confident in the food and service, I had no idea how THRILLED SMBBQ would leave my guests and me on my wedding day.

THE FOOD: I'm a big fan of their pulled pork, but went with some more popular dishes among our friends and family for the wedding. We started with passed bacon wrapped meatballs, smoked salmon crab cakes, and cheese/fruit platters. These appetizers thrilled our guests and were presented with style. The bar setup was also attractive, clean, and professional.

The meal was salmon, smokey turkey breast, and NY sirloin roast. The sides were garlic mashed potatoes, grilled asparagus, salad and rolls. All of the meat was smoked to PERFECTION. We had compliments all night and for days afterward about the quality of the food. Several people literally called it, "the best food they'd ever had at a wedding."

I also caught one of my wedding party members (after a couple of glasses of Cab) yelling, "the mashed potatoes are so good, I want to fill my purse with them and take them home." Needless to say, people enjoyed the food.

A note about PLANNING: Planning with this vendor was particularly easy. SMBBQ is also great about helping you to coordinate orders with other vendors.

If I had to do it again, would I choose SMBBQ?
YES, ABSOLUTELY.

Not only did Stephan Franklin and his crew provide the most delicious bbq and desserts, they were extremely professional and enjoyable to work with throughout the whole process; planning to wedding. Our venue was logistically tough and they executed perfectly.

Yum, yum and YUM! Great comfort food and Stephan is absolutely amazing to work with. For the tasting he invited us into his own house and treated us like family, complete with wine :) Eating Simply Marvelous is like being in your grandma's house on a Sunday evening. Simply Marvelous = simply delicious!!

I'm having a casual rustic farmhouse wedding for 100, so naturally (wink, wink!) I'm having BBQ for the reception! I found Simply Marvelous by searching the web. They seem to traditionally do events for organizations and college campus type events, but they also do weddings.
The price was a tenth (not exaggerating) of what we were going to pay for a fancy caterer. Included in the price is our 6 stationary appetizers, crab cakes, chicken, Santa Maria tri-tip complete with a carving station, 4 sides (salad, garlic mashed potatoes, roasted veggies with rice, and baked beans), ice, two bartenders and plenty of staff to help.
So far I have dealt with Stephen (who I assume is a manager, maybe owner?), but he has always been very easy to work with and is prompt getting back to me with my questions.
Warning: they will do a tasting for you, but it is not what they usually do. I asked to do one and he gave me a hesitant "yes" and then I realized that for their excellent price you get a great BBQ the day of. I think the food will be wonderful!

AFTER WEDDING UPDATE: I am so glad I went with Simply Marvelous! They were top notch! Very professional, and the food was AMAZING!!! Everyone kept talking about how good the food was. The bartenders were great and there were many people on staff to do the clean up (I was worried that maybe we'd have to do it) and I just can't believe how it was so affordable!
